When Joni Kley finished her degree in social work, she didn’t feel like she could immediately quit her job as assistant manager of Kelsey’s Kafé on River’s End Ranch. Now that she is free to look around for something else, she’s not sure where she wants to go. She loves Idaho and the ranch, and can’t imagine living anywhere else, but there aren’t exactly a lot of social work jobs in town. When a new cowboy shows up at the ranch, she’s intrigued about the stories he tells her about the boys’ ranch where he was raised and still works. Max Logan sees Joni as soon as he arrives at River’s End Ranch. She not only gives him warm coffee, but she takes him to the store and makes him buy winter gear—something he’s never really needed at the ranch he works for in Texas. It doesn’t take him long to realize he wants to take her home with him, and he suggests she apply for a job at the McClain Boys’ Ranch. Will she be able to go with him and live happily ever after? Or will his past come between them?
Max has rarely taken a vacation away from home and work – that they both are in the exact same spot is a blessing for him, but he’s being sent on a vacation that he doesn’t really feel he needs. The bonus to heading to the snowy mountains of Idaho instead staying home in the warm winds of Texas is that he’ll get to spend some time with his foster brother Kevin or he should now say, Pastor Kevin. Ill prepared for the winery conditions he finds at River’s End Ranch his first stop is for some hot coffee at Kelsey’s Kafe If Max had believed in love at first sight, it would have hit him right between the eyes at the first glance of a beautiful waitress delivering the mana of the gods… hot coffee with a smile just for him. It wouldn’t take long before Max decided that this angel was perfect for not only him but for the boys ranch back home. Joni was perfect, now he just had to convince her that even he could believe in love at first sight.
Joni is an old friend of readers who have followed the River’s End Ranch from the beginning. She’s been working on her degree in social work while working at the Kafe. She’s finished her schooling now and with a brand new degree in hand she’s ready to set out to do the work of her heart. Except there really isn’t much work in her new filed locally. Extending her time a bit longer at the Kafe to help out Kelsi hasn’t been a hardship, but it’s soon time to make those final decisions. One Texas cowboy may just have all the answers she’ll ever need. An almost instant attraction, one really nice man with a heart of gold and a past that he’s still in some ways facing Max is a man that Joni could see herself with for a lifetime. When he talks about the boys ranch and how she could find work there it’s a lifetime she’d take a chance on… as long as that chance includes Max.
Peppermint Proposal is a nice, easy tie-in with Ms Osbourne’s new series Seven Sons about the McClain Boys Ranch. A series that I fully intend to get started on. I’ve kind of been waiting for Joni’s story as she’s been a stable at the Ranch for so long, she deserves a good man. Max and Joni’s romance may seen quick, but love knows and time doesn’t always matter. I’m definitely hoping to keep up with this couple’s life in another series as secondary characters. I happen to love those types of connecting series. If you’re in the mood for a sweet love story then Peppermint Proposal is perfect for you. I’d recommend this one and all of the stories in this series to any Romance reader who firmly believes in love… and maybe a bit of help from the fairies.

This book took a little longer to get into the story. The main characters Joni and Max do hit it off immediately. Max is visiting his brother at the Ranch. Max is from Texas. He was at a ranch for troubled boys in Texas. After he grew up, he stayed at the ranch as a cowboy. Joni works at the dinner as a waitress. She had just earned her degree at a social worker. Max stops at the diner to warm up and meets Joni. A love connection is made.
If you're a fan of Kirsten's books, you won't be disappointed. Love the way she always manages to weave a little thread of her other series into her stories. This is a one sitting read as Joni finds her true love when Texan Max comes to River's End to visit his foster brother, Reverend Kevin. She even gets to find a means of using her hard earned Master's degree as an extra bonus.
Hero: Max-Texan cowboy/Kevin's foster brother -- Heroine: Joni waitress at Kelsy's Reading Enjoyment:4.5* I enjoyed reading this sweet romance. Reading about Joni off and on since book 1 it was time for her find her happy ending. Bringing in Max from the McClain Boys Ranch brought the 2 fun series together in an exciting way! This book is full of romance, family connections, and fairy's (through Jaclyn of course)!!
Another sweet River's End Ranch book. Max headed to the ranch for vacation and to visit his foster brother. Meeting Joni he felt himself drawn to her. Joni was ready to move into the field she studied for. When Max tells her there is an opening at the ranch he is from she decides to take the chance. I love how this book sets it for the new series about the McClains.
Joni Joey just graduated with her Master's degree in Social Work. She is ready to find a job in her career field. Max Logan comes to River's End Ranch to visit Pastor Kevin his foster brother. He tells her she should apply to work at the boys ranch he works at. I love that Jaclyn seemed to be stalking Max.
A very cute, sweet and endearing new romance. A young man comes to River's End for an extended vacation and also to reunite with his brother. A great story about the dynamics of two amazing large families with lots of love and caring for those in need.
This book was not only a good romance, it also explored the emotions of a young man, surrendered to the state as a child, who grew up in a group home for boys. The characters were appealing and had good chemistry. The only weakness was that the book ended a bit abruptly.
Love this series! Max and Joni's happily ever after was a happy visit on the ranch as well as introducing (or reintroducing) the Boy's ranch. If you enjoy sweet romances this series (especially this book) is must read! Enjoy!
Just love going to Rivers End Ranch. Maybe we will also learn more about the Texas Ranch. Being from Texas that really appeals to me too. Great book as always. Can’t wait for the next one.
I really liked this book! This is a really really great series. Have liked all but 1 book. I loved the connection to the orphan series. Am I picking up on a new spin off serious? Please say yes!
Read this book, this series and all other books by Kirsten!
Wow! Once again Kirsten Osbourne has come up with a wonderful fairy tail of love. River's End Ranch story never ends to left my spirits. Times like now I wish River's End Ranch was real!
This was very beautifully written. A lot of warmth, love and caring in it. It's a nice clean story so everyone can enjoy. Come visit the ranch and meet some memorable characters, complete with fairies and bunnies. Enjoy a plate of snickerdoodle cookies.
Fun Christmas in July read. While there is a sadness to the story of parents abandoning their children, the positive is those who helped them become strong young men. Love the quirkiness of a fairy matchmaker and gnomes with some scrumptious snickerdoodle and other sweets.
From frozen mountains to the warm Texas sunshine, this couple gets around! Joni meets Max and all bets are off. Love takes one look at these 2 and totally takes over.
Meeting helping getting the right winter gear,it was just natural they hit it off. Bonus was him telling her about a job where he was raised and worked.
This was a romance; but there are no obstacles. Just at the end is there a question of whether the two will get together. But it doesn't work because you know they will.
Joni's turn and it is great! Now I want to go back and read the Seven Sons series again! Kirsten Osbourne outdid herself in tying the two series together!
