"Take a thousand precautions. If even one is successful, outstanding. Prepare for every single possibility. That is how I am."
"That's insane."
"How so? This is a battle. You lose, you die. Preparing yourself to death to avoid death, it's something we do."

THIS VOLUME WAS CRAAAZYYYY!! 🔥 I couldn't take any good breather, because there was always something happening. It's not the first time the TYBW arc volumes are taking me by surprise, especially the ones that cover the part of the story that I didn't know yet, but volume 73 was an absolute shock for me. The emotional rollercoaster I went through while reading this book is incomparable! I laughed, and cried, and laughed again, and cried again, then I was screaming in rage and frustration, and biting my nails in both anticipation and fear of what will happen on the next page. I always called Tite Kubo a genius for all the twists and turns that he had created in BLEACH, but oh boy, the amount of them in this volume was completely insane. I am still in a state of absolute shock, especially because of the last page that took me completely out of guard. I called one of the previous volumes (the one with Bazz-B on the cover) my favorite TYBW book, but after finishing reading this one, Volume 73 took the no. 1 from it by storm. Seeing the events happening in this volume animated will be an experience completely out of this world!!

"Kisuke Urahara. You're a knowledgeable man. You look like you've seen everything there is to see. Aren't you curious what will His Majesty create after destroying the three worlds? Don't you want to see what that is?" [Askin]

Now that the opponent released his Völlstanding form, even the mighty Yoruichi couldn't be a match for Askin. It's was Urahara's turn to try his luck against the powerful enemy. At the same time, captains Hitsugaya and Byakuya were facing another one of Yhwach's guardians, a giant god-like warrior called Gerard Valkyrie, while Ishida stood up against Jugram and Ichigo with Orihime by his side was on his way to meet Yhwach. The stakes are higher than ever. The clock is ticking relentlessly. Our heroes are still fighting, desperately doing their best, but falling one by one while facing the enormous power of the enemy side. But there is still hope. And there is still the will to fight. The Soul Society, Hueco Mundo and the world of the living - everything and everyone's fates depends on the result of the final hours of this war.

I think that all the fights that are covered by Volume 73 are not only brilliant and visually outstanding, but the best ones in the whole TYBW arc. I was always pretty invested in everything what was happening, but those battles are special in so many ways. The author's talent shined through the brightest of lights in this volume, hands down. I have nothing, but praises on my tongue and love in my heart for this book (and, let's be real, for BLEACH in general). The amount of surprises being thrown at the reader through, well, every page, was overwhelming in a way that wasn't an obstacle, but was completely welcomed. I wish to experience such rollercoasters of emotions every time a read a book. That would've been incredible.

"So? What're you gonna do, Kisuke Urahara? Don't tell me that just because I negated one through ten of your means, that you're at your wit's end." [Askin]

First of all I want to say that I really enjoyed the interactions between Urahara and Askin. There was so much respect and acknowledgement from both sides that it was incredibly enjoyable to follow their battle. Both sides were powerful and clever, both amazingly impressive in their own unique ways. I was amazed by both Askin and Urahara so much so that I didn't want them to ever finish their fight. I think it was the first time when I didn't want any of the sides to end up as the winner. And most of all, I didn't want any of the sides to die. I always loved Urahara, obviously, but only through reading the manga I discovered love for Askin, so I (foolishly, really) hoped for a positive ending. I ended up in tears.

"Oh, boy... You really are trying to kill me. I guess, I have no choice. BANKAI."

WTF, BROTHER?!?!?!?! 😮 I always knew that the guy is capable of achieving Bankai, it was quite obvious, really, but it was never shown, until now. If I will say that my jaw hit the floor would've been an understatement. I mean, there were spoilers, but I tried to keep myself away from them as far as possible. I saw only some glimpses here and there, but haven't had any understanding of what I was actually seeing. But here and now, wow!!! That was INSANE! TRULY, TRULY INSANE!! 🤯 I was so bewildered that my mind had trouble processing the events that my eyes were seeing. What kind of mind one person has to have to think about such a power is truly beyond me. The powers of Bankai was always incredibly fascinating to me, becoming not only a pleasant surprise over and over again, but a legendary power scale that inspired and still keeps on inspiring the manga authors. But oh boy, the amount of awesome Bankai's that dropped not only in the Urahara vs Askin fight, but all over Volume 73, was a truly insane experience (I'm sorry for repeating the words like "insane" and "crazy", I'm just so overwhelmed with emotions that my mind is struggling to find proper words to describe it). The Quincies' powers were also fascinating (scary and creepy sometimes, too), but despite all the might that stands on their side, I will always choose the Soul Reapers and their Bankai's.

"I hate to be so cruel, but you leave me no choice! A powerful embodiment of darkness such as yourself, shall become rust on my Höffnung!" [Valkyrie]

When it comes to the Valkyrie fight, I think it was maybe not biggest surprise, but definitely the most wholesome experience I felt when I was reading this volume. You might be confused right now, dear reader, because how a battle could feel wholesome? It can when you see your favorite characters being so very much them, but most of all when they are working with each other, side by side, giving their 100% to win and save their home (and the whole universe), despite not always agreeing with each other. And when it's not only beautifully engaging and visually stunning battle, but also full of cute and funny moments that you can't help, but laugh and smile wildly, despite also having your heart in your mouth with worry over how the result will look like.

And the next Bankai reveals?!?!?!?! 🤯 INSANE!! TRULY, TRULY INSANE!! 🔥 I thought my mind will explode trying to comprehend everything what was happening!

"It's good to see you. I've been waiting. My son of darkness." [Yhwach]

Ichigo is here!! He finally managed to meet with Yhwach, which means that the final battle with the the final boss had begun. It's something I have been waiting for so long, I cannot even explain it. I need Ichigo to not just put some sense into the final bad guy, not to just stop him from destroying the universe, no. I understand Ichigo's no kill policy. I understand I deeply respect it. But just like Ginjou couldn't be left alive, Yhwach also can't be left alive. As long as he's breathing, the universe will never be truly safe. He will constantly try to destroy it and shape it according to his own twisted will, and we cannot have that. Besides...

"What's is there to be sad about? She died as she supposed to." [Yhwach]

Yhwach is a person responsible for killing Ichigo's mother. And I LOVED ICHIGO'S MOTHER. He brutally took away Ichigo's and Kurosaki's family's center and the sun away from them and he needs to pay for it, just like he needs to pay for taking away Ishida's mother and every other Quincy that he thought of as "unworthy". Heck, he not only killed these people, he clearly is enjoying this thought. The way he basically made fun of Masaki IN FRONT OF HER SON was unforgivable. I know why he had done that - to make Ichigo go full power from the start and to act recklessly, but it was totally uncalled for and I absolutely hate him for it.

Yhwach isn't a king of Quincies', you guys. He isn't a king of the world. He's an ungrateful piece of you know what who needs to not only be put in place, but be permanently vanish from existence. I'm not a person who wishes death upon someone, but oh boy, I really need this man to die.

P.S. ICHIGO'S REIATSU WHEN HE WAS COMING CLOSER TO YHWACH WAS INSANE, OMGGGGG!! 🔥THAT'S THE TRUE KING RIGHT THERE!! 🤩

Anyways, there is only one volume left for me to read. ONE VOLUME ONLY! I can't believe this! We have to get a conclusion to the Valkyrie fight, the Jugram fight and the Yhwach fight. Will there be another rollercoaster of emotions, just like with this volume? Will I be screaming and crying, and laughing, and raging? We will see! ☺️

Some things I need to talk about: (please, be aware of the spoilers!)

~ Do you also think that Askin is incredibly handsome? Tite Kubo had made so many stunningly hot characters - both male and female (Ichigo will always be my no. 1, pun intended) - but, to be honest, I never expected that I will ever find any Sternritter handsome. But there is one, and no, it's not Jugram! 😂
~ I had been so conflicted during Askin's death scene. I should be cheering. Everything in me should be celebrating, because another enemy was brought down and with it, my heroes were a step closer to the final win. But what I was doing instead was crying. I was crying so hard like I just experienced one of my favorite characters die. It was only a Sternritter. A freaking Sternritter, an enemy, and instead of cheering, I was crying my eyes out. It felt absolutely unbelievable and I tried to stop, to focus on the fact that Grimmjow came back, that he's alive and well, and came back, but all I could see was Askin laying down in a pool of blood, with his heart crushed to pieces 😥
~ I was always curious about how Benihime will look like, and why the hell I saw Urahara's stitched face everywhere, but holy cow, I did not expect that she will be such a giant! A good-looking giant, though. But her abilities?! I am so relieved that she's on our side, because damn 😨 I admire Askin's coolness in such a situation, I would be freaking the hell out! I'm having chills thinking about it!
~ The fact that Urahara was prepared for everything, absolutely everything, shows how incredible, but also scary Urahara's mind is.
~ The fact that Urahara fell down while calling Ichigo's and Rukia's names 😭
~ I never expected to see Byakuya lending a hand to someone instead of being the one in charge (as a royal that he is) and I never expected to see not only a Byakuya and Toshiro team up, but also Byakuya, Toshiro AND Kenny team up. That was so wholesome, I screamed my lungs out like I was watching a soccer match 😂
~ Toshiro's and Byakuya's done faces while saying "Here comes trouble" at the sight of Kenny cracked me up 🤣
~ I feel like Valkyrie was a worthy opponent for Kenny who absolutely loves to fight (and cut things down). The fact that Valkyrie brought Kenny to the state of Bankai speaks volumes of how powerful he is.
~ Oh, right! Kenny's Bankai?!?!?! Hello?!! How can he use it without calling its name! Insane! 🤯 Also, also I think it's fitting that Kenny, who always was such a beast in the fight, became an actual looking beast while being in the Bankai state.
~ Btw, the Kenny vs Valkyrie fight reminded me of the David vs Goliath match.
~ And Yachiru??? It was so nice to see her again!! P.S. So I was right about her being Kenny's Zanpakuto?! 🤯
~ "Captain Hitsugaya. He's a difficult opponent to take one-on-one. Let me lend you a hand."
"Sure. I guess with our height difference, two against one wouldn't be cowardly."
"....."
"Why are you looking at me like that? You wanna say I always have a height disadvantage?"
"No. Of course not."
- I LAUGHED SO HARD, O MY GOSH 🤣
~ Poor Toshiro he was so close of dying from stress because of the huge possibility of Seireitei being crushed at any given moment.
~ I can't believe that Valkyrie got cut in half and immediately brought himself back together! How monstrous are Yhwach's guardians, it gave me chills (not the good kind)!
~ Was I the only one who thought of Jack Frost when seeing Toshiro's true Bankai look?????? 🧐
~ "Who is that?!"
"Fool! Can you not tell from his voice?! It clearly must be captain Hitsugaya's older brother!"
"Oh, right! Nice to meet you!"
"That's right! Nice to meet you too!"
- I don't know what's funnier - the fact that neither Renji nor Rukia realized that Toshiro is Toshiro or the fact that Toshiro instead of correcting them, played along 🤣
~ I'm so done with Yhwach calling Ichigo by "son of darkness". He's not a darkness, man. He's the freaking sun! 😤
~ I can't believe that Ishida had been brought to his knees while Jugram didn't even get a scratch.
~ "Might be kinda unfair to go two-on-one. But you're in charge of defense. I'm counting on you, Inoue."
"Okay!"
- I thought that I will hate this when I will finally see this scene, but I actually liked it. I was never a fan of this pairing, I was always vocal about it, but now I'm happy and relieved that these two had each other in the final battle. Orihime seems to actually do her job and protect Ichigo like she should, so we're fine.
~ I wanted for Ichigo to keep his cool in the fight against Yhwach, feeling displeased when he let Yhwach provoke him, but let's be real now, who wouldn't react like this while hearing all those awful things about their parent and knowing full well that the person in front of them is responsible for that parent's death?
~ I snorted when I saw Renji clutching his heart after Byakuya rescued him and Rukia 😂
~ "Renji. Rukia. You two head to where Ichigo Kurosaki is."
"Wha..?"
"But, brother...!"
"Look at the spiritual pressure. He's already confronting Yhwach."
- the fact that it was Byakuya who had send them to Ichigo is incredibly precious to me.
~ "I think it was the right decision. They should be with Kurosaki." - TEARS?! 😭
~ "Kurosaki's our comrade, but to them he's a friend." - Toshiro, you might think this way, but I'm sure that Ichigo thinks of you as a friend! ☺️
~ I did NOT expect to see Isshin and Ryouken in this arc at all, so seeing the image of them on the end of this book made me shout in happiness! 🤩

That ending though! Also, Hitsugaya is a big part of what made this volume particularly great and I loved that fight with Urahara!

I won't lie that it was fun to see all these surprises stockpiled into one volume. From never-before-seen bankais to surprise arrivals setting up things for the final volume, this was clearly the embodiment of a rushed storyteller and it is unfortunate that it had to all end this way.

The villains here continue to be insane in their design and temperament but it's okay.

If anyone gets this far into the series, you're clearly just sticking around to see how it all ends anyway.

Yours truly,

Reviewed on Lili Lost in a Book

First of all, I was SUPER excited to read this one cause omg the cover is gorgeous! I ADORE Renji! He is my absolute favorite! And while I enjoyed the volume overall, there was a minimum amount of Renji in this book and I was totally not okay with that! 😩 You put Renji on the cover and I’m gonna expect a volume dedicated to him, but nooOOOooo 😭

But anyway, in this volume we got to see interesting revelations regarding some Bankai. Urahara’s was very cool to see! It has such an interesting ability! And I just love Urahara in general—he is really funny and sassy, but I particularly love how smart he is and how he is always prepared for everything.

While I didn’t get as much Renji as I wanted in this volume, we got to see quite a bit of Toshiro which made me extremely happy! 🖤

Oh and Kenpachi is also back! Yay! And we finally figure out where Yachiru has been this whole time! I’m not gonna lie, it’s been a while since I read this, but I still feel pretty torn about this.

But I really loved this volume overall! We got to spend some time with some of my favorite characters and we got to see some really cool, new powers from the reapers!

Brilliant volume. Two outstanding fights, both in top 5 bleach fights in the entire series IMO.
Fight 1.) Byakuya and Toshirou versus Gerrard. Seeing one of my favourites Byakuya get to fight one of the strongest villains was awesome, he has the best character development in Bleach imo and is an expectionally well written character. BANKAI, SEBONZAKURA, KAGEYOSHI. Toshirou has always been one of the coldest characters in Bleach (no pun intended 😉) but the trump card he pulled out in this fight was hype af, and the panel is def one of the best ones in the entire manga. As for Gérard, his power is a bit stupid tbh, too OP, but cool nevertheless.
Fight 2.) One of my favourite fights in Bleach. Getting to see my goat Kisuke Urahara unleashed in a long scale fight like this was incredible. I dont wanna say too much here cos ill spend all day, but in short Askin is easily my favourite Sternritter and Kisuke is an absolute monster. The amount of trump cards he pulls out in one fight is just a testament to his unmatchable intelligence.

Kisuke’s bankai is so freaking cool. While it’s not the strongest in terms of fighting prowess, it suits him perfectly since he’s a scientist and honestly that intellect of his makes it that much more deadlier. His bankai is also my favorite panel in all of Bleach, I got literal chills from it and it’s honestly the most highly anticipated bankai to be animated for me. I’m also excited to see Kenny’s bankai animated, it’s insane how it’s so strong that his already powerful body couldn’t handle it. Kenny’s fr just built different. I also find it ironic how he, who once scoffed at the idea of forming a bond with his zanpakuto, shared the closest one with his this entire time.

Also Toshiro’s older brother 😩😩 ??? (ik that’s actually Toshiro) He about to make me act up fr 😭 Momo you better step in line

Man I’m not ready for the final volume and the battle between Ichigo and Ywatch… hell I’m not ready for Bleach to end 😭

hitsugaya being in his adult form and rukia and renji seeing it for the first time and renji going "who the hell is that?" and rukia saying "isn't it obvious? its hitsugaya's older brother" and hitsugaya going along with it because they're both dumb as fuck...best scene ever I adore them so much jsksksk.

And after 73 volumes we FINALLY see both Kisuke and Zaraki's bankais! Kisuke is one of only two characters in this series I still favor, so the volume gets two stars for that alone. I was generally pretty pleased with Kisuke's bankai scene; it struck just the right level of threatening and creepy. Wish we could've seen its full potential in action, but I accepted long ago that Kubo had lost some of his original interest in Urahara.

Everything else...Ridiculous. Overwrought. Incoherent. The only shot of Yoruichi we got was a half shot of her asscrack. I mean the flagrant disrespect the author has for his own characters is unreal. I really wonder how much of toxic fan culture played into Bleach's infamous decline.

One volume to go, and the most reviled one at that!

This volume finally reaches the climax and we get some epic battles, like Zaraki unleashing his bankai while fighting Gerard Valkyrie but the more you cut him the more he grows up and his true power doesn't seem to stop. Hitsugaya also grows up kinda and now his freezing power is something. Meanwhile Ichigo is fighting Yhwach and he has gained all his powers so its gonna be super difficult meanwhile in an other place Uryuu seems to have lost against Haschwalth and things are not looking good. Multiple threats are still there for the Shinigamis so how will they trounce it and emerge victorious? The finale is set and its gonna be epic! Great art and the stakes have never been higher!

What a wild and amazing volume! Full of fights but leaving time for some funny and sweet and absolutely crazy moments. Seeing the three captains (won't name them) fighting together (sort of, at least two of them willingly 😅) was amazing! The best Ichigo and Inoue moment ever. Yhwach is certifiable, I just can't believe how he can believe his own words. And the final characters showing up at the end, yep!

I'm on to the last volume with lots of different feelings 🥹

Bleach Volume 73 😍! Almost to the end!

I just don’t want it to end ever so I’ve been taking my sweet time reading these last few volumes!

Captain Hitsugaya and Captain Kuchiki working together is everything! Urahara is a badass! Ichigo is my favorite and Inoue ❤️.

Only one more volume left.

I’m honestly only giving this three stars instead of two because of the last page of the last chapter has the arrival of Dad Squad on it. Other than that, this volume was mostly a headache with the occasional good bit thrown in.

So many surprises that I cant even comment. This volume was delightful. Just when I thought they was nothing new to show us. The die hard fan are gonna go nuts. Things are also coming to ahead between Ichigo and Yhwach. You have to just read it yourself.
