2023 Reread!! On my keeper shelf and deservedly so. EXCELLENT!!!
This is almost perfect, needed a little more of a futuristic epilogue of this perfect couple and romance.

And I loved this just as much the second time around!!! The epilogue was beautiful.
I sure enjoyed these two characters dialogue, chemistry, and sexual tension.
Princess Moriana get's dumped by Prince she's been betrothed to since she was about 8years old. She's been labeled the Ice Princess by the paparazzi and blamed for being dumped. Moriana has dedicated her life to her country and her family doing all that's been asked and even more so. She's done giving and is ready to let loose and live a life of fun. She's called into the King's study, her brother, and told she's been offered a marriage proposal by King Theo, a long time friend of the family. Theo and Moriana's relationship is pugnacious and volatile. But there have been few moments of kindness and an undercurrent of something else. As Moriana is being told of the proposal given by letter, she lets loose on her brother. She let's him know emphatically that she is ready to party and do some sexual exploring (she's somewhat pulling his leg but is also ready for changes in her life). She wants to finally live a little and has given and dedicated her life to everyone but herself. Her brother tries to reason with her and how it would be beneficial to her, the country and Theo's country to make this partnership. He advised her Theo would be good husband and she has said she wants four children. With class and composer Moriana let's him know she deserves so much better then a marriage proposal by mail. As she exit's his office we learn that the king had Theo on the phone when Moriana walked in and he had stayed on the line and heard the entire exchange.
Theo lost his family during his teenage years. He believes his Uncle was involved in their death and has lived a life where he doesn't trust anyone. He has always felt something for Moriana and was drawn to her. But due to her engagement to the prince, part of their circle of friends, he's suppressed his feelings for Moriana. Now that she's free all bets are off and he's determined to show her that they would make an excellent team/partnership. Theo is also determined to make Moriana feel worthy. He's determined to romance her, make her feel beautiful and introduce her to the world of physical pleasure (he was very romantic and excelled in the sensual introduction too).
Moriana has a charity event that she is hosting that was a couple days after her meeting with her brother. And guess who shows up but Theo. Theo proposes a deal on certain events taking place that will make Moriana agreeing to their marriage. He invites her to his home/castle for a week to get aquatinted and to put into action the proposal he presented.
Moriana and Theo's relationship was a wonderful evolvement of love and commitment. We had some great dialogue and hot sexual tension. It was adult and had give and take from both parties. I appreciated both the presentation of the hero and heroine character. Moriana was poised, beautiful, caring but smart and capable. Theo was alpha, strong but yet had a tender and sweet side. I liked and cared about the secondary characters as well. Pacing, story line was very good but did feel the ending was a little rushed. Would have loved an epilogue (the last chapter was somewhat of an epilogue but needed to be several years into the future for my liking).

Sweet friends to lovers story that doesn't feel like an HP - this has more of a Harlequin Romance feel to it. The H/h are both of royal blood from different mythical kingdoms (that are a part of a series). They have known each other since they were children. The heroine was betrothed to yet another prince of yet another mythical kingdom since she was 8 years old. Hence the reason this hero prince tried to stay away from the heroine in their childhood -even though he watched her from afar.
Now that the heroine's original betrothed has jilted her for his pregnant girlfriend, the hero sees his chance to finally get the girl.
The virgin heroine has no idea of the hero's feelings for her and just thinks the "womanizer" hero needs a convenient wife as queen. The hero has to work hard for the heroine during the week she consents to stay with him in his palace and decide if she can marry him.
There is a sub-plot with the hero's cousin that ties directly to the hero's main fault - his inability to trust. It all works out in an amusing "sword fight" in the epilogue. The H/h have great chemistry and the hero is lucky to have someone as smart and savvy as the heroine at his side. As for the heroine - hero has loved her forever (he just didn't want to acknowledge it) and that's just - *sigh*.
I'm not really expressing the charm of the story. Kelly Hunter has a breezy voice that comes across as chick lit in most of her contemporaries. However, the fairy tale setting and strong world building cancel out the chick lit tone and here her breezy narration sounds more like someone telling a really nice story with lilt in her voice. There is definitely the relaxed element of "It's all going to work out -enjoy the journey." And I certainly did.

Convenient Bride for the King had good storytelling; a hero who was an alpha that was jealous and possessive; and a perfect royal fantasy that I could escape into...those were the positives.
The negative aspects of this book: too many subplots that took focus off building the romance; I was bored by the Benedict subplot. The Benedict subplot had subplots. I wasn't interested in them. I wanted to read about the heroine falling in love with the hero and that subplot took away from that; the heroine mentioning the trashy tabloid headlines. This happened so much. It annoyed me she overthought & feared these trashy tabloid headlines; the last negative aspect: the heroine was going to leave the hero nearing the last chapter. This really annoyed me. By the end of the book the hero and heroine should be pulling closer not running away.

I am now officially a Kelly Hunter fan! This book has the sexiest romance I have ever read in Harlequin. Yowzah! The first scene had me sweating bullets. Hee hee! I like how Hunter throws in little irreverent bits of humor and dialogue. I love how strong and capable the heroine is...truly a queen. And the hero is sexy, strong, ruthless when needed, and at times vulnerable. The chemistry between H/h was explosive and awesome!

Convenient Bride for the King by Kelly Hunter is the second book in her Claimed by a King quartet. Each story can be read as a standalone, but they do appear to follow each other in terms of overall story arc. This one is a friends to lovers romance with a royal touch, and is one of my favorite reads so far this year.
Princess Moriana of Arun is tired of doing what’s expected of her. Betrothed as a child to Prince Casimir of Byzenmaach, she’s been informed that their engagement has been called off. For years she’d put all thoughts of other men on the back burner, keeping her virginity safe for her wedding night. Now she’s ready to start living life for herself. Except King Theodosius of Liesendaach has an offer for her that she can’t refuse.
Theo has cared for Moriana for years, but never showed a hint of his true feelings as she was engaged to their mutual friend Casimir. Now that Casimir has broken their engagement, he’s ready to offer for her himself. He needs to marry to protect his crown, and Moriana is his choice for queen. But she’s quite clear that she’s not looking to get right back onto the marriage mart. Theo offers her something else, a chance to touch and kiss him to see if they have any chemistry. If they don’t he’ll back off. But if they do, he wants her to give serious consideration to marrying him.
Moriana agrees, and their first kiss reveals a deep seated attraction. Theo offers to let her explore her sexual side with him, all while considering a permanent partnership. It’s a tempting offer. Will it lead to a life long love affair?
This romance is such a delight! I already had high expectations, having loved Shock Heir for the Crown Prince, and the fictional small European country setting. It’s got a little medieval flair with castles and traditions yet is thoroughly modern in tone and characters. I love that Moriana isn’t afraid to stand up for herself with her brother King Augustus. And she’s the same way with Theo, which just makes him fall more in love with her (even if he won’t admit that’s what he’s feeling).
The dialogue in this story is stellar. There’s plenty of banter between the various characters, but there are also some serious, heartfelt discussions. Theo’s parents died at the hands of his uncle, and for years he has thought his cousin partly to blame, ruining what was once a deep friendship. When his cousin wants to bring his dying father home, it is Moriana who listens to his concerns and helps him follow the right path for himself and his country.
I’ve always been a fan of hero in pursuit stories, so Theo stole my heart right from the start. The choices he makes are for Moriana’s benefit, not his own, and while he is intent on persuading her to marry him, he’s not going to make her do something she doesn’t want to do. So he just has to go about convincing her that she does want to marry him after all, and isn’t above using sexual satisfaction for his purposes. Their love scenes are sexy and fun, and consent is given on all sides. I found this aspect important and a definite trend in the right direction. While Harlequin Presents novels are known for having dominant alpha male characters, there’s no reason these heroes can’t also change with the times too.
From start to finish, Convenient Bride for the King is a pure pleasure to read. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series!

What can I say fabulous, awesome a book I couldn’t put down Kelly Hunter you rock your stories are just incredible the way you weave emotions and feelings and make your heroes and heroines people that are easy to love, easy to feel friends with, wow I loved this one.
Princess Moriana has been described as the duped Princess and a lot more by the press, they love giving her a hard time after the King she was supposed to marry married someone else, Moriana decides that it is time to think of herself and when she receives another marriage proposal in letter form from King Theodosius, and he offers her a week of sexual learning to convince her that marriage to him would work, time for Moriana to live.
Theo needs to wed and wed quickly if he is keep control of his kingdom and when his friend’s sister is now available she is the best option, mind you Moriana has always been of interest to him even when they were teenagers, but considering what Theo has been through trust is something that doesn’t come easily to Theo, will he be able to convince her to marry without trust and love? Or will she show him what they mean?
This is a story that is filled with witty, amusing and entertaining banter from page one as Moriana and Theo start their week of learning together, the sexual pull is strong and the growing friendship between them is just fabulous, Moriana is one of the best heroines that I have gotten to know and Theo OMG what a hero man my heart went out to him and they so make the best couple. Don’t miss this story it is so very good I loved it thank you MS Hunter

I liked this! Good chemistry between the leads and I enjoyed the writing. The conflict at the end felt a little weird and it was solved soooo quickly. It sort of felt like it was thrown in there because a story needs a last minute conflict and not because it made a ton of sense in the context of the story and the relationship.
(Oh, and I actually felt like I was missing stuff since I didn't read the first one. Which I usually don't in romances.)

I can’t say I 100% liked her... but all the stars for him.
He wanted her “by his side” from his teen years on, but she was promised to another king-to-be. When that deal fell through, he wanted her as his Queen. It was great to be inside his head to know this had long been his heart’s desire. His end speech was great.
She put him through too many ringers, beyond what I thought was necessary, but that’s me!
Loved the opening scene with the overheard phone call — very sneaky.
Would’ve loved a better Epilogue but luckily more info about their story shows up in book #3.

I really loved this series - have read everything by this author, who IMO - likes to keep it real/funny/sweet! Up there with the "West" series which I also loved! Book 2 slightly better than book 1 but difficult to separate the two.

Now the neighbouring king, Theodosius (Theo) of Liesendaach, offers her marriage ,but presents it as a business deal. So Moriana refuses him- both in writing and perg.sonally.Theo (30) used to tease her as a child. He lost his parents and older brother in a helicopoter crash 15 years ago.He was supposed to be on the 'copter, too, but went with his cousin Benedict elsewhere and thus survived. His uncle Constantine became the Prince Regent till Theo grew up. Theo always suspected his uncle was responsible for the death of his family.Now Constantine is in exile in France.

Loved it! Theo and Moriana may be royal, but first and foremost they are a perfect romantic couple. I loved everything about it. The fairytale setting, the perfect plotting, the sparkling and heartfelt banter between them and the sexy scenes. Everything is just fabulous. I loved the writer’s imagination and her willingness to take risks in this trilogy. A very satisfying read.

Wow - my first Kelly Hunter and I'm already on the hunt for more.
This was great. King Theo has known Princess Moriana since they were children, and he's been in love with her since he was a teenager - unbeknownst to her, as she was betrothed to another prince. That engagement gets broken off because of the events in book 1 of the trilogy, and as this one opens the princess is feeling humiliated and angry at wasting years of her life.
When Theo proposes to her - formally, by letter (his joke lands very flat!) - she is even more upset at the rigidity of her circumstances and the prospect of yet more dutiful conformity in her future. Theo has his work cut out to prove he can give her passion. And boy, that he does. You can feel the chemistry burning off the page, as friends become lovers become beloved. Their conversation is witty and quick and dry and develops the plot. Moriana is a great princess and will be a superb queen - thoughtful, poised and clever.
There is a subplot with a very nasty uncle and a not-quite-as-dodgy-as-you-think cousin, some very well-drawn secondary characters and quite a few twists.
"Because she's it for me. She always has been." Swoon!
Looking forward to chasing down the others in the trilogy and more by this author.

This one was surprisingly wonderful. It was definitely better than the first in the series although the first was pretty decent too.
What I loved about this one was both Moriana and Theo. They were perfect for one another. Moriana had such strength of character and intelligence. Theo was a bit broken from events that happened in his life that took his family from him. He was strong but distrustful and truthfully it was hard to blame him for that. On top of this was learning how Theo always wanted Moriana. Even as young teens he had a crush on her but knew she was out of his reach due to her arranged marriage which lead to their combative frenemies type of relationship for most of their lives. It didn't change how Theo felt though. He always watched her, knew where she was in a room at all times, was there for her at key moments in her life and knew she was "it" for him. He was infinitely patient with her and quite a bit selfless because he pushed her to choose herself and what made her happy for once in her life.
It was a lovely story packed with romance and humor with minimal angst. I adored Moriana and Theo.

I love these types of books, they are quick easy reads without to much brain power needed. I love to read these after a hard day while I am in bed.
I love the romance and how Theo has secretly loved Moirana since he was 14. But being betrothed to another made it a secret. Until Moirana is no longer betrothed but it's going to take everything Theo has to make her belief that his proposal is real and not to keep his reign as King.
Moirana finally break through Theo's thick exterior and prove to him that he can love and trust after his Uncle has tried to take everything away from Theo including his family.

This book will now and forever go down as one of my favorites! The royals as slightly star crossed lovers story was so engaging. (He's had a crush on her since they were kids but she was promised to his best friend.)
The romance scenes between them were HOT!
But really, what had me the most happy, there was a gay character in the story. I can count on one hand how many HP I've read that have had inclusivity like that, and it's something that shouldn't be that rare. So bravo to the author for bringing us an HP that belongs in the 21st century. I can't wait to see what else she brings us.

Another fantastic story in this series! This book, much like the first, is not your typical HP royal wedding story. Really enjoyed the frenemies-to-lovers theme, and loved the conversations even more! The story had lots of really interesting little plot points and secondary characters that added to the entertainment factor. Now onto Untouched Queen by Royal Command to see what the elusive Augustus is up to...

A story that has you laughing before you finish the 1st chapter has to be good. Loved it all the way through. Sad about his family but it wasn't dwelled on. Really really really liked the main male character - Theo. Gorgeous guy. I knew Benedict was a good guy and misunderstood. All the males, in the book, knew Theo's feelings toward Moriana................and had done for a LONG time. hehehehe

King Theodosius sends Princess Moriana a marriage proposal by post which was a major blunder on his part and he then has to try to turn things around which gives us insights in to the strengths of characters of both the hero and heroine in this at times passionate romance and what might just pull them together. loved it.

I liked this one, having just read Claimed by a King #1. Loved the interplay of characters over the two books - but not so much that a reader wouldn’t be able to read #2 as standalone. Also loved the interplay between romance and royal-ness; it was an intelligent mix. Kelly Hunter, don’t make us wait too long for the next instalment!

Kelly Hunter has such an engaging voice. I enjoyed this book, the second of this series I’ve read. As unbelievable as the characters are, they are totally relatable in terms of their insecurities and flaws. Some awesome subplots as well regarding Theo’s cousin. A great escape.

Loved her snappy dialogue and humour as always. I’m a sucker for the friends-to-lovers trope, so enjoyed Theo’s wooing of Moriana, and am looking forward to the next two in this mini-series.
