This collection includes the entire DAUGHTERS OF ASKARA trilogy.
EVERLONG, Book 1
The most damaged heart can fly with the right pair of wings.
Madelyn’s life is far from fairytale perfect. She is second in line for the throne of a corrupt, brutal monarchy. Or at least she was until her dark guardian sacrificed his life to hide her safely in a realm of infinite possibilities.
For years she’s lived among a colony of escaped slaves as her guardian’s widow. Even in this simple life, though, nothing is as it seems. Her hero kept a secret—a younger brother named Clayton Delaney. Warrior, winged demon…and the man who now wants to lay claim to her heart.
No longer cast in his brother’s shadow, Clayton meets all obstacles head on, including one named Maddie. His infatuation with her reaches the breaking point when she undergoes a royal rite of passage, going into heat and pushing them both over the edge.
Just as Maddie learns that some risks are worth taking, she discovers that her guardian may be alive. And she’s forced to make a choice between the man she’d thought she loved, and the demon willing to lend her his wings.
Warning: This book contains virginal angst, a hero who’s too nice for his own good, wings, claws, and convenient use of glamour. It contains heartbreaking loss, conversation with a woodland creature, and sweet, sweet demon loving.
EVERMINE, Book 2
He can be a slave to his past…or allow her love to free him.
There’s such a thing as too much change. Emma’s sister is mated. Revolution is brewing in her home realm. The last straw: her would-be mate is back from the dead and back under her skin—yet when it comes to the last five years, he’s not talking.
Desperate for a chance to start her own life, she answers the queen’s call to ensure equality for all of Askara’s newly freed slaves. It’s the perfect opportunity to escape a heartbreak in the making named Harper.
Harper loses a piece of his fractured soul when Emma walks away. His lies were meant to protect her from torturous years that drove him to the point of madness. Instead, when he comes to her a year later to help avert a crisis in a freed-slave community, the wedge those lies drove between them is firmly in place.
As their new lives collide with old wounds, they race to stop a threat that could not only destroy the queen, but send Harper back to the hell he escaped. Emma must decide if the man she still loves deserves equal rights to her heart.
Warning: This title contains torn pants, ripped gowns, and sand in uncomfortable places. It also includes one overcompensating villain, one gnarly priest, and two battered hearts willing to give this thing called love one last chance.
EVERSWORN, Book 3
Steal the salt. Bind the grimoire. Escape the male.
When an exchange of stolen goods in the Feriana marketplace turns sour, Isabeau stumbles from the encounter bruised and laden with new orders to complete an even larger heist. With her child’s life at stake, there’s no room for error—or allies.
Armed with a lethal book of spells, she strikes a dangerous bargain with Roland Bernhard. Steal a shipment of salt from the Feriana colony, and she’ll have her freedom—and her daughter. It’s all she’s ever wanted. At least it was…until she runs into Dillon Preston.
Dillon is out of commission after a mine explosion, and itching for a distraction.
Hailey Edwards writes about questionable applications of otherwise perfectly good magic, the transformative power of love, the family you choose for yourself, and blowing stuff up. Not necessarily all at once. That could get messy.
Started so well, a harsh alien world where the h has had her wings ripped off at birth by an awful queen,so the h is helped by those protecting to escape to the human realm. She lives there for 5 years without ever meeting the H. And for me that's where the plot went haywire. He kept keeping secrets from her, so did her protectors, so they kept her ignorant and that is just mean and also so childish. Too many teasing hints, and the childish writing was boring and very frustrating. I didn't like it at all.
This is the 4th series of books I've read by Hailey Edwards, and I find her characters and settings to be compelling enough to keep me searching out more of her work. they are paranormal romance, but they branch out in interesting directions from some of the more common paranormal characters and settings.
I enjoyed the universe this series is set in. The stories and characters were interesting. The romance and sexual scenes are plot-driven and not gratuitous.
Warning - there is slavery and violence in the world of Askara, though they are shown in a negative light, it could be problematic for some readers. For most of the three books, most of the characters are _former_ slaves. The setting is a little gritty, but not gory or going for shock value.
I thoroughly enjoyed these stories. They had everything you could want amd then some. As I've come to realize with each of the books that Hailey Edwards writes, is that she has an amazing ability to create characters that we truly care about. We cheer for them when they are doing well, we are nervous when they are in trouble, we want to fight for them when someone does them wrong. All these thoughts and emotions we feel towards story's that just enhance those characters.
I enjoyed the series and each book had something a little different to offer. I'd even reread the books. My only problem is the relationships lacked depth.
Her plot and settings were great but when it came down to each romance they didn't know each other. This for me was the difference between good and great.
Be warned the world she built has a slave society and the characters are a part of that.
I will also say this is probably my favorite series by this author thus far.
As always this is another fantastic work by Hailey Edwards. This is a collection of 3 books, and they flow into eachother flawlessly. For the SJM connection the male main characters all have bat like wings and the devotion to their mates the bat boys do. Plus spice. ;) I definitely recommend for fans of ACOTAR series and those who like strong heroines.
This was a wonderful set of stories as usual. Hailey Edwards never fails to entertain. Please be cautious of the first book. There is an attempted rape/chase scene in book one that triggered my PTSD for a few sleepless nights.
I've enjoyed tremendously all the other books by Haley Edwards but this was too violent and ugly and just boy meets girl, girl resusts and then sorts itself out.
Loved this one the best. I hate that not all the loose ends were tied up but I didn’t expect it with the way the other books went. I had also hoped for an epilogue.
What a wonderful set of books. Love the story line as it is one I haven't run across yet. Different kinds of "Demons" where they are slaves. In a parallel universe from Earth. Not much smut but remembered by characters abuse, both physical and sexual, however, not descriptive. Strong Love interests for different characters across the books. Lots of action and the stories move right along.
