Habit Stacking: 150 Habits for Improved Productivity and Greater Joy — Tom Shepard (8 parts; 153 titled chapters) — Jan. 8-10, 2018

This is probably the best book I have read on habits: the psychology behind it (not too dense to understand though,) and how to successfully create habits. It is broken into eight parts, with bite-sized chapters under each part…not as long to read as it sounds.

The basic gist of the book is to make new habits not more than 5 minutes; to add to good habits I already do; and to repeat the habit for at least 30 days, but more like 61 days for them to stick. The premises is very true to life, because this is exactly how I have incorporated several of my new habits into the old good habits I already do. Like making my bed as soon as I get up. I usually take my shower before I go to bed, but I learned in this book that might not be good because the body needs to cool down. (Not sure if I will change that habit though because I associate with taking a shower before bed, and it always calms me down.)

When I got into the other sections, there were some “tips” or “suggestions” that either didn’t apply to me, or were concerns I already figured out. I just skipped those parts. But there were still some good nuggets and helpful ideas on how to add to habits that I already do.

Honestly, if you only read the first section of the book, it’s still worth the download price. But I recommend at least skimming the other sections because of the quality of suggestions.

this is a good book with a lot of good advice. I did feel like some of the habits were more of a certain mindset and there was some duplication.
