When Autumn Ends

I was at the top of my game until reality hit in a way I had never imagined, forcing me to face the living hell that had become my life. The ghosts and demons that once filled the pages of my bestselling novels now flooded my mind, consuming my thoughts both day and night.

She was hauntingly beautiful, and I was drawn to her in the most unimaginable way.
She was my breath when I had stopped breathing.
She was my hope when I was drowning in despair.
She was my muse when I had lost all motivation.

But nothing good lasted—not in my world anyway.
Like the last days of autumn when the beautiful leaves are stripped away by the long winter days, lurking in the distance; her caring ways and gentle soul were only temporary. Soon it would be taken from me, leaving my heart as barren as those once majestic trees. But unlike those autumn days, she remained, giving me the courage to face the cold, dark winter of my past while uncovering secrets and lies that could be the premise of a bestseller. Only, this wasn’t fiction, this was my reality—a reality I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

Ever since I can remember, I've always had a passion for Creative Writing. There's something special about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen--or in today's world a touch of the keyboard. Maybe it all started with the soap opera-level drama I used to script for my Barbie dolls. Plot twists, emotional arcs, surprise twins—it was basically a writer’s room before I even knew what one was. Whatever the spark, storytelling quickly became my favorite way to explore, create, and shake up reality just a little. I love stories that keep me on my toes. The kind that push me outside my comfort zone and introduce me to characters I either want to be friends with... or dramatically argue with in a fictional diner.

I love traveling to scout out new and exciting settings for my books—but nothing beats a peaceful walk in the woods or a seat by the ocean close to home. Turns out, plot twists and inspiration show up just fine with a sea breeze and squirrels.

KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

A Heart grabbing, emotionally, charged story about the all consuming power of love and healing.

WHEN AUTUMN ENDS: Is a full length standalone contemporary romance/suspense novel by Beth Rinyu. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ In this we meet Ethan and Jenna

Twenty-eight year old ‘Jenna Delaney’ has just inherited a quant B&B from her Aunt and Uncle recently with specifications laid out in the will that if she sold it she could keep the proceeds from the sale of it, but if she decided to keep it they had left her an additional sum of money for renovations.

As a child she used to spend many summers so when this was left to her it could’ve come at a better time as she’d just recently been laid off from her editing position at one of New York's biggest publishing agencies. So here she was embarking on a new business adventure in the quaint seaside shore of New Jersey

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And thirty-three year old ‘Ethan Banks’ is visiting the seashore town also but for entirely different reasons he’s wanting to escape the ghosts of his past, but wherever he looks they are right there with him no matter how far he runs to. His story is heartbreaking to say the least and what this poor man has had to endure throughout his life will have even the hardest heart breaking.

My past is like an anchor weighing me down. I can't even imagine a future, and the only time I feel like I can function in the present is...when I'm with you

I can't even pinpoint what I loved the most about this book, the unique storyline, the two characters, the slow burn romance, the suspense, the plot twists, everything in this book just worked. I forfeited watching my favourite programme last night just so I could stay that wee bit longer in this book..That never happens!! That is like saying no to chocolate!! So you know that this was something that wee bit special where I couldn't for the life of me stop reading it!!

★ 4.5 stars!!! ★

“I was stuck. Stuck in a world that no longer existed, wishing I could go back and rewrite those last few chapters of my life and have them end happily, but I knew better—happy endings weren’t my style—in my fictional world or my real one.”

“This girl, this stranger, held some kind of power over me that was impossible to ignore.”

*suspiro*

“My past is like an anchor weighing me down. I can’t even imagine a future, and the only time I feel like I can function in the present is… when I’m with you.”

Apesar de prever e acertar determinado acontecimento e achar que teve um leve excesso de drama perto do final, eu realmente me conectei com essa história e seus personagens. Me fez sentir, me revoltou, emocionou e encantou. 💖
Não consegui parar de ler enquanto não chegasse na última página!

“She cleared my head of the ghosts that haunted me. She helped me breathe when I didn’t think I had any breath left in me, and she was cracking the seal on my heart—a heart that stopped beating a year ago, but with each passing day Jenna made that rhythm return ever so slightly.”

Eu conheci a autora através do livro Thursday Afternoon (um dos meus favs de 2017), sendo assim, já esperava uma história intensa e emocionalmente linda. E certamente foi isso que encontrei nas páginas de When Autumn Ends! 💖💖

When Autumn Ends was my first Beth Rinyu
What made me request the book was sorely the plot. No friends review no cover nothing else.

The plot is about a broken and tortured man who will meet a sweet girl who will hopefully help him be happy again. This is one of my favorite tropes!

Ethan is destroyed. He also is a real jerk to everyone Jenna included. It was like a gut reaction. When an animal is hurt he often retreats in his lair and bites anyone in the vicinity.
Well that is Ethan at the beginning of the story.

Jenna wears her heart on her sleeve. She is a loving and caring girl that I wanted to shake some sense into because...that horrid fiancé! Plus who enters a drunk man's room really? Especially when said drunk turns Dr Jekill and Mister Hyde on you?
Seriously I would have run the other way ...and never got to really know Ethan. The story would never have happened.

I guess random acts of kindness do open possibilities.

But I digress.

The plot in a nutshell
Ethan is a famous writer who disappeared from the publishing world one year ago after a terrible tragedy destroyed his world. He is full of guilt and hate. Slowly drowning.
“Darkness was my life now, the only place I found refuge from my own personal hell. I took a seat on the bed and grabbed my favorite remedy from my bag. Lifting the bottle of Jack Daniel’s to my lips, I took a swig and washed down a pill. Reaching into my bag once again, I pulled out his favorite teddy bear, the one he’d sleep with every night.”

Jenna has been dismissed from her editing job when two companies merged. She is to marry a big lawyer even if the closer the big date the more she gets cold feet. Really sweet person she inherited her aunt and uncle huge house on the beach and wants to restore it to open a bed and breakfast.

They will meet when Ethan is at his lowest. He'll be aggressive with Jenna but she will help him as she can see he is hurting. I told you the girl is a saint!

The plot revolves around getting to know each other, peeling Ethan's layers away to discover the man hiding under the wounded beast.

Essentially character's driven you have twists and turns to keep you interested even if I confess to have guessed the big reveal.

Jenna was just admirable. Mature, selfless, courageous, loyal....

She was the perfect woman for tortured Ethan. So perfect I can't imagine someone like that exists.
“She was open and honest. She wore her heart on her sleeve and didn’t have a hidden agenda. She accepted me for who I was and didn’t try to press for more than I was willing to give. Yeah, she was a little naïve and somewhat indecisive, which normally drove me insane, but it didn’t bother me with her. She didn’t know Jonathan Reed, but given her former profession, I was certain she’d heard of him. She accepted me as Ethan Banks, and that was hard to come by these days.”

I really liked this author’s style, heartfelt, flowing effortlessly, making me cry and smile. Just something perfect for romance!

Recommend it? Yes, absolutely!

The cover, although beautiful, had me on the fence for this book. I'm just not a fan of gray. What sold me on this book was the description. One of the best descriptions I've ever read, and I had to know what happened.

When Autumn Ends is a heartwarming story of perseverance and resiliency. I have to be honest, it's not like anything I've read before. Which is a good thing because I'm sure we're all tired of reading the same thing over and over again.

In the beginning we meet Ethan who is broody and standoffish and Jenna who is feeling overwhelmed and isolated. Jenna is engaged to someone else at the start of the book which usually bothers me however, Ms. Rinyu handled the situation tactfully. I  even hoped for the end of her initial relationship, something that never happens. It was clear he was not the right man for Jenna and there was no infidelity over the course of this book. I fell in love with Jenna right away, he character was relatable and well developed.

Ethan was a little harder to love. He was closed off and sometimes downright rude. But when he let Jenna in and I saw the man behind the mask, I fell for him hard and fast. Deep down he's a man who has been hurt in unimaginable ways. He's shut himself down as a means of self preservation and it's amazing to watch him open up and live again. That's always my favorite part of romance novels - when the characters stop fighting, realize they love each other and embrace the future together.

Sounds like a wonderful story, doesn't it? I know it does. But that's not what made this a 5 star read for me. The reason it has 5 stars is that there's a twist towards the end. A twist I didn't see coming, at all. That twist took the book from good to extraordinary. I think everyone should read the book just to find out what it was.

Overall, When Autumn Ends is a sweet, wholesome read that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a feel good book to cuddle up with over the weekend.

Recently laid off from her publishing job and engaged to a man she isn’t sure she’s in love with, Jenna is feeling lost with her life. But when her aunt and uncle leave her a run-down, old bed & breakfast, Jenna thinks this project is just the fresh start she needs. So Jenna moves 2-hours from home into the neighboring bed & breakfast while she remodels hers. Her fiancé thinks she’s making a big mistake, but Jenna is convinced this is what she’s been missing.

Ethan Banks is a bestselling author feeling immense pressure from his publisher to produce his next book. But Ethan is struggling with immense grief and feels his life will never be the same after his incredible loss. He struggles from nightly nightmares and is using alcohol and prescription drugs to ease his never-ending pain.

Jenna happens upon Ethan in a time of need. He’s staying in the room next to hers and she helps him during one of his horrific nightmares. And from then on out, the two of them form a friendship. They couldn’t be any more different: Jenna wears her heart on her sleeve, an ultimate lover, whereas Ethan is closed off, with the weight of the world on his shoulders. But the two of them make quite the pair, regardless of their differences. Ethan helps Jenna fix up her B&B and Jenna helps to fix up Ethan in the process.

Ethan is convinced he is unable to love again, but Jenna helps him see love in a whole new light. But even if he gives himself to her, he worries he could never be what anyone truly wants again.

When Autumn Ends by Beth Rinyu is an emotional, deep romance that has a great blend of heavy elements mixed with heartwarming moments. I’m surprised by how little ratings/reviews this book has received because I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love hard-hitting romances and Beth Rinyu did a great job with this story. I liked that our heroine came to this small town to fix up a B&B and our tortured hero is a writer. The two of them made a great couple and I think this book overall deserves way more attention! 4/5 stars.

I guess you’d like to know what I think about Beth Rinyu’s latest release “When Autumn Ends” … well I guess its fair to say that I think its “Hauntingly Beautiful” - the Blurb… wow… and I mean have you seen that Cover – just “WOW”.

Beth Rinyu is one of those authors that weasels herself quietly into your reading piles and once she is there she will never leave you again – trust me …
Her writing is just out of this world beautiful. And I hope she will forgive me when I say that but I think she is also an Autumn/Winter author … which sounds funny considering the Book title. The stories just have this “thing” about them that makes you want to take the book, turn off the phone, light a candle , close the drapes, grab a blanket, a glass of wine and something to nibble. I think you get the idea. And what is even “worse” is that her writing seems to be getting better and better (me laughing)

I seriously did not want to put the book down as I was so drawn into the story and captivated by the settings and the characters that it was almost too much for me to return to the real life.
Some books simply do that to you

As for the plot – I would like to leave the storyline as mysterious as it is and will therefore not share any details with you. Just maybe this much that my heart really hurt for the male lead. In addition, you may expect some serious suspense and surprises on top of the breathtaking setting.

Gosh I can not stop staring at this cover ….

Have you read any of the previous books by this author ?
Did you like them ?
You answered two times yes ?
Then you will love this book !
Trust me you need to get this one as soon as possible and start it on a rainy day in my above mentioned setting ….

Jenna inherited a b&b from her uncle. Her jerk of a fiancé thinks she should sell it. But instead she decides to renovate it. There she meets Ethan, an author who is drowning in sadness. He just wants to be left alone. After some initial hesitance from Ethan's side, they start spending time with each other.
To add some suspense...

Others will definitely like this but not me. I have already read many book like this. Not in a mood for dramas.

Review by Jen Skewes

As always Beth Rinyu has delivered a story that is just amazing beyond words. This one is a little different than what we are used to from her. A unique storyline with a bit of mystery and suspense, twists and turns that you never see coming and two tortured souls trying to move on and start over.

Jenna has inherited a B&B from her aunt and uncle. She can either sell it like her fiancé and family want her to or she can fulfill her dream of renovating it and keeping it open for business. She chooses the latter which means time away from her hometown and her fiancé. But this is what she wants, what she needs and is determined to make it work.

Ethan is a currently staying at the B&B as well and is a complete mystery. When Jenna first meets him she is not sure what to make of this sexy brooding man. And quite frankly neither was I. But Jenna saw beneath the darkness and saw that deep down he was a tortured soul, trying to move on from something horrible in his past. She just didn't know what or how to help.

As they spend time together a friendship forms. They both have their scars. Ethan trying to escape his past and overcome the amount of guilt that he is carrying. While Jenna is just trying to start over. They manage to break down each other walls, letting each other in. But when the past comes back to haunt you will they be enough for each to fight it once again.

Beth is one of my go to authors and has been for quite some time. All she has to do is tell me she's writing anew book and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. And with each books she writes she continues to just amaze me with her writing. She always manages to pull out all of the emotions and this book is no different.

When Autumn Ends is a heart breaking yet beautiful sorry that will suck you in from the very beginning. There are twists and turns that you will not see coming. You emotions will be will be out through the wringer. It is raw and at times gritty. You may not know whether to kick Ethan or hug him when you first meet him. You will fall I. Love with Jenna and her ability to fight for what she wants and to put herself first. It has its ups and downs but it is worth every single minute spent reading this book. I loved it and can it express enough just how much. Another fantastic job by ms Rinyu.

A tearjerker from the get-go! Similarities to others I've read before, but Rinyu gives it a personal touch and made it her own as well. Two main characters that are attractive and interesting. A sad tale of devastating loss. A broken engagement and a hard rode back to a new beginning. And everything in between is emotionally charged. I made a guess at the big reveal and I was right. But it still had some twists and turns that caught me by surprise.

Nicely written and well paced. A book I truly enjoyed reading and recommend.

When Autumn Ends is by far my new favorite from Beth Rinyu and I have no idea how to review this story. What I thought was going to be an overall sad feel to a story turned out to be so much more! It was hauntingly beautiful and intense!

I hadn't realized that there would be a mystery component going into When Autumn Ends and let me just tell you. They mystery part is what made this story so spectacular! The writing was stellar, the mystery was intense and the romance slow burn perfection. The twists and turns and shocking revelations in When Autumn ends kept me up at night until I knew how this story would end! I thought this was one story and it turned out to be something else entirely!

Ethan seems legit crazy when we first meet him, but we know that he has had a dark, tragic past and he is attempting cope with with everything when he meets Jenna. Jenna is smart and is working to restore her aunt and uncles bed and breakfast, while dealing with her fiance and mother who are completely against her running it.

When Autumn Ends is the best work by Beth Rinyu to date! This book is unputdownable and I devoured every single plot twist and I couldn't get enough!

I was a big fan of this! Rinyu is an amazing author who is great with telling character's tales. Ethan got me to instantly connect with him. He had such a hard life and it was truly sad in a lot of moments. It was beautiful what she was able to do with Jenna and their connection. Definitely a character and emotion driven story!

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

Ok I was in tears through this book but could not put it down until I finished it.

Jenna is wanting to make her aunt's house into a bed and breakfast and while doing that she realizes she is not happy with her life , she doesn't want to be married and also meets Ethan,

Ethan has not had a good year his wife killed herself and their son , he meets Jenna when he mistakes her for his late wife.

These two become friends and then a little more to each other but when she starts finding out some things from Ethan's past are not what they seem , it will take alot to make sure everything is made right and her heart is still in one piece .

This is the first book I’ve read by Beth. I fell absolutely in love with this book. I never knew what was going to happen next and I had a hard time putting it down. When Autumn Ends is now one of my favorite books of 2018.

I finished this and immediately felt as if I had lost an important part of my day, I felt spent, the time I had spent with the story and the characters had been so integral to the last day or so that I was almost bereft at the fact that our time was up.
There was so much to this story that it doesn’t fall neatly into any one specific category because while it had more than enough romance going on, it was the mystery that totally won me over and I think that was because it was so unexpected.
I thought the story was complete consuming, I felt enveloped by the detail and totally blown away by the depth that the author was prepared to plough into both them and their situation. There were twists and turns that I hadn’t anticipated and quite frankly didn’t have a hope in h**l of ever seeing coming, but I loved that element of surprise, it brought the pages to life.
I wondered where the connection between Ethan and Jenna was going to go and I must say that I think only a woman like Jenna would ever have been able to deal with the tragic past that Ethan carried within. I will admit that initially, he wasn’t an easy character to get my head around but I couldn’t help but get drawn to him and secretly had my fingers crossed that his darkness was something that he would be able to finally find his way out of. But could he? And if he could just how much of a part would Jenna play in it all, after all, she had enough hassle of her own going one with her family and their reluctance to see why she wants to take on her Aunt and Uncles B&B.
This is nothing and I do mean NOTHING short of sensational!

HE CHEATED ON HIS WIFE!

Yeah, come on, let justify him. Poor man, his wife was such a bad person blah blah blah
She complained a lot, coz he was soooooo good and left her alone with a small child, while earning money. Yeah, let's find a thousand of reasons not to blame him... 🙄
And how could a heroine, who was cheated by her ex, tell him it was fine?
Black or white, the male protagonist CHEATED ON HIS WIFE!

Romance my ass.....

P.S. The wife was supposed to be dead, so the h didn't cheat with a married man, apparently, coz twist and jeez... 🤐

This romantic and emotional novel is about a young woman, Jenna, that has inherited and renovating her family's home where she hopes to start her own B & B. Staying next door in another Inn is Ethan, a tortured writer who has revisited the seaside community to remember a heart-breaking event from his past. Jenna's engaged to a man that she is having doubts about, while Ethan is mysterious and has very frequent and unexpected mood swings. Slowly, a friendship starts to build, could there be more between them when Ethan is battling so many ghosts from his past?

As soon as I started this novel, I had nothing but love for Jenna. Despite her worries over marrying her fiance, she dives in head first with renovating her aunt's home and regardless of obstacles and challenges, she keeps such a sweet and positive attitude. As far as Ethan goes, there is nothing likable about him in the early stages of this novel. He's angry, broken, bitter, and almost any other negative adjective you can think of. I won't explain why, but he actually has a very valid reason and has experienced things that are unimaginable. However, he slowly begins to open up to Jenna and as he begins helping her with her renovations and as she shares more about herself, an entirely different Ethan begins to surface.

When Autumn Ends is a fabulous combination of romance, friendship, heart-breaking events, and rebuilding your hearts and families. Even with the sadness within the story, I assure you that this will leave your heart happy and full. Beth Rinyu has included plenty of twists and turns that will keep you completely addicted from beginning to end, and Ethan and Jenna are characters that you will not soon forget. I highly recommend this contemporary romance, but grab some Kleenex!

I love Beth Rinyu's talented writing so I didn't even read the blurb before I read this story, so I was expecting a sweet romantic story, but When Autumn Ends was so much more than I bargained for, and it straight up blew me away! First of all, it wasn't all roses & romance, as Ethan was at the top of his profession when personal tragedy brought him to his knees, and now he just wants to be left alone to battle his demons. Jenna has been laid off her job so when she's left her favorite aunt's B & B, she's determined to make it great again. During her time fixing it up, she meets Ethan, and while he's very rude to her, she's drawn to him, as her heart breaks for the pain she sees in his eyes. But she also has issues that she has to deal with as well. And that's all of the plot that I'm going to give away, but know this, there is sooooo much more to this amazing story. Ethan is a tortured soul, but somehow Jenna's light is able to help draw him out of the darkness, but not instantly, so it's realistic. And the cast of secondaries are a complex sort, because it is a mystery with suspenseful overtones, so not sure who's good & who isn't, but there are some who made me laugh to help lighten up in the midst of the angst. Which is my next point, the angst for days, which brought tears to my eyes more than once, as the pain seeped through my kindle it was so tangible. Finally, twists were around every corner to have the f-bombs fly in every direction, as I didn't see the epic conclusion coming! This story will be one of my favorites of 2018, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Every single time I read a Beth Rinyu book I’m left spent. She literally puts my emotions through the wringer and I adore her for it! When Autumn Ends is so hauntingly beautiful it took my breath away.

When Jenna inherits a B&B and wants to make some life changes, she focuses all of her time and energy on just that. That is until Ethan invades her world. While Jenna is falling out of love with a jerk of a fiancé and Ethan is trying to survive a horrific loss, they find comfort in each other. Comfort and companionship that neither saw coming. Ethan is a famous writer who’s struggling to continue his career. He’s dealing with demons no one should ever have to face. Jenna is his only slice of happiness. But that happiness is threatened when the past comes back to haunt them.

I’ll admit Rinyu had me yelling at my kindle, crying huge crocodile tears and then lastly singing her praises. I’m not sure I can prepare anyone for the twist and turns you are about to experience reading her latest masterpiece, but I can promise you the ride will be worth it!

“When Autumn Ends” by Beth Rinyu is the story of Ethan a bestselling author and Jenna who recently inherits a bed and breakfast.

Ethan is struggling with loss and Jenna is undecided about her current relationship. When they initially meet they do not have a great beginning, but they build a friendship which leads to a relationship.

Ethan’s demons take over on a daily basis and he has a difficult time opening up to Jenna. The hate and anger he has is palatable and Jenna is the only one who can take away the pain.

Jenna is loving, caring and understanding. She brings peace to Ethan. "She was the glue that was holding me together when I so desperately wanted to fall apart, and if she were to leave, that glue would dry up and break me once again—only this time beyond repair."

Three quarters of the way in, there is a twist that I didn’t see coming and blew me away.

Beth Rinyu is always a go to author for me and I am always excited when she has a new release. You will not be disappointed in this new story and will fall in love with Ethan and Jenna.

This author's recovery from writers block gave us a great read. She introduces us to two characters that both have some ugly in their past that have somehow brought them to the same place. He struggled with his past and the demons and guilt that ate at him in his dreams. She hadn't found her voice until she met him and found a way to stand up for herself. Together and against all odds maybe these two friends that have given each other the respite and support they each needed, can find the peace they yearn for.

A really good story with characters that make your good eye twitch along with some excitement and action. The intrigue and suspense this author weaved into the story and the twist make this book worth reading and this author worth exploring. I love her style and this new to me author will stay on my radar.

So happy to have a new book by one of my favorite authors!! The writing is so effortless and engaging. I was hooked to this book within pages. I like to go into books a bit blind. I don't want spoilers and I don't want to figure out surprises. So I was VERY PLEASED with this book! I love the building romance and the pain and anguish of the characters worked through together. I also love the way Beth Rinyu writes a love scene. Very much fade to black but still with all the emotions. Just perfection!

only got about 40% into this one when i realized all the sex scenes were going to be fade to black and the characters/story wasn't compelling enough for me to keep reading despite all the sex scenes being fade to black. sorry, not sorry. i like my romances with steamy sexy time scenes.

on another note the writing seemed a little immature and unrealistic. felt like i was reading a hallmark movie

Jenna has just inherited a guest house, and Ethan is visiting the quant seaside town, and is trying to fight his constant demons. This is a raw, gripping, and powerful romance / suspense novel, which has twists, love, emotion, healing, and is an intense and all consuming story. This talented author has done a fantastic job in writing this story, and I was totally captivated throughout. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers, as you will certainly not be disappointed!
Brilliant work Beth!

A page turner

This was an excellent book. I was immediately sucked into the storyline and I loved watching the evolution of this couple. Throw into the mix a bit of mystery and you’ve got yourself one hell of a love story.

Autumn is my favorite season

I had a little trouble getting into Ethan & Jenna's story at first. But I liked the writing & characters, so I kept reading. SO glad I did! From 27%, I was hooked!

And so were Ethan & Jenna. Heh. I love the way their friendship progresses to more. They have a sweet connection & Jenna's way of healing his demons is absolutely fabulous.

Along with the story of healing, there's a bit of a mystery that pops up, & the way THAT plays out is brilliant! The road to their HEA gets a little rocky, but that HEA... SO worth it!!
