This book is part of the box set A Taste of Submission.
Sometimes books are a hit, this one was a miss for me. Linzi Basset starts with a prologue about a (CIA?) operative who supposed to kill a woman and a child and walks out on her job. Strange start, but still okay.
Next (it goes downhill from here), we meet Rhone, who is woken by awful noise and goes to explore stark naked. 🙄 of course, a guy walks into a potential dangerous situation with his pride and joy unprotected!
All right, don’t call me a quitter, I braved on.
Our heroine Samantha turns out to work as a carpenter now. 🤔 wait, what? As I try to wrap my head around this unexpected career switch, I’m thrown into two pages of the most terrible head hopping. You know the kind that leaves you motion sick?
Maybe this is a great book, but I’m not going to find out. DNF

This is the first book in a new series & Linzi has another winner on her hands, meet Samantha & Rhone. From the moment she lays her eyes on Rhone she wants him, it is safe to say the feeling is mutual. This story is full of twists, turn & secrets with things about Samantha coming to light. I really enjoyed this book I know some are not happy about Rhone skipping the ssc aspect of BDSM, but I really enjoyed it. It is another facet that added to the story for me just making it slightly dark. I am eagerly awaiting book 2.

Ok, I was going to give this book 3 stars as I didn’t like the main characters, I couldn’t connect with them for the first half of the book.
Samantha was just annoying, she had a group of tough ex soldiers that now run a private security company surrounding her, (as bdsm is a main feature within the book, she was literally surrounded by them 🥵) but she kept the identity of the baddie a secret from them 🤯
Rhone who runs the security company and owns the bdsm club was very unappealing, couldn’t connect with him whatsoever.
Now, the last 30% is very good! I was engrossed in the storyline and had to finish, so I’m adding a star for the last 30%…HOWEVER be warned THIS ENDS IN A CLIFFHANGER!!!! If like me you don’t like cliffhangers, do not read.

OMG, this book was fantastic. It is an amazing and interesting read. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen. There is suspense and intrigue. Love and hate, sex, BDSM that was something you can only imagine. Samantha was a sniper who wanted to finally get out of that line of work, but her boss Adam Baxter would not let her. He always had a job he wanted her to do for him, but it wasn’t for the country to be safer, it was his own list of enemies he wanted killed. And now it was Rhône, a man Samantha has fallen in love with. And he had the perfect incentive to keep her under his control by holding her sister captive. A sister who was supposed to have died along with the rest of the family. Not knowing how to escape this madness she had to fake a killing, and then tell them about who was manipulating her. All she wanted was to free her sister and the little girl, but at what cost. The book is awesome, and I can’t wait to start book 2. A definite read. 5 stars.

Rhone Greer is battle hardened and weary from years of undercover work. His security company is top notch and thriving. His new club, Club Devil's Cove, is just about ready to open. Samantha Frazer is an artisan carpenter working on the club's new bar. She's also a former CIA paid assassin with ties to Rhone though neither of them know it when they first meet and sparks fly. She's sassy, bratty and gives Rhone a run for his money. He is determined to tame and bed her. Secrets come to light giving Rhone every reason to mistrust Samantha. He refuses to believe her even when presented with evidence of her truthfulness.
Rhone and Samantha are fire and gasoline together. Their interactions are incendiary. The subplot is intriguing and edgy. There are characters from Club Alpha Cove series that crossover to this book but the new characters introduced are intriguing. I look foreard to their stories.

I've said this with most of Linzi's books but 5 stars is not enough. Her books are always so very well written! The characters are described so well you can picture them and you cannot help but love and cheer for them. This one will keep you on edge the whole time and will end leaving you needing more! You finally think you've figured out what's going on and another curveball comes at you! Despair, pain, loss, betrayal, corruption, hope, love, loyalty, chemistry and spicy heat is what you'll get!

I have loved every book I've read by Linzi Basset, and this book is no different. Rhone has been one of my favourites since his days at Club Alpha Cove and to see him with a feisty sub at his own club is awesome, Samantha definitely gives him a run for his money...and doesn't back down when he goes all alpha bear on her!! Samantha knows she loves Rhone, early on in their relationship, but Rhone has trouble getting past her former occupation. This all leads to a fiery relationship, full of sparks, flames and shooting stars!! My only negative for this book, is the many sentences that have missing words or the wrong word was used (similar spelling) eg. light sconces were written as light scones. I still look forward to part 2, and the rest of the series. Kudo's Linzi, on another great series start!!!

His Devil's Desire (Club Devil's Cove Book1)
As the first book in the new series for the Club Devil's Cove it was different from the rest of the other stores Mrs. Basset has written. The story was quite interesting to a point even gaining a 5* rating from me, BUT, I did have one thing I found hard to deal with with rourks character which was his lack of SSC apperence throughout the story. using BDSM and hateful emotions against Samantha instead of seperating work from the BDSM D/s side. It just hit me wrong reading it. It was still a really great story that I do highly recommend it was just my own personal feeling while reading the story. Can't wait for book two.

When she felt her handler, Bulldog, was using her for his own personal vendettas she left and opened her own woodworking shop. Three years and a new name later she is working on the woodwork for a new BDSM club, Devil's Cove, when she meets Rhone. Rhone is hot one minute and cold the next but his dom nature calls to the sub in her and this is one challenge she doesn't want to back down from. Especially not with lives and her heart on the line. Just how far will she go to maintain the life she has built or is a secret from her past worth losing everything?
This was an impulse buy book from BookBub at one point in time or another. I don't know exactly when. I have a habit of randomly getting books suggested to me on there when I go to browse. It's a dangerous game that generally results in 5 more books than I had before.
I love BDSM. Books and otherwise. So I was excited to find that this was a BDSM book. Pushing limits is one thing, but limits shouldn't be crossed. I felt like Rhone crossed some of hers. I wouldn't have been able to do the multiple partners as anyone who has read my romance reviews for any length of time already knows. To each their own.
This is a book that does end on a cliffhanger with no real resolution to the romance. We solved the issue of Bulldog, but everything else is still up in the air. I enjoyed the book, but I don't know if I will be continuing since I'm not a huge fan of cliffhangers without anything really resolved. While it doesn't feel like it stopped at an arbitrary point in the book there was just so much left in the air.
There is hope for the series, don't get me wrong. There are a lot of feels presented in this book and there are lots of sexy scenes. All great things when it comes to a smut book. I loved both main characters, even when Rhone annoyed me. I hope everything works out with Keon. I can't say more than that without giving away things in the book.

If you love hot Alpha males, then this book will sizzle your senses. Linzi Basset's wordsmithing is the best! I felt as though I was one with the characters as the story line progressed. It does have a cliffhanger however Linzi titillates you with a snippet of the next book in the series. I will be reading it too. I am do excited to read all of her books!! Must Read if you like hot steamy sexy Alpha men and all they offer to their loves of their lives. 📚📚📚

As with any romance series where a book = one couple, some of the pacing for the relationship development is a little quick. I found it a little jarring considering the stakes of entering a D/s or M/s - gotta have trust there & it was lacking in some of the sexy scenes (key to the plot & character development). Kinda ruined them for me - not gonna lie. But otherwise it is well written & the sex/kinky scenes are accurate and delightful! Excited to see if I am still with Leon after finishing book 2.

OMG. I am totally hooked on this series. This is the first book I've read by this author and it was a part of the collection A Taste of Submission.
I love a good suspense novel full of alpha males, strong female characters, intrigue, and steamy sex scenes. This story pulled me in from the start and I couldn't wait to learn of Samantha's history, who was Bulldog, and would Samantha and Rhone find a way to be together. This book does end in a cliffhanger and I've already started reading the next to find out what happens next.

I have read Club Alpha Cove and loved the series. This is the same. I am sooo glad that book 2 is out and I can read one after the other.
Rhone and Samantha make the perfect pair. Both have war scars and have shut off the world around them with the exception of a close few. When they encounter each other things explode!!
Be aware this ends in a cliffhanger, but book 2 is out.

When Samantha and Rhone first meet, sparks go flying! But as the story progresses, things really intense.
I love that Samantha is her own person, she reminds Rhone and his friends that while she might be submissive, she's still a bada$$.
There were a few times that I wanted to strangle Rhone and Bracus. While I understand the situation (I really don't want to give anything away) at times they were too rough and untrusting of Samantha.
And just to warn you...that cliffhanger is a doozy!!!!!

OMG, you can say that I was hooked from the first page! I mean Ace is a badass female. Rhone is a hot alpha. Chemistry between them is undeniable. I knew that this book was a cliffhanger, but, I really need to know what happens. Oh, and I do not like Adam/Bulldog at all! Thanks Linzi for writing so incredible, that I am constantly on edge and need to get some answers.

This author was new to me and I read this book as part of a collection and absolutely loved it. There was hot sex, an intriguing storyline and plenty of action. Linzi Basset knows how to keep her readers attention. There were no hearts and flowers but there was a powerful romance and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Not quite sure what to make of it
I enjoyed the book but the crazy man ending just seemed odd and out of synch with the book. I'm sat here thinking wtf. They kept talking about how dangerous the bad guy was so why didn't they use the top class sniper and put a bullet in him first.?!

Perfect combination
I'm not a true fun of BDSM but I dont dislike it when there's a good story line. This story held the perfect mix, people in the bdsm world that also are working undercover to protect the worl America stand for. There sexual graphic scenes, mysteries, violence, betrayal, passion, and love the perfect combination.

confusing but good
Some of the scenes were really good but large parts of the story were unbelievable, especially the beginning meeting between Rhone and Samantha. Their whole story just seems so far fetched, it didn’t really make sense and it pulled me out of the story a bit. Ending on a cliffhanger sucked.

Have been waiting to read this series since finishing the Club Alpha Cove series. Love Rhone and Samantha. Such sass and spark. Can’t wait to read more about Keon either.

Ace (Samantha/Sandra) and Rhone - just wow I'm dying to know the final outcome was of this story. Lots of intrigue, and once you find out what Ace can do you'll be shocked.
