THIS BOOK DOES NOT END WITH A CLIFFHANGER! Governor Sexy is back! Catch up with Victor and Taylor as they battle to preserve their relationship since the return of Victor’s “late” wife. With her return, Rosemary brings a complex web of unspeakable treachery and deceit, not to mention a deadly female assassin. The task of unraveling the web is given to Detective Belladonna Devereaux’s, the beautiful, but tough as nails homicide detective. She works the case, solves the murders, and manages her uncontrollable attraction to Lucas Creed, the governor’s blindingly beautiful, very charismatic little brother. Bella is determined to get to the bottom of it all, or she will die trying. Love, friendship, romance, and devotion have nothing on the lies, murder, action, twists and turns that will invade this tale.
I have read every book this author has written and loved the Creed story too . However, whilst I enjoyed meeting some the of characters again, this story lacked something for me. I cannot really put my hand on it but perhaps there was too many POVs for me in this one not really sure. So whilst I enjoyed it, this book was not as good as the others in my opinion. I look forward to whatever this author writes next.
The two year wait is finally over! Though it's good, I would've preferred that it focused more on Victor and Taylor or that their story was resolved in Creed: Eyewitness. Alas, they have to share the spotlight with Bella and Lucas as well as a human sex trafficking ring storyline. Kena (Victor's Girl Friday) was an afterthought in this story and her name was not even mentioned in the same breath as Victor's brother Lincoln. Instead, it was intimated that he was paired with Why? I have no earthly idea since this person is
Can I just say ... Somebody needed to be FIRED! Taylor's house and garage was penetrated too many times for her to be the Governor's fiancee. As soon as they got engaged Taylor w/should have had around the clock security. No way should anybody have been able to GET TO HER!!!
The hospital scene ... seriously ... would that really be the visiting order?! I don't think so!
Living in Chicago I was greatly amused by the discussion of our controversial Beverage Tax that was successfully repealed and goes bye-bye on December 1.
All in all -- it's an entertaining short story, but I needed and wanted to see more of Victor and Taylor and even Kena with Lincoln. I especially liked that this story DID NOT leave us hanging except for the state of Maria's (Taylor's partner) marriage. This two book (so far) series could end here.
It's an abomination. Thank God for law enforcement that are relentless in their search to destroy it like Detective Belladonna Devereaux. This story was full of drama, suspense and mystery. We find out why Rosernary was ressurrected and who was after her. I was shocked at who it turned out to be. I was glad to see the occurrence of Jack and Victoria Storm in this book. I also enjoyed the banter between the brothers as well. The banter between the twins sisters was just as enjoyable and realistic for siblings.
Even though Bella lived up to her name as poison for the trafficking group, Belladonna also means pretty lady in Italian. That's the side that Lucas Creed was attracted to. He had to break down her walls of self doubt and confidence to get her to open up to him and that he did. I'm seeing another Creed book with them and possibly brother Lincoln in the future. I do love these brothers. Great book!
I really enjoyed the second part of the Creed series. I liked how the characters are all linked and tied together and I thought the first love scene between Bella and Lucas was one of the hottest I have ever read! I am serious. I am actually about to go back and read it again lol Very nice! I am enjoying this author's stuff a lot and will go on to read the Beautiful Prey series because Victoria Storm sounds amazing!! Love these strong Black female characters too. They're smart, sexy, no-nonsense AND can kick your ass. Very enjoyable!
WOW, Phoenix Daniels what a wonderful book. It was exciting from beginning to end. One of the best female fight scenes that I have read. This book also included one of my favorite couples from the Beautiful Prey series . The don't mess with me or mine Victoria Storm and Jack MF....ing Storm. These hot Alphas have met their perfect matches and their is more to come from those Creed brothers. They know how to treat their women and after meeting Momma Creed you know why. I could not put the book down. I Can't wait until the next installment
Yeah it was worth da wait. I swear when Rosemary was shopping at Tiffany I swore she was on some b.s. and part of this mess lol. I truly like the Creed series I haven't found my fav yet but tyme will tell. I thought Kenya was gonna hook up wit Linc, I'm hoping Dean gets a man and then there was 1. Hashanah.
Love the connection between Bella and Lucas. Bella tenacity in solving the case and protecting Taylor was outstanding. The animosity between Bella and Victoria was fierce. The storyline connected the Beautiful Prey storyline. The twist at the end was riveting. Looking forward to the next book!!!
I surely did enjoy this book but i was a little sad that Rosemary died all in all eberyone else got their happy ending. I hope ths other Creed brothers get to tell their story and i have to read Jack snd Victoria's story among others. Good book I'd highly recommend this series
I really enjoyed "Creed 2," but basically, Victor and Taylor's story was hijacked by Lucas and Bella's. My favorite part, however, was when Victoria beat the crap out of Taylor's would be assassin! On to book 3!!!
What I love about this author’s style is that she treats her characters like family. Once she introduces them, she manages to keep you posted on their lives even if they are no longer the primary focus of the story. And I think that she accomplishes this with admirable continuity so that I don’t feel an interruption to the flow of the story.
For those who want steamy sex scenes, she delivers. However, the story also contains enough twists and turns so that it has more than enough meat to keep your mind stimulated outside of those scenes.
My only complaint about this particular book is a political one.
Luxury taxes on soda are an extremely good thing for the health of a country’s citizens. While it definitely boosts tax revenue, that is a short term boost. Numerous studies show that boost is short lived as people change their behavior to drink less sugary options, thereby decreasing the amount of revenue from the tax.
However, what isn’t short lived is the long term effect on public health; an effect that substantially reduces obesity (childhood and adult) and it’s associated diseases like type2 diabetes which in turn decreases the healthcare costs for programs like Medicare and Medicaid.
Many countries have implemented a health tax on soda - as they have with cigarettes - with Mexico being the latest, and they have seen dramatic changes to the improvement of healthy behavior in their communities. America’s reluctance in following suit is based on bad info from Lobbyists who don’t have our best interests in mind.
This books wasn’t what I expected. Beautiful Prey 1-3, and the first Creed books were captivating and hard to let go. Beautiful Prey 4 and Creed 2? Nope! Some parts of this book were funny. Other parts I wondered if I had missed something.
**spoilers
For instance, the garage scene right after the party. Tell me WHY Victoria and Bella we’re both just magically showed up to save (lol I don’t even remember the supposed heroine’s first name) Montgomery? An assassin sneaks up on a detective and she’s save by two friends that hate each other? No explanation as how they came just in time or how Victoria just took off without even staying around to help.
I’m sorry but Bella and Victoria with the high school drama? The language... bae bae...nope! There’s even one part where the characters were turned around.
All in all it felt rushed, jumbled without a deep plot to really sink into.
I am torn on this book. I was excited to read this because I loved the first book. I loved everything about Victor and Taylor and that carried over to this book. The problem came from the new couple who were supposed to be the focus of this book, Lucas and Bella. To me their chemistry was kind of lackluster and Lucas seemed like a less interesting version of Victor, and half the time I was annoyed with Bella. She really had no depth, she was just frustratingly difficult half of the time. This caused me to kind of skim over some of their parts in the book because I just wasn’t that interested in them. Overall, the story was good. I enjoyed the mystery and how it flowed and it was still a fun read, I just think that after reading the first book and loving it so much, then jumping right into this one I was a little disappointed. Still a decent read but definitely a step down from the previous book.
Great series with characters that are spun off from the Beautiful Prey series, who also make appearances in this series. The first book focuses on Taylor, a Chicago police officer and Victor, the governor of Illinois. They are hot and steamy! I really loved the way Victor respected Taylor and wanted to protect her but at the same time knew she could handle herself. The second book focuses on Bella, a friend of Taylor's and a cop, and Lucas, Victor's brother. This book has more mystery in it, a whodunit so while there is not romance in the book, there is less attention on Bella and Lucas' relationship. The end was hokey and unbelievable but I still have it 4 stars because the characters are great and the book is generally well written. I hope the next book focuses more on the couple.
What do you do when you find three dead females in an abandoned house? What do you do when you find a headless corpse? You have to solve these crimes and the others on your plate. Bella Deveroux is a detective on CPD. Herr bestie is Taylor Montgomery who is engaged to the Govenor - Victor Creed. This is a continuation to Creed-Eyewitness with some twists and turns thrown in. No one would have guessed a friend of Taylor's from the police force would fall for her soon to be brother in law..but it happens. Old rivalries and issues spark some angry words and tense moments in this book. Even someone who was thought dead comes to life again. Great read, page turner. I was unable to give this 5 stars because of the numerous typos and errors. Looking forward to any additional books about the other Creed brothers
What saddened me the most is Bella's friendship with Victoria. It wasn't Victoria fault that she killed Bella's cousin Robert. Victoria had to protect her family even if it meant, taking someone's life to survive the ordeal she was subjected to. Dean did a number on Bella. It seemed every man that she came across she compared to Dean. Dean should have discussed his battles before he married Bella. At least it would have spared her feelings. You have to love Lucas, he takes no prisoners when it comes down to going after who he wants. The man went head first without stumbling. He's one true alpha male. I didn't like Rosemary sudden demise. Her father was a monster, he deserved his. I couldn't comprehend why a father could be so hateful towards his only daughter/child. He is/was one sick mfer.
This was a wonderful conclusion and introduction story. We finally find out how Victor's wife came back from the dead and what was the real cause of the hatred between Belladonna and Victoria. We met Lucas Creed up close and personal like as he chased Belladonna. They added twist of finding the was a connection between the Russians that kidnapped the Storms, Taylor being shot and Victor's "deceased" wife blew me away. I enjoyed the intrigue and following Belladonna as she solved the homicides and the human trafficking ring. Phoenix Daniels did a wonderful job with telling this complex story.
I really enjoyed the storyline but the typos prevented me from giving it a 5 star rating.
One clicked AND read in one day, yup it was THAT good. I loved how everything as tied up into a neat bow and how all the questions (well, my questions) from book one were answered. Vic is still kicking but and taking names too. I am hoping this is not the last we readers will be seeing of these hot bada$$ chicks. Now we need babies for Bella and Lucas and Victor and Taylor.....Oh and what was Taylor's sisters deal about her fiance? Well I guess I do have a question or two. Anyway Excellent work Ms. Phoenix. I highly recommend this series and also the Beautiful Prey series some of the characters do overlap.
Exciting, drama filled, suspenseful, sexy and HOTT! 🔥🔥
It was a long wait but was it worth it. Taylor and Victor gets the surprise of their life when Victor’s late wife returns from the dead. As it turns out the person behind Taylor’s attempted assassination is still a mystery and the body count keeps rising. Bella has her hands full but Lucas creed wants to fill his bed with her delectable body. There are so many twists and turns and as Bella digs deeper into the case her findings are astounding and the danger is much closer to home than she ever imagined. What a ride and what a web.
Wow. I hope this series continues. I loved Taylor and Victor. They were perfect for each other. I also loved Bella and Lucas. An amazing story with plenty of action to keep story interesting. When Rosemary came back from dead, I thought she was going to cause trouble for Taylor and Victor, i.e., break them up. She ended up as a victim of her father's treachery. I actually felt sorry for her. In first story, I thought there might be a budding romance with Linc and Victor's assistant Kenda. Now it looks like sparks flew between Donna and Linc. This series has it all. I hope it continues. Bravo.
Taylor and Victor’s lives are thrown for a loop when Rosemary, Victor’s supposedly dead first wife, reappears. Belladonna Deveraux is put on the case, but not before Lucas Creed sets his eyes on her. Can Bella catch the new killer in time?
I like that we don’t completely leave Victor and Taylor’s story, but I don’t think we really got to know Lucas, or Bella and Lucas as a couple. I could have done with them having more of their own story.
Not everyone needed to die, but I understand Phoenix Daniels making the decision to just not drag certain things out. Ultimately, I liked the story.
If you like a good mystery and great smut, then this is for you.
This was done in Phoenix Daniels fashion, just spectacular! In keeping with the first story this one picks right up smack dab in the middle of the action.I love that we get to visit with old friends and the writer ties the lose ends up.The chemistry between the characters as always leaps from the pages and you get the feeling of being with old friends. This was just a great story,a wonderful follow-up and a great way to tie up lose ends and keep you on the edge thinking you would like to see more from these characters.Just an excellent way to fill your time.
Bella is so great...a woman who possesses loyalty strength intelligence love persistence and humor.
But through all of that an emotional loss has hindered her ability to trust.
Lucas wants everything with her but she keeps running. He will take every opportunity to block her escape and convince her to focus on what they can be together if she could just allow herself to trust.
This is an interesting and close knit group. I can't wait to see what they do next.
AWESOME!!!! This book had me on the edge. VICTOR & TAYLOR are still so sexy, sweet and oh so in love. Rosemary took me by surprise and was not as bad as you would think. She meant well. BELLADONNA & LUCAS, well these two are funny. BELLA knows darn well she is feeling that man, so she needed to stop playing herself.
I wish I had read the Beautiful Prey series before reading this but I didnt 5have an idea that some of the characters would revisit and be background in this story. Which its still a great stand alone. Now I must get ready for book 3
This story had everything you needed in a fantastic read, it had love story, passion, mad hot sex scenes, suspense, an assassin, hot fight scene and humour. The whole package with very desirable and swoon worthy alpha males ! A real page turner that you will enjoy every word written. Ms Daniels has excelled herself with this very enjoyable and entertaining story and I think there's room for more from the Creed brothers.
A fantastic story, love the plot. It has all the elements for a storyline that keeps you turning the page. Greed, betrayal, drama, love, loyalty, suspense, revenge and retribution. Layered characters, strong intelligent sassy women, and the sexy, possessive, protective men that love them. Off the chart chemistry that sizzles into a blazing inferno. This book is a great ending to this story. I recommend reading these books!
I couldn't put this book down all day. This book is a page turner from the beginning to the end. I loved how the author addressed some difficult topics in this book with the main characters as well as secondary characters that I believe we all love. The chemistry between Victor and Taylor is a sizzling attraction from the start. With the added bonus of Belladonna and Lucas, it made the book even more engaging. I hope this series doesn't come to an end.
It was my first time reading this author and I loved her style! I'm always looking for stories with strong heroines and I can't be disappointed what Taylor and Bella. They heros were very very fine! Really, right amount of action, love, sex and intrigue. The only 2 negative things were typos and the lack of explanation with Collier's murder and the Black Widow's motive. But all in all, it was a very good series.
OMG ! At the end of the first book I thought Victor's suppos-to-be-dead wife was the one who shot Taylor! This book was full of humor & action! Taylor's loyal friends give the Black Widow a good ol fashion beat down !! These ladies are fiercely protective of each other just like all the sexy alphas that make up the Creed brothers! Glad that Bella finds real love with Lucas Creed ! Will Bella's twin sister find her soul mate in book 3? Luv this series!!!
