99 books66 followersDr. Nihar Ranjan Gupta (Bangla: নীহাররঞ্জন গুপ্ত) was an Indian dermatologist and a popular Bengali novelist. He is the creator of the fictional detective character Kiriti Roy.
Gupta came from a prestigious Kabiraj family of Itna village under Lohagara police station, in the district of Jessore, presently in the Narail district of Bangladesh. During the Second World War, Gupta served as an army doctor and was posted in different parts of the world. He was posted in Chittagong, Burma and Egypt. After the war, he completed post-graduation in medicine from the United Kingdom, specializing in dermatology. On his return he joined the Calcutta Medical College. In his career as a physician he was associated with several hospitals in India. After the Partition, his family permanently migrated to Kolkata in 1947.
As a child Gupta always dreamed of becoming a writer. He once went to Shantiniketan to seek the blessings of Rabindranath Tagore and took his autograph. At the age of eighteen he composed his first novel, Rajkumar. During his stay in England he developed a keen interest in detective stories and met Agatha Christie. After coming back to India, he composed his first detective novel, Kalo Bhramar [কালো ভ্রমর] where his launched his detective character Kiriti Roy [কিরীটী রায়].

The story is amazing loved and enjoyed every moment. So the story is based in Srilanka a popular pearl and Rubber businessman Mr. Chidambrom was abducted from his room and police found a letter painted a bloody dragon . Kirti and his friends went to Cylon to solve the mystery. And again Mr. Sundor Das was found dead in his room .There was no wound ,no scar but they saw there was a very tiny bite mark around his neck and on top of that from Das's skylights, a thin , strong Reshmi string was seen and same a strange, addicting but disgusting smelly letter with same bloody dragon art painted was found from his room like Mr.Chidamborom's house. Then later found out it was a dangerous Chinese scientist Mr.Wang who used to kill and abduct rich people for money and has fled from China and is now killing rich people in SriLanka. He used a bat, red poisonous spider and dangerous tree's flower that has a strange addicting disgusting smell which can make an animal blood thirsty. His next target was Mr Dibraj and he successfully killed him and then committed suicide. Also the police inspector Mr.Ramiya and Chidambrom were also killed due to the poisonous gas.
Actually this whole story is a perfect mystery thriller detective story for me with the hint of a love story. Love story made the story 10x more cute and interesting.The love was brewing in the air as soon as Kiriti saw Mr. Dibraj's one and only daughter Krishna. This made me blush and giggle so hard and I was kicking my feet. Because I wasn't expecting this 😭. The story did not make me at all the thrill and mystery was on point. And frequent eye contact with each other had me on the floor. I really thought they needed to get married ASAP just for the plot and I also thought that Kiriti will save Mr debraj and ask for a hand for Krishna but unfortunately Me. Devraj died . But in the end Kirti silently proposed to Krishna. that scene was so well written my gosh ❤️🩹 . They said that they like each other without saying it. Hopefully we'll get to see them together again in future stories ...

My 2nd read Kiriti Ray story and its from Kiriti Omnibas Part 1 and this story is based on Sri Lanka and there he met the lady Krishna whom he married later in "Dainir Bashi" and whose father got abducted and murdered. Catching the criminal Dr. WANG was very very interesting..you've to read it for that.
