Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

Oh my goodness, I really enjoyed some of these stories!

Particularly:

Tiana’s Ghost (Princess and the Frog)
Scariest Day Ever (Monsters Inc)
Tricky Treats (Wreck It Ralph)
Marmalade Moon Night (Tangled)
And Happy Holler-Ween! (Alice in Wonderland)

They were very cute little Halloween stories. The Wreck It Ralph one was my favorite I think. It was so original!

Lots of fun and slightly spooky Disney character stories perfect for Halloween!
Each story features a favorite Disney character, ranging from newer favorites like Rapunzel from Tangled to classics like Pinocchio. Each story takes about five minutes to read which makes it the perfect bedtime book for little listeners!

My sister got me this book for Christmas and it was very cute and fun. We read some of the stories together (even thought we are both adults) and we had a lot of fun doing it.

Disney just sent a copy of this book for our review, and I'm so glad they did! We've had for four days, and my kids have been reading (and begging me to read) non-stop! A fun Halloween treat for the whole family :)

This was super cute.

I LOVED the Princess and the Frog story, and that it included Charlotte. I missed Naveen though. I would absolutely read/watch more of PATF with ghosts in New Orleans. Even as a kid’s show, it would be really cool. 🐸👻

The Monsters Inc one was also really clever, and it got me thinking about if September/October are harder months to get the scares because kids get used to it/do they even go out on Halloween!? And also when do kids stopped being scared by the monsters? Is it a cut off age, or personal to everyone? I have many questions about the MI world!!!

My other favourite was Wreck it Ralph because a hidden/forgotten Halloween level of Sugar Rush makes TOTAL SENSE and I want to know Boo Bartley’s backstory. Why was he exiled!? How did they find him and get everyone in for the party? 🍬🍭

There’s some great ideas for Disney+ shows here, I’ll tell you that. 😂 The rest were okay. Pretty short and to the point stories for little ones to grasp. Cute to read throughout the month, and I’m glad I got to it, after buying it in 2018. 🎃 Also I loved all the illustrations!

Okay so normally I don’t include kids’ books read while working in my goodreads reading challenge, but I had to read almost TWO HUNDRED PAGES of this awful, dry writing, so I think I deserve to count it.

What is it with Disney books and being the absolute worst? They’re so excessively long-winded (I’m looking at you, Tarzan and Peter Pan Disney books that these children also made me read) and just not creative at all. I thought these stories would be fine because they were new stories (rather than just a painfully boring book version of a good movie), but nope. I was miserable for every single second that I had to read this book. I felt like my brain was drying up and was going to blow right out of my ears as dust.

Moral of the story: this book is NOT WORTH IT. Even to make kids happy.

Next time I’ll send them to go get “Edwina the Dinosaur Who Didn’t Know She Was Extinct” or “Extra Yarn” or something else that’s actually good.

Every 5-Minute book I've encountered is ghostwritten fluff that knows it doesn't need to try hard because the cover alone is enough to sell it. For some reason this book mildly breaks that mold - I think because the author(s) had to put on their thinking caps to figure out how Halloween customs can semi-anachronistically fit into these varied worlds and time periods and cultures.

This has several stories in this book about Halloween. Most are from th3 more modern Disney movies. Most I would say would be for the older readers an$ not younger (preschool or younger) these may scare them. But for the older they will enjoy them

I read these stories for bedtime time with my oldest daughter. She really enjoyed (as a 2 year old) the sparkles on the cover and vibrant colors. As Halloween stories go these were not scary for young readers.

Most of these stories were just "Okay" and didn't flow well. They were more Halloween adjacent than actual Halloween stories. My daughter enjoyed it, but I think we will be cherry picking our favorites in years to come rather than reading the whole book again.

All of these five minute story books are so cute. So far all of them that we've checked out from the library my son has enjoyed, and they are just the right length to enjoy a few before bed.

It’s really good. A young kid (about 4-8 years old) would probably enjoy it. A kid would probably get into the Halloween spirit after having read it. Good Halloween book to read to your kid.
