Brandon Frost has it made. Dream job. Nice car. Fancy house. Until one Black Friday, the defense attorney finds himself standing before a judge, while his future is decided by the one woman who knows how to bring him to his knees: Noel. His ex, and the assistant district attorney on his case.
Noel Winters knew that facing her ex again, after five years, would be difficult. That’s why she chooses the ultimate punishment for a man like Brandon Frost: playing Santa at a local community center for kids. Unfortunately for Noel, she finds herself right smack dab in the middle of Brandon’s punishment, playing Mrs. Claus.
Soon, the thin line between love and hate begins to blur. What happens when a once-dead relationship starts to rekindle? Will Mrs. Claus be able to trust her heart with the one man who has already destroyed it? Will Santa convince the Mrs. that love is worth fighting for?
*This 25,000 word Novella was originally published in November 2017 as part of the Mrs. Claus anthology.
Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.
Exes and Ho Ho Ho's is a novella by the very talented Lacey Black. I have read all of her books and loved each and every one of them. This story is not part of any of her other books. Thank you, Lacey for giving us new characters to love!
Brandon Frost is not a fan of the holiday season. Noel Winters is one of its biggest fans even though it reminds her of heartbreak. It's been five years since the day that changed their path. Five years since they heard each other's voice. Five years since they felt that pull. Five years since they were happy. And now, they had their chance to say their piece and move on.
Noel hates him. He knows it. More importantly he knows he deserves it. He thought he was over her but seeing her again has lit him up like a Christmas tree. Over the years he let woman in his bed but never in his heart. Was she the reason why he never felt a connection to anyone else? He knew the answer and it was time for him to man the fuck up.
Why does he have to look so good and be so... him? Arrogant, smooth, and smell so delicious. Damn him. She hates him and now his punishment is her punishment. The next five Saturdays were not theirs anymore. They belong to Mr. & Mrs. Claus'. The jolliest married couple ever and they have to pretend to be them. Can they make it through this holiday season together?
I loved this story! It's so much fun, flirty, and full of holiday joy. Christmas, love, and second chances? The trifecta of hope. It's a short book but it's full of heart, laughter, and flirty banter.
Quotes:
“I don’t recall you ever wearing anything this sexy back in school.”
“Oh, Mrs. Claus, you have no idea just how naughty I am.”
“Stop looking at me like that or I’ll forget about trying to be a gentleman,” he growls.
When lawyer Brandon Frost lands himself in some legal trouble, the last thing he expects is to see his ex again... as his opposing counsel...
Noel Winters knows what a Christmas hater her ex is, and has the perfect punishment worked out for his assigned community service. And when she just can't keep herself away from witnessing him playing Santa to hordes of children, she finds herself ending up right by his side, as Mrs. Claus.

I absolutely loved this second chance romance, with it's festive Christmas backdrop and a fun love/hate scenario that fueled this story and made it incredibly entertaining!
Brandon and Noel haven't seen each other in the five years since they broke up... on Christmas Eve. They were once everything to each other, but when their relationship crashed and burned, they were left with nothing in the aftermath.
When Noel's brilliant punishment for Brandon ends up pairing the two of them together for the remainder of the holiday season, it isn't long before their old feelings come back to haunt them, and fan the flames of their never extinguished attraction to each other.
This was such a fun Christmas novella! Superbly sexy and sweet, I adored Brandon and Noel's second chance, five years in the making. From the past hurts that they never got over, to the love they still share (but aren't quite ready to admit), this novella was a quick and fabulous read that is not to be missed!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

This was a fun quick read that is sure to get you in to the holiday spirit. Lacey Black takes Brandon Frost who acts like the Grinch and turns him into Father Christmas just in time for a Christmas miracle.
Noel and Brandon have great chemistry together so it's no surprise that they rekindle their relationship, especially since neither one of them got over the other even after being apart for five years. If you are looking for something to get you in the holiday mood I would recommend Exes and Ho Ho Ho's, it's fun and sexy quick read that will surely do the trick. Happy Reading!!!
Novellas are always rather tricky. The stories are a lot shorter, so being able to connect with the characters and feel like the story is complete doesn't always happen. Exes and Ho Ho Hos is such a fun novella and Lacey Black had no problem making me love these characters. Even though I wouldn't say no to reading more about Brandon and Noel, this story felt complete.
Brandon didn't have a good day and was not expecting to have to play Santa. Noel thought it was the perfect revenge after the Christmas Eve she doesn't want to think of anymore. Never did she think she would end up playing Mrs. Claus.
Exes and Ho Ho Hos lets us get to know these characters pretty quickly and I love that we learn more about their past as the novella goes on. We don't get all the facts at once and that made this very enjoyable for me. Noel loves Christmas and romance books, which makes her a character I can definietly relate to.
This novella is filled with humor, romance, holiday magic and it ended leaving me with a cozy warm feeling. Just like I want a holiday story to be.
God how I love second chance romance. This one was a great way to spend my evening curled up on a couch with a glass of wine.
5 years is a long time to stay separated but I loved how even when so much time has passed both of them were still struggling to forget each other. Even though it was a quick read it didn't feel rushed. The chemistry was at a all time high and when they (finally) found their way back to one another - it was pure Xmas magic. I have yet to read a Lacey Black book that I didn't love.

Great holiday story! Absolutely loved it!! What would you do if you were given a second chance to love the one your meant to be with? Brandon & Noel were very much in love, till one night he got scared and walked away. Now 5 years later they are face to face, and his heart is still craving hers. Follow their story and see if they can get past the past and rekindle what they once had! Lacey wrote a beautiful holiday story, don't miss out on this one! 5 stars!!
Lacy Black is a new author 2 me ... loved this cover ...totally what drew me into wanting to read it. I love a great Christmas read. lighthearted Christmas novella. second chance romance. short and sweet. I really am glad to have read it and I know I will read more from Lacy soon enough. such a fun quick read.
This was short and sweet but it sort of made me mad too! The H supposedly never stopped loving the h yet he slept with anything coming and going? Yeah..no! While I appreciate the fact that the author actually had the h sleep with someone else during the separation, did the ONE person have to be a closet gay guy? Couldn’t she have had one good experience without the H? Then there’s the scene where they are getting ready go sleep together and she has condoms when he forgets his wallet and he is jealous? Then the h makes a point to say that they “ok, they’re still good” and goes on to explain they are two years old and the H is happy? Yeah I bet it hasn’t been two years for him!🙄

Exes and Ho Ho Ho's is Lacey Black's newest book. It's a second chance novella and it's Christmas themed. Lacey, Christmas and second chances. Three of my favorite things! Even though this is a novella is packs all the punches of a full length Lacey novel. I laughed, teared up, got hot and bothered and smiled. A chance meeting after five years puts Brandon and Noel face to face. She's about to hand out some tasty retribution in the form of a forcing Brandon to participate in Christmas. In the ultimate way. Can you say Santa? Little does she know, she's about to be saddled to his sleigh as the Mrs. She thought she hated him all these years, but she's realizing he's changed. Brandon thought he'd moved on, but seeing Noel dressed as sexy Mrs. Claus showed him there's only ever been her. Can Brandon and Noel make it through their time together without ending up on the Naughty List? Does a second chance at Christmas Eve make Brandon vow to never let her go again? I loved this story! It's short, sweet, sexy and funny. There's garland, Christmas lights, cheer and a sexy Santa. What starts out as a mandatory stint as St. Nick ends up being the best thing to ever happen to Brandon and Noel.
When I was searching for another holiday read, because let's face it, I'm addicted, I remember seeing Exes and Ho Ho Ho's and decided to pick it up. Let me tell you, I was so glad I did. This will not be the last book I read of hers.
“Not today, Satan,” she growls. “It’s Santa.” “Same letters. You’re definitely more Satan than Santa.”
This book is a second-chance, enemy-to-lover romance about a defense lawyer (Brandon) who was sentenced to community service for "accosting an elderly woman." Which was mostly a misunderstanding and a funny one at that. And who was the lovely attorney who helped prosecute him? That's right, his ex and only love, Noel.
She knows where to hit him in the ornaments (that's code for balls) and gets him 5 weekends playing Santa at a community center. While watching him serve his community sentence, she gets herself roped into playing Mrs.
Do they find they're way back to each other or is five years worth of hurt too much to overcome? Guess you'll have to find out!
This lighthearted Christmas novella is sure to put you in the holiday mood. Brandon and Noel's chemistry jumps off the page. Exes for the past five years doesn't seem to have extinguished the deep emotions between them, but hate is an emotion too, right? As ADA, Noel is in a position to choose the sentence Brandon gets for a misunderstood situation involving an old woman and a flattened Barbie doll. Having him do community service playing Santa seems like the best revenge, until he coerces her to help. Passions run high and Noel sees more in the man who broke her heart than she ever imagined. I laughed out loud and will NEVER be able to listen to "Bohemian Rhapsody" again without thinking of this story. The writing is concise and moves the story well. The characters are likable and make the reader root for their HEA. Ms. Black's humor shows through and her sexy scenes are HOT. I hope she writes another holiday themed book in the future because I so enjoyed this one.
If you are looking for a second chance romance along with a bit of Christmas in it, then Exes and Ho Ho Ho’s is the book you want to add to your TBR list. This is a great weekend read, while curled up on the couch, and one that can easily be read in one day. It had the perfect mix of Christmas, rediscovering love for one another as well as just enough sexiness to keep you warm if you know what I mean.
I love when a couple gets a second chance at love and I really think that Brandon and Noel have that chance I this book. Now am I saying that they are able to work it all out and kiss under the mistletoe? Well you know you have to read the book to find out, but I will say I think you will enjoy the banter and chemistry between them.
I am not usually a huge fan of holiday themed books, but this was one that I really enjoyed and can easily recommend.
I really enjoyed Brandon and Noel’s sunshine grinch, enemies to lovers, second chance holiday novella. Brandon is a defense attorney who hates Christmas and kids. Noel is a new ADA and his ex. Cue the hilarity, heart growing, and world shifting revelations when an incident requires Brandon to perform community service playing Santa for children. Lots of children. Despite the book being short, the story included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, steamy scenes, real life issues, imperfect characters, laughter, painful pasts, redemption, and all the love. The courtroom scene at the beginning gave me a bit of an eye twitch since this is not how the court process works but I chalked it up to poetic license for effect and enjoyed the book as written.
Brandon gets himself in quite a pickle as he’s sitting at the courthouse awaiting his hearing. As a lawyer, of course he will defend himself. His friend will hear the case and he can go home. But that’s not the story. He looks up, a judge that hates him walks in and the Asst DA is non other than his ex he broke up with years ago. He’s doomed!
And doomed he was. The judge not the ADA didn’t bother even listening and now for the next five weekends, he finds himself playing Santa. But not all is bad as he somewhat blackmails Noel into playing the Mrs. Claud right along side him. As they spend time together, both of them realize that their love has never gone away.
Such a sweet reconnection between the two. Brandon’s apologize was so heartfelt and beautiful. Great Christmas story.
This book got me ready for some more Christmas romances! This was my first Christmas read of the season and I loved it!
Exes and Ho, Ho, Ho’s is a novella with some sweet heat. There was definitely some hilarious one-liners too that had me laughing. This is a great twist on exes coming back together. I mean who doesn’t love a good holiday romance??
Noel and Brandon were a perfect match to play off one another. You could tell halfway through that Brandon and Noel were going to fall back into bed together, but it was perfect. There was plenty of heart in this one and that warm and fuzzy feeling when they got there happy ending.
This is Noel and Brandon’s story. Brandon had it all, but one wrong move has him standing in front of a judge. Now his ex is deciding his fate. Noel knows just the punishment for Brandon. Making him play Santa to the community center should be good. Only problem is she must play Mrs. Claus. The passion flares but is it because of the closeness or something that could lead to a future? Can they really trust each other with there hearts or is one still out to get the other?
I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
Brandon has done the crime and now he must do the time, but he never expected that the Prosecutor would be his ex, Noel, and that she would use his dislike of Christmas against him and that his community service would mean he would be playing Santa.
It’s been five years since they separated, and she now has her chance for payback but it’s when she becomes Mrs. Clause to his Santa that things begin to get interesting.
Sweet and sexy this a second chance at love filled with humor and hot chemistry that will definitely put you in the holiday spirit. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Noel Winters never thought she’d lay eyes on the one who broke her heart. Finding herself stuck in between a rock and hard spot, she reluctantly agrees to play Mrs. Claus to his Santa.
Brandon Frost doesn’t like Christmas and likes kids even less. When he finds himself serving the community thanks to a vengeful judge, Brandon can’t believe his luck in having another opportunity to be with the one he walked away from.
This is a cute and quick holiday read. I love Ms. Black’s works and and was excited to read this one, too. I love her ability to be able to develop characters and her world building is completely realistic.
I highly recommend this story for a small escape from reality.
This is a second chance romance story. I loved it. I love how Brandon realizes he made a mistake years ago and is set on making it right. Noel was hurt by Brandon 5 years ago and now has the chance to get even.
Noel faces Brandon in court on his own case. Noel gets him senteced to community service and knows just what to make him do.
I loved the chemistry between these two. Can Noel forgive Brandon for all the hurt he caused her or is the pain to much? This is the first time I have read this author. I want to read more.
I loved this book! So sweet, so sexy, so romantic and very heartwarming!!!!!! I especially enjoyed the updates of their lives at the end of the story ..... They were beautiful and a great way to finish off such a wonderful love story. As I was reading it I was playing Christmas music and snuggling under a throw next to my dog and it was the most perfect book to be reading on a cold winter night just before Thanksgiving!!!! I highly recommend this book ... You will have a smile on your face and your heart will be touched... Guaranteed!!!!!
This was my first Christmas read this year and I it put me right in the spirit! I enjoy novellas as much as I enjoy romances since I don't always have the time to read longer books, so bear in mind that this is a short read. I love second chance romances and Noel and Brandon were a perfect match. It was so much more than I ever expected. Sexy, funny, romantic… Brandon made me SWOOOOOON!!!! He was a hot, protective, kind, loving... perfect for the feisty Noel! If you have some time to kill and want a quick read this is exactly the kind of book you're searching for!! I highly recommend it!
Short and sweet this novella is all about second chances. Brandon broke Noel's heart 5 years ago and now she's gonna make him suffer by playing Santa for 5 weeks knowing he hates Christmas and doesn't like kiddos. Y'all these two are hot messes bickering and it takes a minute for them to apologize to the other but when they do its super sweet and they are inseperable. Even get a glimpse of the future.
Clearly I love Laceys books. So it was no surprise that I loved this one just as much. Great character development and such a fun story! I realize this was a novella but I hated how short it was necause I wanted more!!!! Maybe we can get a second novella? This book is about family, love and most importantly forgiveness and healing. I loved this story so much.
Grab this book for a quick, fun and Christmas read! You won't regret it.
This was my first Lacey Black book in a long while and it was such a fun, flirty Christmas story to jump back in with. The author set such an intriguing premise with the pompous Brandon Frost ending up serving community service as Santa Claus, and Noel Winters conned into playing Mrs. Claus. There were so many feelings throughout the book it read like a full-length novel versus a novella, really a great story of second chances. Loved it!
This was such a great story surrounded by Christmas. Brandon a lawyer finds himself in court and his punishment is to do community service as Santa, oh did o tell you he hates Christmas. Well every Santa needs a Mrs. Claus and enters Noel the one he let get away. These next 5 weeks will test them and will show them that true love never dies.
Another H who brakes the h heart but never falls out of love…oh but in the five years apart is a manwhore but it’s ok because he never gives away his heart. The h is the one devestated and suffers. She had one sex encounter during that whole 5 years and of course he prefers guys. Not a feel good story at all…

What a great second chance romance centered around Christmas. Can I ask for more? Heck no!! Second chance romance and Christmas. Those are two of my favorite things! Ms. Black delivered a perfectly wrapped gift for Christmas revolving around Brandon and Noel. And I loved every single word of it!
This was a fun, fast holiday read. It's also a great second chance romance. It made me laugh, smile, and cry. It's a book that will get you right into the holiday spirit. The epilogue was so cute and perfect for Brandon and Noel. I would highly recommend reading this one!
