E.E. Holmes grew up near Boston, Massachusetts, where she spent the majority of her childhood reading books. She read them almost constantly, and as a result, perfected the art of walking and reading at the same time, a skill she can still perform to this day with remarkably few instances of falling on her face. She also wrote many books and poems in blank books and on the backs of legal pads her father brought home from the office. They remain some of her finest work.

She soon learned to love literature of the dramatic persuasion, and earned a B.A. in theater from the College of the Holy Cross. After graduation, she set out to prove that her degree was, in fact, not useless, and worked as a principal actor in a summer Shakespeare festival and as a theater teacher, directing over thirty productions and numerous workshops for youth and high school students. She spent several years as the theater director at Wakefield High School where she also taught English literature and public speaking. It was in her classroom that she discovered the horrible truth: a disturbingly large percentage of high school students hate to read. This revelation devastated and bewildered her. She decided she wanted to do something about it, and thus she started work on her first young adult novel, Spirit Legacy: Book 1 of the Gateway Trilogy, which has gone on to win awards from Chanticleer Book Reviews and Media and The Independent Publisher Book Awards. She is also the author of three one act plays, one of which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

E.E. Holmes lives in central Massachusetts with her husband, two children, and small, but surprisingly loud dog. When not writing, she enjoys watching unhealthy amounts of British television, procrastinating, and rediscovering her favorite books from her childhood all over again with her kids.

I want to know more about Jess and Hannah lives the story needs to be longer I don't like the books to end.

I'm a seventh year old woman who has heart failure now and books are my favorite time to rest and go to a different world.
This is a great book for any one who would like an adventure.

Awakening of the Seer is book 3 in The Gateway Trackers series, and continues with Jess and Hannah at Fairhaven awaiting the continuation of the Airechtas, which was delayed due to the Shattering. Jess finds that her psychic drawings that occur while she’s sleeping, maybe more than just her gift as a Muse and has her more than a little concerned. Hannah has decided to accept the nomination for the Council seat and is trying to figure out how she can beat Marion’s manipulations of other clans.

Hannah takes more of a backseat in this story while Jess is thrust into many complications she’d rather forget. There are some definite wins and losses that make this is a good read in the series. There were many different storylines occurring and some could have used a little more attention to detail, as they seemed almost inconsequential when in reality they had importance to the story and future books.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Riveting and Entertaining

Often times, 3rd books try too hard or repeat patterns that make me tired. However, this book stood on solid ground and kept me focused throughout. It also surprised me in many ways. I highly recommend this series, this book, and this author.

For those who like reading about the mythticle

I chose 5 stars because I could not stop reading until I reached the end. The entire series of 6 reads are just as good. I read all of them one right after an other. In fact I can't wait for the next one to come out in spring.

I read books 1&2 of this spin-off series just under a year ago (and the original trilogy not too long before that) ... then I had to wait, because the next book wasn't out yet. I didn't have it on my radar (published Nov2017) and just noticed it this month. Still part of the KindleUnlimited(Prime)program, so I was able to borrow it from the lending library for May.

It was so great to slip back into this world. Just the ease of the conversation, the humor (mostly Milo there, although Jess and her snarky self also would make me laugh). This brought back a major storyline from book 1 "Whispers of the Walker" dealing with Irina again. I wasn't sure how well I remembered the happenings from a year ago, but most everything ended up coming back easily enough.

Happy to see that just as I finished up this book, the next book has become available, so I'll be going right on to read it after! Talk about timing! As I have been listening to more and more audiobooks ... I'm wondering if MY brain's pronunciation of Durupinen and Caomhnoir are even close to what the audiobook says. Alas, I'm not sure if I'll ever know ...

Having JUST finished the book, I must say... Oh my god.... I hate the Traveler Clan. Any book that can evoke that much emotion, good or bad, is a good book in my eyes.

However this book kinda felt like it was two shorter books melded together. Everything that happened with the council and everything with the travelers seemed disjointed when put together. I liked both storyline, but it didn't seem to "flow". Somewhat predictable/foreshadowed/inevitable cliff hanger ending but I'm still a sucker for it anyways.

I picked up this series with all of the books up until this one already written and I've read them all within a few weeks.... I want to read the next one 😫

This is book 3 of the Gateway Tracker series. Jess discovers her seer abilities. This book tells more about the Durupinen politics. Jessica and Hannah discover more about how they can utilize this system to the best of their abilities. Some people pass. Some people help them and some do not. Some become friends on the surface. There is growth for Hannah and Jessica and some heart breaks too. A promise if fulfilled with heartbreaking consequences.

Awesome series

I have read 6 of this series and I can’t get enough. The characters are so real. You love some, you hate some, you empathize with some and you want all to be well. Witty, snarky, and really keeps you on the edge of your seat. Will be sad when it ends.

Great Reading

I truly cannot express enough my enjoyment of this series of books. E. E. Holmes is a fantastic writer of some incredibly engrossing books, & this one was no exception. She has mastered all of the main characters by this point, but they continue to grow in ways that surprise me, even on this, the 6th book I've read in this series. The secondary characters are equally as vivid & endearing, the slow burn romance realistically sweet & awkward by turns. This book I felt was particularly well done, as narrator Jess experiences an alarming new angle of her Durupinen powers & finds herself trying to understand & change the fate of a friend while also striving to fulfill an important promise made to another reoccurring character in a previous vokune (I couldn't have been more happy with how Irina's story wrapped up, as well as the overall treatment of her character throughout the course of the novels so far). Then, of course, just as everything seems wrapped up nicely with a beautiful how on top, Ms. Holmes, being the expert storyteller she is, added an epilogue that literally left me gasping with shock. I would've been eager for the next chapter of the Gateway saga regardless, but leaving things as they are has me absolutely rabid to begin! In fact, I intend to pick up the next book as soon as I finish typing this review... even though it's nearly midnight & starting a new book so late pretty much guarantees another sleepless night. So, let me just wrap up by saying that this book, & this series overall, are the kind of novels every reader hopes for: drawn irrevocably into the story from page one, barely able to finish one chapter for eagerness to start the next one, unable to put the book down regardless of the sun rising & your life calling from somewhere out in the real world. I would recommend this as great Reading to absolutely anyone.

I absolutely adore this series and Awakening of the Seer made me fall even more in love with Jess, Hannah and Milo (and almost everyone else too, but that's a long list). I love that all little pieces from previous books have weaved their way into the whole point of this book. It wasn't like Jess had enough going on already, what's one more thing on her plate. Between that and Hannah and the council these girls have it absolutely covered, with help from their ever faithful spirit guide Milo.

I love that they got to celebrate Christmas with their friends and Karen and I absolutely loved the present the girls gave Milo, I think it was only one of a very few times we have seen Milo speechless. It made the start of the book feel so carefree and fun before real life kicked in and then what a roller coaster after that.

I loved the way everything played out. With Jess and her developing a new skill to add to her resume, Hannah and her new venture with the council. There is so much happening with out all of the amazing twists that are thrown into the story and you will love it all, especially the bits I didn't see coming. Until the end and then I didn't love it so much, in fact I wanted to punch Illeana right in the face so hard. I hope in the near future she gets what she deserves.

Awakening of the Seer by E.E. Holmes follows twins Jess and Hannah. They can see and interact with ghosts, opening gateways to help them move on. Jess is headstrong and tends to butt heads with the Durupinen Council and others in authority. Hannah is much quieter and is trying to deal with her past traumas. It seems like Jess may be manifesting a new talent while Hannah has to learn the harsh realities of political intrigue.

I have loved this series since the first book, and this third installment is no exception. They are so easy to read and are somewhat fast-paced. The characters are all interesting, and I love Milo!!! As with most YA, there are twists, turns, and plenty of angst. There is adventure, romance, political intrigue (and all the arguing that goes with it)! This is a great book to read when you need a palate cleanser or just want something fun that still has some substance to it.

Let’s see wow what a weird way to start the sentence let’s see!!
Jess can talk to ghosts by the way as I say this the book that was laying next to me in bed just went flying across my room so whatever ghost is in my bedroom right now can leave me for a moment while I do this book review
Just can talk to ghosts she can track ghosts she is a walker. If I have to explain what a walker is then please go reread book 2 and now she can predict the future oh and she’s a muse And now she can predict the future I would actually actually say she’s like the goat of all things I’m scared of what book 4 is going to bring and how much more can this girl take in this book her and Hannoh won’t let me to say Hannoh great speech I am so proud of you. I so don’t like these traveler people but I know it Has to keep the story going.
Book four here I come now I got to go deal with a ghost in my room

I have so many books in my to read pile but I just can't stop reading this series. This is another great addition, a page turner, full of action and intrigue. Although I did figure some things out before the reveal and wanted to slap Jess for being so dense, this just made it a better read because it meant I was fully engaged with the characters. There were a few times I teared up, both from sadness and from pride. This has fast become one of my favourite series. On to Book 4!

Wonderful!

This book is a little bit slower than others in the series. Yet, it was a quick read, still very intriguing and interesting! I highly recommend this book, this series to anybody interested in fantasy at all! I've never found ghosts interesting but this series has undermined that disinterest completely. I'm a huge fan now, as you can tell and the suspense unilaterally is consistent, constant and somewhat amazing. What a prolific writer this author is!
