Chosen to be a priestess from childhood, Athena knows everything about aligning her energy with the universe and spreading hope, healing, and wisdom to people. But her inner balance is disturbed when Finn shows up on her doorstep.
The large, annoyingly flirtatious man kept her imprisoned in the past and now demands she lift the spell she cast on him. Rather than explain to him that the spell wasn’t real, Athena sees her chance of teaching him a lesson in karma and makes demands of her own. Finn will allow her full power over him for five full days or live with the curse forever.

So I know that this is book 4 and I’m just now reviewing it. I initially intended to do a series review, but have since learned that this series has been expanded beyond the 5 books that it initially planned for. I’m not complaining one bit. But I decided that since the journey has been extended I didn’t want to wait until the conclusion of the series to voice my thoughts.
While this could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading it in numerical order. As that will allow you to be fully immersive into the world of NMen and Motlanders. Already a little lost, let’s bring you up to speed. There was a toxic war and now we are in the year 2437, society is split, men control the north and women the south. Both sides think they are the superior to the other. They are working towards integration. That’s the gist of it.
So now to focus more on the book at hand. Finn and Athena are first introduced in book one, so you can imagine the storyline build up that we finally get to explore their story in book four. I was excited to see this book come to life and was thrilled with every turn that Elin allowed to dwell in.
We not only had the chance to explore each character further but also had the chance to catch up on previous characters and where they currently fall in the timeline. I think Elin tackle the time frame fantastic, as with such a large cast things can often become muddled. But everything seemed to match up on the timeline. While the exploration of Finn and Athena relationship emerged we were also given insight into Finn’s disturbing past. His friendship with Magni, his horror of a mentor and his power to hide behind seduction as a way to mask his pain.
This book shows the growth of the two both physically, emotionally and spiritually. While the main focus is the budding relationship you also get to see how each one has affected the lives of those they come into contact with, While they both have different approaches on how to handle certain situations, they both eventually find a good comprise that surprise the world as a whole.
Elin Peer continues to impress me with her witty delivery of a commentary on societal stereotypes and their popular views male-female power dynamics. I have enjoyed Finn’s playboy persona but this book allowed us a chance to see The Man and what shaped him. Athena and her patience really impressed me. Boy did she drop some nuggets of wisdom! I love the progression of the integrated school, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the fissures in the Wall will affect the mixing of the communities. This series continues to be enjoyable and I love it!
4 stars. I was truly shocked by how much I enjoyed this book. Honestly, I was expecting to hate it because of the hero and how much of a manwhore he became in the last book. It really was a lot better than expected though... and the story ended up being sweet and really moved the storyline of the "world" along. I especially loved the heroine who was strong, kind, and ends up being a really great part of the series as a whole.TBH, my biggest complaint was that I didn't always understand why she wanted the hero, but I could ABSOLUTELY understand why he wanted her.
SWE only because the hero technically met the heroine first and then went on to be with OW. Hero was said to have been with 5 women in the last book. It turns out that he lied about that and he had only been with 2, both extremely unsatisfying and he couldn't "finish" with them. He had some sexual abuse that he dealt with in his past that was creating a lot of issues for him in the present. The heroine helped him open up and accepted him for who he was. She was a virgin. One thing I really disliked is that he said he thought of her when he was with OW...that to me is a big no no.

3 stars Meh... these past few books have been an up and down trip for me, and this book just is not working for me. I liked it, it was good, it was just really underwhelming. There was so much the author could’ve done in this book and it just feels like a missed opportunity. I had my hopes up for the reunion between Magni and Laura and literally nothing happened. It was the same for the men entering the motherland, nothing happened. All that being said there was a progression with the earthquake and the wall falling but overall, I was not happy. I really think this series is just fizzling out for me and my interest is fading by the second.

This story only enhances what is a brilliant world! A plan to merge the Northlands and the Motherlands is moving along slowly! Khan and Pearl are pinning their hopes on this next step where ten Nmen visit the Motherlands as a cultural exchange! But Finn has his own agenda, he wants to meet Athena and have her lift the curse she placed on him when she was kidnaped a few months before! Athena accepts his visit on the condition Finn will submit to her will for five days! Thus begins a journey of personal growth and discovery for both of them! A beautiful story of two people coming together in a clash of culture, life styles, and wills! One more piece to an epic drool worthy series!
FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE AUTHOR THROUGH BOOKFUNNEL. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
I've been reading along this series for a while now, and I have to say that, in terms of entertainment value, this book is the best in the series! However, one of the secondary characters really soured the entire story for me!
I loved the story of Finn and Athena, and the things she put him through to get his "redemption"! I loved Athena's religious message, and thought it was extremely relevant for today's society. I loved seeing the results of some of the revelations of previous novels and how the overall story arc had progressed as well.
However, I really hated Hans' character! His ambition was fueled by lies and his entire character just seemed smarmy to me. He really brought the story down for me, and I wasn't interested in knowing what happened with him any further.
After reading this, I can't wait for the next book in the series, especially with the developments with Laura!
I don't know where to start with this book. Elin Peer has introduced us to a world where women rule and are divided and "protected" from the Men of the North. As we get further into the series Athena now gets the chance to one up Finn since he is coming to her part of the world. Finn, *deep sigh*, oh Finn has a story. One that only Magni is aware of. His humor hides so much. Athena wants to know more about them and their culture. She wants to understand but has no idea what that may mean.
These two. I laughed, well duh we are talking about Finn after all. I cried huge crocodile tears because this author just knows when and how to do that. I held my breath and I was there with them as their walls came down and they together helped to share the peace and wisdom of their love. This author is amazing and yes one of my one-clickers because I know there is always a story that is intense, entertaining, complete with characters that are real and probably your neighbor. Perfect addition to this series.
I liked this one because I liked Finn so much and was glad he got his HEA. There was a lot more integration happening in this one with the some of the men getting to come visit the Motlands. I'm not gonna spoil anything but there was a big event that forces both sides to address future merging. We didn't really get to see the fall out from the decisions made but I'm hoping that is more addressed in the next one.
It's hard to believe the way this Men of the North series just gets better with each new release! Finn, the Seducer, is a man of great intelligence, a trained physician, who uses humor and irony to cover the secrets he keeps of his early life. These terrible secrets have also brought him his best friend, the giant of a man, Magni, who is second in the North to his brother who rules, Lord Khan. In prior stories, Khan assigned Finn as Protector of the priestess from the Motherlands, Athena, when she was held hostage for five days after Magni kidnapped her thinking the Momsie Council would trade his wife, Laura, who had left him to study Marial Arts in the Motlands. Finn had a hard time with Athena; they fought the whole 5 days! Finn, as smart as he is, without a doubt believes that she has cursed him with an inability to derive satisfaction from sexual contact, no matter how many women he seduced on his first trip to the Motlands as a school chaparone. Now he is returning on a 10 day excursion along with four other men representing the North, but his priority this trip is a visit to Athena's home to attempt an apology and in return hopes to persuade her to lift the curse. Finn has quite an adventure with surprises and satisfaction beyond his wildest dreams!
And was I surprised when for the first time ever, I found a namesake in a book! Finn visits a family unit, and lo and behold, Reva is the sister of Tristan, who is very interested in the Nmen, now that they can be spoken of and visited. Magni becomes the topic of conversation and Reva measures the ceiling in meters to see if Magni, 7 feet tall, would be able to fit in Athena's house. A nice little math and conversion of measurement problem! I was always interested in ceiling heights myself and good at arithmetic, although these days, I'd use the converter app on my smart phone!
This book had a fantastic ending! However, the author reveals that she already has six more books planned for this series. I can hardly wait to see if each book continues to bring deeper satisfaction to the readers as have the first four!
Let me first express how much fun reading this book was. I have read all books in this series, and did not think that it could get any better. But Elin Per has done it again. She gave the book a whole new twist with going into the emotional life of the Nmen, in particular Finn's emotional life. But I do not want to spoil your reading experience and tell too much. Let me just say that you will see a lot through different eyes, as one says. Although the scenery is so different from our present world, in the end humans are humans with lots of different emotions. Words can hurt easily and often, people do not take the time to get to know someone better so not to judge that person prematurely or even wrongly. And I think that this thought is the essence of this book. A look behind the curtain so to say. It took me a bit longer this time since I was suffering from a bad cold, but still, every waking moment I got back to the story. And now I am a bit disappointed since the wait for the next book will seem quite long. This is what makes a good book. You rush through the book since you cannot wait to see how it'll end, but in the end, you are disappointed since you cannot read on and learn more, you have to wait for the next book. I know that feeling all too well, but I also know that it will be worth the wait.
I'll never get enough of this series. I love each and every one of those characters. On one hand you have this amazing yumie Nmen and on the other hand powerful and strong willed women who don't let them boss them around. All the books of this series walk a very fine line but never tilt on one side or the other. The author does an amazing job of finding the middle ground where both sides meet without sacrifice from either of them and without the reader taking a side. Lastly, Elin Peer makes me believe that when there's love, everything is possible and every problem is solvable Some words about the The Seducer: this is the book of Finn and Athena. We met them in a previous book when Magni kidnapped Athena with the hope that Motherlanders will exchange her for his wife who left him. Finn was her guard/protector until they released her 5 days later and she was able to go back. The book takes place 6 months after that incident where Finn visits Athena cause he wants the curse she put on him to be lifted. Athena knowing is the only chance she'll get for some Karma she offers a deal to him: He'll stay with her and follow her orders for five days and she'll lift her fake curse. Finn not knowing any better agrees. I knew I would love Finns book. He came out as a funny and happy go lucky type of guy in the previous ones but I had this feeling that that was his armor. I hoped that Elin Peer had an amazing story in store for him cause he deserved it and she did not disappoint me. No Sirie. Finn who is a doctor with secrets and a past that haunts him finds peace and love in the eyes of a priestess who can see and appreciate the man he became. I can't recommend more this series. The main story of every book BUT also the big story that plays in the background are awesome. This is one of the very few series that I'll be re-reading in the future. I guarantee that.
And the grade goes down even more with this book. The politics are taking up more and more of the book to the detriment of the romance and the number of characters that grow each book makes for growing confusion as to who is who. I don't think I can continue much longer with a series that started off so well
First off.. doesn’t the cover model kind of remind you of Selena’s husband in the movie where Jennifer Lopez plays Selena?
It’s like he hit the gym a million times and grew a bunch of facial hair…
I like it.
The book itself was pretty good. I really do enjoy Elin Peer’s writing and it seems to improve each time I read the next book in the series. Some of the issues I had with the first couple novels aren’t present in these later ones and it definitely makes the books more enjoyable. Not that it lacked any enjoyment before.
I love where the story arc is going and I’m looking forward to seeing the two cultures intermingle even more.
The only thing that I wasn’t crazy about with this novel was Finn himself. I did find him to be quite immature. I mean, he’s supposed to be a doctor and I didn’t get that vibe from him at all. But I absolutely loved Athena. Looking past the fact that she’s named after one of my favorite Greek goddesses (thank Annabeth for that), she was just a very awesome, strong character.
Overall, I think this was an excellent addition to this series and I’m looking forward to reading the next book!
Another good story by Elin Peer. This series is easy to read, entertaining. have read others in this series twice. Would recommend that you start with the first one. Each book has its own ending but the characters follow on. In my review no spoilers. Just read this book for the second time, what a series. You feel as though you are in the story watching on. That is what a fantastically talented author can do. Bring on the next one.
I knew Finn would be special - I didn't know he would make me cry, then cry again and maybe cry a few more times after that too!
I totally 'click' with this author's work, there isn't a book of hers that I haven't loved. There is just something about her writing that captivates me, draws me into the story and holds me there. I love the characters, the world-building and the plots, finding that each time we meet new Nmen, I'm desperate to read their stories too. In an attempt to keep this review spoiler free it may seem vague at times, but it's one of those stories that is jam packed with surprises and I don't want to ruin any of them.
The pace of the story kept me turning pages, I couldn't have predicted the many plot twists and I loved how there was so much more to this book than just Athena and Finn's story. I'm going to add here that I liked how those 'events' came at the end of the book rather than during it. This allowed me to concentrate on the 'romance' part and then get all excited again for where the stories will head in the future. The book is so well written, the prose flows smoothly and is also well edited. The characters almost step of the page they feel so complex and real.
Athena and Finn's story was wonderful, you'll need tissue's when you read Finn's back story, and when the exchange ends, and after the force of nature and possibly during the interview scenes too. It was fantastic to see a couple of characters from The Protector, as well as meeting a few new characters, who I'm hoping we will meet again. The only thing predictable about these books is how good they are. Each pair of characters, their story and the trials they face are always unique but always amazing too.
I really enjoyed getting to read Finn and Athenas love story. This book had a deep spiritual note. Nice to catch up with past couples and the children from the school. Finn has a deep, disturbing past that was hard to tell from the exterior he exhibited. I'm starting to think Elin has a background in religious studies. I loved this book and can't wait to read all the next ones. Just loved the humorous parts!!
How can one book soften my heart towards two N-Men that I have strongly disliked? I don’t know, but it did. I have been reading these books for the virgin heroes and this was the first book in the series where I didn’t get one. I was not particularly looking forward to it. But Finn’s back story tugged at my heart and he won me over. Not only did we get the back story but he is also such a sweet friend to Magny. When he talks to Laura I felt his love. Both Laura and I softened up. Maybe Magny is not all bad. The next book will tell.
I have read a lot of romance/erotica series. Often some of the books get deep into individual stories at the price of allowing the larger story to stall. Not this series. Something is always happening with the overarching story. But this book, more than any other, really shook up this world and storyline.
Wow, absolutely a fabulous read. Extremely entertaining, captivating, and interesting read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
And so we Patiently waited for Finns story! Well its was well worth the wait I promise you that.
First If you have yet to read any of The Men of the North books yet you should start with The Protector first the The Ruler, The Mentor and then this beauty, book 4 Men of the North The Seducer! Oh Finn I just knew you were going to be SPECIAL but I didn't know you would be so special because you had been through so MUCH in your Life! See Finn is a Dr in the Norlands and he has been in every book and has been this sweet guy you just could wait to know his story...but beware its not peaches and crème in any way shape of form. See our Dr has lots and lots of secrets. And one is he thinks the Priestess Athena that Magni captured/kidnapped to get his wife back well and he had to protect for 5 days put a curse on his sex life and he is on a eager path to get rid of this curse because he was in the Motherlands before and well things happen and well you got read book 3 to find out all about the first trip into the Motherlands its a treat in itself. So when things kind of get crazy through the media the counsel of the Motlanders we come to know them by or Momsies is really the best Finn is invited to come back to learn how they all live and to allow the Motherlands to learn about him, it is agreed upon that he can go see the Priestess Athena to "Apologize" and she knows he is coming and Ha does she have plans for him...plans he had zero clue he would not only go for but in the end Enjoy!
This book is told oh so well! Thank You Elin Peer for THIS Particular Story of Finn! It explains SO Much of what these tough rough Men of the North go through and I am sure most might not be like Finn and his good nature but his past well his past is very dark and devastatingly wretched. I wanted to kill me a Mentor, I cried for Finn and for all he went though and for all the things he hid behind! Thanks for bringing us such wonderful characters, you did a wonderful job of building us to the momentum of Finn and Athena! Athena called a Priestess is more to me like a therapist and someone that cam soothe the soul and boy does she do some work on Finn but shockingly to her he does also does A Lot of work on her. These two beautiful characters go through a lot together, meeting other Momsies and children and one is super special to them both and weirdly looks like Finn did as a child of course not much as a man so Athena cant see it but in def bugs our Dr.
So many things happen in this book, its pushes us way forward of mixing the Momsies and the Nmen. The ending is explosive and leaves us breathless to know what will happen next? How will this even work.
I was given the opportunity to read this book in advance but that didn't really happen and I am super sorry I am so late Elin but real life sometimes happens, I hate that!
I did however Loved that a characters name was Susie, blew me away even though I know it wasn't intentional but well you hear/read your name in a book and its just kind of wonderful!
One click this beautiful story of learning to live with a terrible Past and learn how Growth and Love between people that you would never have imagined would happen between is well just beautiful, sorry cant give any more info than that you just have to take me word for it and One Click this book and soar 400 plus yrs into the future, you Must Read It Yourself! You for sure will not regret it!!!
I think this is my favorite Men of the North book! I loved the flirty Finn in other books, loved the interaction between Athena and him when they first met, and I hoped for something deep when they explored each other's cultures. I wasn't disappointed!
Finn had a depth I've come to expect from Elin's characters. Athena did, too, but there's an interesting difference that really became apparent to me in this book. Finn (and the other Nmen) are shaped by their actions and lack of female companionship in the North (and I'm not just talking about sex). Athena and the Momsies are shaped by an absolute devotion to their particular dogma. Not only do they live in very different worlds, their approach to everything in life is a polar opposite.
I loved the premise: Finn was cursed by Athena, and he's there to get the curse lifted. She demands five days from him, the same amount of time she was held captive in the North. He agrees, and his charm and honor made me love him. I felt for him when Athena unknowingly put him in situations that were awkward and painful for him, but there was a payoff in the long run. She didn't know it at the time, but ultimately she helped him heal.
The explosive "change" that happened about 3/4 through the book was inspired! Talk about game changer! I loved that. It set up so much, threw everything on its ear, and there's no way to guess what direction the next books will take. All the major characters stepped up and came into their own with that surprise, and I'm anxious to see where things lead now.
Lastly, I loved the new characters, loved seeing the kids at the school again, and revisiting old friends from other books. All that aside, this book is wholly about Finn and Athena, and I think he's my new favorite hero!
I was given this ARC for my honest review and was thrilled since I've so enjoyed this series. Finn MacCumhail was an easy-going person, but if there’s one thing I don’t like, it’s people disturbing his sleep. Being a doctor means that he has taken his share of night duty, and that every night he gets a full night’s sleep is sacred. He was an Nman or man from the North. At 34 Fin was shorter than some of the other Nmen, he stood 6'3" tall with wide shoulders and his neck wasn't the only thick part on him. She was a Priestess from the Motherland. Athena had long auburn red hair, green eyes, and a tattoo that started between the woman’s eyebrows moving up her forehead in an intricate design above her apple cheeks, Her skin was fair over her small frame making her look like a child, no more than 19 or 20 even though she was 30. Above all else, even though some people said that Karma was a bitch, but Athena thought karma was like a patient mother watching out for her children. If one needed a lesson in humility or empathy, she would it. Once again Elin has woven traits into these characters than make them so relatable that to follow the storyline is like reliving a tale being personally told. My heart was racing at time with tears streaming down my face, her words vividly coming to life before my eyes. This book was such an emotional journey, both good and heart wrenching, that by the time I reached the HEA I felt almost euphoric. In my opinion, this has been the best book so far in the series. Definitely a 5 star recommendation
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of The Seducer by Elin Peer for my honest opinion. I’m sorry I’m not going to put any spoilers of any kind down. But I will say this, the story between Finn and Athena has become my favorite out of all the Men Of The North books so far. Finn is the perfect blend of sweet and tough, serious and funny, vulnerable and overbearing and somehow Elin Peer managed to make him perfect in my eyes ( I’d date him if he was a actual man ). Now Athena she showed her sweet vulnerable side but she also showed that she has a backbone made of pure steel and that she won’t bow down and obey. Basically Finn and Athena were perfect for each other they both had an element that the other needed.. Elin Peer’s Men Of The North just keep getting better and better. Her way of weaving her stories keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next, she pulls you into the story she’s weaving and you are both main characters and you are actually experiencing what they are going through and that is pure talent. I went through every emotion while reading this book and by the time I got to the end I felt like I had just ran a marathon. I can hardly wait for The Warrior because knowing Elin she’s probably going to blast us out of our seats!!
MEN OF THE NORTH: THE SEDUCER by Elin Peer is book 4 in a unique and interesting series by this creative author. I have found myself questioning many of the standard beliefs I’ve held over the years each time I read one of Ms. Peer’s books, and I love being stretched in how and what I think. This book has characters we have already met in the first three books. Athena is a Motherland priestess who is kidnapped by the ruler’s brother in hopes he will be able to get his wife back (who ran away from him to the Motherlands) in exchange for the priestess he kidnaps. Finn is her Protector while she lives in the Northlands.
Initially they do not get along at all, but are each drawn to the other in ways neither forgets. When Finn is selected as one of a small group to go to the Motherlands as an ambassador from the North to help continue improving relationships between the two countries, Athena agrees to host him for the number of days she was held hostage. Their relationship grows significantly in their time together. Some interesting subplots occur, too.
These are books best read in order but the new information learned in each one is entertaining. Fun series, which will have many stories yet to come. Great author! Unique but believable concepts. Thank you, Elin—you are part of what makes retirement a joy!
