Cally Sholes is a witch.

She is a twenty-four year old playwright and theatre director—and she is also a witch. Since she was sixteen she has been blessed with the ability to wish anything she wants into being. At first this ability was fun and she used it all the time to make every little thing in her life better, but then she discovered that the abuse of the wish had drastic consequences. So she decided to stop using her powers and concentrated on becoming a great success in her field.

Unfortunately, Cally has been so focused on getting everything right with her career that she has completely neglected her love life. She pretends that she is just focused on work so that she can deny to herself that she has deep seated commitment issues.

But then she meets sexy billionaire playboy Michael Melton. The new play that Cally is directing is based on him. After weeks of exhausting search to find the right person to portray him in the play Cally gets a call out of the blue from none other than Michael Melton himself. He wants to play himself in the play.

This sounds like a dream come true for Cally. He is perfect for the part and she finds herself completely falling for the charming stranger no matter how much she tries to fight her growing attraction.

But Cally is about to find out a dark secret about Michael Melton—he is a bear shifter. And he needs her help.

Michael is dying from a strange disease caused by the bear shifter curse and he has come to Cally for help. Can she help save the man who could be the love of her life from a certain death?

Or will she not be strong enough?

Bearly Witch is a bear shifter and witch paranormal romance. Bearly Witch is a short story which follows the story of Cally and Michael. I absolutely fell in love with this story, the characters, and outcome. Bearly Witch is an amazing combination between bear shifter and a witch. Bearly Witch has characters that a reader could come to really care about and come to like. This book is quite intense, with waiting to see if Cally would use her magic to help Michael. She had fears about her magic, especially since Michael was starting to be more important to her. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I would recommend this book to other readers.

Bearly Witch Details:
Cally Sholes had come into her witch powers at the age of 16. Her gift was the ability to wish things into existence. That day, she was going to get her driver’s license. She was prepared, but the excitement kept her from sleeping. She got up in the darkness and hurried down the stairs – but her brother had left his skates in the middle of the steps and her foot went right down on them. Knowing what was coming, she wished she could just fly over the skates and land gracefully at the bottom. That’s indeed where and how she landed! She tried wishing other things, and whatever she wanted happened!

When her parents woke, they told her about their heritage – however, she was the only living witch with powers in the family line right now. Cally’s power was getting harder to control and she found that it had some unintended consequences. So for everyone’s safety, she tried to avoid using it, and swore to never use it at all to make someone do something.

Now a play writer and director, Cally hurried to the theatre to audition actors for her upcoming play. This was the last day and she still did not have anyone for the lead part. The last three just were not right. As they took a break, Frank answered a phone call and came back excited! Michael Melton – whom the show was about – had been a theatre major in college and wanted to audition! To Cally and Frank’s surprise, Michael was perfect in his delivery. They were ready to start rehearsals!

Michael had some expensive Scotch to unwind at the end of the day. He was in pain, but he had wanted to complete this acting desire while he still could before his death. The next day he followed Cally to her office. He told her he knew she was a witch, and told her he was a bear shifter. He asked for her help in fixing whatever was killing him. She was afraid to upset the laws of nature like that. She didn’t know how her magic would work on things this serious – it could be disastrous! Would Cally find the courage to try to use her magic in this way? If she did, would the effects indeed be devastating? But if she did nothing, how long could he survive? And what did she stand to lose?.

The book has a kind of original story, but it unfortunately does not draw me in. There are several reasons for that.  It's written in an all-knowing narrator style, which I normally prefer. But for me personally it's not descriptive enough about appearance, scenes, feelings, smells, touch etc.  Also the main characters, although kind of well defined, are not really very relatable for me. They are fallible and not really lovable.

I will try to explain without giving away any spoilers.  Cally is a witch, who admits herself she has a temper. Since she was 16, she kind of had everything she might wish for at her fingertips. Of course having such a gift at such a young age and nobody to teach her about it, on itself could cause some character faults. She is a little bit redeemed when it's clear that she decided a while ago not to make people do anything against their will.  Michael is a multimillionaire who is magically burned out by working many days without sleep and sleeping around with lots of women. He decides to go for a career switch and then meets Carry

The story starts out as a lust (both being strong individuals) on first sight, romance.

It's a refreshing twist that both get to know about almost all of each other's magical secrets before they really start their game of seduction. Michael even admits from the start that he wants Carry ‘s help as a witch to heal. She has to think about that a bit, but instead of that issue nipping their romance in the bud, they continue. All this gives me mixed feelings. It seems a honest beginning, knowing each other's secrets, but I kept wondering if it was all real or if there still was a hidden agenda. I was relieved that a believable romance developed between them. They both clearly became better persons and more relatable during their budding relationship.

Alongside the development of romance there is also a sort of adventure going on. But I feel that that  part of the story only really starts after Cally and Michael were deeper involved with each other.

All in all I appreciated that they were clearly inspiring each other to become a better person. So maybe the characters were meant to be very imperfect, just so they could develop into someone better. And that is a very nice thought.

I voluntarily requested this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a super short read. This story is about Cally, a witch and theatre director, and Michael, a bear shifter and a billionaire playboy. Michael is dying and he wants to live out one of his dreams which is becoming an actor on Broadway. Him and Callie is not your typical type of couple. They are both headstrong and also Kelly is the type of woman who believes everybody around her is has an alternative motive. And also content being alone and living her life.

The book started off normal and fine and as soon as Michael got better the plot ended up changing. I did not understand how a novella basically tries to become a book. What I'm saying is that usually when it comes to a novella there is only one plot happening within the story. Usually when it is a book-length there are multiple plots that tie in together. With this there seem to have three different plots going all at once. It seemed a bit busy for the length of the book.

It isn't as though the new plots were at the beginning or the middle of the book. The plot seem to change near the end of the book. So the last 10 or maybe 20 pages of the story a new plot just started. I don't know if it was intentional or if the novela was a little too short and it was getting near the end and there needed some filler but it just didn't seem cohesive. It didn't seem as though it was necessary. The end result of the new plot made sense but it was just a weird transition. There were multiple transition issues in the story but once I got past them it actually flowed.

Overall this was enjoyable. I liked Cally and Michael together as a couple. They seem to balance each other out in at the end of the day that is what should happen when it comes to the hero and the heroine. You cannot have a couple who does not suit one another or does not make that other person better.

"Bearly Witch" was a slow start for me, not good when you only have 115 pages to read.
The concept was interesting. Descendant of witches who escaped the Salem trials, Cally is the first in several generations to exhibit paranormal abilities, which developed at age 16. We get a short look into the learning curve and find her no worse than any other teenager who is capable of just wishing into place whatever she desires. But is old enough to set up ethical guidelines.
Cally had a rather abrasive character. A "seasoned veteran playwright and director at twenty-four" (p34). It boogled this reader's mind as much as it did hers. She drank way too much coffee and I believe we were to equate caffeine consumption with vision and drive.
I did not care for Cally's opinions and the written words about actors. Calling them fragile and their needing special handling gave off "I'm superior" vibes. Her failure finding the lead for her new play, may be the cause of this attitude. But I'm not giving any grace for that. By that time (fairly early in the book), I was thinking DNF.
Her play was based upon the life of Michael Melton, CEO billionaire, playboy and unknown to most, wolf shifter. When he comes to her saying he wanted to play lead, my eyebrows went up into my hairline. Really? Really. Suspending disbelief signs up ahead. He also spends his down time as part of a secret organization that hunts rogues. It's a totally unnecessary subplot, a real WT.....Franklin moment . Points given for the two spilling their secrets before allowing the lust to get too spicy.
A quick read. This wavers between a 3.5 and 4 star read. I'd give it a solid 3.4, but dislike rounding down. This is my first time reading this author, who does have an extensive catalog. Not sure I'm a-gonna dive right in.

Callie Sholes: A successful, driven director and playwright, searching for the perfect lead in her next play. Oh, did I mention, Callie is a wish witch? Anything she wishes to happen, does. Cally keeps this powerful secret deep under wraps with her stringent moral code.

Michael Melton: A billionaire businessman, who wants the role as himself in Cally’s new play. By the way, Michael is dying. He’s a bear shifter that has used up all his shifter power, and will soon be dead, unless Cally can heal him.

Sparks begin to fly from the moment Cally and Michael meet. When Michael blurts out that he knows Cally is a witch, she is completely stunned. Once she overcomes her disbelief of the situation, Cally reluctantly agrees to wish Michael well. But things don’t go according to plan…

Attempting to discover why the wish didn’t work, Cally and Michael set out to find the answer to Michael’s problem, and resolve it. Research on the internet is less than helpful, so Cally and Michael continue searching for a solution.

The situation becomes more complex, as Cally and Michael attempt to contact the shaman that told Michael he was dying, to discover the shaman himself had passed on. With the assistance of the shaman's son, Cally and Michael find the solution in the shaman's journal... and thing really begin to heat up between Cally and Michael.

Can Cally overcome her own personal code and deeper fears to do what's necessary to save Michael? Or will she allow the only man that's ever meant anything to her exit her life? Will Michael become her be all and end all, or will he end it all between them if she saves him?

On the morning of her 16th birthday, Calli got a surprise. She discovered that she had the power of the wish which meant most of her wishes came true. This was great power but she quickly learned that her wishes could have unintended results. Afraid of the damage she could do, she tucked her magic away and focus on following her dream on her own. Now she is 24, with a job she loves. She is a play-write and director. She is starting a new play bad on a billionaire's biography but can't find the right leading man. Then Michael walks in wanting to act wanting to play himself in the play. Michael is so talented and of course fits the role perfectly so Calli agrees.
Michael is a billionaire businessman and playboy. He also has another secret, he is a rare bear shifter. He is the first in his family for a few generations so no one quite knows how to explain things to him. Michael didn't realize that his bear power was limited and he wasted a lot of it. Now his bear power is mostly gone and he is suffering from constant pain. He can't live without his bear so when his power is gone, he will die. Since he only has a short time left, he wants to follow his dream of being an actor. When he meets Calli, he quickly scents that she is a natural born witch. She might have the power to save his bear but first he has to convince her.
Callie is surprised to learn Michael's big secret. She wants to help him but she is afraid what consequences would arise from her wish. This is a good story with an interesting world building. I voluntarily received a copy of this story ad this is my honest review.

Bearly Witch is about Cally Sholes who is a witch and Michael Melton who is a bear shifter. Cally is a witch, and has been since she was seventeen. She lived in a family that were the descendants of a group of witches that had escaped from Salem. It was an inherited power, but skipped most generations, but occasionally a woman in their family would be born with the gift. It had been hard to learn to control her power, because like most teenagers should would wish the teacher would get sick since she had not studied for a test, and then the teacher would, which made Cally realize how her wishing could affect others so she tried to use it very sparingly. Cally was a play director, and her new play was about a billionaire playboy based on the city’s most eligible bachelor Michael Melton, but she could not find a leading actor who could play the role as it should be. So, she had to get to work for more auditions. Then Michael Melton has his people call Cally and tell her he is interested in acting in it himself, since he had minored in theater in college. Then things get really interesting.

This book is awesome!! I started reading this book and had trouble putting it down. I really liked the way the characters were introduced and developed. This book is a must read for anyone who loves shifter romances or witch romances, any kind of paranormal romances for that matter. My only caution is there are some steamy sex scenes, so this is for mature readers.
I’m giving this book 5 hearts

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Summer Cooper has penned one of my favourite genres of stories in Bearly Witch as I love bears in any form.. In this we meet Cally who inherited her powers as a witch when she turned 17 years old and she had some difficulties controlling it so she uses her powers very sparsely and carefully. She is a playwriter and theatre director of a play about the city's most eligible bachelor, Michael, but she is experiencing trouble casting the main role. Then, one day, Michael himself approaches her and as he did a minor in theatre at college asks whether he could actually play himself and this is the start of their story. Michael has a secret. He is a bear shifter and he senses that Cally is a witch and that she could save him as he has a "dark secret" that is slowly killing him. The attraction between them starts off so naturally and the passion and love builds throughout the story. Summer's writing style is relaxed and pays great attention to detail so that you can almost "picture" the story taking place before your eyes. They have so many obstacles to overcome but by being together they wind their way to their HEA in this sexy novel. I really enjoyed this story by Summer and one that I will be re-reading in the future as it is so good and just that bit different. Grab this whilst you can as it is a real page turner that you won't want to put down until you've reached the end.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!!!

Cally learns when she is sixteen that she is a witch; it runs in the family from a witch that escaped the witch hunt hundreds of years ago, but hasn't appeared for generations. Her is 'wish' magic, not casting spells. Cally thought about playing tennis in her future until her ankle was broken and healed ,but not enough for playing as a career. She is now play writer/director where she is achieving her goals. She has written a play about Billionaire Michael Melton from his memoir and about how it was tough to find the perfect woman for himself. She has not found the right actor to play his part until Michael Milton asks to try out for the part;turns out that he took acting classes in college. He is chosen for the part. Now he needs to enlist Cally's help because he is a bear-shifter and he is dying due to the pending death of inside bear running out of its' life power. Cally had fantasizing about getting Michael into her bed from the first time she met him. Michael had smelled that Cally is a 'natural born witch';few and far between. Maybe she can help prevent his death. Will she be help him? Do they need more research including see the Shaman, who diagnosed the problem? But the Shaman has died, but left his journal. Will the journals have needed information? Will be able use the information to save Michael? Will they have time for a future possibly together?.

Cally is a playwright and she's directing her play about a rich man. Cally is a witch she learned she was when she turned 16years old it seems that her family has had witches for generations but it didn't happen again until Cally. Cally had to be careful with her powers because she was a wish witch. Michael Melton is a bear shift and also the man Cally's play is about. He approaches them about playing his part and when he auditioned they knew he was what they needed. However that wasn't the only reason he came out to see Cally he knows that she's a witch and he needs her help. Michael is dying and he thinks Cally is the only one that can save him. What neither of them counted on was developing feelings for one another. Will Cally be able to save Michael?

This is one of the best paranormal stories I've read in awhile once I started it I couldn't stop until I was done. Amazing story I can't wait to read more by this author. If you haven't read anything by Summer Cooper this is a great story to start with.

Can Cally Save Michael and Vice Versa?

Cally and Michael...The day she turned 16, Cally discovered that she was a Wishing Witch - whatever she wished for came true. Michael is rich, handsome and talented. But none of that can save him. He's a shifter and his bear is losing his power. When his bear dies, so does Michael. Can Cally wish him back to good health without creating undesirable side effects? As they search for answers, they grow to care for each other as friends and colleagues, until that isn't enough.

I enjoyed reading this book. Ms. Cooper has added an interesting concept to being a shifter. A shifter's supply of power is finite. It can be exhausted from overuse. Cally learned early on that using her gift indiscriminately is not very fulfilling as well as being potentially dangerous to others. She would rather earn her way in life. Michael had to learn the hard way. The story flows well except for the sudden and brief appearance of a secret society that Michael joins without telling Cally. Still, this book is well worth reading. Happy reading!

For Cally Sholes, being a witch is a dangerous pass time. Too much can go too wrong when your every wish can come true. Much safer to stay in her role as playwright and theatre director. Just when her upcoming production just can’t seem to cast the perfect leading man, Michael Melton walks into her life.

This contemporary shapeshifter paranormal romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building that is magical and characters that are realistic, and captivating. Their journey is enthralling with nearly witch, a bear shifter and witch paranormal romance that is magical and pure fantasy with fated mates, an alpha male, witch, explicit romance that is engulfed by steamy passion that ha sizzling desire, lust, and spice with all the feelings to have readers' toes curling, action, adventure, heartfelt emotions and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with a bearly witch and explicit romance that is sure to transport readers into a magical world that is exhilarating and unforgettable.

This paranormal romance between a witch and a bear shifter billionaire has a charming premise, but the execution felt a bit too constructed for me. The plot leans heavily on coincidence — he appears exactly when she needs an actor, just happens to be a famous one, and the play is even based on him. It stretches believability, even for a story with magic.

Speaking of magic, I really missed a sense of consequence. In many witch-themed stories, spellwork comes with some form of cost or energy balance, which keeps the world grounded. Here, wishes simply come true without any explanation or limitation, and that made the story feel less coherent and harder to immerse myself in. I found myself repeatedly wondering why things were happening so easily.

That said, the core idea is lovely, and the overall plot has potential. With a bit more structure and some tweaks to the more improbable moments, it could have been a far more satisfying read. As it is, it’s a light, quirky romance that may appeal to readers who enjoy whimsical, effortless magic and don’t mind a heavy dose of coincidence.

Michael Melton is a bear shifter who found out he is dying so he decided to act in a play that Cally wrote about him and then after days of rehearsing he follows her to her office and he tells her he knows she's a witch after he asks her to dinner and so they go to dinner and talk for hours and so she decides to try and heal him but her wish does not come true so days after she thinks to call and ask about the shaman who told him he was dying and he said he died, so Cally said I will see if he has any relatives and she finds his son. The son Daniel let's them read his journals and she finds the answer and the answer is that it didn't work because she's a virgin and so they go home to rectify that and when they are down in the morning he is healed. Months later they are dating and the play is going good.

Cally is born with the power of witchcraft. It comes in the source of wishes. Her power emerged as a teen. Anything she wishes comes true and I admire her control through out her life when any simple passing thought would happen. As we find out she's a playwright working on the life story of Michael Melton; a young billionaire, but is having trouble finding a leading man to fill his role.

That is until Michael himself takes interest and decides to play the role himself.

Michael is a bear shifter that is dying and trying to live his life to the fullest. When Cally finds out she tries to cure him but for once her power fails her. The two grow closer during her endeavor to save his life. Summer wrote these characters so well that you could imagine sitting next to them and grinning at their interaction!

Cally is a witch but she doesn't use her powers of wishing very much as it can all go very wrong very quickly. She is a director in a theatre and is looking for a male lead for her latest play based on a book about billionaire Michael Melton. However, Michael turns up in her theatre wishing to do the lead roll. Unknown to Cally he is dying and he wants to do this before he dies. He is also a bear shifter and he can smell that she is a witch. Cally finds that he is perfect for the lead role and she also finds that she is attracted to him. As they get to know each other he tells her that he is a shifter and his bear is dying, which means he will die with the bear. Cally sets out to find out more about his problem and their attraction grows. A lovely hot steamy romance with an HEA. Loved it, the characters and the storyline.

This was a great book and wish it was longer but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Calls Sholes is a Wishing Witch and doesn’t rely on her gifts and wants to make it on her own as a Playwright and Theatre Director but she is struggling to find the male lead for her play until he walks in MIchael Melton and is perfect for the roll which is based on him anyway but the attraction she feels for him is burning hot abut can she trust him not to use her like others have. Michael Melton is a bear shifter and a billionaire playboy who’s bear is dying and if that happens so does he and so before that happens he has always wanted to be an actor and turns up to see Cally Sholes and gets the lead part which is easy because its about him anyway but the strong connection between them is off the charts but how will she feel about him being a bear shifter and that his life will be over soon.

WOW, I didn't think I would like this book, but I kept reading and it got better and better to the point I could not put it down..

Cally is a witch, a true witch, if she wish for anything it will happen, like the genie in the bottle, but with unlimited wishes. She is a writer and producer of stage plays. She is making a play about billionaire Michael, based on his book about his memoirs and can't find the right actor to play the part.

Michael, he is a shifter (bear), but also a billionaire who has studied to be a actor in his spare time, He was sick not so long ago, and he received some bad news that he is dying, but he will live his life to the fullest until the end.

These two will meet and their lives will change forever, so read this phenomenal story by Summer Cooper.

Cally is stubborn, demanding, and very unaware of the paranormal world around her outside of the fact that she is a witch. Michael is a suave billionaire and bear shifter who knows what Cally is and that she could be the one to save his life. There is a good bit of push and pull between them, mostly because Cally is resistant to real relationships and physical connections. Thankfully, Michael is persistent and their discoveries force them to become closer than friends. Despite Cally challenging what could be Michael is sweet, reassuring, and a great partner. The intimate scenes are sprinkled throughout and don’t dominate the story. The epilogue is very cute and makes Michael just that much more endearing.

Cally, a wish witch with a flair for directing broadway theatre, meets her match in Michael, a billionaire bear shifter with dreams of taking center stage. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the setup promises quirky charm.

The first half delivers exactly that: a whimsical blend of paranormal romance and theatrical antics. Cally’s magical meddling and Michael’s earnest desire to act make for some genuinely fun moments. But midway through, the plot veers into unexpected territory that didn’t quite align with the tone or pacing established earlier.

While the romance had its sweet and steamy beats, some of the language during intimate scenes felt outdated. That said, the concept is fresh, and fans of cozy paranormal romance with a touch of stagecraft may still find plenty to enjoy.

This book is about Callie and Michael. Playwriter Callie is making a play based on the local Billionaire and having a hard time casting the part for the rough, tough, and debonair Billionaire, Until Michael's agent contacts them to see if he is a fit. Seems he may be a better fit than what Callie had anticipated, take it away Michael. I am not one for spoilers of a book, so with that said. Characters are very different from what I normally read about witches and shifters, great twist on their being. You will fall in love with the characters and the entire story line, especially if you love witches and bears :-) Happy Reading.

This is a cute story of two individuals, Michael and Cally. Michael is a bear shifter and Cally a natural witch. Cally not only writes but directs her plays. She read a book based on Michael which was written by Michael. and decides to do a play based on the book. Wonder of wonders, after not being able to find the perfect actor, Michael shows up to play himself in the play. There's a bit of flirting and jostling of personalities and egos (?) but eventually they settle into a relationship of a sort, especially when Michael reveals his secrets to her.
A beautiful loving story of two people, both supernatural, who find love and acceptance together.

Cally is a play director and she workin on a play about Micheal Melton. She having a hard time finding a actor portray him. Then they get a call from Micheal secretary saying he wants to try out for the part. Cally could not believe her luck the only man that could Micheal perfectly is his self.
Micheal has always dreamed of being in a play and this maybe his last chance to achieve this goal before he dies. Micheal is a bear shifter that has unusual illness that will eventually kill him. When Cally and Micheal meet there's a instant pull between the both of them. That Cally is trying not to think about. Cally is a witch so when Micheal ask her to help him all she can is help him or lose him forever. That's a tough decision she's going to have to make before it's too late.

Cally Shole is a witch. Now, I don't mean that in an insulting way. I mean it in a paranormal way. Witching can cause all kinds of issues. So she spends her time working as a playwright and theatre director. The play their working on a play, but they're missing the leading man. She was shocked and surprised when Michael Melton, a sexy billionaire playboy walked through the door. Cally, couldn't believe it because her play is based on Michael Melton. She wants him to star in her play. But as time passes, Cally learns that Michael has a secret. But does Cally have one as well?
This is a really great book. If you read any of Summer Cooper's books you know how addictive they are. Here's another one you can't put down.

Bearly Witch by Summer Cooper is a captivating tale of romance between Carry, a witch, and Michael, a billionaire bear shifter. The story is full of unexpected twists that keep readers on their toes. Just when it seems like their life is finally drama-free and they're headed for a happily ever after, another surprise emerges.

While the book's concept is intriguing, it suffers from an overabundance of inner dialogue and a lack of direct interaction between characters, which can make it feel slow-paced and a bit tedious at times. Despite these issues, the unique blend of paranormal romance elements makes it an interesting read.

I have read quite a bit of shifter and supernatural romance stories/novels/novellas and have not come across a story such as this--at the very least, not one that made a lasting impression.

Cally is a "wish" witch; everything she wishes would happen magically comes true. Michael is the last bear shifter of his line and needs Cally's help to fight a death caused by using up his finite supply of shifter power.

Only three stars because the story was a bit rushed for my liking. Those who like quick shifter/supernatural romances would like this!

I love bear shifters and thoroughly enjoyed this story with great characters, romance and intrigue. She was a witch and writer/director for the movie from the book of his life story. He was a billionaire bear shifter who was dying due to wearing out his bear. There was no cure. When he described his condition, she wanted to help him out, but her powers would not work. They did research and went through a lot and she finally saved them and they got their HEA. The ending was great. I can't wait to read more books from this author.
