Before anything I would like to say that I'm huge fan of Maine Mendoza ever since she started, I think she's one of the good things that's left on PH longest running noontime show. And now my thoughts on her book Yup, I Am That Girl, I think this book is a fun easy read that her fans would enjoy, well, I did... Kind of. But if you've been following her career since she started, read all the magazine articles that has her on the cover, this book doesn't really offer anything new, except it was written by her. I think this book missed an opportunity to be more personal, share experiences that a lot of people can relate to, have more connection to people that adores her, like how about a photo before every chapter that's related in what she wrote about? maybe taken by Maine herself?? (I mean, c'mon, her insta game slays!!), instead of photos of her that were taken in a studio. And that last chapter ugh! I find cringe-y and don't understand why it exists, it made me feel this book were sponsored by those companies. This book may say #Unfiltered on the cover but, for me, it felt #Limited but like what she said in her book "C'est la vie", she's a celebrity and they have an image to protect. Still adores her though.

Hmm. Maganda yung pagkakasulat ng libro ni Menggay at nararamdaman kong may potential siya maging isang nobelist kung gugustuhin niya :) pangarap din daw niya kasi ang makagawa nang isang libro balang araw.

First book I finished reading this 2018!!!
I saw this on the counter of NBS SM Marikina, and decides I gotta pick it up because 1) I just want to read more this year, 2) I want to write and blog more, and 3) I've read some of Maine's blog posts, and she could actually write. She has a voice.

It was an easy read, but I believe you'd appreciate this more if you were a rock solid fan of hers (it felt more like a scrapbook, filled with memories, and thoughts, and photos, things about herself, showbiz life, fam, friends, etc) but, it did give me the push that I needed (I used to write even about the simplest things; maybe I can do it again). It's a nice coffee table book.

I wish next time, it would be less about showbiz(?), but just more of her thoughts, her rambles, really. (Don't get me wrong--this book also had those) Still, it was a good introduction (or re-introduction) to the pessimist optimist bella, as she calls herself.

I enjoyed reading her book because I felt that she was actually talking to me. Parang chatting with a new friend, ganern. Unlike some who just came up with a book just because it’s uso or trend on celebrities. Believe me, I know ‘coz I bought a few of those and I got really disappointed!

Tipong ang laki ng texts tapos puro photos. Not worth the price, to be honest.

It’s about HER – her thoughts, her personal stories, her opinions, dreams & future plans. Nakakatuwa lang because it’s simple and straightforward. With so much articles that came out about her, minsan paulet-ulet na lang yung mababasa mo, pero here, she shared pieces of her that life that you can never read from magazines.

This book proved that she’s one of the rare gems in the local showbiz. And yes, I’m a fan. 😍

Maine can write. This book is what you expect it to be: a safe introduction to Maine's life as she becomes an instant public figure. The book is not pretentious. It's light. It's a love letter for all of those who believe in her. I'm not a fan. She just writes well and Summit Media did a good job in making her relatable.

still a fave read of mine. i wont tire of rereading this every now and then... maybe i actually should revisit even just a few chapters yearly of it, not really to refresh myself on things about maine but more about to remind myself how life could be if i approach it in differing ways, if i approach it in a way that is truly me

More like 2.5 (Eh kasi ang daming photo op & less prose) That was quick. Haha. Well, it's cute. 50% naka-relate ako dahil pareho kaming "pessimist-optimistic" 50% hindi, kasi hindi naman ako artista. I don't have much to say about this except, nakakatuwa talaga si Maine Mendoza. 😊

Nice one Maine! It felt like I was reading her blog but better because I don't have to read on screen. I can relate so much to her. She'll go a long way!

I already have the physical copy of her book with Maine's signature. The book is fun to read because
you will able to know her better. I really enjoy reading the book because she gave some insight about
herself. I admire her because of being truth to her self.

I'm in Saudi, I let my Tita bought the book for me and then she captured all the pages and sent all the photos to me. Yey! All for Maine. 💚

“She appeared as Yaya Dub, Lola Nidora’s alalay. It wasn’t an easy challenge to take on, but she was brave enough to conquer it all. And she did.” -part of Prologue
3 things about Maine’s book:
1. Well-written. It’s true that it is unfiltered (best description/adjective for her effort in writing her life in detailed). You can feel that every word in her book really came from her heart. It is so nice to read a book like this written by a celebrity who really has a passion in writing.
2. Gives advices, tips, and lists of facts in life based on her perspective and experiences. She may not be an expert to give advices but she makes sure she has enough knowledge and understanding about it. Also, I feel like she is giving ways on how we can say our version of “Yup, I am that girl/guy” to anyone with or without making ourselves like her.
3. Entertaining. It is not a boring non-fiction book. In fact, it is easy-reading. It can make you laugh, inspired, realize that you and Maine have in comon/differences and best of all, it can make you kilig 😆.
I think Maine’s book will become a game changer to those celebrities who would like to have and had already a book like this.
