The Little Black Book for Lent 2018: Six-minute reflections on the Passion according to Mark

Rate this book
Six minutes a day.
That’s what you’re asked to give from now until Easter. Each 24-hour day has 240 “six minute” packages. During Lent, one of those will be given to the Lord.
The centerpiece of each day (except Sundays) is the Passion according to Mark, which is on the right-hand page. We’ll walk through the whole Passion a little bit at a time, and offer some reflections with each piece.
Once you get into it you’ll find this practice to be peaceful, even something to look forward to. You’ll also find that it helps to make your day go a bit better. Prayer does that.

Kenneth Edward Untener (August 3, 1937 – March 27, 2004) was a Roman Catholic bishop, serving the Diocese of Saginaw from 1980 until his death.

In 1999, Bishop Ken Untener of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw decided to create a Little Black Book, which would use the prayer tradition of Lectio Divina to help people pray the Passion of Our Lord. Besides an English version of the book, there was also a Spanish edition, and a children’s book (Little Purple Book).

Although Bishop Untener died in 2004, he remains the inspiration for the Little Books. His Little Books staff continue to produce Little Books each year for the Advent/Christmas, Lent and Easter seasons, based on Bishop Untener’s writings. They are also producing four Stewardship books in light of the four Gospels.

A Great Meditation for Lent

This book is a nice, practical and thoughtful way to use during Lent to prepare for Easter. The little facts are interesting and the six minute meditation makes it easy to fit into a busy schedule.

Love all the little books

I would pick up the black, white and blue little books from my church every season. They became a part of my prayer life. Now I have them in my Kindle and can easily start my day with them. Great focus and reflection prayers delivered in quick readings.
