Blood Moon Magick
A Whiskey Witches Novel, Book 2
By: S.M. Blooding
Narrated by: Kalinda Little
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I liked this book even more than the first book! It flows better and it isn't only center around the main character. She is actually able to help others. This one she finds that there is more to the paranormal world than just demons, angels, and ghost. She is back in Texas and finds out her detective partner is one of those 'other' paranormals. It gets real exciting and she uses her witch abilites in ways she didn't in book one. Really cool.
The narrator is wonderful and performed the voices well and moved the story along perfectly. Great job.

This book clears up a lot of the confusion about Paige and her abilities. It also adds a whole new world, the paranormals. It's very exciting! I hope you love it!

S.M. Blooding is a phenomenal writer. She is an artist at painting the canvas with her words and pulling the reader in. Even Blooding's supporting characters are complex and fascinating. Several of the supporting cast could easily have their own books.

My favorite character is Paige. How she hasn't gone on a killing spree with the years of pent up angry she has is mind boggling. lol She is one strong female MC.

This series as a whole has been fantastic. I cannot wait to dive into the next one.

The first installment in to the world of Whiskey Witches and Paige with her cast of crew, family, friends, co-workers had captured my supernatural thrill seeking curiosity. The second installment brought on more mayhem, magic, and a bigger cast of characters, twist and turns, and Paige and Dexx. Yet again the drama, mystery, suspense and all came with the intriguing lure of more. Paige carries things well with all that has been revealed to her. She has much to get to get adapted to or acquainted with. The read felt like an extension of book one and flowed well. Gave me an added depth of world building. And some more diverse characters. I recommend this read for those looking for some excitement, magic, mayhem, strength and more. But I do advise to read Whiskey Witches first. All things are possible.

Narrator Review of . . . BLOOD MOON MAGICK (Whiskey Witches, #2) . . . As with the first regular speed was a not keeping pace with my imagination. Kalinda gave Paige her own specific identity one that carries over from book one. There still that clear, concise and distinctive diction for each.

This was the next book in the series and I think I like this one even better than the first. Though I will say the first one was dynamite. The reason I liked this one better had to do with character development. I knew these characters now. They have become part of my fantasy book world. I do think a reader could start with this book and still understand the series. But as with any series, starting with book one gives you a greater appreciation for the story.

The plot for this book was fast-paced and it drove me to keep listening. I didn’t want to be interrupted. The author added a new character and developed one a little more from the first book and it helped create a nice ensemble cast. There is one twist with this book, and I really can’t say too much but it involved a really big cat.

Book two is every bit as good one! Paige is back and so are the demons as well as as whole host of other paranormal beings! This urban fantasy is addictive as we follow Paige on her journey and she is kick ass and full of sass and snark. The story continues to grow as does the character development and I am so looking for ward to reading book 3!

WOW - SM Blooding is an amazing author and has written another book in this amazing series!!!

I will start by saying that you really need to read book one in the series (Whiskey Witches) before you read Blood Moon Magick. It isn't mandatory - but omg, this book will make so much more sense to you if you do!!!

In this series, you are introduced to demons, a demon summoner, angels, witches, vampires and even shifters. The way that SM Blooding writes about the different paranormals is amazing - so different from any other book that I have read on this subject. I don't write spoilers - but I'll warn you that just when you think that you have figured out where she is taking you in this book - that she will surprise you and add a twist you were not expecting!!! You will also find that it will be hard to stop reading this until you reach the ending.

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

Note: While this is Book 2 in the series, it works mostly OK as a stand alone. The author does a good job of recapping past events that are relevant to this tale.

Paige Whiskey has returned to Denver after spending time with her family in Georgia. It’s only been a week since she did some demon fighting and regained some important memories. But she’s getting back into the swing of things as a homicide investigator with the Denver police department. Dexx Colt came to Denver with her and he’s picking up some handyman and mechanic jobs with Paige’s neighbors. Toss in her detective partner, Tony, and then FBI agent Jack, there’s a full monster hunting party.

I like the Denver setting, all the action, and the shifter magic that comes into play. Tony was also a worthy addition as I can relate to his skepticism. Dexx provides humor and some heat (though not as much as in Book 1). Jack’s role became important at the end of the book. Paige’s pregnant Texan sister provides some worthy research via the phone. Then we get a small-town sheriff, Carl (a woman) who acts as gatekeeper to the shifter community. Paige is the single woman in a boy’s club but these other ladies give the story some gender balance.

Paige is one of those people that can create her own drama. She’s got lots of self-doubt and spends time second guessing herself. I didn’t really like these traits about her but luckily she’s got murders to solve and supernatural beings to combat. Her powers grew exponentially in Book 1, which was fine. However, by the end of this book she has yet more crazy powers and these are used to get her out of a very difficult spot. So I felt that her powers were too convenient. I am hoping that Book 3 finds Paige having to do a little more than fling magic around.

Tony is the character that fascinates me. He’s hesitant to give up his secrets but eventually it becomes apparent that everyone would be better off if everyone put some of their cards on the table. I loved his reveal, his snide comments, and his dry sense of humor. Perhaps there will be a Tony miniseries spin off? (looks hopefully over at the author).

Sven was the big tricky demon from Book 1 and he has followed Paige to Colorado where he continues to torment her (or is he trying to woo her?) by leaving bodies. However, now he has a new trick up his sleeve and it involves the Denver area shifters. His trap he laid for her is multi-layered and I liked that it wasn’t a slam dunk to defeat him (even if I found that Paige’s sudden new powers made things too easy right there at the end).

Overall, I enjoyed Book 1 a bit more. Paige is sassy and her cussing makes me chuckle. There was a touch more unnecessary drama in Paige’s head in this tale and I found that repetitive. However, we get to meet Tony and he’s my new favorite character for this series. I really hope that Paige gets laid next book so she can stop riding the waves of desire and self-doubt. 3.5/5 stars.

I received a free copy of this book.

The Narration: Kalinda Little continues to be a very enjoyable Paige Whiskey. I like her slightly rough voice for Paige. I also love her big lovable voice for Dexx. Her voice for Tony fluctuated quite a bit. Sometimes he sounded like he was sneering all the time and sometimes I kept getting him confused with Jack. Her male character voices are masculine though which is a good thing with so many male characters. I like how Little made Paige’s inner telepathic communications sound a little different so it was very easy to tell when the character was using that skill. 4/5 stars.

Whiskey Witches Origins:
S M Blooding, The Demon Whiskey - Has an overview, which I appreciate knowing what the book is about before reading it. Although I was disappointed with the last part of Whiskey Witches, I decided to read TDW. This book can be read after or before WW, without any spoilers. Well written, with realistic dialog and an interesting plot. By realistic, I don't mean vulgar language, since nowadays that's considered the real way to talk. This book is heavy with vulgar language, which I found distracting in both books, and caused me to start skimming after a few chapters. But at least the English out weights the profanity. The author and I butted heads, and while we agreed to disagree, we found we had similar backgrounds. I found Blooding a nice and funny lady through our emails. Minor editing needed. I contacted the author to review her books after reading Whiskey Witches. 4*

S M Blooding, Whiskey Witches #1 - Intense. This well written, interesting story hits the floor running and doesn't stop until the last quarter of the story. The characters are believable and the twisting plot keeps the reader immersed in reading until the last 25%. The book then got boring and silly in places. Unfortunately, WW is heavy with vulgar language, which distracted me in places. I do credit the author with some restraint, since there could have been more profanity. Minor editing needed. This is my first book by this author and I will be reading The Demon Whiskey. 4*

S M Blooding, Blood Moon Magick #2 - The stories keep getting better. Another well written, intriguing, fast paced book. The suspense filled storylines keep the reader immersed in the pages, making it hard to put the book down. The characters grow more with each story and the new characters are just as interesting. Ms. Blooding does an excellent job with her vivid descriptions and action scenes; you're actually there with the characters. Kinda hard when you've got a good imagination and everything is clear; makes ya lazy. More paranormals add to the mix, adding a good depth to the series. Needs editing. 4*

S M Blooding, Barrel of Whiskey #3 - I know why I love this series, the Whiskeys reside in Texas. Not really, it helps, but the author does a great job with her well written storylines and interesting characters. The plot rides like a rollercoaster out of control; the pace is fast and there's nonstop action. The characters, good and bad, make this, amongst other things, a difficult book to put down. Vivid descriptions are the norm for this author. Needs editing. 4*

S M Blooding, Witches of the West #4 -I love that I got to chain read the last three books. I never got tired of the well written, intriguing storylines; the interesting characters; and the fast paced action. Ms. Blooding is an artist with her vivid descriptions and rollercoaster plots, which make her books difficult to put down. Read them in order for the best entertainment. Needs editing. 4*

Paige Whiskey is back for round two. The demons have followed her to Denver where a girl has been murdered. This second installment begins where the first installment ended, the trip back to her life in Denver after one heck of fight for her life in Louisiana. Blooding has continued the intensity with this installment, with charged up characters and unpredictable circumstances. There are a lot of questions, a lot of injustices, and now there are shape-shifters and other paranormal creatures coming out of the woodwork. The author continues to do a stunning job by incorporating action-pact and paranormal elements all in one package.

Paige Whiskey is the detective…and witch…called into yet another crime scene with murder written all over it. Paige tends to get the strange cases and for the life of her, but now she knows exactly why…demons are drawn to her and one demon in particular by the name of Sven has made sure of that. After giving the key to Sven in exchange for Dexx’s life, Sven told her that something big was coming and she had to get stronger to prepare. This murder is only the start, but what it opens up could be worse. Paige discovers the entities of other paranormal creatures. Vampires, werewolves, werecats…the list goes on. What she doesn’t know is why her grandmother kept them a secret from her and what her family has to do with this mysterious pact between shifters and witches. Then…as if that isn’t enough to deal with, Dexx gets bitten and Paige has to make a decision that could cause a war to come to her doorstep.

Blooding does a superb job with character development, originality, creativity, and pace. The pace is nice and fast, but not in any way difficult to keep up with. The scenery described is vivid, lucid, and completely elemental. Since this review compliments the audiobook, the narrator Kalinda Little did have some strengths and weaknesses with the portrayal of this story. There were still special effects with the vocalization from past to present memories, but there still feels it is lacking something. It doesn’t seem as much as the first installment, but the way the narrator reads the story still feels a little unemotional. If you are a reader of paranormal fiction and dark fantasy, you may want to pick this one up as it is the first installment of the Whiskey Witches Series.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to Turning Another Page by Audiobookworm Promotions, but this in no way affects our honest opinion of the book or the review that has been written. We provide a four-star rating for Blood Moon Magick by S.M. Blooding, narrated by Kalinda Little.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by S.M. Blooding. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

I had listened to Whisky Witches a few days ago and I was interested in what was going to happen to Paige and her friend Dexx next. I liked Blood Moon Magick more than Whisky Witches partly because it wasn't as dark as the first one.

Paige finds out that the world doesn't just have humans, witches, and demons. There are also vampires and shapeshifters and her partner is a vampire! She can't believe that he's been her partner for 5 years and she never realized that he was a vampire. To her credit though, her grandma insisted that there were no vampires so why would Paige even consider it?

The pace of Blood Moon Magick is super speed. There are new characters, lots of twists, danger, suspense, and the occasional laugh.

Paige is strong but angry (understandably). She handles all that she learns well but she's mad at her family for lying to her. She hasn't even gotten over them binding her powers yet and she's beginning to wonder if she knows her family at all.

I like S.M. Blooding's writing even more after listening to Blood Moon Magick. Kalinda Little does a good job narrating. She has good timing and inflection and I was able to follow the different characters by the changes in her voice. I did find Tony's voice annoying, though, and cringed every time he spoke.

I recommend Blood Moon Magick if you like fantasies with demons, witches, vampires, and shifters. This book does stand on its own but it would be better if you read Whisky Witches first.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by S.M. Blooding. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Book two picks up where the first left off, still chasing down the Big Bad: the demon Sven. I liked how the plot and world building expanded, though, and now we have more than just witches, demons, and angels. That's right, the rest of the paranormal world has joined the party. I also like that we learned more about Paige's family situation, learning about her husband and his death, explaining more about her daughter and why she lost her. That gap in information was bugging me in the first book.

The plot about the missing shifters was definitely intriguing, and all the dangers and risks that went along with it, some already realized, some to come, definitely made this book more exciting than the first. But I have to say, the "we kind of won" (thank you Buffy) ending is getting to me. Looks like the Big Bad, and maybe even Bigger Bad we shall see, will continue as a threat in these books.

I enjoy this narrator and I'm enjoying her even more with this second book. The different accents and voices are excellent, and I still think the inside the head voice effect is a brilliant touch. I would certainly listen to this narrator again.

Paranormal Romance
This is book 2 in the series Whiskey Witches: Origins
I recommend to read them all in order starting with the first season.
Page and Dexx learn that there are also vampires, shifters that they thought belonged to fairy tales; besides the angels, demons and witches. One of the new paranormals is her police partner of the Denver Colorado police is Jack; who is a vampire.
Page has a gateway to hell seared in her soul. Page and Dexx learn that the demon who placed the gateway to hell on Page's soul followed them from Louisiana to Denver. That he is behind the disappearance and killings of shifters. Besides the first demon there is a second demon who makes sure that the treaty between the shifters and witches is broken.
You will need to read to discover everything that happens after you have finished reading the first book Whiskey Witches
The first season: Origins contains the following books in order: Whiskey Witches, Blood Moon Magick, Barrel of Whiskey, Witches of the West
Second season: Shiftings contains the following books in order: Big Bad Djinn, Bear Moon, Desert Shaman, Lizard Wizard, Grizzly Attraction, Whiskey on the Rocks
Sven Seven Tails Crossover contains the following books in order: Double Double Demon Trouble, Mirror Mirror Demon Rubble, Dead Demon. . .Die

I love Paige and Dexx. She's still reeling from what her family did to her, even if it was for her own good. Rachel still has Leah (can you say wicked witch of the east?) and doesn't let her even talk to Paige. She and Dexx are getting closer and closer the longer they are together. Problem now is what Sven Seven Tails did to her has her afraid of her gift. This makes her new case more difficult plus, there's a new player in town. Paige is so funny when she finds out that other paranormals she was told were myths are real. There is so much that has been kept from her that her head is spinning. Turns out her partner, Tony, is part of that new community. Sweet FBI Jack ends up in Colorado, too. I can really relate to Paige and the plot is by no means predictable. The increasing developments add depth to all of the characters. The object now is for her to learn how to perfect her gift, help Dexx deal with his, protect her family and try to prevent a magical war. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I enjoyed book one, and this second book was even better. The story seemed to flow better, perhaps because the world building had already been done (for the most part). This book picks up almost immediately after book one finishes, I can't help but feel bad for Paige, she can't seem to catch a break, but it does make for exciting and enjoyable books.

I like Pagie more and more, she's very honest with herself about how she's feeling and what actions she's OK with taking or wishes she had taken, it's refreshing and shows a lot of strength.

The new characters are a very interesting addition, I love that more of the supernatural is popping up and that it's revealing some long kept secrets. I can't wait to see what the next book will bring.

The narration is excellent, the pacing and rhythm of the delivery is emotive and helped draw me into the story, I was so wrapped up I was surprised when it ended. The character voices were consistent and convincing.

Having recently solved a multiple murder case in Louisiana, Paige goes back home to Denver only to be thrown into a new case. Together with Dexx and her partner Tony, they investigate multiple disappearances and discover that the paranormal world is a much bigger place than she ever suspected.
Like the previous two books in the Whiskey Witches series, Blood Moon Magick is a well written story combining elements of mystery, paranormal drama and even a bit of romance. The characters are likable and believable and Blooding continually surprises you with new insights into their powers and personalities.
I love this series, and given the elements set in motion in this story I'm pretty sure I'm going to continue to love it well into the future.
A must read for Whiskey Witch fans.

Rcvd an advanced reader copy from booksprout for giving my two cents. 2 wks after paige's Louisiana ordeal, she is back in Denver, but things are more strange with her abilities. At a murder scene she finds a demon handprint and a calling card left for her. On top of that dexx and her stumble upon what appears to be a werewolf...are they even real? And her partner of 5 yrs admits hes a vampire...wth!! Paige doesn't know what to make of all this new information..witches demons and Angel's.. yes...but vampires and shifters? Some old treaty done by their ancestors, her grandmother keeping them in the dark and now shifters are being kidnapped.....what is Svens plan and how does paige stop it? Drama, new insights, paranormal, demons and past transgressions come to light.

Omg! This is such a fantastic series I can't wait to get the next book. I love everything about this, Paige is a demon summoner who is realizing there is alot more to her gift than she thought. She is fighting every kind of evil that is thrown at her and she keeps walking away as if it were nothing. Paige thought there were only Demons and Witches but she has come to the realization that her fictional characters are just as real, like Vampires, Wearwolves, Shifters, and a partner that can see dead people before they die. I would say more about this last character but it might spoil it for some readers who really hate that kind of thing. I recommend this series and do get book 1 first because it explains why Paige wanted to kill her mother. Literally!! I rated this 5 stars.

Paige and Dex go back to Denver and find out all isn't all it seems. Her partner Tony and FBI Agent Jack join in too. There are other paranormals disappearing and Sven makes another appearance. I love this story and the continuing of Paige's story. I love all the characters. I just wished I loved the narrator on this audio book but I don't and that is the only reason this book is not getting five stars. I would suggest reading instead of listening to get the full enjoyment of this book. I can't wait to see what the next adventure Paige takes us on.

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. This second book in the series takes off from the first and just continues to grow. The author does an amazing job with developing the characters and the story. Adding new talents to an already awesome story. The author's amazing imagination makes this story impossible to put down. I love stories where the main character's powers keep growing. Learning what Paige can do keeps the reader/listener interested. The narrator is good, but seems to be way too serious all the time. It is hard to explain. She does a pretty good job of separating the characters.

S.M. Blooding has brought us another great Whiskey Witches book! Book two picks up at Paige’s return to Denver, after the world fell beneath her feet in Louisiana.
I honestly think for a deeper understanding you should definitely go back and read the first in the series to have a better understanding.
The paranormal world to Paige is growing, and she really learns how to work with her gifts, after being closed off for so long. How can you go wrong with a Demon Summoner, Demon Hunter, a Vampire, Shifters, and a guy who sees dead people?
If you loved books like the Hollows series by Kim Harrison, this is hands down a series for you to fall in love with.

One of the best series that I've come across in a while, this is a 4 book series in which this particular book is the 2nd part. I was unable to put down this book, I read through books 2, 3 and 4 one after the other in 2 days flat.

The story is amazing simply superb and leaves you breathlessly waiting for more. It's like a roller coaster that starts on the 1st page and ends with the last word on the last page.

Paige is involved in a whole new mess. A spirit decides she is the perfect host and decided to join Paige in her body. She gets a new partner and has a hard time accepting there are vampires even as she accepts there are witches and shifters. Her attention to Dexx is becoming stronger and he is a distraction she does not need. When she is healed, Paige realizes she may have a chance at getting her daughter back. So much more happens in this book and I do not want to give too much away.

What a exciting read! This book is about detective Whiskey and her trek with demons, paranormal and things as such. The story is so interesting and the characters are fearless, gutsy, reckless and don't turn back on them. The story involves killings and who did it and why. Ms Whiskey has her hands full with the investigation taking her all over. Loved it, good book.

And Paige just had another slate of challenges and breakthroughs. She learns about the people around her. Insights into a paranormal world that exists everywhere and one she had no inkling about. Good read.
