Is book gets three stars from me because the book was mostly about causes.
Puppies, environment, saving parents, cancer, fur...there were just way too many causes that the author wanted in this book. Pick one, maybe two and then tell the story. When you take on the world in pleasure reading the read is not so pleasurable.
It could have been great if there had been less 'take on the world' and more of a story.

Fenici, oggi vi parlo del primo libro della serie “Gentlemen’s Club”: una storia d’amore abbastanza classica, scritta bene, con il giusto grado di suspense, anche se non particolarmente coinvolgente, almeno per quanto riguarda questo capitolo.
Un gran peccato, perché la storia, con qualche aggiunta, sarebbe stata certamente migliore.
Ricordatevi sempre che queste sono solo le opinioni personali, a ognuno di noi il libro può trasmettere qualcosa di diverso.
Se non fosse perché si parla di un club per uomini dove le donne fanno lo spogliarello, per il tipo di scrittura e il linguaggio usato il romanzo potrebbe essere catalogato tra quelli libri adolescenziali.
Ilana si è trasferita a New York, insieme alla sua migliore amica Bianca, per conseguire il master in economia; purtroppo è stata licenziata, perdendo così il lavoro che le permetteva di pagarsi le spese, e non è ancora riuscita a trovare una nuova occupazione.
Bianca sta mettendo da parte i soldi per poter lanciare una sua linea d’abbigliamento e, per questo motivo, lavora come spogliarellista al Gentlemen’s Club.
Di fronte alle difficoltà di Ilana nel trovare un nuovo lavoro, l’amica le propone di fare un provino per lavorare anche lei al Club.
Ilana è disperata, se non trova lavoro dovrà tornare a casa, e così si fa convincere a fare il provino; quando arriva il gran giorno, Bianca la aiuta a truccarsi e le presta i costumi di scena.
Il primo tentativo non va proprio benissimo e, temendo di far sfumare la possibilità di rimanere a New York, la ragazza chiede di poter ballare ancora una volta.
Non avendo niente da perdere, Ilana si esibisce senza pensieri e, proprio mentre Isabella e Max, i gestori del locale, stanno per prendere una decisione, arriva un cliente abituale molto importante, che li convince a darle il posto.
E così che Ilana entra a far parte del gruppo di ballo del Club, col nome di Raven.
Fin da subito alla ragazza vengono assegnati orari molto buoni, in fondo ha avuto il benestare di Nick Santoro, un cliente tenuto in grande considerazione.
Dalla sua prima sera Raven entra in contatto con Nick e la loro attrazione cresce velocemente, ma la reputazione dell’uomo frena la ragazza, che è già stata ferita.
Nick, da parte sua, si sente attratto da quella splendida donna che negli occhi ha ancora l’ingenuità di una persona buona di cuore, che non è stata ancora contaminata dall’ambiente in cui lavora.
La loro attrazione è forte e immediata e un giorno i due si incontrano per caso al parco; Ilana è convinta che senza trucco non verrà riconosciuta ma, invece, rimane piacevolmente colpita quando lui la saluta e dimostra un gran piacere nell’averla incontrata.
Parlando scoprono di avere molti interessi in comune, tra cui l’economia e, visto il piacere della reciproca compagnia, i due decidono di frequentarsi anche al di fuori dal Club.
La loro relazione cresce in fretta e Nick chiede alla ragazza di accompagnarlo alla raccolta fondi di una Fondazione per la Ricerca sul Cancro di cui è sostenitore; lei accetta ma le cose andranno diversamente dai piani che i due avevano fatto per concludere una serata speciale.
Volete sapere cosa succederà? Non vi resta che leggere il libro.

I loved this book!
This is about Nick and Ilana who meet in what seems at the beginning in a very familiar way. She is a stripper who is trying to earn enough money to finish her MBA, get her mom the surgery she so desperately needs to walk again and is just trying to make it in New York. She has been out of work for awhile and she doesn’t find a job soon she will need to move back home to Vermont. Ilana’s best friend is a stripper at a gentleman’s membership only club and talks Ilana into auditioning. Ilana a dancer as well finally caves and goes to audition – almost doesn’t get the job but a mysterious client persuades the owners to take a chance on her and she is hired. Nick of course is the mysterious wealthy (I might add) client.
Nick is young and wealthy who made his billions with a tech start up in which he sold for billions of dollars. He is in the process of looking at a new venture (one is in the works) and likes to take business associates to the club. He takes an interest in Ilana – they have a great amount of chemistry but both have been hurt in the past and they agree to take things slow and become friends and let their feelings grow from there.
There are so many things I love about this book – Nick and Ilana are great together. Not only is there a physical attraction they really do become friends. This is the first book I have read of Erika Rhys and I found her writing smart, witty and fun. The dialog between the two of them is fantastic. In fact the dialog throughout the book is fantastic. Erika does a great job with character development throughout, so for each character she introduces I knew they were there for a reason good or bad and I mean very bad. I don’t want to give to much away but there is a major cliffhanger at the end that is extremely frustrating for multiple reasons that I cant get into without spoilers.
I know cliffhangers like this sometimes put people off and to be honest I can be one of those people. I do hope you take the time to read this book – its well worth it.

Che dire ....all’inizio ho avuto un terribile dejavu quando descrive il club e qualche scena al suo interno. Poi sono ovviamente rimasta incantata dal protagonista maschile. Chi non vorrebbe incontrare um principe azzurro come Nick !! Devo dire che anche Ilena è un bel personaggio e la storia si fa interessante e intrigante. Avrei preferito fosse un unico libro. Non amo dover comprare altri libri e qui si parla di una trilogia !! Uffa, per ora lo metto da parte e poi valuterò. Però è un vero peccato. Vorrei che scrivessero mela sinossi quando c’è un seguito, mi eviterei scocciature !!!

What book did I just read?
Book started out pretty ok, but by Chapter 4 I started to feel like I was reading another book. Like word for word and scene for scene it felt like another book I'd read. Only difference were the names and a few other minor things. Not sure if I'll give the two volumes a go.

Good story. Ends in a cliffhanger.
I like Ilana. She is ambitious and studying for her MBA. She is a stripper to earn the money. Ilana and Nick have good chemistry. I the pace of their romance. Nick is not overbearing, and he supports Ilana's goals. Both are strong characters and do not let enemies easily intimidate them. I will read the next book.

Irritated
If I had known this was a serial, I wouldn't have read it. To stop it in a crucial part and expect me to buy the next book was lousy. I don't see me making the purchase even though I did like the characters and the story.

Truly enjoyed this book. While i have read this story line before this version was much richer in character development and setting and even support cast. Give it a read.

Ilana is about down to her last dime with no job prospects in sight. Her best friend comes to her rescue in the form of an audition at The Gentleman's Club. Nick see Ilana's audition and urges the owners to hire her. Although warned by her bestie, Ilana can't deny her attraction to Nick. They become friends after a chance meeting in a park. Feelings start to grow but outside forces threaten at every turn.
We are left with a cliff hanger here. This is an intriguing book with lots of bad guy suspects threatening Nick and Ilana. Can't wait to read book 2!

A Review of The Gentlemen's Club by Erika Rhys
Great storyline - 5 stars
We first meet Ilana when she is talking with her best friend/roommate about not being able to find a job. She is a grad student that has been laid off and not been able to find another job in the last four months. Her savings are running low, along with her spirits. Bianca (her best friend/roomie) is trying to convince Ilana that she should try out for a position at the Gentlemen's club that she works for. Ilana wants to stay in New York to finish her MBA, but she also wants to help her mother with her health issues. She finally decides that if she can work at the club and make enough money to help pay for her mother's surgery and finish her MBA, then she has to do what needs to be done.
Nick is one of the A-list clients at the club and just happens to show up when Ilana is doing her audition performance. She gets the job and ends up doing her first lap dance for Nick. Over the next couple of weeks, they start hanging out together and getting to know each other outside of the club. She has been told that he is a notorious playboy and warned to stay away from him, but they keep getting closer.
"Heat builds between them. Conflicts emerge. And just as Ilana realizes that she's falling hard for Nick, his past comes back to haunt him in ways that threaten to destroy them both. Is Nick Santoro the man of her dreams, or the biggest mistake of her life?" This book ends on a cliffhanger, so if you despise them, wait until all three books are out, but you definitely want to read this series. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series to come out, just to find out what happens after the bombshell cliffhanger we were left with here.

Bills are due, her mother needs money for an expensive and experimental surgery that will help her walk again. She finds herself desperate and in need of money. Her best friend suggest she come and work with her at the gentleman's club where she can make a lot of money to send to her mom and be able to finish her MBA. This is where she meets Nick.
Nick is a business man, all sexy, good looking and there is an instant attraction between them. They develop a friendship that soon turns into a relationship. There story is sweet. they are trying to take things slow, get to know each other on a personal level and soon this intensifies.
You will have to get the book and read it for yourself as I don't want to give to much away. This is a must read and you won't regret getting it. The cliffhanger at the end, let's just say I can't wait for #2 to come out.

quest'autrice mi era piaciuta e ho acquistato la trilogia ad occhi chiusi. peccato. questa storia non ha nessun mordente, è piatta e priva di emozioni. non riesco a finire nemmeno il primo volume.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Fantastic Book!! I love Erika Rhys as a writer and am a fan of all her books! I love the story of Llana and Nick, all the ups and downs kept me hooked and wanting more! GREAT BOOK and now I am extremely excited for Vol. 2 to come out!

Oh dear. This started off great. I thought I was getting a steamy read but instead I got a soft, caring, puppy loving hero who wasn't at all what I thought he was going to be!!!
There wer no sexy scenes to speak of and just as they were finally giving into their feelings ( it read like 16 year olds having their first stab at love!) they had a car crash.
Every time they got in a car together something went wrong.
Needless to say I won't be bothering with the next one.
