Michael: A Scrooged Christmas is a really wonderful, sweet and uplifting Christmas romance. I really love Ms. Adams books, she never ceases to draw me into her stories and captivate me from start to finish. Even though this is a very short, easy read- the story wasn’t lacking on content. I am amazed at how much Ms. Adams packed into such a short space.
Michael Barnes is the medical adviser for the United States Army, he has recently returned from serving overseas. His life revolves around his successful career as he doesn’t have much of a social life. Michael is still stinging from the painful breakup with his fiancé a year earlier and has no interest in dating. There is an internal block whenever he tries to move on with his life, something is holding him back and he feels a little stuck. Because of his experience and the heartache it brought, Michael has built a barrier around his heart and lost his joy for life. With Christmas fast approaching, Michael is dreading all the festivities that come with the holiday season. He can’t wait to get Christmas over and done with- his has embraced his inner Scrooge and lost his holiday spirit. His life seems set in stone, until he is literally bowled over by a blast from the past.
Holly Edwards is a pocket size pixie of a woman, but with a huge spirit. Her joy-de-vie is contagious and she embraces life fully, not wanting to miss a thing. She should come with a warning label though, because she is the most accident prone, mega klutz that you could ever meet. When she has another klutzy moment, she finds herself sprawled on the floor, tangled up with her childhood crush. She hasn’t see Michael since he left for college, and now seeing him again after all this time brings all her old feelings rushing to the surface again.
Will this unexpected reunion open up the possibilities for the future and encourage Michael to move forward in his life, or will he choose to remain stuck in the past? Will Holly’s love of life and everything Christmas rekindle Michaels Christmas spirit and vanquish his inner Scrooge?
I loved this charming story. The quotes at the beginning of each chapter were a great addition to the story and helped set the mood.
This is a very enjoyable and light-hearted read and I am looking forward to more from Ms. Adams.
Thank you, Ms. Adams!
