Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.

Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.

In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.

And thus it ends. The whole run took around 15 years, I learned about the book once I saw the TV series. Then I started reading and after reading a few issues every once in a while and following a reading order I reached the end Mark aka Invincible took us on a little history lesson to start the final issue and then we had a montage of different events and the story goes about 450+ years more. This series was wonderful and I am glad to have read the series like most of the wonderful books so let's say goodbye to a great friends and let's look for new friends and along the way just Keep on Reading.

I have always loved comics, and I have I can. I love comics to bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and hope always to love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics, Diamond Comics, or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I just want to Keep on Reading.

I am sad to see this series come to an end. Invincible's been a staple on my comic pile for at least seven years. While it would be impossible to end this perfectly neat, the time-skips forward to choice moments was well done, though it could not do the task without leaving me STILL in desire for more. Each of those scenes could have been a comic or story-arc in length. Kirkman, though, is incredibly versatile so we get a story told proudly in panels or in volumes. I'm just selfish for wanting both.

Here's hoping this universe might not be put entirely on the shelf.

(I'm experimenting with a personal checklist in order to understand what I look for in the genre. This got 41.5/50)

It’s with a heavy heart that I picked up this comic. I’ve probably read the first 100 issues 3x now across a number of years waiting for the next one to come out...a series that’s spanned monthly issues for 15 years with the same writers and artists since the beginning. What a rare gem this is.

I love how everything has been wrapped up in this final issue. I love the art, I love the sentiment, I love the throwbacks and I love that such a huge community came together and supported this indie comic over the last decade to give me one of the pleasurable reading experiences in my life.

I finished the Invincible series in a span of a month and I loved every second of it. It was a joy to always come back to, especially in the midst of my current reading pile that’s filled with mystery & horror.

I love the art. It’s so atmospheric and you can tell between the different comic book artists (my favorite being Ottley) but they all add something to the books.

I love the character development. Seeing Mark grow was the best part of it. The fact that he wanted to be a superhero for so long but only realized at the end that he wasn’t one at all. Mark defied but also exemplified what a superhuman was and is.

I love how it’s so different from other comics and tropes. I loved seeing a fat superhero, how pregnancy affects a woman’s body, and that it’s okay. I loved seeing an invincible character be vulnerable.

The ending was a perfect end to the series. Mark has a lot after 500 years. As he should.

Some qualms:

1) The rape scene was very uncomfortable but I’m sure it was meant to elicit that reaction. Like I said, I love seeing a character be vulnerable, but that was painful. I don’t like the fact that the rapist got a redemption thing at the end. I don’t like how it was justified by Nolan. It shouldn’t be justified ever.

2) So many unnecessary boob shots. Very male gaze-y at times, especially with Atom Eve and adult Monster Girl. I know that the audience is mainly cishet men and I’m reading this pretty late when people are more aware of this kind of thing, but it’s still ew. For example, that moment when Atom Eve saved herself from dying, thereby transforming her body with a fuller chest and curvier hips, and she said she did it for an “upgrade.”

3) I wish there were more about Nolan killing all those people. That was so much tragedy still. Even with Dinosaurus. I feel like they don’t really go deep on the regular humans who were affected by the superheroes’ decisions. Maybe this just isn’t the comic for that but it would have been nice if they touched on that for a bit.

4) The ending felt a little rushed, even though everything fit perfectly like a puzzle. I just wanted to see more of what happened. Like Oliver! Was that really it with him? He was such a big part of the book then he was just gone. Just like Cecil. What about Allen and the Coalition? So many unanswered questions and lost opportunities to dig deeper into the story.

Overall though, this series is still a 5/5 and one of the best comics I’ve ever read. The qualms are just my nit-picks that also show how passionate I am about the series and the fact that I value it so much that I just mainly want more. This has turned me into a comic book fan and I’m looking forward to reading more in this medium. I can’t wait to see this unfold in the show as well. Show-watchers are in for a wild ride!
