If I could give this book negative stars I would. Did the authors even READ Harry Potter??
Joke on the back cover: "How does a wizard order dinner? A: Expecto Pizza!" --Can we talk about how that's totally the wrong spell and not really funny?
"What kind of car does the Dark Lord Drive?" CORRECT ANSWER: HE DOESN'T TOUCH MUGGLE ITEMS WITH A TEN FOOT POLE. We won't even talk about the answer the book gives.
Not all of the jokes are bad, but the good ones don't even begin to make up for the HORRIBLE ones that don't even make sense. Example: "Why are Slytherin's house colors green and silver? A: Because red and gold were already taken." --What?
Seriously, this book made me want to cry and rip my hair out. If you are a hardcore Harry Potter fan, don't read it. And just so you know, I'm not usually this harsh on reviews, so please take note and know that you have been forewarned.
why did i even waste my time? almost all the jokes were bad. there were some i'd laugh at, but only if my 7 yo nephew told them. the best thing about the book was the illustrations: those were cute.
some jokes got me laughing like crazy but most of the jokes just don't feel right at all. maybe (just maybe) my highschool self would enjoy this but at my age and it has been years since i've read and watched the last installment, the nostalgia always lingers whenever the subject is Harry Potter hence the rating.
The chapters that worked best for me were 7 (the knock-knock jokes), 10 (with the anagrams, tongue-twisters and swifties) and 11 (Tom Riddle's riddles). If you are not a fan of groan-inducing "Dad Jokes", much of this book will turn you off.
I bought this for my 7 year old nephew who shares my (grown up) love for all things Harry Potter. He used to make up silly, random Harry Potter jokes when he was a little younger...they were mostly funny because they were bizarre and didn't make a whole lot of sense...how little kids can be, sometimes. I wanted to read the book first and it had me smiling the whole way through. Cute and wacky, pun-filled jokes, and a lot of good ones. I think he's gonna love this book!
Have you ever read a book that was just bad? That is this book. The jokes in here seem to be trying too hard to be funny. The funniest part, in my opinion (and just about the only), was the last You Know You're a Potterhead... but the contents are culled from various memes and lists off the internet.
Should you read it? If you are a major, extreme Potterhead, yes, just to say that you have read it and to share wizarding puns and jokes with others of your ilk. If you like jokes that make others groan, yes. The rest of you, it is like Ginny Weasley, not really necessary.
“Q. What did Harry and Ron have in common when they met? A. One had a scar, and the other had Scabbers.” It was good. Some jokes were good some were just cheesey. They’re all Harry Potter jokes and some were Fantastic Beasts jokes. There were a few that made me go haha and they were all pretty clever, but most of them just made me go wow that’s kind of stupid. But it really wasn’t terrible. Now I’ll have some cheesey jokes to tell whenever I get bored!
If I wasn't a Harry Potter fan I would have hate this book. The jokes aren't good because they where referred to Harry Potter that's the only reason I liked some of the jokes
If you like the Harry Potter oeuvre, give this a miss. Half an hour you will never get back, for a series of groaners which would not amuse anyone, and I include small children in the audience
Great jokes for kids. Some were real groaners but some were genuinely funny as an adult. Some bad puns. Some repeats. Overall, an enjoyable joke book for elementary age kids.
Meh. Some of the jokes in here were just terrible. There were a few that were actually funny, and several that I think kids would like a lot. This was definitely meant for a young audience. It was a very quick read.
I enjoyed the puns and some of the "dad jokes", but there were quite a few jokes that left me wondering if I had missed something in the books and movies. I'm glad this was a library book and not one of my own.
Can I give negative stars? I was looking at the books on Kindle Unlimited and found this. The jokes were horrible. They were just dumb. The jokes sound like the author was trying to hard to make them funny.
Why did I buy this book?!? I saw it at a bookstore and was like oh this would be a good book! NO it was horrible. The jokes didn’t even make sense. It was like they watched the first movie and was like oh I can write a book about Harry Potter now. If you like Harry Potter do NOT read.
Adorable joke book. I won this in a giveaway and I'm gifting it to my nephew, but as an adult potter fan, i enjoyed it as well. Full of clean jokes that genuinely made me giggle.
I liked the third to last chapter that had "Harry Swifties." Other chapters were not as creative and a bit repetitive. Still fun to read, but didn't have that many distinguishing jokes.
