Holy War

Rate this book
A Pulitzer-pursuing reporter is thrust into the story of her dreams—and nightmares—when she discovers a terrorist plot to attack the Pacific Northwest.

Journalist Cassandra Hall is always searching for a huge story, but she’s not expecting to stumble into it on a ferry as she returns from her dad’s funeral in Alaska. After terrorists kidnap her, she must find a way to free herself and alert the authorities about a suitcase nuke smuggled into the Seattle area.

Along the way, spiritual forces provide invisible assistance… or attacks. For Cassandra’s real battle is not against flesh and blood terrorists, but against the spiritual rulers of wickedness in heavenly places.

As she assists the FBI, Cassandra finds herself captivated by Special Agent David Lansing, who is assigned to lead the investigation and catch the terrorists. Her pursuit of the big scoop repeatedly conflicts with his need for confidentiality. Will Cassandra be able to win David’s heart… and her Pulitzer?

New to reading Jamie Lee Grey

Ms. Grey has a wonderful talent given to her by our Lord Himself! She is an amazing storyteller. I started with the series Daughter of Babylon (which was a great series!) and just finished Holy War. Now I’m about to start Band of Believers. Ms. Grey is one of those authors that once you read one of her books, you just have to read everything she’s wrote!
Holy War was a thrilling read. Very suspenseful with just a hint of a beginning of romance. I’d love to see more of Cassie and David since they just started the romance at the end of the story. Ooooppppps! Spoiler alert!
David is an FBI Agent and a strong Christian. Cassie is a reporter and her faith is flimsy, that is until she is kidnapped for seeing something she wasn’t supposed to see. Her curiosity gets in trouble more than once! And of course I have to add in the spiritual battle that is happening in our midsts. By God’s intervention, she is spared death. She is able to report what she saw to the FBI.
Without giving away anything else I’ll stop here.
Ms. Grey’s books have all been superb so far. She’s worth more than 5 stars!

Excellent,

Characters come alive with each page turn. Her writing is clean and clear managing to take us from abject terror to hints of sweet romance. I’m very impressed with Holy War and can’t wait to start Dissent!

Action and suspense

This was a good book that captured my attention.
I liked the demon and angelic influence. I loved the night janitor who would praise and worship while working.

While I liked that story line so much of the book was incorrect in facts and some things were puzzling to me. Like do demons really need sleep? I dont think they do because they are spiritual beings and would have no physical need for sleep. Also demons won't get sun burned, because of the same reason. Living in hell, I doubt the sun would harm them any.

I also wondered why the terrorist happened to have 3 space blankets and available, when the mission was only to be accomplished by him and his brother.

I didn't understand why the Director hated David. Also the Director of the FBI is really stationed in Washington DC. The heads of the field offices are called Special Agents. Those special agents would report to the Director who would report to the President.

I love this author and her heart for God, but this story needed more research.

Current day near Seattle, Washington

Main Characters:
Fahad Al-Jamil: Terrorist
Amir Al-Jamil, : Fahad’s brother, Terrorist
Cassandra Hall: Reporter with photographic memory
David Lansing: FBI tactical team leader
Stormy Hollis: Member of the FBI tactical team
Torque, Lenon, Pinion: Demons intent on destruction
Pascal, Nangel: Guardian angels watching David and Cassandra
Vincent Morelock: Not a very nice FBI Director

I am so drawn to Jamie Lee Grey’s stories. They are always full of suspense and often with a mild, clean romance. My kind of book.

Is this one we have terrorists with a bomb, planning to set it off in an area to reach a nationwide impact, and not a major city. One that will spread its radioactive poison across the US. The major characters are in a race to stop the terrorists through mountain passes on a variety of vehicles. What a ride!

Quick easy read, but extremely entertaining and thought-provoking. Loved the book's faith inclusion and Gospel presented with someone coming to Christ.

My favorite of this author!

Stand-alone (or first in a series?), this is my favorite of all this author’s books! This one has terrorists taking the Alaska ferry to Washington and taking their jihad to my home state and “my” mountain! Very well researched and thrilling from start to finish! Can a journalist who likes to expose secrets and an FBI agent who tries to keep secrets really get along? I sure hope there are more coming in this series!

This was a well written book with a good plot and a storyline that moves along briskly. If you are looking for a fast thriller with Christian elements, this is the book for you. The spiritual element is important. The reason I have given four, rather than five, stars is because for me there was a little bit too much technical information regarding bombs. Otherwise a great read.

It's coming.....Easy read for teenagers to seniors. Thought provoking, what are you going to do, where are you going to go, how will you survive. The time is coming, the microchip is here, are you ready?

It's a good read, it flows, it causes you to think about the possibilities, about the near future, about my children and grandchildren.

WOW I did not know much about what was going to happen but it was wonderful.

Seeing the struggle between Cassandra and David's jobs made me realize this is a wonderful way to point out what is important. Love of earthly things or choosing the eternal life. Being a believer is one thing but living the life is another. Wonderful lesson. Thank you.

Exciting read!

What an exciting read this was about Cassandra finding herself in the middle of a terrorist plot and working with a handsome FBI agent! I loved how true struggles of faith in God were interwoven into all of the action. The developing of the relationship between David and Cassandra also added to the page turning. I hope to read more by this author!

Really Great Story

I truly enjoyed Holy War. Reflecting much of current events and concerns, around the world, the story is filled with intrigue and excitement. In addition, sharing the love of Christ was well done. I think it ended too abruptly- but maybe that's so that it will pick up where David and Cassandra left off.

Jamie Lee Grey tells a great story

Terrorists have a plan to use a nuclear bomb in the US to kill as many as possible in the name of Allah. What can be done to stop them. The FBI will try to stop them and save the world as well.

This is a pretty good book. A little too much on details. I did skim a little at one point. Over all worth reading.
