So book 5, what can I say that I have not already said for the past four books, this series just got me so involved that I am reading way into the night till I finish the whole book! The rift between Hugh and Trinity is finally breached and the war is on full blast as the allied army takes the war to the city! this was so unexpected and really timely since the council where ready to launch a full blast war with weapons. We get the pleasure of seeing some of the vile characters finally wiped out of the picture but where is the real beast of the story, Conguise? Has he escaped once again? we also get to see some good people get killed which is a shame but that is what happens in every war! All I can say is that even though this series is so captivating I am really ready to get to the end now and I am looking forward to book 6 but want this to be the last in the series maybe finally all loose ends will be tied up and we get to see some harmonious living between all classes, everyone enjoying equally the right to live with the dignity and respect all should enjoy!! So bring on book 6 Ms. O'Dea.

I found this one a bit slow to pick up, particularly the first part. But it was good to see the characters evolve.
Also, the bits with the forest witch were quite interesting and I enjoyed seeing how her prophecies unfolded. Secrets began being unveiled and I was captured by how the characters handled this new information.
The war does indeed end but there is much left to deal with, so I am looking forward to the next book.

In this fifth book of The Lake of Sins series the plotlines have split. The main characters have been separated leaving the reader to follow each of them on their journeys in a world on the verge of all-out war. Adventure is high and the pages will fly by as they each try to save their world and way of life.

Trinity left Jethro drugged in his tent when she and Travis made their escape. Now Jethro must face the consequences of his foolish action, allowing the most sought after fugitive to break free. When he wakes it is to find Trinity gone and himself under arrest. What punishment will the council and Supreme Almighty find fit for his crimes?

Trinity is safely away from the searching army, but how safe are she, Travis and Mirra on the island of the Forest Witch. Will Mirra survive the difficult birth of her cubs? How did the Witch come to be in the area at the right time for their rescue? Trinity needs to get back to the Allied Classes, but she can go nowhere with Mirra’s health in danger.

Hugh is working at the lab. He has the serum to perfect as well as his new research to prove that all classes are genetically related. Working in his isolation, Hugh doesn’t even know that Trinity has been missing. What will Hugh do when he finds out? Will he remain to complete the job, or go after Trinity himself?

The Allied Classes are in turmoil with the absence of their leader and Trinity’s disappearance. What will become of the war without their leader to rally them?
Get Whispers from the Past and join the fight for freedom.

Whew! Best word I know to describe the vineyard of stories through several generations of genetic experiments and hate in many forms. This series drew me in after reading the Chimera Chronicles/ Conguise Experiment series. It continues a story taking place several years after the Chronicles and continues to expand the universe of Almighty's and their political/racial systems/ We learn of Trinity, a Servant/Producer mix: Gaar, a Handler; Mirra, a Tracker and bonded to Gaar; Tim, House Servant and father of Trinity; Millie, a Producer, mother of Trinity; Jackson, Guard and protector of Hugh, an Almighty. We learn of the true uses and characteristics of each class; the terrible innerweb of actions and functions they provide. The genetic histories are very intriguing and drive the reader forward at an ever increasing pace to read their futures and find answers to the readers unspoken questions. I was so caught in this swirling mix of hopeful dreams and grim reality that each book leapt into my hands as soon as the previous one ended. And there will be more to come in this series I hope. Fascinating tale of morality and social mores in the future although it is certainly part of our past and present worlds too. I would highly recommend this author and her genre for suspense and thrillers too!

This final book in the "Lake of Sins" series did not disappoint. There were so many disruptions and revelations in this episode as some new players were introduced, some forming important friendships with the lead characters and remaining and others there only making a brief appearance before they are removed from the storyline. I will sorely miss reading about Trinity, Hugh, Jethro, Mirra, Gaar, Jackson, and the other characters in their community. This story ended with progress made in Trinity and Hugh's future and the relief for the under classes. However, there were so many questions left unanswered. I truly hope the author will continue this series in the future. Great! Great! Story!!!!! I look forward to reading more and more and more about these people and their fascinating lives!!!!!

I have never been so grateful to having insomnia, it meant that I have been able to binge read these last 3 books in this series! This one shed more light on the characters and I’m now patiently waiting to see where the author goes with this series. This amazing world that she has created and led us through still has so much to offer. This is one series that you shall kick yourself over not starting to read sooner so, if you are new to the series start getting the earlier books and get reading, there really is an amazing story just sitting there waiting for you!

Poor Trinity. She betrayed Hugh to save herself and Travis. Now everyone knows what she did, including Hugh, and he is furious! But when tempers cool and rational thoughts set in, their true feelings for each other and the fact that they love each other unite them as a couple. About time too! Many secrets are exposed in all their sordid glory as the war continues. And now Jethro has been captured by Hugh and his allies. Where will this go now?

This was another thrilling story in this series. The angst this author creates for the reader is amazing. The triangle of Trinity, Hugh and Jethro is so agonising and we don't know who to root for at times, and this on top of the fight for freedom and the courage of some of the characters we have grown to love. Whispers from the Past answers many of our questions and raises more. We get to see Trinity finally begin to mature and understand why Hugh is always telling her what to do; and we learn the secret of Gaar and Mirra's bond. Book 6 is eagerly awaited.

I started this series with the free first or prequel - Escape. It is so good and captivating that I knew I'd have to read more. When the opportunity to read ARC of this book came up, how could I not take it, especially as poor as I am? But it would have been worth cutting out a meal or two to get more of this series. Absolutely captivating series.

Book 5 in the Lake of Sins series, Whispers From the Past by L. S. O’Dea takes us through the end of the war, resolves the Hugh-Trinity relationship, and exposes the past. I enjoyed the story, the tension was just right, and I hated to say goodbye to some of the characters. Fortunately, all the issues are not resolved and there will be a sequence.

Overall, Whispers From the Past is an entertaining read. I can’t wait to see what will happen next.

Lake of Sins Book 5

High Hugh Truent, a scientist, discovers that all of the different classes of people basically share the same DNA. He gathers all different classes together to fight a war against the Almighty's. This whole series has been brilliant. One con I have is the almost constant mention of Hugh Truent running his hand through his hair. If you ignore that one issue, Ms. O'Dea has written an exciting series about the Lake of Sins.

This is a very intriguing story with lots of surprises. IT definitely keeps you guessing and makes you want to read right thru to the end.

The POV varies among the characters which keeps it interesting to me. It makes me feel closer to the characters when I hear their thoughts and feelings directly.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Wow, I could not put it down! The best in the series yet. It is fast moving and action packed; lots of questions get answered and issues resolved and more atrocities uncovered in this installment. If you have been following the Lake of Sins series then know this is a compelling read. I begrudged any time I had to spend away from my kindle and can not wait for the next book.

Brilliant

The hopes and dreams of so many are tied to winning this war, will they all survive and what will that even mean. Brilliantly wraps up lots of the preceding story, but the story has much more to tell it seems.

Totally hooked on this series of books and I’m desperate to read the next one. I’m glad Jethro is seeing a different view at the end of the books and I like the influence Indy has on him.
