I’m really enjoying these seasonal stories by Marie Harte. ANY GIVEN SNOW DAY is a standalone novel but I do think that there’s plenty of ways she can make this into a series. Similar to her other books, this book is filled with fun banter and humor. This is one of my favorite things about Harte’s stories. While her books do have awesome conflict in them, she really does take her time building relationships between the characters so that you definitely feel the strong connection between all characters, both main and secondary.

For football fans, I think you would really enjoy this book. There are quite a lot of sports terms and scenes here so it’s really a perfect Sports Romance. I dislike series that market themselves as Sports Romances but don’t actually feature anything about the sport in the book. With this one, however, you can definitely tell that Harte has studied the sport and done her research.

If you haven’t tried Marie Harte’s books before, I would highly suggest trying at least one of them out. Her Contemporary Romances are amongst my favorites and she has never let me down.

Marie Harte offers up a small town romance set around the holidays from October through December in Any Given Snow Day. A single mother with a teenage son and the town’s newest resident, a retired at 35 star NFL player, find each other amid small town gossip, her memories of her late husband, her son’s attitude and hero worship, and his need to find some way to deal with his new life. Fun, intelligent, snarky, and a side of sexy, Any Given Day was a fabulous holiday romance.

There was so much I loved about this book including the hero Mitch “Flash” Flashman who honestly didn’t like his celebrity status and tried hard to just be a regular citizen of Hope’s Turn, Oregon. It was interesting watching him come to terms with his new life, realizing his passion, and falling in love with not only a woman, but her teenage son as well. I liked that he didn’t have everything figured out despite having fame and fortune and that he found peace helping his brother coach the town’s high school football team and mentoring the boys especially Simon.

Ever since her husband died seven years ago, Becca Bragg has worked hard to be both mom and dad to her son, Simon and make her tea shop a success. She loves both her son and her shop and while she has dated some, she hasn’t met anyone who comes close to what she had with her late husband until Mitch and what she believes is his giant ego saunters into her life.

This book was fun, spontaneous, and there was something refreshing about this single mom making the first big move at a really interesting time. On top of that, I loved that Becca wasn’t impressed by Mitch’s celebrity, his money or what he could do for her, in fact she hated that they were not on the same playing field when it came to finances. All of those things were the reasons Mitch enjoyed Becca because she was real and honest, almost to a fault as was her son. Simon played a bit part in this book because he realized long before they both did that there was something brewing between them and he worked hard to make sure they had time together for just the two of them. More than that though, Simon made sure Mitch was a good man in life with a little help from his friends.

While there were a few moments of doubt and a few arguments, overall they did a good job of communicating especially when given a nudge from friends and relatives.

I loved this charming holiday story!

Marie Harte has a delightful holiday story to read, one that offers up a small town romance during the holidays. What drew me in were the sexy, contemporary, fun, witty banter, earnest, good humor, and small town romance of the main characters in this story plus the great secondary characters.
Becka Bragg is the woman you could find as your next door neighbor. She is down to earth, sweet, a single mother raising her now 14-year-old son on her own. She's a young widow trying to it all on her own while running her own business. She does get help from her cousin Nora but she is basically doing everything on her own. Because she is doing it all on her on, going from sunup to sundown, she doesn’t have time for a personal life since she has her son Simon and her business.
Mitch Flashman has left the NFL having won two Super Bowls and has followed his brother's footsteps to a small town in Oregon. His brother is the coach for the local high school football team so Mitch steps up to help his brother Deacon with his football duties. Simon happens to be one of the students on the team. This is how handsome Mitch and spunky Becka meet.
There are definite sparks between Mitch and Becka. Becka is still reeling from a huge loss in her past and then she has Mitch front and center in her life. The journey on their romance wasn’t rainbows and unicorns. It was ups and downs. Mitch had to work hard and prove he was serious, that he wanted to be with Becka while Becka was showing she was with him not for his money but for him only. You are going to be surprised on who makes the first move to get their romance truly going. They make a great couple and they feel so real, like they are someone I know, like people I hang out with. I love how Marie Harte writes her characters to feel real and genuine. I loved the secondary characters --- Simon, Nora and Deacon0- they enhanced this story and make it even more special.
This is a fantastic holiday story and I hope to read more from Hope’s Turn Oregon. The people here are pretty special. I voluntarily reviewed this story that kept me very interested until the very end.

Linda’s two friends gave Nora the evil eye...the Smith sisters, Bitchy and Vicious wrapped up in a package of Botox, tummy tucks, and trust funds.

Mitch and Becca had a false start, but he slowly charms his way into Simon and Becca’s lives. Returning the favour, she saves him from man-eating ’Linda’.

Throughout we see everyone conspire at matchmaking. Simon is priceless and industrious, at fourteen he’s wise beyond his years as he plots his mother’s future romance.

Simon and his teammates seeking guidance counselling from Mitch (Flash).

Felix Warren wanting out of the ‘closet’, then before Mitch recovered, another boy stood waited his turn. “Reynolds?”
“Yeah, Flash. Can I talk to you?” Inwardly, groaning, he wondered what the odds were that he’d be slammed with two personal problems when for weeks no one had asked him anything unless it had to do with football.
“What’s up, Reynolds?”
“I’ve got a problem and could use some advice”....
Mitch sighed. “Sure. I’ll try to help. What’s the problem?”
“Well, I think I love my stepsister.” Mitch wanted to run from the room. “What’s that?” Reynolds blushed. “That sounds bad. But really, she’s not my stepsister yet.” “Explain.” When he did, Mitch wanted to grab his brother, plunk him in his chair, then run for the hills. “You’re telling me you and Sue are in love, but you’re afraid your mother dating her father will make you guys incestuous? Is that the gist?” “Um, yeah. We’re not all Game of Thrones here, Flash. I mean, it’s a small town, but we don’t kiss cousins and stuff.” Mitch felt a headache creeping on.

“You owe me, Bragg.” Reynolds mock-punched Simon in the arm. “I know, I know.”“So?” Reynolds snickered. “Think he about sh*t a brick when I mentioned being in love with my ‘stepsister.’ I think I scared him, because he left the office in a hurry. You still want Rodriguez to corner him with a sob story about his alcoholic grandparents?” Rod’s grandmother liked her vodka every night, so his mom had taken it away. Then his grandma started hitting the cough syrup a little too hard. Of course, she’d also been coughing a lot due to a cold. Rod thought the cough syrup might have alcohol in it but wasn’t sure. Still, Simon thought the guy could spin it.
“Um, ask Rod to grab Flash in the restroom. But don’t let on I told you guys to talk to him, okay? When the season ends, this’ll be a great gag to brag about.”
“How we pranked Flash? Hell yeah.”
“See ya. Have a nice weekend with your ‘stepsister.’” Sue, his girlfriend, had two dads. No way one of them was stepping out to date Reynolds’ mom. They both snickered at that. A moment later, Rod moved past him for the restroom, and Simon heard him say, “Hey, Flash. Can I talk to you for a minutes”?

“You know, upon further reflection, I’m probably eating to compensate for my grief and inadequacy.”
“Or because you’re a growing teenager who’s always hungry.”
“Underneath my fun-loving ways, I might actually be lonely. No one to fight with but Aunt Nora. And she’s no fun, always acting like we’re not the same because she’s a grownup. I mean, Mom, how will I function as an adult when I have no idea how to share with others? And let’s face it. You’re not getting any younger. If you did want to have another kid, now would probably be a good time. When women get over the age of thirty-three, the chances for problematic pregnancies go way up.”

“Let me get this straight. No football-mafia type shenanigans. No girlfriends on the side. I have to like Nora and Simon, and I can’t shoot up or snort lines of cocaine whenever I feel like it. That about it?”
Mitch started laughing. “Man, Becca. You drive a hard bargain, but okay. I’ll ditch the drugs and the women as soon as you leave tonight. How’s that?” “Laugh it up, player.”

This political interplay was unnecessary:::
“Hey, Mom. It’s Mitch”.
“It’s my only clean apron after Simon trashed my favorite one.”
“It was worse than that one. It has a picture of Justin Trudeau smiling on it. Ew.”
“Oh?”
“Mom’s not-so-secret crush. And my new daddy, if I’m good.”
“No pie for you. And for your information, I like Trudeau’s policies.”
“And his looks. There, I said it. It’s nice to see a politician with a brain, charm, and looks who’s under the age of ninety.”

I liked the story but it wasn't what I was expecting at all. By the title I was thinking they gert snowed in somewhere together and get to know each other better. No. Not so much.

I liked Mitch. I liked how he was with the football team and his brother. Becca and her son were also ok. I just didn't get Mitch and Becca together. Becca questions this through out the story yet she throws herself at him the first time she is over for dinner. I was confused.

I found myself more interested in her cousin and Mitch's brother. That could be an interesting read.

Just ok for me.

My Review:
ooh, I liked this book, although I'll be honest with you, it didn't have that much of a holiday feel. Although it did end at Christmastime, the book takes place throughout the entire fall (i.e. football season for high school football which this retired NFL player helps out on...and that's how he meets this single mom of one of the players). But that cover is gorgeous and I love the play on words for the title, so I can forgive that tiniest little blip.

Everything about this book was fun. I really, really loved it. I love that Becca is just as sarcastic and snarky as he 14 yo son. OMG, I loved Simon. He was fun and snarky and so darn smart-alecky...just like a 14 yo would be, but I love that his mom has given him the self confidence to own that and stand up for what he thinks and believes. Seriously, even if the rest of the book wasn't as good as it was (which it totally rocked), I would have loved this book for the interactions between Simon and all the adults in his life, but especially between him and his mom and him and Mitch.

And then there's the romance, which I kind of adored, too. Like her son, Becca doesn't put up with much and having an egocentric, rich, famous NFL player in their midst with all the moms flinging themselves at him...yeah, Becca doesn't think too highly of the guy. But that's what makes Mitch notice her in amongst the masses...she doesn't drool over him like everyone else. In fact, he's pretty sure that she doesn't even like him. Add that to her kid who's entirely too good at football for his age, and Mitch is most definitely intrigued.

So, yeah...I really liked this one...a LOT. I definitely recommend it. Also, I own several of Marie Harte's books, I've never read any of her stories. I need to rectify that and pull some of these out of my TBR pile.

Any Given Snow Day was totally different from what I was expecting (in a sports-related romance) and more than I could have asked for. The excerpt online for the book intrigued me enough to decide to read and I have to say I really enjoyed it.

From the start, like page one, it made me laugh-snort. The heroine, Becca Bragg, is witnessing grown women trying to catch the eye of our hero, “Ex-NFL star” Mitch “Flash” Flashman, while he is helping his brother’s high school football team. Let’s say that she has an opinion of how these women are acting and has a compadre in snark crime, her cousin Nora. Annnnnnnnddddddd she is not at all impressed by Mitch, thinking he’s just another famous ex-jock and jerk. Since I was sorta expecting that as well, I am happy to say we were both wrong.

I loved Mitch’s character. He was really a lost soul, at this point in his life, but he is loyal and real. His relationship with his brother, Deacon? Hilarious. I’d call him an all-around good guy. He takes it upon himself – well, maybe with a bit of pushing by his brother – to try to mentor one of the boys on the team, Simon…who also happens to be Becca’s son. I really liked how Mitch didn’t talk down to Simon, or use him to get close to his “prickly” mom, and thoroughly enjoyed watching these three work out life, to really become a…team. And yes, Becca is prickly! She’s been alone a long time but still grieves for her deceased husband, well, just a bit. Loved how the author wrote her character as complicated and conflicted…and how Mitch’s character helped to break thru her barriers. And let’s not forget those grown women/mean girls from that first scene…

Simon is a character – he even gets to play matchmaker for his mom. And if she ever finds out, she is gonna smack him! Fun story, I really liked it, and it made my evening.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I got into this book, but it was actually a really great read!

The first thing I noticed was that it wasn't really tied to any of the author's other universes, which I really appreciated! I also really liked the fact that this was a single mom story with an OLDER child in it! It made the story rather unique for me, despite it being a "sports" read.

Getting to the romance part of the story, my biggest problem was that Becca couldn't let go of her deceased husband, even though she was fully aware that it was way past the time to move on from his death. She wound up making Mitch jump through a lot of hoops that he may not have needed to in order to wind up with her. While I am sure it was to inject a bit of realism to the story, it wound up growing tedious at times. I did enjoy Mitch's dedication to her and his willingness to wind up with her in the end. I have to say, though, the ending scene with Becca and Neil's Memory made me cry, it was that touching!

I loved Becca's profession though! I would have loved to see more of business in the tea shop, but I did enjoy what I saw of it! Likewise, I loved Simon and Nora, and wanted to see more of those characters! I was rooting for Simon's relationship the whole time!

I have to say this was an engaging read! I hope that Nora and Duncan wind up with a story at some point!

This time around the author shares something in common with her characters. Both are finding their footing on a course that is alien to them. Marie Harte steps outside of her comfort zone with Any Given Snow Day. Mitch and Becka shoot off sparks, but are a bit tamer than some of her previous tales. On the corner of sexy and steamy, lies love and drama and there is no holding back on that end. Mitch is at a crossroads. He has money and fame, but no sense of direction. Seeking to change that, he sets about rebuilding his world, he turns to his first love and his hometown. Coaching impressionable minds and dodging tenacious women. All except one. Becka is his greatest challenge, but could end up being an everlasting reward. If he can break down the barriers to her heart. Any Given Snow Day puts it all on the line and succeeds. TOUCHDOWN INDEED!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, and heartbreak.

This is Becca and Mitch’s story. Mitch is helping out his brother by coaching football. But all the while he is also dodging the single woman who just want to be with a former NFL player. When he meets Becca one of the players mother he is smitten as she seems not to want anything to do with him. He’s trying to figure out what he really wants to do with his future, and everyone seems to want to see him settled. While he has a pull to Becca she comes with her own obstacles. Can they figure out a balance to be together? Or will one of them move on before the other gets there life together?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

This is a really nice little love story which is more a novella than a full book. Even though this wasn't meant to be a holiday book (I don't think) as it begins just before Holloween, there is so much of the story set around the Christma holiday that it certainly could be considered a Christmas time romance.
Rebecca "Becca" is a widowed single mother raising her fourteen year old son Simon and running a coffee shop in a small Oregon town. Mitch "Flash" is a recently retired NFL star having won two Super Bowls and two league MVPs before retiring at the top of his game. At 35 Mitch is at a crossroads in his life. He's too young to retire and just live a life of leisure which he could easily do with his wisely invested football earnings so he moves to Oregon to be with his older brother Deacon (also a retired NFL player) who runs a brew pub and is the local high school's head football coach while he figures things out. While helping his brother coach the team he meets Simon whom reminds him of his young self with his talent and cock sure belief that he knows better than anyone on every topic. Through Simon he of course meets Becca. Because of his fame and fortune and the fact that every single woman in town is talking about Mitch and trying to bed him Becca immediately perceives Mitch as a stereo-typical self centered egotistical womanizing ex jock. Despite this when they meet she can't help herself from feeling an immediate attraction. Mitch for his part shares that attraction. With the help of some match making by Simon, Becca's cousin Nora and Mitch's brother our two protagonists are thrown together a few times and they can't resist the chemistry they share. Becca completely caught me off guard with the daring move she makes the first time the group visits Mitch's palatial mountain home. Because despite her mistrust of Mitch and her struggles to process her feelings for her late husband which leaves her feeling like if she really let herself fall for another man she'd be betraying their love she can't resist her attraction to Mitch. Mitch is leery of women having experienced several that only wanted to be with him to use his fame and fortune to satisfy their own needs. Plus Mitch's brother has gone through an ugle divorce where his ex-wife cheated on him and took so much of his money in the divorce settlement that unlike Mitch he's forced to work at his brew pub to support himself. Despite his trust issues Mitchell is quick to acknowledge to himself and then to Becca that he's fallen in love with her. In fact even though he's determined to go slow and not reveal too much too soon Mitch from the start can't do anything but be completely honest with Becca about how he feels about her and what he want's from a relationship with her. After losing her husband so young in a shocking car accident Becca is afraid to love again and it takes her longer to come around. After a big blow up with Mitch with a little advice from her cousin and son and the help of some Christmas magic Becca is able to put her loss of her late husband in perspective and fully give herself to Mitch. Seriously if it weren't for Ms. Harte's trade mark steamy sex scenes this one could have been in the Hallmark Christmas movie rotation. But I'm a sucker for Hallmark Christmas movies so I strongly endorse this quick little read. I'm a bit surprised this is a standalone book because there certainly seemed to be a budding romance between Becca's cousin Nora and Mitch's burned and love shy brother Deacon but apparently Ms. Harte chose not to tell their story in a follow up book.

A wonderful feel-good story perfect for the holidays!

Becka Bragg could be your friend next door - single mom raising her now 14-year-old son on her own. But she's way more than that. She's a young widow trying to make ends meet while running her own business. She does have her cousin Nora who's as close as a sister (who is so full of spunk and is hilarious) to help keep her going. Becka has a busy, full life raising her son, Simon, and running her business which doesn't leave time for much else.

Mitch Flashman has left the NFL having won two Super Bowls and has followed his brother's footsteps to a small town in Oregon. His brother, Deacon, coaches the local high school football team and Mitch has stepped up to help out with the team. Simon is one of the students on the team. This is how Mitch and Becka meet.

And let me add here that Simon, Nora and Deacon make GREAT supporting characters! They really add humor and depth to the story. Simon, in particular, shows wisdom beyond his years.

The dynamics between Becka and Mitch are enjoyable to watch unfold. Unlike other women in the community, Becka is not impressed by Mitch's NFL history nor his bank account. She's very cautious in whom she chooses to date and, although it's been 7 years since her husband's death, she's not dated that much since and when she finally accepts Mitch's invitation to get together, she proceeds cautiously...at first.

Mitch finds Becka a refreshing change from so many of the women he's dated and the women in town who blatantly chase him. That's part of the attraction. She doesn't seem overly impressed by him, nor his wealth. She's also very dedicated to her son and yet can stand on her own two feet; she's not looking for a handout. Now Mitch just needs to get Becka to see him for who he really is.

The characters felt very genuine, and I admired how strong Becka was - very sure of herself even as she deals with all that she has on her plate. And when the sparks begin to fly between them, it is Becka who takes the first step. Mitch is in awe of her sexy self-assuredness in and out of the bedroom!

Mitch's character shows that even if you've literally been at the top of your game in one profession, there can be an adjustment in figuring out what you're going to do when that part of your life is over. There's some very poignant moments where Mitch and Becka have such honest discussions about their lives - Mitch, trying to decide what he should do next in his life and Becka, still struggling on some levels with the grief over losing her husband.

It is in watching both characters face these challenges that the reader is drawn into the story. Add in the great supporting characters, the sexy times for Becka and Mitch and the holiday season - it all adds up to a winning story!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

Mitch "Flash" Flashman has recently retired from the NFL and is at a loss as to what he wants to do with his life. While volunteering with his brothers high school football team he meets one very opinionated mother of a player.

Becca Bragg is a single mother to her teenage son, Simon. After the loss of her husband, she has tried to move on, but no man has ever held a candle to what she had and lost.

Becca doesn't think much of Mitch... well she thinks he's full of himself, and obnoxious, and sexy...

This was a fantastic read! I loved Becca, her dislike for Mitch when they meet was highly amusing... and she continues to not let him get away with much after that. Mitch is a little cocky, but in a totally sexy and likable way. He never really let his fame get to his head, and he is guarded about people who want him just for the surface stuff like his fame and loads of money.

Becca and Mitch have an entertaining beginning and it doesn't take long for them to realize how much they like each other. But with a teenage son, and deceased husband and a town small enough for gossip to to run rampant, will a relationship between an NFL star and a single mom be able to survive?

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Rebecca Bragg is a smart, tough lady, and she’s not interested in the gorgeous, rich celebrity who has recently moved to town, even though he’s one of her son’s coaches on the high school football team. From the rumors she’s heard, the man is an arrogant hound dog, so she does her best to keep away from him.
Mitch Flashman is an ex-NFL star and a two-time Super Bowl champ, so he has no shortage of women flocking to him, but he’s lonely and doesn’t know what to do with his life since he’s retired from playing football. He’s sick of being used for his fame and money, so he avoids the grubby women always making plays for him. The only woman he’s interested in is Becca, but she won’t give him a chance. Luckily for Becca and Mitch, they have some awesome family members who are determined to see them together and happy.
I adored Becca’s snarky fourteen-year-old son, Simon. He was so sweet and protective of his mom, but also impressionable and definitely in need of some male attention. Nora and Deacon (Becca’s cousin and Mitch’s brother respectively) were fun loving and down-to-earth, and I hope Ms. Harte will write a second book featuring them as the main couple.
Becca and Mitch had sizzling chemistry, but her insecurities and his fear of trusting a woman kept driving a wedge between them. Still, given their pasts, that was completely understandable.
I’ve read a few of Ms. Harte’s books before and I’ve always enjoyed them. This story is no different. There are few minor typos, but nothing major. Her writing is tight and flowing. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Love is wonderful, the second time around…4.5

Reminds me of that song. Marie Harte delivers a romantic story of possibilities. Can a widowed single mom open her heart a second time around for another chance at love and happiness?

For Becca Bragg, her world revolves around her teenage son and cafe. It’s been 7 years since her husband passed, but her heart is still bruised from the loss. So keeping busy helps keep the loneliness at bay. No man who has crossed her path has garnered a second look from Becca. Not until Mitch “Flash” Flashman comes into town.

Mitch is a retired NFL player whose brother, Deacon, coaches the high school team in Hope’s Turn. He’s been busy the past 12 years with football and moved to be closer to his brother. Now retired from the game, Mitch finds he’s at a crossroads in his life with very little to do. He’s enjoying helping Deacon coach the team but wonders what else he can do. At a chance to avoid most of the female attention in town, Becca is thrust together with Mitch. And boy, does the crackle and sizzle start quick when they’re together. Plenty of steamy goodness. As they learn more about each other, it’s clear emotions and feelings grow for one another. But Mitch doesn’t want to push Becca until she can find a way to fully let him in her heart.

Any Given Snow Day has characters you’ll love and the internal conflicts with issues about their relationship. It has humor and witty dialogue and a sigh-worthy ending. I voluntarily received and reviewed a copy of this book from the author.

I enjoyed Any Given Snow Day a lot. It's a fun story about two adults who aren't looking for love but it finds them anyway. Mitch "Flash" Flashmann has retired from football and moved to a small town to be closer to his brother. Becca Bragg is a single mother and business owner. The only thing the two of them have in common is the high school football team.

I like the fact that the author had the hero out of work and a little bit lost. It wasn't explored deeply but it was a nice twist on the rich football player storyline. I liked the fact that Becca hadn't fully dealt with the loss of her husband. She wasn't a basket case about it but she wasn't trying to find a dad for her son either.

I felt like there wasn't enough description of the characters so I couldn't form a complete picture of them. I'm confused by the name because there didn't seem to be a snow day.

This story read very quickly and it made me smile. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a contemporary romance that's easy to read. It does contain a little football and a bit of tea (Becca owns a tea shop).

Quotes:
Yet he, a two-time MVP , stood in the stinky locker room of a 2A high school football team in a town of maybe 30,000. How did I get here, again? loc 126

He continued, "Becca's been a real sweetheart helping me settle in." He leaned closer and said in a low voice, "But to be honest, my brother's got a crush on her cousin, so the ladies are helping me out with a 'welcome dinner,' if you get my drift." loc 649

Yes, finally a book that had me smiling throughout. Straight off the bat, I love this book. Mitch and Becca are so made for each other and their problems, concerns or hang ups were relatable. We know living in a small town with ex pro football players might be a stretch in the real world, especially if he notices someone who already has a kid and was married before. Most want arm candy, model worthy, play boy bunny statues with a penchant for fame and excitement. Becca wasn’t even thinking that she might fall in love or remembers the last time she was so attracted to someone. It happened to be the one person she thought she shouldn’t look at. Misconceptions got cleared up fast once they saw what was hidden behind the initial meet and greet. Mitch only had eyes for Becca and that remained to be true with no cheating. Simon played a huge part in making sure his Mom and Mitch hooked up. He was a miniature male Becca with his snappy and sarcastic dry wit. Never rude or disrespectful and concerned about others well being was a bonus in his book. Becca was mature and her reasons for trying to place distance between herself and Mitch showed that her first priority was her son. I was entertained and invested in all the outcomes that took place, but most importantly I was left smiling and hopeful that everyone could or might experience the joys, highs and lows of love. Well written and executed.

I always look forward to the holiday romances that become available during this time of the year. ANY GIVEN SNOW DAY by Marie Harte is a terrific addition to this popular genre. The eye catching cover immediately caught my attention. This story takes place in central Oregon, where high school football is a big entertainment draw to the 30,000 locals.

As a single mom and successful tea shop entrepreneur, widow Becca Bragg has a lot on her plate. Since losing her husband, Becca has devoted herself to her work and her teenage son, Simon. Simon may be only a freshman, but his football skills are way above average. His new football coach, former Super Bowl champion Mitch “Flash” Flashman, is a lonely man that lives in a luxurious home. Becca and Mitch share an instant attraction which evolves into much more between Halloween and Christmas.

Ms. Harte has become one of my favorite authors, and her novels are consistently sexy and exciting. This book is nicely written, and I adored the relationship Becca had with both her son and her cousin. I really liked Linda, a parent of one of the football players, because her selfishness and nastiness were so well depicted. Overall, this is a hot holiday read that can be enjoyed all year long.

A really cute yet 🔥steamy second chance 💕 romance for a small business-owning single mother and the newly-retired NFL hunk who has taken up residence in her🏠🏡 small town. Becca's world is her son and her tea shop since her high school sweetheart husband died seven years earlier. She's a bit prickly and scared of getting too close for fear of handsome transplant Mitch abandoning her for someone better. I liked the independent heroine but I really liked her teenage son Simon who wants his mom to get out there and love again. Mitch is a man of upstanding character and 🔥🔥🔥 hot as Hades.

This well-written novel has humor, steam, romance, parent-child heart to hearts and some loving matchmaking manipulation at work along with some scary football moms on the prowl. But for some obvious editing misses I can't think of anything needing improvement. A fun story with a joyful 🎄holiday climax and more than a brief nod to the deceased husband/father with a moving little twist near the end.😉

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Any Given Snow Day by Marie Harte was a very fun book to read. For a change it was about the mom of a teenager rather than some sweet young thing. There was, of course, the ex-pro football player but why not? Mitch has been helping coach Becca's son, Simon's, high school football team. Becca is not overly impressed with him: she thinks he's arrogant. Most of the other women in town disagree: married or not, they think he's hot and available. They develop a friendship based on mutual need: Simon needs help and Mitch needs to get one particularly aggressive mom off his case. Things develop. Mitch is happy; Simon is happy; Becca is scared. What is going on with her? With them?

This is a very pleasant romance. Unlike many books, there are more points of reality in this story. The characters are relatable, if not stereotypical. Everyone knows a Linda Madison, cougar on the prowl, and Simon, boy needing a father. There's the snarky sister and the brother who's been hurt. There are a million single moms out there, some looking, some, not. Good characters, good plot. A must read if
ever I saw one.

The received a free ARC of Any Given Snow Day in exchange for a fair and honest review.

If you want a feel-good holiday story with down-to-earth relatable people then this is the book for you! The laugh out loud moments are plentiful along with the constant smiles at the snarky nature of these wonderful characters. This is an endearing story that will catch your interest from the first page and keep you enthralled in the unfolding romance until the very end. The love of family and sense of obligation and duty is strong throughout the entire read and the easy banter and wit keeps the story flowing seamlessly combining family situations and struggles that let you easily connect to the characters. Becka and Mitch are great together and there are just no words for her son, Simon. He is a 14-year old wonder. The thoughts constantly running through his mind and situations he puts poor Mitch in are funny and charming. You can tell he really loves his mom and is looking out for her. For a wholesome, heartwarming story this was a touchdown. Make sure to add Any Given Snow Day to your holiday read list. You will not be disappointed.

Four and a half stars

Mitch, former NFL star, is helping his brother out with the high school team he coaches. While loads of the town's women are angling to catch his eye, Becca's not one of them. Mom of one of the players, she's convinced he's as conceited as a wealthy, hot single guy must be.

Marie Harte's Any Given Snow Day is an entertaining, charming, and sexy read about these two adults who juggle their busy lives and other relationships and expectations as they navigate attraction and dating and life in a smallish town and community. Mitch and Becca and their friends and families are well drawn and very likable. Their concerns feel real, and I appreciated that they generally dealt with the inevitable conflicts and concerns in a pretty straightforward way, without dragging out misunderstandings or hurt feelings.

I opened Any Given Snow Day on a whim, and ended up reading the entire story in one sitting--Ms. Harte kept me turning the pages! I definitely enjoyed the story and look forward to catching up with other titles from Ms Harte.

Mitch Flashman has retired from the NFL a winner and you would think he has it all. He has a gorgeous new house, investments lots of money but something is missing maybe he can find out in this small town. Becca Bragg is raising her teen age son alone after the death of her husband 7 years ago, running a tea house and enjoying watching her son play football. When she sits in the freezing cold watching Simon play she notices the new coach who was a retired football star nice looking probably full of himself. Her opinion changes when Mitch is the one who confronts Simon about his attitude. Ms.Harte has written such a lovely story about 2 people who seem contented in their life and suddenly feel the attraction that surprises them both. Can Becca move on to another after all the love she had for her late husband. Can Mitch finally find contentment in his life. Read this lovely story that takes place around the holidays and you will sigh as I did when love finds them. The other characters in the story enhance the family feel of the book. Don't miss this one its a keeper.

I got this book as an ARC for my honest opinion. Mitch Flashback has retired from the NFL. In his career he's earned 2 Super Bowl rings and MVP status. He has an allure to him that results in a target on his back: 1) From hunting housewives and 2) from teenagers high on teen testosterone. He's adrift without a rudder and just doesn't seem to know up from down. He shies away from the stalking women, well that is except for one who's definitely not the stalker type, Becca Bragg, a widow raising her son Simon and she could give a flipping care less about his professional and bedroom reputation. She's got a harsh mouth when it comes to talking with Mitch and throws as much insult to him as he throws back at her (only in self-defense though on his part). What could these two have in common? Well, it's Becca's 14 YOA son. He has a huge chip on his shoulder since losing his dad and he needs a man's guidance. In steps Mitch and so the story steams along to its much deserved HEA.

After two Super Bowl rings, MVP status, and retiring from the NFL while still on top, Mitch “Flash” Flashman’s millions should make life at the ripe old age of thirty-five a blessing. Yet he’s restless, rudderless, and can’t tell up from down. Roped into helping his brother coach a bunch of teenagers, Mitch finds himself playing defense against the many women in town wanting his attention. Except for one particular woman who doesn’t seem to like him much. Becca Bragg is mouthy, vulnerable, and sexy, and she captivates Mitch despite himself. But Mitch has no time for a sexy single mom when he’s still trying to figure out who he really is. With the playoffs, a boy’s future, and his own heart on the line, he’ll need to figure out how to pull the ultimate victory—winning Becca’s heart and keeping it. For good.

Heather's Notes
This was my first Christmas read of the season and it is really cute. I liked the characters and enjoyed the way the romance gradually grew into a relationship. I plan to read Deacon's story too.

Normally, I'm not a big romance reader, but I like sports and really enjoyed Mitch, a former pro football player who becomes the heart throb in the small town where he settles to live near his brother, also a former pro player. People in the town make all kinds of assumptions about him that aren't true, including Becca. Becca, a widow who isn't sure if she'll ever be able to fall for another man, is a strong woman who runs her own business to support her teenage son. Hart's snappy dialogue, misunderstandings, and fun twists with Becca's son and his teenage girlfriend are so much fun. I looked forward to getting to read in the evenings before turning out the light—although sometimes I stayed up too late wanting to find out what would happen next. But Mitch and Becca's story was worth getting a little less sleep. I highly recommend this book if your looking for a fun read!
