She’d vowed to never trust him again…now he was her only hope
As a single mom Hannah Leith faces challenges daily—and deals with them. But when her son gets into serious trouble she’s out of her league and turns to the man she blames for her police husband’s death, Brandon Martin.
Brandon still carries the guilt of his partner’s murder, which only grows heavier when he finds himself growing closer to Hannah and her children. But he’d promised to take care of the man’s family and that is what he will do, even if it means ignoring his own yearning for Hannah.

When a book keeps me up and I HAVE to finish it, it deserves 5 stars. This story did that. How? I was eager to find out what had Hannah's 10-year-old son so messed up; I wanted to find out how Brandon Martin, Hannah's late husband's cop partner, would uncover what was going on. I wanted to continue to revel in that delightful five-year-old ballerina's skipping through life, no matter that she didn't remember her late father. And, I wanted to find out if Hannah would really be able to stop reacting as she did to Brandon, or he to her.
In other words, this book had it all: adult angst, all for good reason, two wonderful children with their own complexities, and a setting that included grandparents, some of whom were nasty and unaware, and others who simply opened their arms and their hearts and gave hugs freely.
If you're looking for a feel-good story with lots of action and some scary elements, too, read this book.
Good read, but then Emilie's books are always good. The cover copy does a good job of describing the plot. The heroine turning from "hate" to love is done quite well. I liked it a lot.
