Being the alpha’s queen is the last thing Atlas Belham has ever wanted. Yet here she stands, blindfolded and binding herself to a life with a man she's never even met. All for the good of her people.
Harrison Xavier’s plans have never included taking a mate, ever. He’s perfectly happy to allow his cousin to assume his place as leader, especially as old feuds reignite and the Black Bear Kingdom teeters on the edge of revolution. But when he sees Atlas, his whole world shifts.
Life as a royal and in her new hometown of Havenwood Falls, where nothing is as it seems, test Atlas’s resolve, but it’s Harrison who tries her the most. It’s ultimately up to her to choose—freedom and independence for herself or peace for the kingdom.
This is paranormal romance in the Havenwood Falls series of New Adult and Adult fantasy novellas featuring a variety of supernatural creatures. The series is a collaborative effort by multiple authors. Each book is generally a stand-alone, so you can read them in any order, although some authors will be writing sequels to their own stories. Please be aware when you choose your next read. We do recommend that you read Forget You Not first as an introduction to the town and its eccentricities.
Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.
A really sweet bear shifter story in the Havenwood Falls series. This quick read is well written, complete and very enjoyable, with great characters and a storyline that contains themes of romance, oppression, deceit, tyranny and arranged marriage. A tale of unexpected love and finding the acumen to do what needs to be done.
Another in the Havenwood Falls. These books are fairly quick reads but they've all been fairly good so far. A lot is actually packed into each one.
Harrison is the Prince of the black bears. Atlas is a cinnamon bear. She is given in marriage to Harrison to try to bring some peace between the two factions. Can these two find their way to each other while bringing peace?
Alphas Queen by lila felix. Atlas has an arranged marriage to harrison. She is a shifter like he is but she is not like him. She has 90 days to decide if she will stay with him. Will she stay? A fantastic read with great characters. Loved how Atlas and Harrison were together. Didn't expect that. I love this series. Highly recommended. 5*. Red coat pr.
Enter the Paranormal world of Havenwood Falls a town shrouded in secrets and mystery!
Alpha's Queen sucks U in from the first page and doesn't let U go until the last, Leaving U begging for more! It has everything I love in one of Lila Felix's Bear Shifter books a Sassy kick ass heroine, a Tall dark N brooding hero with a devilish sence of humor and true love against all odds,This story really keeps U on the edge of UR seat!
The chemistry between Atlas N Harrison is electric sweet N sexy I loved every minute with them!!!
5 Stars All The Way I will be a Felix Fangirl Forever!!!
I received this free eARC novel from Red Coat Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
Atlas is not happy that she is in an arranged mate with the black bear prince of Havenwood, but she is willing to sacrifice 90 days of her life to guarantee that her people of the cinnamon bears will have a better life. What Atlas wasn't expecting was to be so attracted to Harrison. From the moment that her blindfold was taken off, she was stunned and hooked.
Harrison so does not want to be the Alpha of his people. He has it all planned out that after the 90 days, him and his mate will part ways, and he can live a normal life while his cousin takes control of the clan. Then he sees Atlas and his world was tilted. Not only is she a looker, but she is also kind, strong, passionate, and really makes his bear happy.
The more Atlas and Harrison are around each other, the harder it is to avoid the attraction between one another. But forces are out there to try to separate them, because not everyone is happy with the things that are happening in the bear community. Atlas and Harrison are going to have to figure out what it is they are wanting, and they they are going to fight like hell to stop the forces against them before it's too late.
This was great! I love shifter stories, and I haven't read one about bear shifters, so I was really excited about this one! And I wasn't disappointed! Atlas is a badass and she is so brave to go through this terrifying event of an arranged mating for her people. And Harrison is so naive when it comes to his life, so I'm glad that Atlas was there to open his eyes and make him take a step in the right direction to fix the problems in his clan.
The attraction between Atlas and Harrison was just exploding off of the pages. I can't believe they lasted apart for as long as they did, because I would have caved in a lot faster than they did, haha!
This was a great novel and I am so glad that I was able to get a chance to read this! I'm going to have to look into this series, and this author's other novels. I think a lot of readers are really going to love this book!
I received this ARC from Red Coat Publishing and the author in exchange for an honest review. I needed a few days to think about this story. It left me divided in my opinion and confused as to how I should rate and review it. At the beginning, the main characters held great promise to be well developed and complex, with spunk and their own little quirks, but somewhere towards the middle of the story they lost their way. The entire story was mainly focused around the two central characters with the stock bad guy, the stock bad-guy-in-training and a whiff of female competition for the female lead. The plot began showing great potential, with intrigue and complications; I was excited to see how the characters would manage the challenge. It was all resolved in the most simple and lackluster way possible, deflating any sense of anticipation and excitement. The same can be said about the connection between the main characters. The author took half the story to set up electrifying sexual tension, only to have it unfold in the imagination of the reader as the scene closed and the chapter ended. Anticipation that doesn’t lead to any type of satisfaction can be very frustrating. The writing was good for the most part, but again at around the midpoint of the story it began to slack. The narration began to repeat itself and certain points were brought up again and again, taking the joy out of finishing the story. Overall, I felt this story was divided into two parts; the first was interesting, fun, filled with anticipation and the promise of a satisfying conclusion; and the second part that rushed to finish within the constraints of the limited space provided. I am still torn. I have enjoyed Havenwood Falls Series, including the first part of this story. It was the conclusion that just didn’t do it for me.
So umm this wasn't my favorite of Havenwood Falls though I did enjoy it I just felt that the way the ending came about was rushed. So we are introduced to Atlas who is a cinnamon bear but her kind of bear is on the bottom of the totem pole so to speak. Harrison is a black bear and is soon to be alpha to his father's kingdom. They both are binding to each other though they have never met. The whole plan is for the two to come together and bring the bear species together. Now you just know that the two have to fall in love because what else could possibly happen? We see how the two slowly start to fall for each other and Harrison learns of the kingdom's secret it isn't pretty. The spark of romance that hit the both of them was perfect. I really liked the idea of both of them having a tattoo. When Harrison finds out the terrible truth about what is going on with his father and the kingdom from that point on the story just seemed to be rushed and thrown together. That is why I dropped a rating. Another thing that bothered me is where in the world does a castle fit into Havenwood? Why has no one ever really seen this castle before? Yes, I do know that there are magical wards but there are other supernaturals that live in Havenwood that I am surprised that no one has brought it up.
Alpha's Queen by Lila Felix is the latest Novella addition to the Havenwood Falls Collection. I have to admit that I wasn't sure about several authors writing with a cohesive vision of a complex and diverse setting like this series, but I'm blown away with each installment. Each novella is stand alone and builds one every other story and characters. With each novella, I can't wait to read more and find out more of the hidden secrets that are so a part of this world. This Novella tackles the rivalry and racism that exists between Black Bear Shifters, the Entitled, and the Cinnamon Bear Shifters, the Lessers or servants. When The Black Bear Monarchy finds that they are in danger of being overthrown, what's a king to do but marry his son off to try and bridge the two factions??? Well there's a little more to the story, but Harrison finds himself married and Mated to the outspoken, beautiful, Atlas. it was only supposed be for 90 days and help to bring peace to their people, but there's a lot more to the story than our mates know. Oh and they can't seem to keep it from getting personal. While they fall for each other hard truths are exposed and secrets revealed. This is an awesome addition to the collection and I really hope that there is a sequel!!!!
This is the 10th Book I have read of the Havenwood Falls series and Havenwood Falls High and I don't think I need to say it again that these books are AWESOME (Ooppss I said it again). The Havenwood Falls series is derived by different authors and so far I have enjoyed all of them. They are about a town in Colorado call Havenwood Falls and there all types of supernatural beings live there in peace with human's But the human's don't know about the supernatural beings. In this particular book it is about Atlas and Harrison. Altas is a Cinnamon bear and she has been mated to Harrison a Black bear who is up for the role of Alpha. This is an arranged mating by Harrison's father who by the way is a Dic*head ( sorry for the language but I couldn't find another suitable word) and paid to have Altas's loans and her parents mortgage to marry Harrison and then leave him after ninety days. But before the ninety days has even begun at least a week after their mating she found herself falling in love for real. By the end of the book you can just say that they consummated their mating for real. I gave this book a five star rating because it was awesome. Lila Felix you are an amazing author and I loved the book. This book is a MUST READ!!!!
I really enjoyed the way the bear clan drama played out in Alpha's Queen. With both sides of an arranged marriage not that interested in getting married, a clan on the brink of civil war, and a power struggle within the Alpha's family, there is a lot going on. Lila Felix does a great job of tying it all together and using the political tension to show the hidden and overlooked strengths in Harrison and Atlas..
Harrison isn't all that interested in becoming the Alpha of the Black Bears. He was a fun character once I got past his disinterest in all things clan related and his desire to forgo his responsibilities. I kind of get why he felt that way once I saw more of his family.
Atlas was a bit of a sacrificial lamb. A member of the lower castes that were threatening revolution because of poor treatment by the royals, she was supposed to mend fences with a marriage. But we all know that doesn't usually work out. At first she is torn between duty and following her heart. But meeting Harrison quickly changes her mind, and she finds herself neck-deep in the twisted politics and family drama that come along with him.
There weren't any really surprising twists or turns in this one. It was just a well-told story of two fated mates saving their clan while finding love.
As part of Kristie Cooks Review Crew I was delighted to be able to read an advance copy of Alphas Queen on pre-release.
If you could save your entire species by marrying someone you’ve never seen or spoken to before, would you?
Atlas Belham does just that. Married to a total stranger and thrust into royalty, Atlas needs to find her feet & help her species FAST. She just hadn’t anticipated meeting her life’s mate at the same time.
Lila Felix introduced us to another piece of Havenwood Falls life, and although most of the story takes place away from the town itself, it blends into the series brilliantly. I do hope we hear more from Atlas and Harrison as the Havenwood Falls series progresses.
I have read all the Havenwood Falls books so far and I have to say, this has been my favourite. I have only ever been drawn by wolf shifters in the past, but these bears are hard to ignore. I instantly loved the two main characters and was rooting for them from the beginning. This story pulled me in from the beginning and I love how it opens up a side of Havenwood Falls that we haven't seen before. I hope we get to see more of it in the future. This was my first Lila Felix book but I will definitely be checking out her other work. I received this novella as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It is, frankly, astonishing how much the author has managed to fit within the pages of this novella. I mean, it helps if you have read some of the previous Havenwood Falls books so that you understand the background of the Havenwood world. But this would be a hugely enjoyable read even without that.
Ms Felix has skillfully woven a story with good character interaction and development, a real sense of threat and a love story that feels both organic in development, and with a depth of connection between the lead characters.
A lovely addition to the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I love these stories and this little supernatural town. This story is about Atlas and Harrison who are in an arranged marriage set by the Alpha of the Black Bears. Harrison is the first-born son of the Alpha and is forced to marry in order to become the next Alpha of the clan. Atlas is a Cinnamon bear, and in the Kingdom of Havenwood Falls, a lessor bear. She and Harrison forge an unbreakable bond and together are able to set the wrongs done to the Cinnamon bears and get their happily ever after. This story was very entertaining and fast read. Can’t wait for the next authors set of characters.
~~I took this book willingly. I chose to write a review on my own accord~~
When I first started reading this book, I was immediately captivated by the story. I loved every minute of what I was reading. The flow, while rather smooth, did have some choppiness to it. There were some issues that I didn’t like, for example, these were shifters so I expected them to shift regularly. However, unless I missed it, they only shifted once. We just heard about shifting. Some of the story felt rushed, while other parts seem to flow perfectly.
This was the first book I have read, it won’t be the last. I want to read more of her work. She writes differently that others that I have read.
A fun read with likeable characters. This novella would have benefitted from being a longer book. There was so much crammed into it that it often felt rushed. There wasn't enough time to develop a sense of connecting with the characters or for the author to give them more depth. The potential is there for a 4 or 5 star novel. The writing is good and the author hooked me in with seemingly little effort which is either a sign of true talent or a hard work in disguise. It was a good read for an afternoon doing laundry.
So, this is my first Havenwood Falls book, and I must say that I’m impressed! This book was amazing! For some reason I thought I was going to read a wolf shifter book, but no, it was even better...BEAR SHIFTER!!! Atlas and Harrison are to incredibly characters. They both had different ideas of what their futures would be like, but when they are forced into a marriage, they are quite surprised with the outcome. All I really have to say, before I end up spoiling this book for y’all, is that it is a quick and wonderful read! You will enjoy this!!!
Lila Felix delivers a sweet bear shifter love story set in Havenwood Falls. There is magic, suspense, conflict, and love. Atlas and Harrison's story is one about shining a light on our commonalities and seeing our differences in a positive manner. Atlas and Harrison come from different worlds, but their love is fast and fierce. Their bond strengthens them and together they are determined to unite their "people." Beautifully written. The only thing I would ask for is more of these characters and their world.
I love Atlas and. Harrison I love how they didn’t have a clue who they was mateing with and that when they was together the bond they had was growing fast Harrises father Alpha King was not a good person. They have to step up and change things to make it right with there people and the bears I was Laughing through the whole story incredible characters this is a must read
My favorite line or quote...
I looked like I had a fishing net stretched over my me I hadn’t heard in years
. “Of course. I have a magic phone and everything. What’s your poison?” LoL
*I was given an ARC for my honest opinion * It was a make or break kinda of day when I sat down with this novella and a cup of coffee. I knew of Lila Felix, have one or two of her books. Alas, I have never read any of Lila's work. Alpha’s Queen is by far the best Havenwood Falls Book I have read to date. I was drawn in by the first five words. I could not put my Kindle down. Now I am suffering from one hell of a book hangover. I highly recommend this as your next Havenwood Falls Book to read next.
I read this as part of Havenwood Falls Volume 2. I really enjoyed this story. I like that it was realistic in not rushing into instant love between the characters even though they could feel the pull of their shifter bond. I wish it would have been longer, I feel the author could have done a lot more with this story if it had been a novel instead of a novella, but I think she did a great job with this story and its conclusion as a novella. These characters certainly have a lot of future potential, and I hope she chooses to write more about them in the future!
Alpha’s Queen is the sixth book in the Havenwood Falls series. This series is a collaboration of stories written by many wonderful authors. Each book in this series is a standalone title and can be read in any order. In this novella we meet Atlas Belham and Harrison Xavier and I just absolutely fell in love with this couple. This was just such an easy story to get lost in and I just couldn’t put it down until I turned the last page. I just have had the time of my life reading these great stories. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this series.
This series continues to surprise me with the new and interesting supernatural creatures that appear in a Havenwood Falls. This story was interesting and I believe it targeted some tough social topics that we deal with in the real world (& it just isn’t talked about all that much). I love Atlas and Harrison and their slow brewing romance. Atlas takes Harrison outside of his comfort zone and really makes him open his eyes to the world around him.
I know there is still a lot to learn about Havenwood Falls, but WOW. Just WOW! I never expected...that.
Mating someone you never laid eyes on is stressful and nerve-wracking alone. Mating the future alpha, internal melt down. Atlas handles it with her head held high. She has a very good purpose for mating a total stranger. To save her kind.
The Havenwood Falls series is an amazing collaboration. Bravo to all the authors.
I absolutely loved this story between Atlas and Harrison, the story kept me captivated from page one. It was such a fun read filled with suspense, anger, betrayal and love, It covers It all.. How can a Cinnamon Bear and a Black Bear possibly get along, never mind be mated, read this story and find out, this story Fits right into the Havenwood Falls series where you never know what to expect in this small town. Definately one of my favorite stories in the series.
I will admit this was a beautifully written story and I cannot find any faults in it. Other than I want more of their life in future stories. I could feel the passion they felt for their people and each other. You could feel their relationship grow with every turn of the page.
You will not be disappointed when you read this story. Once again welcome to Havenwood Falls..when can I move in?
I have read several of this author's books and found. her stories quite fascinating. This one proves to be no different. A shifter tale of love, loss, and anticipation. Although it is a quick read, the story is complete in every way. All loose ends tied up. I would love to see more of this story from the writer. Highly recommended.
This is the first book I've read by Lila Felix and it will not be my last. This was a quick read since it is a novella but it was well done. This is an excellent shifter romance that even has drama. I immediately fell for the heroine and the struggle that her people go through. I wish it was longer, only because I really want to know more.
What a fantastic book. I quickly got pulled into the book from the very start. The anticipation of the story kept me turning the page. Atlas and Harrison are pulled into a world they don't care for but accept their fate. Their choices can bring a major change to the shifter world. The relationship between the two made this book soar and made this an excellent read.
This is a great addition to the Havenwood Falls library. Although the storyline did not take place within the city itself for the most part, it did a wonderful job expanding that universe. The bear clan - I want to read more about this family. I hope this storyline is continued in future installments. Just a wonderful read.
