With so many books under Bella’s belt, I hope that she never ends the story. In book 53, Caspian is the masked man helping (we knew this from book 52 so this is not a spoiler), Fiona is missing in the Valley of Screams. These Daemons are creeping me out but wait till you get a hold of Bella’s description of them, that’s all I have to say about that without giving a spoiler. Just when you think you have the story figured out, Bella takes you by surprise and takes you on a twist and turn of a journey. It can be mind-blowing sometimes. You find yourself saying sometimes, “Holy cow I didn’t see that coming!” As I was reading this book, I was sitting and thinking, how can Bella come up with this stuff? What goes on in her head? She has the best stories in there. LOL Bella still has this storyline full of excitement. You literally can’t wait for the next book to be released. The main characters are still in the picture, but you fall in love with all the new ones that are introduced, Fiona is one of them. Speaking of one of the new characters, Harper is a true chip off the old block. Being the daughter of Tejus and Hazel she sure does have the fire and determination of her parents. What a great character. As for her male interest, Caspian. He can really be a jerk but boy he can also be hot at the same time. LOL, His cockiness on page 23 made me laugh out loud. The bantering between the two is hysterical and the heat between them is really hot so be careful. The ending will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Your jaw will drop, and you just can’t believe what you are reading. Bella always has a glued to these books. She knows what we want, and she always delivers. I also love how Bella has every chapter with the Characters name that is speaking at the top of the page, with a label of who they belong to. There are so many characters and it’s hard to remember who their parents are. I know some reviewers say that the books are a quick read, but trust me. Don’t rush through it, take your time and find yourself almost melting right into the story and feel like your right there with them. Bella Forrest, if by chance you read this review, just know that you are an amazing writer and I hope that story in your mind will always come out on paper. <3
Just when you think it can't get any better Bells goes and blows your mind again! The new creatures and the new kids as I call them quickly engulfed me and took over my life, and if you love tension this book is seriously perfect for you! I never thought she'd be able to top the adventure with Draven and Serena who quickly became my favorite people ever but slowly but surely Harper, Caia, Avril, and Fiona and Zane and Caspian have became some of my favorites too! I feel like I'm an addict wanting for my next fix waiting for the next book! Bella has out done herself this time I always say this is my new favorite but this seriously is!!!!! Happy reading ;)
This book is full of fire! We meet the daemons and I hope Zane seeks Fiona out again, I like those two for some reason better than her with Vincent. The Sienna mystery is solved. Along with the smoke, love is in the air and (spoiler alert) Jax and Hansa finally k!$$ (about freaking time). Does Caia really have to wait 3 years to find out if Blaze is the one? And will Heron and Avril have that serious talk soon? Those daemons are a huge question...and I feel like maybe Caspian is half daemon and Mara but keeps the daemon side to himself, he's a mystery but I can tell he has a thing for Harper. What is blocking the swamp witch spells??? Not too much between Scarlett and Patrick but they have a moment. So many questions I need the next book!!!
I love Bella Forrest and have read everything she has written but I have been having a hard time getting into this season for some reason. I guess its been the past two seasons where every single person has to be matched romantically with someone else. I miss the days of Sophia and Derek I think. Also, if I read someone waits with 'bated breath' one more time I might scream...
With that said, I do enjoy Harper and Caspian's dynamic and am curious as to what is going on in this season. Just not as invested and anxious to see what happens as I have been in previous seasons. Despite the slow start for me personally, I will continue because those cliffhangers are a killer. :)
A much better pace to this book bs the last one. Driven by the team searching for Fiona.
I enjoyed skipping from the teams pow in tracking her and also her own pow from that deeper inside the valley of screams. However I’m still a little baffled by her kidnapper Zane who ‘couldn’t decide what to do with her’. In one moment he was feeding and saving her from other daemons, the next he was knocking her out with different coloured powders. I’m sure more on this will surface in later books in this season.
There are a lot of other relationships forming which I find both entertaining and repetitive at the same time. The constant back and forth of Hansa and Jax has taken a better turn in this book. Hansa unleashing her whole succubus nature on him. The dynamic between Harper and Caspain is still frustrating, but I enjoyed the latter part of the book when a very unexpected fire broke out on the level housing the 5 lords, Caspian for once not knowing why. I enjoy Harper’s strong willed character and the use of her swords still but I found her character starting to be written a little too strong, as if she had suddenly taken over the group without us being told. Blaze and Caia are cute but their development slow as she encourages him to see rewa in order to get intel and hide her feelings, knowing he’s not available for another 3 years at least. Heron and avril are the most unlikely pair for me and I actually find them more interesting as separate unbound characters.
Best parts of the book:
-the team fighting off daemons using Patrick’s water spells to unveil their invisibility
-the team finding Vincent’s sister, sienna in the valley, safe and well shacked up with Tobiah the daemon
-Avrils attempt to return to the shade in order to bring back reenforcments, only to see her crash and nearly burn as nerakas atmosphere supposedly stopped her from leaving. However there is slot of mystery as to why and the fire that broke out on the 5 lords level, killing rewas father was just after this event....could the two be linked?
Parts I’m on the fence about:
-Other than the need to kidnap Fiona for no particular reason I couldn’t understand why she was so blasé to the team about a daemon snacking on her soul. When the attack itself was written you could feel the pain emanating from the pages of the book. This however was lost later on when if was barely even mentioned upon her return. I’m somewhat hopeful that maybe this will play a bigger role in a plot to come.
Things I’m not so keen on:
-They mention near the end of this book that they have only been on neraka for 3 days which is impossible given all that they have done, including a day for the ball.
-the continued repetitiveness surrounding all the questions and unknowns about the planet, which each character mentions throughout the book
-Draven not listening to his instincts, get over to neraka boy!
Overall, there was a lot to like about this book including the suspense of finding out more about the ongoings of this planet. My main concern is can the rest of gasp come to the rescue and if not what are the team in neraka going to do in order to not only solve the problems of the planet but leave it too?!

This book was filled to the brim with action, bravery, stamina, and amazing physical and mental prowess. The characters are each really moving into their own complex individualists. Some were rookies, some were seasoned by rigid practices honed throughout the years. Now it's becoming quite apparent that growth is what's going to evolve them into being the best they can be. The chemistry in this book is absolutely sizzling!!! It's done in a comfortable way but it definitely makes your heart do flip flops in your chest! The next installment couldn't possibly soon enough!!!
During their journey to rescue Fiona the team comes across someone unexpected but it helps solve one mystery. But they also come across many other things, like a water fae, which once again leads to even more questions. I'm really curious to find out what/who is communicating with Draven and if that same entity is the one responsible for some of the other attacks/explosions. I am however happy to announce that Sansa finally lays into Jax and leaves him stunned which I hope helps him man up and claim her.
This is the best spinoff of this series yet! I am so drawn in. I love the characters, the mystery, the romantic developments and the fact that there is confusion of who is what. I was beginning to wonder if the author was going to stick to the mo of the main girl getting captured and falling in love with her captive but she totally changed the plot and that is fantastic! I wish I could comment on the end of this book because it pertains to the previous statement but that contains spoils.
I don’t write reviews often. I started reading this series and had no idea it was 70+ books long’ I’ve enjoyed the different episodes and creativity. But if I read the word or expression “smirk” in any form, I may scream! Smirking is definitely not sexy.
“A smirk is a smile evoking insolence, scorn, or offensive smugness, falling into the category of what Desmond Morris described as Deformed-compliment Signals.[1]”
It was SO GOOD! I seriously couldn’t believe that I was so close to the end when I looked at the ogre number today because I read it so fast. I couldn’t put it down! It was so suspenseful and action packed but also the perfect amount of romance mixed in. Another awesome book by Bella Forrest!
This book like all the others will not disappoint. Blaze, Patrick, Hansa And the other team are definitely in over their heads. What is lurking behind the shadows? Does Caspian have anything to do with it? What are the secrets the shadow holds. All the gorges get the GASP team?
Hmm, so much to still learn, so much that hasn’t happened! Off to the next one.
This book has me on edge. Wonder who draven talking to
I choose this high rating because, wanted to more about the story I couldn't stop turning the page. There's nothing to dislike. And yes I highly recommend this book

A Shade of Vampire 53:A Hunt of Fiends by Bella Forrest
This book was fantastic it kept me reading non stop from to end. All of the books Bella Forrest writes are full of excitement and adventure and danger. I can not get enough of them.
I love this series! It's one of my top faves and I never want it to end! I have no clue what's going to happen I don't know what to do with myself while I'm waiting for the next book to come out.
