Rate this book
They met when they were kids.
They were friends, lovers, and then husband and wife.
They were supposed to be together forever.
He was her Superman.
She was his happiness.

And then he went pro.
And she doubted something that was supposed to be forever.
Mistakes were made in exchange for dreams, and hearts were shattered.
Their forever crumbled right before their eyes.

He went on to play for the Washington Warriors. He ate, breathed, and slept professional hockey. All he had left after her was the ice. He was in magazines, he won a Stanley Cup, and he had a crowd of people screaming his name. He had everything. Didn’t he?

It’s hard to move on from an addiction, and she was addicted. Drunk on love too early on, she never truly moved on from her first love. She faded in and out of life, trying to ignore her need. But bad habits have a way of coming back when you least expect them too.

For years they went separate ways, until her Superman falls from the sky.

He was on a helicopter after a big win when the engine cut out. He knows he’s not making it out alive. Even with the screams of his teammates shouting in the background as they crash toward earth, all he can think of is her. He’ll never get to see her again…

Love is unforgiving dragging her back to heartache. She only wants to help him get better from the accident and move on with her life. She never planned on falling back in love with him. She never planned on falling so hard a second time.

Lovesick and broken, they crash right back into each other.

OMG! I ate this story up. I already knew from the blurb that Crash Into Us would be right up my alley and it was. Shana Vanterpool delivers a powerful, emotional and romantic story about love and getting a second chance.

Jasmeen and Gavin have known each other since they were ten and divorces at twenty two. Those twelve years are filled with a lot of firsts for both of them but most of all a love that’s indestructible. A love that’s all consuming.

Now at twenty six they’ve been without contact for four years since their painful breakup and divorce. A helicopter crash changes all that when Gavin is the only survivor and only want Jasmeen by his side for his recovery.
Their road back to one another was intense and filled with so many emotions. Just that scene in the hospital when Jasmeen and Gavin see each other for the first time in four years. My heart ached and broke. My eyes teared up. So powerful.
I loved the flashbacks to their youth cause that really showed why they’re so addicted to one another. Why they’re so tethered. Also my connection to them only intensified. Their chemistry is off the charts hot. Crazy as hell hot!
Their love is incredible. Their friendship is beautiful. Gavin was going through so much pain and suffering from nightmares but throughout it all Jasmeen was a rock. His rock. It was so difficult to read at times because the author captured it to perfection. Gavin’s guilt of being the only survivor and him choosing between Jasmeen or hockey.

Crash Into Us is about second chances. Jasmeen and Gavin are without a doubt soulmates. With that comes hurt, disappointment but most importantly love. Their love can’t be described. It has to be experienced.

This is only my second book that I’ve read from Shana Vanterpool. The first being Mad Love which brought my attention to the author. Now I can honestly say that I’m going full stalker mode. Her writing is flawless and her storytelling resonates with me. Her prose evoke so much emotion within me. Vanterpool has cemented herself as on author I need in my life.
I’m so happy Crash Into Us crashed into my life. Definitely going on my favorite list this year.

This story has a really horrific start...Gavin and a few of his teammates are in a helicopter crash where everyone dies except for Gavin. He's pretty messed up though and the only person he wants is his ex-wife, Jasmeen, who he hasn't seen in four years.

Gavin and Jasmeen met when they were ten years old and become inseparable. As they get older, they become boyfriend/girlfriend and then get married. Unfortunately, they get divorced when they are twenty-two.

Jasmeen has a hard time escaping Gavin because he's a popular hockey star and his face is literally everywhere. But her life needs to go on and she does her best. And just when she thinks she has her life in control, she gets the phone call about Gavin. Of course, she goes but she's not prepared for what he evokes in her.

description

And what he asks of her...he wants her to help take care of him until he can get back on his feet. It will be a while because he has severe injuries and terrible nightmares. She does her best and luckily, she's able to help him.

They both can't stay away from each other. I was a little surprised they went four years apart with the intensity they share. Also, without their safety net of having distance between them, they soon take things to the next level.

I rather enjoyed watching them start over and trying to work things out. Some of the things were really sweet but the scenes with her parents were really hard.

I liked how things worked out and the epilogue was interesting. It fast forwarded about ten years so we get to see how life has worked out for them a bit. The scene with their youngest child and his new "friend" was really sweet. Maybe we will get their story one day?

FOR GOODREADS

Ah... I had such high hopes. mid-way in chapter one, I was ecstatic... I felt it in my bones..that this one was going to be good. First sign? The colour purple...why? Cause I love that colour.. second? the flower... purple asher. Then it got me thinking.. first purple succulents (from the book bad habit...which I loved!) and now purple asher.. got to be a sign for good things to come right? NOT. So much for me jumping to conclusion that this book was going to be one of those haunting nostalgia kind of book.
one of my favourite bookstagram friend recommended this book..she raved about it actually so obviously I got super excited about reading it too.. sadly this wasn't it for me. I found Jass to be annoying as hell... come out of your own self pity, woman! And geez listen to the dude and if you still want to... you can crawl back and drown yourself into your wine-fest *eye roll*
Gavin.. oh Gavin! You disappointed me the most.. I don't even know where to begin so I won't start.
But I have to admit, he had his moments which literally made say "Well Hello Mr. " hahaha.

Crash into Us wasn't the best book out there.. it was one of those 'read it once and forget about it' type of book BUT like always, I guess I'm on the wrong side of it since almost everyone has loved it so far... but hey..to each their own...Maybe you'll love it. Happy Reading!

I love a second chance story, and if they were married then divorced and get back together again .... pure catnip. This one was good, but Jasmeen's constant pity party got a bit old at times whereas Gavin, the one who was entitled to a pity party ,was the one fighting for them. He was awesome, loved him!

I liked that neither of them were celibate when they were divorced. Thank god!! I am so freaking sick of these angelic creatures that keep themselves celibate for years and years. Totally ridiculous! Glad the author kept this one real.

I felt the ending was a bit rushed with everything thrown together too quickly and neatly, so less of the pity party and more about that and also why her parents were such whack jobs would've been great.

One star because there were too many unanswered questions.
The hero and the heroine are high school sweethearts, they marry very young and he become a star of NHL. The heroine remains the same shy and unassuming girl while he wants to enjoy his success. There are rumors that he cheated and the heroine divorces him. Four years later he has a severe accident where he’s injured. He asks for her and she of course goes running.
They reconcile during his recovery.
What I didn’t like.
- double standard. They both are with op, but while he has tons of women and enjoys them, she only has three sad hookups. I hate this shit. It’s time it ended. It should be illegal that a 22 yo woman is unable to move on after one asshole cheated on her. Please, I just can’t.
- many unanswered questions. Who asked for divorce? The heroine tells him he left her, but he tells her she didn’t want to listen to his explanations, so who left whom? What really happened ? He tells he never cheated, but we don’t know what happened and with whom. It would have been nice to know more about the fact that made them implode.
- there are hints that they were unhappy because she was against him playing pro because she was jealous, and he wanted to play, become rich and famous and enjoy the life in the fast lane. Where is the truth?
- she says she left him so he could go pro , and he also says she left him to allow him to become a hockey player but what does it mean? Weren’t they already married? Couldn’t he go pro and stay married to her? Why was she against him playing hockey since he admits hockey was his passion since forever? Not clearly explained.
- he says he wrote her a letter not long before his accident, but what did he write in that letter, and why didn’t he send it? Did he want to meet her, did he want reconciliation? Again, not enough answers.
- it looks like he only came back because of the accident and that if he didn’t have it he would have gone on with his life, the money, the party, the women and probably he would have married a younger supermodel and bye bye heroine. So he didn’t want her when he had his career but now that he has no career the heroine is consolation prize.
- the heroine is a pushover, a doormat. Not five minutes after they’re home from hospital she admits she loves him, and wants him back still. I hate pushover without a backbone and a bit of self worth. She deserved to be really cheated on. If you don’t value yourself you can’t expect other people to value you.
- it’s not said how the heroine was living, but it looks like she had a job and a nice house, even if the hero makes fun of her and her job. I hated it. And I hated that while he was rich she still had to work.
- what I understand is that when the hero became rich and famous the heroine was something he didn’t want anymore, so he got the first chance to dump her, since he never denied his cheating, and he apparently wanted to divorce her, have his nice life, be free, have women, party and career, while when he was maimed and without a career he came back for her.
- I wish the book had more explanation and parts about their marriage before their break up, including the supposed cheating. It was very frustrating trying to understand and in the end it was a whole lot of suppositions and holes I couldn’t fill.

"The moment I met Gavin Cobalt, my entire life came into focus. Even at ten-years-old I knew there was nothing I'd ever want more than I wanted him. The shattering of that want was the most painful thing I'd ever gone through, like watching a dream explode and being unable to catch the falling pieces."

This book had me from the get go. I literally couldn't put it down until I finished. I loved the two main characters the author created. I felt so connected and invested in them.

Such a great book that tells the tale of love lost and then found. The book was intense, seductive, and filled with an enormous amount of love that you felt through each and every page. It was very emotional and had me in tears in several places. Make sure to check this one out.

*** ARC GENEROUSLY PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR ***

This was my first book by Shana Vanterpool..and WHERE THE HELL HAVE I BEEN..????

Crash into Us was an amazing book of love, friendship and forgiveness..

This was such a sweet book. Gavin Cobalt and Jasmeen Dejones have been friends since they were 10. Both of them formed an unbreakable friendship, turned into lovers and eventually got married at a young age of around 20. Until one day, they Broke at 22.

This is a sports romance + second-chance romance... And nothing went wrong..The language was great. The story flowed amazingly well, and I devoured this book..

Pros:

- Loved the Childhood scenes and the way they fell in Love..
- Loved the other Flashback scenes
- Liked the reasoning and logic behind their divorce
- Good writing
- Plot flowed very well
- Great Romantic scenes

Cons
-

A MUST-READ...!! WILL BE JUMPING ONTO OTHER SHANA VANTERPOOL'S BOOKS..!!

- they broke up for the dumbest reasons
- why they realized how dumb the decision was, there were hot and cold to each other the rest of the time
- Said reasons also were never reconciled
- I love me so over the top angst and romantic declarations .. but there’s a thin line between heart wrenching and cringey
- There were cringey (imo)
- whenever I was starting to feel for the guy, he goes through a terrible accident, he would immediately say something douchey .. and then I would be like nvm
- Ok lastly, the last chapter was so weird .. and had really weird implications .. not a fan

Arc provided by author for honest review. Shana doll I think this is the first book I have ever read of yours that made me cry! It was emotionally deep and ate it up. It's funny of life works out sometimes. It was clear to see Gavin and Jasmeen had an unbreakable connection. But then again the only ones who can truly break it was them. I felt for Gavin with his nightmares, but I also felt for jas. Because she had to put on brave face and pull though for Gavin. This book was different from your other ones. And I loved it!!

Without a doubt there is a lot of wisdom in the words “you don’t know what you got until it’s gone” … and I think this is what it comes down to if I had to describe Crash into Us
by Shana Vanterpool.

While I have to honestly admit that I am not 100percent into the writing style of the author as I did not like/ agree with the ease with which two people that were obviously destined to be together threw away everything over something that in any other relationship should have been a big fight but not a divorce..- I still cannot help for liking the picture that was drawn around the two leads.

The essence of it being that two people that are so obviously soulmates cannot be kept apart forever except maybe not even by death. They might call id addiction I call it karma – and nobody messes with karma.

Brace yourself to find out if a broken Superman gets his second chance with the one woman that is able to silence the noises…….

arc received for any honest review

Crash Into Us is the second book I've read from author Shane Vanterpool. One thing I learned from this author... be prepared to cry unsuspecting tears! Oh my Lord....Crash Into Us was an emotional roller coaster, one that I can't wait to ride again!

Jasmeen and Gavin's relationship started young. They first met when they were children and Jasmeen offered him her sweater. Their friendship grew on from there and evolved into something more the older they got. I loved their relationship, I'm a sucker for puppy love and best friends to lover romances!

Along the way wires were crossed and hearts were broken. Now for years later Jasmeen and Gavin are thrown back together after a tragedy wrecks havoc on one of them.

My heart literally ached for these two people. All they wanted was the love that they were denied as children.

I really did love this novel, my only issue was a few scenes were extremely fast paced. Other than that though I really enjoyed this heartfelt emotional second chance romance!

Read a second time, bc I'm at home with my huge family that cook like angels and drink like devils. Home made hooch (aged with maple wood) and muscadine wine. So, I'm a bit wobbly. And with a larder, er, larger butt than when I arrived. But that's love in the South. Cookin' Good Food, It'd be an insult not to eat those delicious sausage balls, or ooh is that marzipan? I digress. Chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, smoked prime rib, smoked fish, smoked anyandallmeat, mashngravy, biscuits n chocolate gravy, biscuits and sausage gravy, biscuitsnbutternhoney, butter, butter, butter, buttermilk pancakes. I digressed again but you get the picture.

The first time I read this I was in angsty heaven having found a heart hurter, but this time all I could think was "why is that 10 year old girls thought process in the prologue akin to Gandhi's ?" So, I finished/skimmed but am not changing the rating - bc once you get past that it allows you to escape to a somewhere you like. I'm blaming the marzipan - it was distracting. Happy Holidays folks!

This is a reconciliation after divorce story.

It was well written and there was some good, honest frank dialogue but I found the initial split hard to accept as reasonable.
She won't discuss the events at all.
He is supposed to be the love of her life. I couldn't understand how after their history together she wouldn't have had an honest conversation with him to see what actually happened, then decide what to believe.
Then even if he had cheated decide if they meant that much to you if you can work through it, I am not judging whether to forgive or not but at least give it some thought.
I know there are reasons why she doesn't do this but it seemed unrealistic to me.

They are both intimate with other people during their time apart though they are 'soul mates', make of that what you will.

I have marked it as cheating as the accusation is the reason for the breakup.

OTT doormat Fmc paired with a disgusting Mmc again. Some push and pull and lots of smex and you get a HEA. 😴

This is a second chance sports romance. The writing was decent, although I was disappointed to be distracted due to basic grammar mistakes, and poor verbiage choices.

I was liking this book up until their first present day sex scene. This book heavily features choking during sex which is a big NO for me and I feel like this is something that should have a content warning in the book description. He chokes her everytime they have sex, sometimes to the point of her almost passing out, and also leaving marks on her neck.

Another thing that bothered me was how the whole issue of his alleged cheating is never resolved. He was caught naked and in bed with another woman but denies having sex with her. How the hell did he end up in that situation?

Raw, emotional fabulous story. I am all over second chance books here lately, and Crash Into Us fit what I love to read.

Jasmeen and Gavin's story was all about their love (and hate....at times) for each other. Marriage and divorce could not keep them apart; a tragedy brings them back together and they are able to find themselves as a couple and discover what tore them apart years before.

This was my first book from the author and I will be reading more from her.

Jasmeen and Gavin met when they were kids & became inseparable. As they grew up, they were each other's first everything, until they ended up married, convinced they would be together forever. However, mistakes were made when he went pro, which ended with hearts destroyed. He went on to play for the Washington Warriors, eating, breathing, & sleeping hockey. He was in magazines, won a Stanley Cup, had tons of women, with people screaming his name. But she was fading in & out of life, barely living the years they were apart. Then the day she got a call that told her he was in a helicopter wreck, and all he wanted was her. She doesn't want to go, but finally gets talked into it & decides that she will help get him better then move on with her life, but will she survive seeing him again with what's left of her heart intact? Crash into Us was a book that was a very emotional story from the serious angst in the many different forms. First of all, without going into too much detail, the way these two broke up, was crap (and you will have to read it to understand that I'm not insulting the author in any way because it's very realistic as humans are flawed) & made me very mad at Gavin. Not to mention at a secondary character as well. (And again you will have to read it to understand that one because it's not even remotely cut & dried as you are probably thinking so there!) And yes, even though he was hurt in a wreck, I'm still mad at him, because I'm not a forgiving as Jas was. He caused a lot of damage with his questionable douchey decisions. That's not to say she didn't have some culpability in it, just not as much. Anyway, that's how great a talent that Shana Vanterpool is, because I'm sitting her still stewing about this story like I've sat here & discussed this with my friend while drinking. She had me all invested cover to cover. Plus the PTSD from the wreck gave me chills it was so realistically brilliant! And I'm hoping by that ending that there's a new generation coming out for me to read (hint hint). I'm going to call it quits before word vomit ensues which ends in spoiler douchers as I'm still emotionally raw, so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
