Goddamn this series is brutal

Kiki going from a sniveling old perverted man to a killer after some hallucinations kinda came a little out of nowhere but I don't hate it

A lot is going on in this volume that it felt like everything was all over the place. The seemingly useless character has finally grown into an untamed monster, lots of blood, sweat and tears shed, more resolutions and finally, the purpose of it all have come into spotlight.

this volume slows down a bit after the action packed previous volume. i did enjoy getting to know how the old man, Kuki, came to become a killer. after getting himself out of the shackles by using a hammer to break his hand, he encounters some hallucinations through his broken phone and a hallucination of a bear, and he becomes the person who kills Hayon and eventually the person who gave him the hammer, Gamon, as well. this occurs just after Gamon remembers “everything” and is about to reveal the secrets of border road to Kunimatsu.

meanwhile, Alice and Kiina are rescued by a strange young man in the possession of kayaks who tells them that they must go to tokyo. they follow without more explanation, as he saves Kiina’s life by removing the bullet from her body. she remains in poor shape.

the others, including the sister grieving over Hayon’s death, set off in a hot air balloon. what could go wrong?

this volume has many echoes to the original borderland series, such as the breaking of the hand to escape a shackle and the truth about to be revealed by someone who gets killed just before they’re able to make out the words. it’s interesting that there is such overlap, but it’s not excessive to the point where it starts to bore me.

Continues to get better with every volume. Still not as good, in my opinion, as the first series.

Sensornya mengganggu...

It's getting intense here... karena peristiwa-peristiwa yang mereka alami, banyak di antara mereka yang mulai berubah kepribadiannya. The monsters in them are surfacing, mungkin itu yang dibutuhkan untuk survive di tempat yang entah di mana, tanpa ada orang lain selain mereka, dan keadaan Jepang yang sudah berubah sama sekali.
