Sometimes you have to play a part to realise who you really are…

Nina has always dreamed of being a star. Unfortunately her agent thinks she’s more girl-next-door than leading lady and her acting career isn't going quite as planned. Then, after a series of very public blunders and to escape a gathering storm of paparazzi, Nina is forced to flee from London.

Her plan is to lay low with a friend in Devon, in beautiful Brightside Cove. But soon Nina learns that more drama can be found in a small village than on a hectic television set.

And when a gorgeous man (and his adorable dog) catch her eye, it’s not long before London and showbiz start to lose their appeal. Will Nina choose to return to the bright lights or has she met her match in Brightside Cove?

Cathy Bramley never lets you down with her books simply brilliant from the first page it's funny and delightful and has many twists that has you hooked from the first page and also full of romance and many laughs to.
Nina has always wanted to be a big star on tv and her job isn't going well and she decides it best to run away and hide and she goes to a friend in Devon to lay low to flee the paparazzi she soon learns there is still very much drama in Devon as in London. She tries to get her friends back together after they lost their baby and not coping she helps him set up the holiday cottage business and things take a turn for the worse when she thinks he is more interested in her than his wife. She does get them back together but a man and his dog turns her and catches her eye and London soon starts to loose its appeal what does she do for the best can she be happy or not and has she met her match in Devon.
So funny in places and makes you believe you want to be their in Devon to enjoy the countryside and join in the fun great characters and story lines well worth reading.

The perfect escape from her life in London or so Nina thought when arriving in Brightside Cave. It was never going to be that simple when London life is brought into her life with her last TV role. The one that makes her recognisable. Jude has the best comment of the book about that one "I'll have to get used to the fame thing." Least he is there for keeps.

Nina has always wanted to be a film star - now she's featuring in a TV war series as the popular Nurse Elsie. Everything should be right then but, as it usually happens, it isn't! Some things just doesn't go quite to the plan and Nina is forced to run away and hide. And where is a better place to hide than in Devon? She's hoping to lay low a little and see how things develop in London but well, life has other plans for our lovely Nina and she finds herself in the middle of holiday cottages restoration and also evolved in the personal drama of her guest, Theo, whose wife has left him after a tragic event in their lives and gone on a single journey to South America.
Nina does her best to help Theo and puts all her talents to good use in Driftwood Lodge and she's doing great, but of course there are many bumps on the way, tons of misunderstandings, a man with a dog and hen parties. Moreover, she's drawn into village life and well, can it be that London isn't so interesting anymore? But her job, that she loves so much, is i n London... Soon she must face some important decisions...

This book was previously published in four - parts series and so it's divided into four parts, and each of them brings new characters, hilarious situations and more poignant moments. It's mostly about Nina and her skills to put herself into embarrassing situations, and the best thing here was probably the fact that I could never be sure what the outcome is going to look like. Her road to her happy end is bumpy and full of troubles and really, you can never be sure what kind of decision she's going to make and if life is going to play nice for her.

The setting was simply gorgeous - Brightside Cove in Devon is a place that I'd love to spend not only my holidays but probably my whole life. It sounded so idyllic! I'd probably love to hear more about the village and its residents but I also accepted that it's mostly about Theo and Kate's holiday retreat, which was an adventure already. On the other hand, we get to know a handful of the residents, and if they're all were like Eliza, Jethro and co then it was really not a boring place. Eliza was hilarious and who could thing that Mermaid school can be a thing? The scenes about the photo - shootings including mermaids were absolutely hilarious, as well as only one mermaid - oh guys, just read the book, it is so worth reading! you're going to love it, take my word for it! And I also could very well relate to Theo and his cat allergy - same here, same here.

But this book is not only shining sun and beds of roses. Cathy Bramley touches upon some heavier issues that brought tears to my eyes, and she does it with gentleness and subtlety and her special way with words. There was nothing I didn't like in this novel - I simply adored it, again, like any other Cathy Bramley's book. I don't know how this author does it but all her books deliver, they are full of wonderful, likeable and relatable characters that often make mistakes, each and every new one is set in even more gorgeous setting and the writing style goes from strength to strength. "A Match Made in Devon" was simply a fabulously lovely story with this so heavy to capture feel - good factor and it made my heart sing with joy and happiness. Highly recommended!

I must say I always love a Cathy Bramley novel, but to be honest, the first time I tried to read this I had to give up. I wasn't sure what it was but something about the storyline and main character Nina didn't sit too well with me. Maybe I couldn't connect with her for whichever reason, or maybe because I thought the storyline was a bit OTT but I just couldn't finish it. So, it's been about a year since I last tried to read this and I thought I'd try again.

Firstly, the cover is possibly one of my most favourites of Cathy Bramley's. I LOVE the scone at the bottom, the strawberries look delightful and I love the glittering sea and coast line. It screams summer and I was excited to try reading this again. This time around, it did still take me a little while to get into the storyline but this time, I pushed past it and once I read the first 70 odd pages I started to really get into it. I felt sorry for Theo and what he had been through, and I hoped that he cheered up and things started going his way.

I started liking Nina more too, once I got past the first bit. She seemed like she had her heart in the right place and I was glad when she went back to Brightside Cove to help Theo. Another character who I wasn't 100% sure on at first was Eliza. She seemed way too forward at the beginning when Nina first met her and seemed to be putting her foot in it quite a few times! But after a while I warmed to her and she was one of my favourites in the end as well as Ned and Nora. Whilst the characters weren't exactly my favourites, I loved the location and I loved the idea of the business that Nina helps Theo set up.

Overall, it was still an enjoyable read but wasn't one of my favourites by Cathy Bramley unfortunately. Not sure what it was but I don't feel that I really connected with the main character, Nina, as much as the other characters.

Something was missing from this book for me, just can't put my finger on what? I enjoyed it and thought the storyline was good and Cathy always has exceptional writing with some humour....but I found myself skim reading bits towards the end just to get it finished?! In fairness it's due back at the library tomorrow but I usually find Cathy's books 5 stars and I race through them but for enjoyment reasons!

I adored the setting and felt the romance in this took a back-burner which actually I appreciated as it was more of a sideline story to the main event which was more around Theo and Kate for me. Anyway she's still an auto-read author and this was definitely a pleasurable 3.5 star read overall!

A Match Made In Devon by Cathy Bramley is a really delightful contemporary romance that will have the reader enchanted from the start.
Once again Cathy Bramley has produced a really fun light hearted read but with some serious under lying themes. There were times when I literally laughed out loud. And much of the time I read with a smile on my face. "I looked like the love child of Donald Trump and a satsuma."
The novel highlights the importance of family and good friends. Both stick together and help to overcome when circumstances threaten to overwhelm.
There is the awful topic of infant mortality. The grief that follows, separates rather than unites as parents try to come to terms with their loss. (This is not a spoiler as it has happened before the book starts.)
There are wonderfully descriptive passages that bring the Devon countryside to life. The bracing sea air contrasts with the stifling atmosphere of London.
Community matters. Heritage matters. Both need to be protected.
People are important. They need to be true to themselves and loved for just who they are.
The Devon countryside heals people. It is balm to the wounded soul. It is freeing as people leave their inhibitions behind - quite literally which had me laughing out loud!
I adore Cathy Bramley's books. They are fun, feel good reads that warm your heart and leave you smiling. Just perfect for any time of year.
More, more please Cathy Bramley.
I received this book for free from Net Galley. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Wow Cathy Bramley has done it again, this is simply superb, I loved every moment of it. Originally published in four parts, I have read the combined version, but can safely say that each of these parts had distinct story elements and by the last one a significant amount of things happening in it.

In terms of sheer light heartedness and fun Part 2: The Hen Party was my favourite section of the book, and the whole hen party really entertained me. In terms of sheer wow and how on earth did that all fit into one section of a book then part four: The Leading Lady was a favourite as I was so impressed by the writings and plots in this section.

As an overall book it works incredibly well and kept me hooked and interested at all times. I was never really sure what Nina would end up deciding about her life and career and I was thoroughly enjoying finding out alongside her.

I fell in love with the location of Brightside Cove in Devon, which sounded like it really is the perfect retreat from the thrust of London living. Getting to know all the various people in the cove was enjoyable and watch out for Eliza and her Mermaid school, Mabel the loveable dog, Jethro the tourist hating shop keeper amongst others.

The reason Nina disappeared to Devon in the first place is due to a hilarious incident that happened to go viral and potentially threaten her career. The whole of the first quarter of the book is dealing with the aftermath of that and it was really enjoyable seeing how it would turn out.

There are some truly memorable scenes including the the body painters, any scene involving the mermaids, and there is one rather emotional skype call that was rather eye opening and informative, and put into place a lot of answers to various questions about Nina and her brother Archie.

A truly fabulous story that was a joy to read, and if you want to know who is the Match Made in Devon then you really need to read it for yourself!

Thank you to Netgalley and Transworld Digital for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I always adore reading a Cathy Bradley book. They are always set to put a smile on my face and leave me feeling good. This book is absolutely no exception. But be warned. You will want your on supply of scones and cakes to eat as you read along to this feel good book.

Nina is the star of this book. Who ever since she was a child has longed to be a famous actress. Nina is staring in a tv programme abut her character is being killed off and she has been told that she has another part in a historical drama set up for when she finishes. Except things don’t go quite to plan. On the last day in her currant acting job. She finds out that she hasn’t got the part after all and had found out that it has gone to another woman. Another actress who is newly under her manager has landed the part. Furious Nina marches into the building where her manager is having a meeting with his new client. Nina marches in demanding to know what has gone on. Nina gets so angry that she ends up upending a champagne bucket and ice cubes all over her competition. All while being filmed by a magazine company interview. Nina is suddenly dropped by her manager and her acting career is effectively over as she is in the front page of all the papers and all over the news. But not for any of the right reasons.

Mortified and needing to lie low Nina is forced to flee To Devon and the beautiful bright side cove. Soon Nina is thrown into village life with all its glorious characters, scandalised secrets and gorgeous men. Soon Nina is faced with the decision. To go back to her acting roots or to create a new life in Devon.

This is such a fun book. I absolutely loved the setting and the fantastic characters. This book had me smiling all the way through and I absolutely loved reading it. This is a little hug in book form and if you are a chick lit or Ramance then this book is for you. I loved it.

What a sumptuously idyllic read! I was so happily wrapped up in the story, and the truth be told I would love to move to Devon and set up a camp at The Driftwood Lodge right about now!
I had an immense pleasure to sample the whole story in a single package but at the moment Match Made in Devon is delivered to you in four parts:
1. The First Guests
2. The Hen Party
2. The Frenemies
4. The Leading Lady
From the beginning, I fall in love not only with the magical part of Devon but with the fresh, engaging and charming characters of Brightside Cove.
Nina is a rising film star, but a sequence of an unfortunate events sees her running to Brightside Cove where she feels happy, safe and relaxed. But Nina is a force to be reckoned with. She is not only good at her job, but she is also very determined to put the wrong to the right and make everyone happy.
Nina is certainly putting her talents to good use in Driftwood Lodge and in no time Brightside Cove is a famous spot to visit!
The parade of supporting cast is absolutely stunning and a joy to read about. I loved reading Theo and Kate's story, couldn't wait to find out the next steps in Nina's acting career and hoping that Jude will come up with a great plan to save the great community spirit of Brightside Cove.
Cathy Bramley whipped up a genuinely delectable read that makes you feel all the Devon goodness on the tip of your tongue.
I love reading Cathy's books because without fail all her stories make my reading heart happy, and I feel very inspired ( to buy a house in Devon)!
Match Made in Devon is the perfect read for summer 2018!

I think I have read everything that Cathy Bramley has written. This is another great read, following the main character Nina, as she discovers what is really important in her life. I loved the setting of Brightside Cove, the characters and the story line. I read this on holiday in Cornwall while at the beach which helped me get into the setting. Would recommend it. If you haven't read any books by Cathy Bramley then I would recommend you do so x

I have always enjoyed Cathy Bramley's books, and this one was no exception.

Nina is an actress who has done the unthinkable, and now decides to lay low in Devon. Unfortunately, due to misunderstandings galore, her life in Devon is not simple and straightforward either. However, she meets a lovely fella, Jude, and things are looking up.

There are many threads in this storyline and the author does a great job of weaving them all together. There are some unexpected revelations, this is certainly a modern version of a chick lit book, it was thoroughly interesting and enjoyable. Makes me want to visit Devon, that is for certain!

4.5 stars from me.

Nina is a young actress who has to leave London in a hurry after some embarrassing publicity, and finds herself staying in a picturesque Devon village where she gets involved with the locals and their problems. Some nice characters and mildly amusing situations. And of course a handsome man turns up (with a lovable dog). Quite a pleasant story.

Cathy Bramley has done it again. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I couldn't put it down. A real page turner from page one right up until the last page. I would love for there to be a follow on book.

I loved all the characters especially Nina the main character. All the characters each have their own story to tell and it was nice getting to know each of them in turn.

I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed with this book. I can't wait to read her next book.

A Match Made in Devon is a gorgeous novel. I fell completely in love with the story, the characters, the location and with every little detail. I love Cathy Bramley's books but this one might be my new favorite.

The story follows Nina, who is an actress in London, on her temporary move to Devon. After a few unfortunate events, she decides to escape the big city and lay low for a few weeks. She ends up in the beautiful Brightside Cove, helping a past love interest with his new business.

I liked Nina instantly and with every passing chapter, I liked her more and more. She was a box full of surprises, she was lively, had a great heart and always tried to find the funny side in everything. I loved her attitude towards life and how much she cared for what she loved.

The cast of secondary characters was also delightful. They all had their own story and their own dreams and insecurities and I loved how they all added to the main plot. I definitely had a soft-spot for mermaid-to-be Eliza. I loved her energy and her crazy ideas. She was such a breath of fresh air and she definitely created some hilarious moments.

A Match Made in Devon is a great read that has a really positive vibe around it. I was grinning non-stop during the whole book and it left me in such a good mood. But the story also had some more serious issues, which really touched my heart. Definitely another winner by Cathy Bramley!

A Match Made In Devon somehow has such a cosy, warm feel (probably because I was curled up under a blanket reading this) yet still radiates happiness and sunny days (especially as it’s set in Brightside Cove). This book was really easy to follow and felt like a comfort book for me.
I really loved the range of characters and enjoyed seeing how their lives all fit together, in fact the multiple storylines and event happening alongside each other kept the book interesting throughout as I literally couldn’t wait to find out what happened next.
The only thing I would mention is that I found the story a little long considering the events which took place but I can’t complain too much as I did enjoy reading it. It’s also worth mentioning that there were some great life tips hidden within this book, such as when Nina suggests to people they should make a list of what makes them truly happy then adjust their life to highlight those things.
Overall, I really enjoyed this happy, heartfelt book and I’d definitely pick up another book by Cathy Bramley…in fact, I have ‘A Patchwork Family’ sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read. I’d give the book 4.5 stars

I haven’t read one of Cathy’s books for a while and realised that I have missed her cracking writing.
To escape a problem in London Nina escapes to Brightside Cove which is near her Brother. Nina finds herself getting involved with helping her Brother’s friend to sort his life out, whilst realising what she wants from life too.
Lots of twists and turns and the book does touch upon some difficult subjects with sympathy and understanding.
Wonderful characters, beautiful setting and just a magnificent read as always with Cathy’s books.

I love a Cathy Bramley book! Her settings are always idyllic and make me want to travel the country.

This book has some amazing, warm and complex characters who are working through their own issues but try to come together to make things work in Brightside Cove. I loved everyone (except the Carmichaels!).

Now I want to go to Devon even more now! It sounds dreamy and fun and beautiful!

A great, warm, sweet, funny and fun book!

"A match made in Devon" certainly isn't my favourite one of Cathy Bramley's books.

While the characters were nice enough, the story was lacking that certain something that would have made it special/ lovelier. Some developments and outcomes were just too forced - that often discouraged me to pick it up and read on.
