Richard Tristano presents a labor of love toward a group that he, as a devout catholic, sees from the outside. The purpose of his work is similar to Discovering Our Roots: The Ancestry of Churches of Christ by Hughes and Allen but from an outsider's perspective. Using a copious amount of quotes, Tristano connects the "Big Four" (Thomas Campbell, Alexander Campbell, Barton W. Stone, and Walter Scott) to earlier reformers and other movements within the early US context. He finishes by showing how the seeds of the eventual split of the three groups began. An interesting read for those interested in the origins of the Restoration Movement.
