Escape to magic mountain!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💜💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😠😘🤓🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Serenity (a.k.a. Ren) - when she was young, most of her family were murdered. Ren and her mother escaped and lived on the run until she was fourteen and her mother left her under mysterious circumstances. She lived on the streets until moving in with her friend Kylie at age 20, and on her 21st birthday she found out she was a dragon shifter and started recovering memories from her past.

The Heroes: West, Nate, Aaron, Marco - West is an exceptionally grumpy wolf shifter. Nate is a big, burly bear shifter. Marco is a handsome and earnest jaguar shifter. Aaron is a hot and romantic eagle shifter. They are the alphas of their pack and are Ren’s mates.

The Story: The group is trying to find clues to Ren’s past, especially since rogue shifters are trying to kill them. They need to follow clues that Ren’s mother left and find out why her family was killed and why they want her dead as well.

I liked the fact that Ren is a kleptomaniac, it is always nice when the heroine has some character flaw that makes her unique, and this was a new one. I liked that when she would get nervous, her fingers would start to tingle and she felt the urge to steal something. She was a very likable character and had a good back story.

Much of this story was about the group following her mother’s clues to find some sort of power that her mother wanted for her. They had to travel up a mountain, camping in the forest and in caves. I liked the fact that they were getting to know each other on a journey like this. Plus, the fact that they found the answers they were looking for.

This book was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Felicity Munroe and Joe Arden. I really like both of these narrators and they do a terrific job. Though twice as many chapters were in Ren’s point of view than all of the guys put together. I guess I wish we would have heard more from each of the men. Also, I wish there were a separate male narrator for each of the guys.

Ugh i sadly didn't like this book much, i got annoyed at every single MC in the book xD especially the main girl , Ren and the wolf. Ren was so confusing sometimes and i got frustrated with her like 24/7 . I didn't feel any connection between them and i also felt like the "harem" lacked

Didn’t really like it.... it all feels forced and contrived....

I Didn’t really like it.... it all feels forced and contrived....
Ren is ok with the action and other ppl and memories and such but all the interaction w/her so called “mates” always feels soo forced and contrived.....
I know, or guess you have to always have at least one jerk I the crowd but West has been on my last nerve from the get go...
I mean either you want her or you don’t , why did he wait all this time only to a heckling d bag jerk when his mate finally shows , huh?
He knows how “fated mates” work, the pull towards your mate means they are the one for you, don’t trust it ?
Then get to know her you F’ing idiot, don’t just stand around being a jerk to her just for the heck of it ....
Damn that’s just dumb.... but REN is just as bad, she says she’s unsure and needs time and yet she’s not going out her way to spend time w/them or get to know them, it’s up to her as much as it is them ...
No that you tell it by her....
Sighs, this story just isn’t doing it for me, I don’t feel and chemistry or connections her, I mean they just seems to be going thru the motions because their supposed to it feels like to me, soo maybe West the jerk is right in some level, that doesn’t mean they can’t try any way....
He needs to either be in or out, figuratively and literally...
And all these stupid rogues ?
REN is supposedly surrounded by the “most powerful alphas there is” and yet no one knows anything. It seems...
Everyone is let around by their noses and they all like YA posers w/about as much depth a Ren in this world even though they’ve grown up in it and trained for it their whole lives...
No nothing impresses me here, no one seems to know what they are doing and none of the “mates” or their connections feel anything but contrived , I mean even after the makes the bond “complete” they still feel like boyfriends she’s only just started to date , not a mate she’s made a forever commitment w/ ...
Hell she still sleeps alone at night... shames her head ...
WTH?!?!
I don’t know why I’ve suffered thru two books but I do t want more,....
I’m not surprised at the choices in her 1st too “completed” bonds , it was soo obvious who her choices would be even the book, Marco is to flash to be 1st or 2nd and West is a d bag who doesn’t know what he wants and honestly I think if there is ever a major betrayal it will be obvious as well...
Personally I think it will be the one person who is closest to her, that isn’t a shifter...
I might be wrong but that’s my guess....
I’m just grateful it’s KU...
one of the better RH series on the market at the moment, but just not for me , too forced feels contrived...
And too YA feeling for me,all the MC’s just feel too young and stupid and immature, but still better then some and unlike some it’s not just all sex...
Story might be the best but unlike some at least there is one...
Thanks

Honestly, this series is pretty bad. It's copy and paste of every other shifter reverse harem series I've read, with predictable plot issues, unrealistic flat characters with the classic reverse harem traits (the broody one, the smart one, the charismatic one, and the really nice one), and the female lead who has never heard of shifters or lived in a normal human situation, but is suddenly a great leader. Its actually awful, but I'm going to keep reading them because they are quick reads and I need something to listen to on my drive home.

Klappentext:

I am so in love with this story! In this 2nd installment of the Dragon shifter Romance, Ren learns slowly the rules of her future leadership of all shifters, trying to find out who she can trust and who isn't trustworthy, and who are the shifters that are trying to harm her and her 4 alphas. So far she has only mated with 2 of the 4, while she is trying to figure out the motives of the other 2. She needs to be sure that the other 2 shifters are with her. Ren also needs to find out what the Fae are up too and Ren finally finds out about what happened to her mother over 7 years ago.

Very well written, very engaging story, fantasy with some spice (the right amount), small plots and twists, excellent and with a non-whiny strong female lead and her males, her alphas are not some flat, one dimensional characters, they are actual strong male leads with depth. This second installment keeps you on your toes and wanting more.

we kind of have a bunch of problematic heroes here. it just feels to me that the connection thingy of the heroine with the heroes is restrictive on them all. esp with marco, nate and westley. marco is feeling pressured, nate had fallen in love with another (although he did clarify in the end, but the fact that he still did fall in love in the first place might also mean that his feelings for the heroine is just out of the responsibility) and westley still being unfair. the bond with aaron may be flowing smoothly but i'm still not convinced, sorry.

i think the height of my interest kind of dwindled this time but i'm still going to read for the next one.

This series is a guilty pleasure. Once I start reading, it’s difficult to stop because the story flows so well and I can’t wait to see what happens next between Ren and her mates. I liked this more than the first book. Ren is becoming more confident and the chemistry is growing between her and the guys. The mystery of what happened to her mother is finally revealed.

As I've said before I'll give my full review after finishing the series but I am definitely not hating it so far. The spice is decent, the drama is good but not too much and the chemistry between the characters works well in my opinion.
Quick summary of this book;
Ren finds out what happens to her mom and gets into some disagreements with her alphas. But she is also slowly falling for all of them. And of course we got left on a cliffhanger with and attack on one of the estates.

Tropes: Shifters, Dragon, Reverse Harem, Fated Mates, Why Choose? — Dependent Series (Not Standalone)
Kinks: Sharing, Threesome

My stream of consciousness:

Welcome back for Book 2! This series is not a standalone so if you’re here I hope you read Book 1!

Let’s get back into it. They’re getting prepped for hiking a trail of clues and West is being a dick, same old same old. Kylie (the best friend) is an icon, she’s so me if this were happening to my best friend. She’s hyping her up, is curious about whether she can come steal some shifters for herself, and wants all the juicy details.

Oh my— that dream with West 😳 She’s having a rough time adapting to the fact that she has multiple mates. It’s gonna create conflict with Marco though because she’s letting Nate and Aaron be intimate with her and he’s becoming really self-conscious as to what he may be doing wrong. Oh and now we learn he’s being really pressured in seducing her, more than just what he’d want as natural.

Ok so after a hot second and a lot of traps she finally gets the power she was seeking: the flame of truth. Also gets a free deal, and gets the unpleasant history and vision of her mom dying, well… being murdered by the Fae. Ouch. Aaron tells her he’ll immediately go into action and getting a consultation with the Fae. They’re in his territory and she’s liking it also 🥹

Alright she has a moment with West, who becomes even colder after… Marco get confronted from kinda using her… Nate declares he used to love someone else (not anymore) but still gut wrenching for her… and Aaron is chilling. This is chaotic.

I love that she told Nate (and everyone) that she needs them by her side not in front of her coddling her. Like yes woman, tell them. And when she’s getting assassination attempt she’s like I got this and Nate is just like 👍 my man understood his lesson and got a reward for it… 2/4 mates done ✅

Oh slight cliffhanger at the end— Still well written and fun reads like book 1!

Best quotes:

💥 There were worse things than being expected to hook up with four completely smokin’ guys, don’t get me wrong. (chap 1)

💥 *her and the mate who “hates her”: her POV*

Suddenly I was sure that was what had happened. I could smell his arousal in the air, a waft of piney musk. But he was fighting it. I wet my lips, and his gaze twitched down to my mouth. (chap 5)

💥 He ran his hand over my thigh to squeeze my knee in a gesture that would have seemed playful if it hadn’t also sent a bolt of desire to my core. Oh, I wanted him all right, and I had no doubt he felt the same way. (chap 14)

💥 *one kin questioning her leadership, immediately defended by her mates: her POV*

“If you’d seen how Serenity brought the monarch of all the fae to her knees earlier today, I don’t think you’d be complaining. Or do you think you could make the fae tremble at the sight of you?” The person’s mouth opened and then closed again as he struggled for words. (chap 21)

Okay, first things first. I went in to this year bound and determined to read new shit. Try new authors. Each month I'm making myself try a new author.

So please note, this trope (PNR RH) is still new to me, so I'm not super picky on RHs, since this is maybe the 2nd or 3rd I have tried. What I am is a PNR junkie. I can get lost in the world building that some of the romance build up doesn't matter as much to me.

I went into this series with an open mind, knowing that it had a lot of mixed reviews, but I enjoyed every single book. There was a perfect mixture of world and relationship development. I liked all the characters, even though I wanted to throttle West and Marco from time to time.

Ren's friendship with Kylie was a little off for me in the 2nd book, but it came back in the 3rd and 4th.

There was enough in this story to keep me going through all 4 books, which says something because I'm not usually a fan of multiple books for one heroine.

I'm definitely going to dive into another one of her series and see what I think.

Book 2: Dragon’s Tears

Book 2: Dragon’s Tears ~~ 💔Emotions run hot and heavy. The second book turns the heat up while dragging your heart through the wringer. Our dragon heroine is still grappling with her powers—sometimes explosive, sometimes heartbreaking—and her bond with her four mates deepens in messy, complicated ways. There’s jealousy, tension, and even moments when you wonder if this unusual family will survive. What really got me was the way enemies kept closing in, forcing them to trust each other more than ever. ⚡ A solid sequel that proves this series is more than just steam—it’s got real emotional stakes.

But let me be upfront—this series is packed with sex, intimacy, and complicated dynamics between multiple partners. If that’s not something you enjoy reading (or listening to), this won’t be the series for you. But if you do like heat, passion, and a story that isn’t afraid to push boundaries, you’re going to be hooked just like I was.

So. Freaking. Good.

I LOVED this book. Dragon’s Tears totally pulled me in and didn’t let go. The mix of magic, danger, and romance was everything I wanted—and the spice? Chef’s kiss 🔥🔥🔥

Eva Chase really knows how to write chemistry between characters. The steamy scenes were done so well—hot, intense, and perfectly paced throughout the story. I loved the connection that Ren builds with each of the guys. It had that delicious slow-burn feel but still gave me the heat I was hoping for.

The fantasy world was fun and easy to follow, with just enough depth to make me care without overcomplicating things. Honestly, this was one of those books I didn’t want to end.

If you’re into reverse harem with badass dragon shifters, strong characters, and a healthy dose of steam, this one’s a must-read. Already diving into the next book!

It was ok.
Nothing too special.
And I hate when a fated mate had previously been in love with an other woman. Even if she’s no longer in the picture. That just doesn’t sit right with me.
What is even the point of her having a best friend? I mean she’s human and can’t even really be around her. They only communicate via text message. And her best friend is constantly and I mean constantly commenting on how her best friends men are super hot, which is just so rude and inappropriate and cringe.

I have submitted this review after listening to set box
"Dragon Shifter's Mates 1-4" audiobook. (Audible Membership)

They were to find her mother or anything pertaining to her. So their trek begins, and although others made attempts to disrupt their progress, they were able to obtain their goals.
However, as five strangers that were supposedly tied in a mate bond, it was more a time for each to become acquainted with their queen as well as their fellow alphas.

Nice short read. Kept me intrigued along the same story line as the first book. The plot definitely thickened a good bit in this one and there were of course parts that didn’t settle well with my soul. The 4 MMCs are so very different but I think that is what makes it so good. A little more world building in this “episode” but still not enough to my liking. The FMC is beginning to be a tad annoying and whiney… It ended on a cliffhanger once more, so I will be moving on to the next short read.

I got the whole quartet on audible and flew through them in a night. These are so fun, more or less of the same formula, but in every book we get more focus on 1 or 2 of the shifter mates. My favourite is Mr. Broody and sarcastic West. The rest kind of blend into one for me (all protective, sweet and caring towards Ren, but I thought the first book was better

3 out of 5 stars! Still very predictable and nothing really shocked me or made me laugh really hard. It’s not bad but again not the best. I’ve only read 2-3 other reverse harem books and so maybe I’m just not used to the format but those books all got me really excited. I’m not really interested in all the guys. Literally only one has my attention and makes me want to hear more about his past which probably won’t happen until the last book lol

After continuing with the series I decided to go back and change my rating from a 3.5 to a 3. It’s just really flat and a tad boring. It feels like instead of 4 books it could have been 1.
