Taylor wasted no time volunteering to be Jackson and Kennedy's surrogate. Sometimes it takes three to make a baby. With medical complications and financial strain, the threesome look to unorthodox methods to create their baby. How far would you go to help a friend?
Haley Rhoades’s writing is another bucket-list item coming to fruition, just like meeting Stephen Tyler and skydiving. As she continues to write romance and young adult books, she plans to complete her remaining bucket-list items, including ghost-hunting, storm-chasing, and bungee jumping. She is a Netflix-binging, Converse-wearing, avidly-reading, traveling geek. A team player, Haley thrived as her spouse’s career moved the family of four eight times to three states. One move occurred eleven days after a C-section. Now with two adult sons, Haley copes with her newly emptied nest by writing and spoiling Nala, her Pomsky. A fly on the wall might laugh as she talks aloud to her fur-baby all day long. Haley’s under five-foot, fun-size stature houses a full-size attitude. Her uber-competitiveness in all things entertains, frustrates, and challenges family and friends. Not one to shy away from a dare, she faces the consequences of a lost bet no matter the humiliation. Her fierce loyalty extends from family, to friends, to sports teams. Haley’s guilty pleasures are Lifetime and Hallmark movies. Her other loves include all things peanut butter, Star Wars, mathematics, and travel. Past day jobs vary tremendously from an elementary special-education para-professional, to a YMCA sports director, to a retail store accounting department, and finally a high school mathematics teacher. Haley resides with her husband and fur-baby in the Des Moines area. This Missouri-born girl enjoys the diversity the Midwest offers. The Deed is book two in The Surrogate Series and continues Taylor, Jackson, and Kennedy's story from book one after Taylor agrees to be Jackson and Kennedy's surrogate. There are a lot of ups and downs in this book with the three of them trying to conceive and figuring out the best way to do so. I love how the author shares the character's excitements and fears on the subject, making you feel as though you're experiencing the whole surrogacy with them. I also enjoyed how knowledgeable the author was on the subject. It's easy to connect with Taylor and Jackson the most for me, although I still want a little more on both Jackson and Kennedy's backstory. I think the author is giving the readers bits and pieces, drawing us in slowly, and I don't mind that. The one thing I wasn't super crazy about was how Taylor appears to be a little too dependent on alcohol, so it makes me wonder how easily she will be able to stop drinking. That was my only pet peeve about this book. I love the twist the author threw in, making the readers wonder just how far certain characters would go to get pregnant and what may become of that in book three. How will that effect everyone? I will definitely have to find out!
This is the second instalment of the Surrogate Series by Haley Rhoades and follows straight on from the first book, The Proposal. I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one, as I felt there was so much more detail. It was very interesting to watch how these three characters dealt with the problems of the decision they had made and what problems it may or may not bring along to threaten their friendship.
The story of Jackson, Kennedy and Taylor continues as they pursue the road to surrogacy. Taylor is still determined to be a surrogate for her best friends but the road it paves is a long and difficult one; that causes some awkward moments between the three of them. You can feel the tension in this book and that makes me very excited to read the next instalment.
This is an extremely interesting subject matter that many couples struggle with; which can either cause immense joy or devastating heartbreak. I think Haley Rhoades has covered this subject and the feelings of the characters in this story extremely well.
The Deed was a great 5 star read. This is book 2 in the Surrogate Series.
We start right where book one left off, Taylor has agreed to be Jackson and Kennedy’s surrogate.Taylor has made plans to move to Kansas City and live with them so they can experience all of the pregnancy stages with her.
As they move forward they start the process of figuring out conception of the baby. Jackson and Kennedy don’t exactly have a normal sex life so Taylor tries to spice things up with some reading material, which had me LOL.
Taylor also continues to struggle with nightmares and memories from past relationships. When she goes on a date with Mateo, they both realize that they are better off as friends. Taylor and Mateo have gotten closer. He has been a great support for her.
I had a few LOL moments, let's just say that “Lips of An Angel’ has a different meaning for me now. When Taylor starts to fantasize about Jackson she starts to feel confused and guilty. Why is she having these thoughts?
This book pulled me right in and I couldn’t put it down until I was done. I had to see what was going to happen. Will Taylor get pregnant? The secondary characters add a good element to the story. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens next.

This book in the series starts back where we left the Proposal and continues the story of Taylor, Kennedy, and Jackson. This book starts the journey of surrogates with many issues along the way, like Taylor moving her whole life to try and give her friends the ultimate gift A Family. The author also takes us on a bit of a journey into Taylor’s past and we get glimpses of other past dramas of Kennedy and Jackson past as well. I was engrossed in this book that had me turning the page to see where and what would happen next. I am excited to read the next part of this great modern story that affects so many people with infertility issues. I received an ARC copy of this book and have voluntarily written my honest review. My full review can be read at www.readingfortheloveofbooks.com
I recieved this book as a GR giveaway and was very surprised that a book of this genre could hold my interest. The relationship developement from Kennedy, Taylor and Jackson was very interesting and unique enough to keep me turning pages. I would gladly recommend this book to anyone starting a family.
This book started off slow for me but really finished strong with so much happening in the last half. My heart is so sad for the heroine of this book and am anxiously waiting to see what happens to her in the next book
Haley did a fantastic job of keeping you guessing what the next move her characters would do. A fast paced read that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I got the box set of this, so I am just going to paste my review from previous book here.
A new to me author. So many emotions tied up in this series of 3 books. It’s really hard to put into words how I feel. I will be sad to say goodbye to Jackson and Taylor, they grew on me, they were both such loveable characters, their friends were just as amazing and so supportive.
It’s was a book, not at all what I was expecting for a surrogacy romance. There was so much more to these books than that. Kennedy, Jackson and Taylor had been best friends for years. So when Kennedy and Jackson explain their want to start a family but need a surrogate, Taylor jumps right in, without being asked, without question. She wants to help her best friends start a family.
But as you will find, all is not as it seems. There are some triggers to be aware off. Use of a ruffie against their will and the subsequent actions afterwards. The ultimate betrayal.
Would highly recommend if you are looking for a very detailed and slow burn romance with twists.

The Deed was overall both an interesting and satisfying story. Disappointing however was the ending as it was open ended requiring the reading of the next book in the series. 3 stars
My thanks to goodreads and the book’s giveaway sponsors for the opportunity to obtain and read a copy of this book.
