This book getting anything above 3 stars is the reason why I don‘t trust people anymore!

I am a sucker for the friends-to-lovers-trope and I admit to liking the secret child trope but this book plainly sucked.

Not only was the heroine an annoying and selfish bitch but the story also didn‘t have any flow. It just jumped from one major event to the next.

Her hang-ups about starting a real relationship with Dean were never explained. I‘m sorry, but what the heck was her problem?! He never acted like he didn‘t love her or anything and she never had to deal with people leaving her voluntarily. And she was so freaking blasé about keeping her pregnancy a secret and even gave him the „you can‘t be mad at me, we‘re best friends!“ line. Is she freaking serious? Keeping your baby daddy in the dark about your pregnancy? Not cool! But keeping your baby daddy who also happens to be your „best friend“ who you talk to on a regular basis in the dark? That‘s just fucked up and plain selfish!
She didn‘t even apologize sincerely. „I technically never lied about being pregnant“ my ass! What was Dean supposed to do? Ask every month if you had your period yet? At least admit that you were too freaking scared to tell him for whatever stupid reason instead pushing the blame on others!

I wanted to smack this girl so badly and I am not actually a violent person.

I should have known that she was bi*** considering that her name Kat and I freaking hate cats! (She still would have been a b*** even if her name was Emily, Hannah or Anne).

Meh, it was okay, maybe less than okay because it was too short and everything was predictable. I hated both characters because they were so immature and annoying so i just skipped through the pages wanting to finish it as soon as possible and get it over with.

I wanted to explain my rating.

This wasn't the worst book ever, but I felt like everything was skimmed over - nothing developed.

I wasn't invested in any of the characters. I didn't believe any of the relationships. The storyline wasn't anything new, but could've been really interesting if things had been fleshed out and not just dropped onto the page.

I know I sound harsh, I just wanted more.

If you like sweet, sexy, swoon worthy hockey players, then Dean Crawford is the man for you. He absolutely melts the pages of Jillian Quinn’s new book, More than Friends. Loyal, fun-loving, caring, and with a bit of alpha, he is what dream men are made of.

Dean is a star college hockey player with dreams of going to the NHL. When he finds out that is hockey idol’s daughter Kat, is not only attending the same school, but is also on the women’s hockey team, he is intrigued and decides he needs to check her out in person.

After one of the women’s hockey games, Dean approaches Kat. He tries to use his patented sexy charm, but it falls flat with Kat. She has seen enough puck bunnies following around her famous father and brothers to know that she never wants to be one of them, and that is all that she will ever be to someone like Dean. However, there is something that endears him to her and she invites him to meet her and some friends later for air hockey.

This innocent invitation sets Dean and Kat on the road to becoming best friends. All throughout their college years the two are inseparable. The time they spend together not only brings them closer as friends, but intensifies feelings that neither one wants to act on out of fear of ruining what they have.

One scorching hot kiss at a party leads them on an emotional rollercoaster of ‘should we or shouldn’t we’ where the line between friends and more than friends gets blurry. The temptation to cross that line ends up being too much for them and they finally give in.

They are able to keep their friendship on an even keel until just before graduation when Kat begins to pull away from Dean. He is confused and hurt, but decides to give her some space. Unbeknownst to him she is keeping a secret.

They try to make things work with a long distance friendship/relationship, but it proves to be difficult. When Dean finally learns of Kat’s secret, from someone other than her, he is understandably upset. There had never been secrets between them before and he feels betrayed.

Will Dean’s love for Kat be enough for him to forgive her? Or will her secret destroy not only their chance at love, but the friendship that they both held so dear?

Dirty Dean Crawford has a reputation around campus. He's a star on the ice and a player off the ice, but from the first time he met Kat, he knew that she wasn't just another puck bunny.

Their connection was apparent right from the get-go, but Dean was determined to keep Kat in the friends zone. He liked spending time with her so much, that he didn't want to risk losing her by taking her to bed. It wasn't that there wasn't attraction between them. There was tons of sexual tension brewing between the best friends. It was just that their friendship meant so much more to them than a quick fling.

Through their college years, Kat and Dean straddled the line between friends and more than friends, always managing to keep their friendship in tact despite occasionally crossing the line. That is until a night a few weeks before graduation changed everything. Kat became closed off. Dean became desperate. They went their separate ways upon graduating.

They stayed in touch via text and phone calls, but it was never the same as before. This is because Kat was hiding a huge secret from Dean and kept chickening out when it came time to come clean. Everyone knows though, the longer you wait to tell the truth, the bigger the risk of someone else spilling the beans. When Dean discovers Kat's betrayal, can he ever forgive her? Will they get a chance to save their friendship or are they finally ready to admit that they've always been more than just friends?

Great start to a new series! I loved the tight knit Baldwin family, each of them with their own distinct personalities (and issues). I can't wait to read about the Baldwin brothers!

Kat and Dean's friends to lovers romance was sweet and emotional. At times it was frustrating that they wouldn't admit what was right in front of their eyes, but the wait was well worth while. Their friendship was heartfelt and realistic and when they tiptoed across into the world of lovers, they were absolutely smoking hot together. This author never fails to come through with a great, steamy sports romance filled with heart and humour.

P.S. I absolutely loved the ending and the epilogue! :)

I wasn’t supposed to fall for my best friend….

Friends to lovers is one of my most favorite type of stories. There's just something so sweet and intimate about best friends falling for each other. I can't get enough and Jillian Quinn sure did bring on the cuteness in More than Friends.

Dean Crawford? ULTIMATE book boyfriend. I love all of Jillian's male characters but Dean might have given them all a run for their money. He's sexy as sin, he's sweet as can be and he has a mischief side that is adorable. Plus he's a hockey player. I loved him and I thought he made the perfect best friend to Kat.

Kat had a tom boy attitude but she couldn't hide her natural beauty if she tried. I loved Kat, she was a no nonsense type of chick but I loved the fact that the only person who could get under her skin was her best friend. Kat was also a hockey player and her dad was a hockey legend, I really liked that aspect. It's fun watching a woman be in a mans world, if anyone could hand it though, it's defiantly Kat!

"Kissing my best friend shouldn't feel this good. But it does."

More than Friends is such a fun, sexy and cute story. Jillian brought back some of my favorite characters and if you don't know by now, that's one of my favorite things about her writing. Plus we got to go back to Strickland University which I LOVE!

If you love a good ole' friends to lovers romance, if you love hockey, if you love secrets, and if you love a big family dynamic in stories then you need to one-click More than Friends right now because this book is for you! It's one you don't want to miss and it's the first book in a new series of Jillian's. I can't wait for more.

{I Received this as an ARC in exchange for an Honest Review}

Every time I start a Jillian Quinn book I get that warm feeling in my chest like the one you get when you get a hug from someone you love( if you like hugs that is) and I got that feeling reading about Dean and Kat! I Love Dean and Kat! They are so close and they are so in love with each other. I love the friends to lovers trope and this one was so great!

Kat and Dean became friends because of hockey. Dean is a Hockey player with plans to go to the NHL. Kat is a hockey player but also the daughter of the hockey legend Nick Baldwin and the sister to two other hockey players in the NHL right now basically she is hockey royalty. Hockey brought them together and the have been best friends since they met. They are both attracted to each other and the both think about taking it to the next level. A hot make out session one year and hot sex the next they are still fighting becoming more. Their friendship is so special that they are both scared if they become more they could ruin it all. Becoming more could change everything. It could ruin his friendship with her younger brothers, It could ruin their friendship, and it would make Kat just Dean's girlfriend before she has even a chance to be her own person, plus they are moving to two desperate states in a few weeks after graduation. The chemistry between them is off the charts and the love is deep. They just have to find away around all these obstacles to be with each other.

I thought this book was great! Dean and Kat have insane chemistry and you can tell that they love each other deeply. I wish they would have got together sooner. This also has a surprise twist that I freaking loved. This book was so good! A really amazing friends to lovers read!

Dean and Kitten

Meeting a fan is always fun especially when they are fans of your dad.... Who'd have thought they'd become your best friend. When Kat met Dean they had an instant connection but these two remained platonic for months. Then slowly a kiss her and touch there and it grew. He fell for her before she realized she fell too. She wanted him to take her v-card and he had to compartmentalize his feelings because he was friends with her twin brothers.

These two held off on their feelings until they had Noah. Then it was game on.

I enjoyed reading this quick book. Perfect amount of romance, growing, mistakes, sex and love.

I think Dean is swoon worthy. A great guy and great dad. Yum.

I love how close knit Kat's family is. Being the middle child, and only girl with 2 older and 2 younger brothers its crazy.

One thing I shake my head about is how stubborn these two can get about not laying their cards on the line. But thankfully it all worked out and they didnt stay seperated for long.

I wonder do they have more kids? Will there be more twins? Maybe a girl? Hopefully when the Baldwin brother series comes out there will be an update on the Caldwell clan is doing.

Baldwin brothers questions: does Duke ever get his anger in check, did he get suspended long after hitting Dean, does he enjoy being an uncle, love and kids for him?

Austin- hes a mystery I need to know more. I feel he'll be a lot like Dean.

The twins- do they still play their games, do they go pro?

Nikk- he's going to have so many grandkids if each of his children have at least 3.

I cannot wait to see how this family grows. And wouldnt it be funny if one of the grandkids went pro for a different sport... Especially one of Dean and Kats? Lol

The moment Kat and Dean met they became fast friends, having hockey in common it brought them together and bonded them, gave them something to hold onto. But then one night things took an interesting, an unexpected, turn when Kat asked Dean to be her first, at first he wanted to tell her no, because he was afraid it would ruin all that they built between one another... but then the thought of her sharing it with someone else damn near killed him. They tried really hard to not let it change things, but it did, it brought them closer, more dependent on one another, and brought about feelings that neither of them expected... love! Now they are facing their graduation and going their separate ways, and the thought of not sharing everyday with one another like they have for the last four is heartbreaking for both of them. Will they find a way to keep this love alive or will they let it slip through their fingertips?

More Than Friends is a solid romance read, loaded with heart, emotion, and some toe curling romance that is sure to leave your cheeks permanently pink... I loved every minute of it! With each new read I devour from this author, the more impressed I become, she always produces such well rounded sports reads that give me just what I'm looking for and a whole lot more. This story was exceptional it had a touch of innocence that spoke to me, one that gave the story line a very plausible and touching feel, it hit me straight in the heart and moved me! I highly recommend you meet these two their special story is sure to give you the feels and leave you moved...and warm up your tablet too!

New adult sports romance that mixes everything from friends to lovers to teammates’ off-limits sister to second chances

More than Friends is a new adult sports romance that mixes a little of everything from friends to lovers to teammates’ off-limits sister to second chances. The book has a nice mix of drama and sweetness that is sure to make this an enjoyable, quick, and easy to read book for most NA romance fans. I won’t say much more as I don’t want to spoil the story.

Told from dual perspective, Kat and Dean have a strong friendship and chemistry that we get to see develop as these two hockey players grow closer during their college years. Kat and Dean are two strong and feisty characters, Kat more so, making them a perfect match and very likeable. What I liked with the relationship between these two is that as the book evolves and secrets are revealed, the friendship we see being established really carries through later on, especially when at times the characters frustrate you a little with how they act in certain scenes. I also liked how Dean being a hockey player mostly has a heart of gold rather than just stereotypical sports star traits. There are also some unique and fun secondary characters who added some extra drama and humour to the book.

If you enjoy standalone sports romances, definitely give this a read - I liked it!

Review: If you enjoy hockey and strong women, then this novel is for you. This story starts during Katherine 'Kitten' aka 'Kat' and Dean’s freshman year in college at Strickland University in Philadelphia. They both play on the hockey teams. Both are talented, strong players. Katherine is the daughter to retired, famous hockey player Nick Baldwin. She and her brothers all play hockey. Her two older twin brothers are already in the NHL and her two younger twin brothers are at Strickland University during her junior year.

This story is about Kat and Dean trying to figure out how they feel about each other romantically. They start out as friends, then move to friends with benefits while they work through their stronger feelings during college. But it’s the struggle as to how they will continue after graduation. Kat moves back to Chicago to start an internship and Dean will be drafted into the NHL.

This story does end with an HEA…after some serious issues. Just a great story and I think you would enjoy it…especially if you love hockey! :D

Dean and Kat!
Dean's love of hockey and fandom of her Kat's legendary Hockey father may be what brings him to meeting Kat one day as she comes off the ice, but every day after it is something else entirely!
Quickly these two form a bond that goes beyond best friends, always toeing that fine line, but Kat's possessive brothers are around to keep that from happening... or are they?
College life is hard enough without the Baldwin family following your every move; Kat will take matters into her own hands with Dean, she just hopes it is the right choice.

Hockey, Friends, Family, College, and Love. A sweet maddening friends to lovers romance that had me up till one A.M determined to find out how Kat And Dean would work out their issues! Watching these two work through their problems was such a frustrating yet, sweet treat. As much as I wanted to dislike Kats brothers for being so possessive of her all time, I just couldn't, that kind of family love is rather endearing! I cannot wait to read more about these boys- that should be interesting!
A sexy, sweet fun, hockey romance By Jillian Quinn that will be going on my reread list!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. That being said, I loved it despite my frustration with the characters. You know that friend of yours that keeps choosing the wrong guy when the perfect one is RIGHT FREAKING THERE?! There's always a reason--sometimes they're even good ones--but you still want to strangle her and the guy for being so stubborn. Meet Kat and Dean. They don't want to ruin their friendship. They talk about literally EVERYTHING, except how much in love they are. The have sex and try to act like it doesn't mean anything. Life gets in the way. Her brothers get in the way. The NHL draft/distance gets in the way. Through it all, their banter is fun and sparkly, and their chemistry is off the charts. Of course, they end up together, but the road is long and bumpy...and I enjoyed every minute. For someone with my full-speed ahead, damn the torpedoes mindset, seeing what goes through the character's heads as they try NOT to be in love is fascinating. It's also incredibly satisfying when they inevitably, FINALLY get their HEA. Take this ride ASAP; you'll be glad you did.

Best Friends...now that’s an interesting statement. Can a man have a best friend who is a woman....yes, why not. That is what talented hockey play Dean Crawford wonders.
Watching Kat Baldwin play is mesmerising. She has the speed of her father, top player Nick Baldwin, his hero. He just has to meet her. He knows her brothers Duke, Austin and twins Theo and Tucker who are oh so mega big time protective of her. It was good to see how their friendship develops, so close it was lovely but what if you want more and don’t want to spoil things. That’s when the fun starts. Fighting an attraction to each other, Dean realises he has something special with Kat and will always love her...forever. Growing up, dealing with family, schoolwork, best friends, Kat is so lucky but now she wants more. Problem is when you get more than you bargained for...a baby.
A fantastic story of two people dealing with emotions, feelings, family , secrets and a shock pregnancy . Love will find a way and as I said, Dean will love Kat Forever 💖

This was a really great book, if you like hockey this is the story for you. Jillian Quinn has a great writing style that just kept you engaged in the whole story, the way her charsscters grew though the whole story was really good. I enjoyed the interaction between Dean and Kst they really had a special bond. Dean Crawford has always idolized Nick Baldwin a professional hockey player, who happens to have a daughter, when he sees Kat for the first time on the ice he is intrigued by her, her speed is outstanding, shes probably better then any guy out there including her famous family. Kat Baldwin loves the game of hockey, she comes from a famous family of hockey players. So when boys come up to her she is a bit weary of their ulterior motives. But she has to admit to herself that Dean seems different because he just wants to be friends. How will things develope between these two? Will they get to know each other as more then friends? Only time will tell I enjoyed this story very much a sweet, sweaty, and hot.

Predictable with no development

This story has no development. It started out fine enough with the meeting of Kat & Dean and showing how their friendship has formed during their time in college. Then it gets to when they cross the proverbial line & they can't sort out their feelings so they stay just friends. *Spoiler alert* Then surprise not so surprise ( because they never used a damn condom), the two are about to graduate college & she comes up pregnant. But does she let him know? Of course not. Let's just keep putting it off until she's about 7 months along & she's not even the one to tell him first. And she's so freaking blasé about it like everything will be fine. These two were never a couple yet would act like one. All the skirting around each other as just stupid miscommunication that you'd think that adults would be smarter about but omg this had me rolling my eyes. Nothing major really happens. If it does, it's brushed off or beaten to death, making the story feel just blah.

Kat’s father is a retired professional hockey player and her older brothers are both in the NHL, so it’s no wonder she knows hockey and plays it well. When she meets Dean, a member of her university's hockey team, she thinks he’s just another fanboy of her father's and keeps him strictly in the friend zone. Since he's friends and teammates with her younger brothers, it’s not like Dean can act on his growing feelings for Kat. But feelings on both sides grow until fate makes it impossible for them to keep their relationship a secret from Kat's family.

The advance copy I read of this book was certainly up to the standard I’ve come to expect from this author. Although it was a little more young adult and angsty than I anticipated, I really enjoyed this friends to lovers/first love story. The book begins when Kat and Dean are college freshmen, so their emotional maturity and communication ability about significant issues was what you would expect for that age. Still, they were well developed, complex likeable characters and I was easily invested in seeing them find their happily ever after. I loved the secondary characters, Kat's brothers, and can’t wait to read their stories! If you enjoy young adult sports romances, you’ll enjoy this one.

Her father was a famous hockey player and now a sports broadcaster and her older 2 brothers play professional and her two younger play college hockey. She plays college hockey and the captain of the guys hockey team starts talking to her and they become best friends. However, he actually loved her from the start but was afraid to ruin their friendship. She felt the same. They were best friends all 4 years of college, but went their separate ways when he was drafted to pro hockey and she had an intern in a different city. She was from a very wealthy family and he had a single mom he tried to help out. She had a big secret that she kept from him until he found out from her brother. Then he was very mad at her. She moved in with him and he stayed mad for awhile, but they finally got their HEA. The ending was great. I enjoy all the books from this author and can't wait for her next one.

Another fabulous book by Ms. Quinn. It didn’t take long before the action got started on the ice and Dean was watching Kat fighting for the puck and he would be fighting to get to know her before the night was over. As he stood there waiting for her to walk by to get her attention, he managed to talk her into it. Over the years they were best friends but it became more than friends, she wanted more and Dean was willing. But after graduation they were separating and going in opposite directions but kept in touch, until it became alittle more serious and their connection grew and they wanted to be together. Things happened and Dean had her come to Philly and stay with him. So they could start a life together. This story was about friends becoming lovers and handling all the obstacles that stand in the way. And that includes family and friends. It’s a fantastic love story. I received this as an arc for an honest review

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for an honest review. This was such a great book, I loved Dean and Kat. This book is fun, caring, loving and swoon worthy as others have said. Dean and Kat meet and both have the love of hockey. Friendship ensues and they are inseparable, unsure of how to deal with the feelings they are having for each other, they decide to stay friends so not to ruin what they have. But when you give in one night to passion and everything changes and Kat becomes distant and the only thing Dean can do is give her space and wait. Kat has a secret and has tried to tell him, but fails every time, but when Dean finds out what it is, will his love for Kat be enough to forgive her deception? I was hooked from the start and couldn’t put this down, I loved it and highly recommend it!! Grab it to find out what transpires between these two friends to lovers.

OMG OMG I LOVED this book, Dean and Kat are amazing, they are best friends All because
Dean had found out that his Hockey Idols, daughter went to the same college as he does
when he goes to the rink to watch her play he doesnt just want to meet her because of who
her dad is but because he cant take his eyes off her, she plays amazingly and she is beautiful
They become best friends, Kat has 4 over protective brothers who have scared off any boyfriends
so one night while her and Dean are hanging out she asks him if he will be her first,
Things change but stay the same after they have sex, even though both of them wonder if
the other feels the same.
I LOVED this I do not want to give anything away but OMG so so so wonderful. Read it in one sitting
because I COULD not put it down.

When Dean find’s out his hockey hero’s daughter is attending college with him he knows that he has to meet her. Once he meets her who her father is doesn’t matter as they have an immediate connection and they become best friends.

Kat has had experience with people only wanting to be close to her because of her hockey family but there is something different about Dean. She wants to be more than friends but things are complicated by the fact that her brothers are his teammates.

Over their time in college their relationship escalated from best friends to friends with benefits but what happens when their lives are pointing in different directions once college is done?

Dean and Kat are the perfect pair but like any relationship love is not without challenges. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A new standalone from Jillian Quinn that was just impossible to put down. I absolutely love sports romance novels, especially if they are about hockey. Add in that the majority of the book is based in a college setting, and I was as excited as if it were Christmas morning.
Jillian certainly knows how to write a compelling yet believable story. This best friends to lovers book is different in that Dean & Kat easily expressed their love to each other, but of course were both hesitant to take their relationship further as they didn't want to risk or ruin their friendship.
Another great story that had me both wanting to devour the book, and also take my time as I just wanted it to never end.
Loved the ending!!!

Even though I felt it was short (this is just my opinion cos I could of read about these two for days), it was jam packed with everything you need.
It was fun, serious and so sexy.
One of my favourite genres is friends to lovers and this book did not disappoint.
I completely fell head over heals for Dean and I want one of my own!
Both Dean and Kat were absolutely perfect for each other in every single way. The bond they share is so special and so rare, it just made my heart happy.
I also loved that the secondary characters were so strong and I cannot wait to hear more about them.
Another amazing book Jillian! Thankyou for these amazing words and beautiful story that just made my heart warm!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a very cute first love story about best friends Dean and Kat.
Jillian has really captured the uncertainty of young feelings, falling in love with your best friend and trying to have it all.
Dean is an absolute sweetheart who frankly, had the patience of a saint when dealing with Kat's more uncertain feelings.
Kat for me was more of a challenge to understand. Her hesitation in committing to a relationship with Dean, while understandable due to distance, was quite annoying. I wanted to jump into the book and tell her to go for it!
I loved the fact that Kat has 4 brothers who are overprotective but fun too. A series about these Baldwin brothers is bound to be great. Roll on next year!

This is sweet love story with a lot of drama at the end. Dean is charming, loyal and sweet. Kat is tough, smart and quiet. They start as friends, but each of them develops feelings for the other that they are afraid to share, they don't want to ruin a great friendship. Then they become friends with benefits. At the end of college Kat runs home and hides with her secret. When Dean finds out about it, he gets angry and stays angry for months. The storyline is intriguing and the characters are all interesting in their own way.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
