Maddie Graves went from an unhappy life in the city to her version of the perfect life in Blackstone Bay. Now she’s going back … and danger is stalking her every move.
When Maddie gets a call from a police officer she knows in Detroit, she can’t turn her back on his plea. It seems girls are going missing in the city and some of them have turned up dead in an abandoned city lot.
Nick Winters wants to focus on his upcoming wedding to Maddie, not danger in a city he’s uncomfortable visiting. Maddie puts her foot down, though, and it’s either let her go alone or tag along for the ultimate ride. There’s only one option.
Maddie may be familiar with the landscape – especially when their investigation takes her to the hospital where she used to work – but Nick is a fish out of water and their investigative techniques don’t mesh.
Detroit is a gritty city and there’s danger afoot. A predator lurks in the shadows and it just might be someone from Maddie’s past.
It’s going to take everyone working together to solve this one, and even then death might come calling. Nick is determined to make sure Maddie isn’t the grim reaper’s next victim but he’s not necessarily safe himself.
Trouble is here again … and nobody is safe.

It’s going to be a bit different the author said?????

And it was!!!!!!!!

Which just made the whole story more amazing 😉

Maddy and Nick the sweetest couple in the universe are back and yes still sweet as ever but with a few twists, that I just loved.

Maddy letting Maddy rock more lol talk about a great time to find your voice sweetie....lol

Nick the ever faithful puppy had his boxers in a twist a few times during this story but his unconditional love eventually won out in the end.

who ever said love was a smooth straight path never found true love 💗 Maddy and Nick have found each other and its and eternal bond kind of love that will weather all the bumps but the bumps just keep it interesting.

Maddie and Nick are blissfully happy, but when Maddie gets a call from her detective friend in the city, things get complicated. Maddie knows she needs to help her friend solve these murders, but Nick doesn't want Maddie in danger. This leads to a stand off that eventually ends up with both of them going to the city.

However, nothing is ever as it seems with Maddie and Nick, and they are walking into a lot more danger than they realized.

This book was okay. It wasn't as good as some of the previous books, but it was still enjoyable. I loved Maddie and Nick's relationship, and I enjoyed how they acted. But the mystery felt like it was a bit rushed towards the end, and a bit anti-climatic. Other than that, I enjoyed it, and I look forward to more.

Entertaining Paranormal cozy mystery series

This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A fun cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Maddie Graves is a young woman who has a bit of psychic ability as well as the ability to see and speak to ghost. She lives in a small upper northern Michigan town where she owns magic shop Elizabeth a grandmother and her fiancé Nick who happens to be a police officer in the town. for a number of years she lived and worked in Detroit and worked with a police officer down there and became friends and helped him with a few of his cases down there. Before moving back to their small town I’m getting reunited with Nick. Read on and see what adventures await her this time. Always fun entertaining and full of mystery and make him.

Maddie and Nick leave Blackstone Bay

I love this series, let me get that said first, I love Lily Harper Harte writing style and the characters she creates. Mardy and Nick have always been very lovely dovey always reassuring each other of how they feel, that there's nobody else for them that their love is everything, get the picture. It can be a bit cloying and repetitive. But in this book, where Dwight, Maddies detective friend from Detroit calls her for help things get impossible. There's a serial killer, the remains of twenty women are found so Dwight needs whatever help he can get. Yet all Maddie and Nick can do is back and forth about loving each other and for Nick not to be angry with Maddie for needing to help and Maddie worrying that Nick will stop loving her because she sometimes thinks for herself. In real life these people would not and could not exist and I know books are escapism but please, please give it a rest, yes, we get it they love each other always have always will it doesn't need saying a dozen times a day, each. Also the killer was really obvious and so should Dwight identifying him have been. There has been a downwards trend to this series like it's passed its peak but if the Author would just stop all the schmaltz I'm sure the series would recover.

Grave Return

Dwight Kincaid has a problem over 20 bodies, all of them young women, have turned up in an abandoned lot. He calls Maddie and she and a very reluctant and anxious Nick head to Detroit to help.

Nick hasn't really considered Maddie's life for the ten years she was away but the reality of what she dealt with on a daily basis is soon crashing down around him. From the mocking detectives at Dwight's precinct to the hospital Doctors who lustfully watch her every move. From her old, shabby apartment to the tawdry, mean streets that seem to encircle it. The only positive things Maddie had were her friendships with Dwight and less than a handful of nurses who worked with her.

Things head off with a meeting with the man on the streets, Big Wally, a huge giant who runs the local streets including the lot the bodies were found on. He's got other things to hide, things Maddie reveals, and now they're dealing with a human trafficking ring on top of hunting a serial killer. Big Wally makes a deal and while he's not completely innocent, it's obvious that he's no intentional killer.

Maddie is drawn to the spirit of a young girl who was a victim of a street shooting. She's not got answers but points them in the right direction. Nick's fears expand as he's winged in a drive by shooting and Maddie is surprised to find Sage Kincaid has been keeping secrets from her father, secret's that could turn the whole case on its head.

Can Maddie piece together the facts she has and stop a killer in their tracks? Or will she become the next victim herself?

I pretty much love all of Lily Harper Hart's books. I think this is the 4th series I've read of hers, and they are all fabulous fun. The characters are just outstanding - well developed with real personalities and both strengths and flaws.

Maddie is a sweet person. She's sensitive to what others think of her and her friends, and just wants to live her life in peace and happiness with Nick, her best friend since they were 5. Nick is a police officer, and has loved Maddie his whole life. They reconciled when she returned to town, and are now engaged.

Dwight pops up again in this episode: over 20 bodies of girls and women have been found, and more than 30 are still missing. He desperately needs Maddie's help to find out what's going on and put a stop to it. Of course she can't say no, and Nick is furious that she's putting herself in danger again. He really doesn't appreciate finding out that the doctors at her old hospital are still interested in her...and one of them may be the murderer...

Good job, Ms. Hart

I like that this series is grittier than the usual cozy mystery. The comic relief that Granny and Christy provide is absent since Maddie is back in Detroit; however, the sweet factor provided by Maddie's and Nick's relationship provides a bit of balance. Good thing, too, because Maddie's detective friend Dwayne wants her to help stop a sadistic and prolific serial killer. The story is well-written and sometimes terribly sad; it was hard to believe the guilty could be so ridiculous while managing to avoid detection for so long. The tension between Nick and Maddie is believable and overdue; they both have issues to address, but at least Nick makes an effort while Maddie blithely dismisses any concerns that aren't her own. I still love this couple, though! I appreciated this change of pace and the glimpse of Maddie 's life in Detroit, but I can't wait to return to Blackstone Bay.

A detective story with a touch of paranormal.

Boy meets girl, and they fall in love. Life intervenes and they let anger ruin their young love. The girl runs away and they grow into adults.
She became a nurse. He became a policeman. She returns home and love blooms anew.
Now for the story.... A serial killer on the loose in the big city. Lots of bodies found, but little leads. The lead detective calls the nurse to help give them some direction. Can/will she help?
The killer was fairly obvious to me early on, but there was an expected twist. The story was easy to read, editing done, and although the main characters are reoccurring the novel was complete into itself. An entertaining read.

I love this series and this author but unfortunately this wasn't my favorite so it wasn't a 5 star for me, just my opinion. Still 4 stars because it was a typical Maddie and Nick mystery, but the content of the story was just not a topic I cared for. I guess it seems too real and heartbreaking to me. I was glad to see Nick finally letting go of his seriously too sweet attitude when Maddie screws up and letting her know when he is angry, although I was disappointed to see he let her off the hook so quickly. I didn't figure things out until they were putting pieces together so she got me there 😉 👏 I'm usually pretty good at figuring out "who dunnit" early on 👏👏. I am anxious to get started on the next book I am a little behind...so many books so little time😰

A Chilling Whodunnit!

Maddie & Nick take off from peaceful Blackstone Bay for the mean streets of Detroit to help her friend, Detective Dwight, catch a serial killer. Nick gets to see where & how Maddie lived during their time apart. As both are out of their element, especially Nick, it makes this book more chilling & compelling than its predecessors. There is still the Maddie/Nick lovefest, but not as much humor. I really enjoyed the change of pace, however, like Maddie & Nick I will be very happy to return to Blackstone Bay!

Different but still great!!!

This book was different to its usual style. In this book Maddie gets called back to the city when Dwight calls her for help in investigating the disappearance and murders of many young women.
We get an insight into what life was like for Maddie while she was living in the city.
I missed Christy, Maude and all the other usual characters that usually gives a humorous part of a story.
The storyline of this book was gruesome and intense with regards to the case.
A very different but still great story.

I love the author and really like the characters in this series, but there is one thing that is really starting to bother me. Nick is way too overprotective of Maddie, almost to the point of being controlling. Those scenes are starting to make me mad, and the overly lovey dovey scenes are getting old also. Maybe it is because I have read all 12 books back to back (just discovered the series this year) but those details are causing me to not like the last few books as much as I enjoyed the earlier ones.

A Good Mystery with a Paranormal Twist

It was a good story, kept me guessing almost to the end.
One thing I'm not crazy about is how Nick makes Maddie feel bad and apologize for taking care of business and doing what her instincts tell her to do and be who she is. He only wants her to be a better and stronger person on his terms.
I will keep reading because most of the time it is a great dynamic, but that bothers me.

This book really tugged my heartstrings. I enjoyed seeing Maddie and Nick out in Detroit although at times Nick was a bit sappy and frustrated me with how controlling he was of Maddie, but I'm glad she stuck up for herself.

I had kinda worked out the killer/s but wasn't sure, which I really enjoy in a mystery. I loved seeing more of Dwight and how he handled Nick and Sage is fab and a decent Christie replacement.

Darker than I expected

This book was darker than expected and didn't have the same vibe Ms. Hart's books usually have. It had a somewhat happy ending, just not as happy as most of her books. The ending also felt rushed to me. It's still a good book, and I would recommend it to anyone, but it didn't leave me with a big smile on my face. Oh well, I know the next book will be even better.

This one may have been my favorite of this series. It was great seeing Detroit through Maddie and Nick's eyes, and I really enjoyed the insight into Maddie's past there. Both seemed to grow as characters, which I always appreciate. The mystery was interesting, as it always is. I always enjoy Maddie and Nick's romance--even when it can get a little overly shmaltzy at times--but I thought the serious subject matter here helped to balance things out a little. Looking forward to book 13!

Good storyline

This was a good story, set in Detroit this time.

As usual lots of schmaltzy "love you more" "you're so awesome" Jr. High dialogue. Some talk of sex, as usual but no gross innuendos this time.I

Nick is getting harder to like. If my daughter was dating him, I would advise her to run, no one needs a controlling partner. Maddy never keeps him from going to work or has someone watching him all the time for his "safety".

Grave Danger(Maddie Graves Mystery book 12

This book was really different. It was hard to read because I know it was written from real life. Life is hard for people who are being held against their will. I love this series and she writes a wonderful love story. I highly recommend all her books and different series. She writes great mysteries a d good love stories. Diana Romano

Crappy ending

Left a lot of loose ends for me. In a weekend they solve a serial murder, take down a huge crime lord, save women from human trafficking

In a weekend.

I need more closure than this provided. Like what about Paloma? Maudes plants? Gardening?

Not the author's best work

Good read.

Good story and good mystery. Figured part of it out but there was also a twist. Some sad bits. No romantic sexual situations but sexual content as it discusses trafficking and prostitution. Violence mainly off page except for a non lethal drive by and a wrestle fight.

Recommended series.

Loved the new setting

Maddie and Nick are heading back to Detroit where Maddie will revisit friendships. Friendships that Nick is struggling with do their time apart, he is having a hard time with some of the truths from their time apart.

Excellent

Lily your books are awesome. How the characters relate to each other are well written. The story line is pretty amazing too. I must say I knew who did it, although I did like the twist you put in there. Well done. Time for book 13!

Another Good Grave mystery

I’m a bit over hearing the love banter between Maddie and Nick (we get it, we get it) but the move to a different local was interesting and the author did a great job utilizing red herrings.

Nick's not allowing Maddie any freedom to make her own decisions and change as situations demand is incredibly obvious and annoying in this novel. Boring mystery with all of it having happened in the past.

Enjoyable all the way through

For some reason I can't put these books down. The characters are entertaining. It's fun to watch Maddie develop her own sense of snark. Nice clean mystery that may be too sweet for some but is never boring.

Back to Detroit for a case

Her detective friend calls Maddie to help with a case involving a serial killer, but she had already had a vision about it. Nick's not happy about the danger, but she wants to help, get justice for the women she saw.

Maddie's backbone

Maddie needs to jerk up on Nick's chain. He acted like a manipulative jerk in this book and I didn't like that. He uses love to control Maddie and as a former abused spouse it bothers me a lot.

Good read

Book 12 has multiple murders, a serial killer (or 2), mysteries, back to the big city, angst, quirky characters, ghosts, and a big fight between our couple. Highly entertaining
