Little Bear #4

آفرین، خرس کوچولو

Rate this book
While exploring in the forest with Big Bear, Little Bear sets out on his own adventures. All by himself, he finds a rock to climb and a branch to bounce on. And every step of the way, Big Bear is nearby to praise him for a job well done. But when Little Bear tries to cross a stream, he finds himself in trouble. Of course, Big Bear is always there to lend a reassuring hand. Now, the award-winning team of Waddell and Firth tell another classic tale about the love and support that all Big Bears give their Little Bears.

Cute story about a little Bear and A Big bear, and how the Big Bear is always there to support and help the little Bear.

The writing killed me though, way too much little bear, big bear. It was a killer to read.
ex.
little Bear bounced on the branch.
"Watch me bounce higher, Big Bear!" Little Bear said.
"Well done, Little Bear,"said Big Bear.
"Are you ready, Big Bear?"
Little Bear called to Big Bear.
Little Bear bounced higher and higher.

The whole story is filled with it, just about drove me over the edge, if I wasn't reading it to my daughter at the time I would have closed the story and threw it away.

After greatly enjoying my first excursion into the world of Big Bear and Little Bear, in the form of cute-as-a-button bedtime book, Can't You Sleep, Little Bear? , I thought I would try another of their picture-book adventures, and Good Job, Little Bear (published in the UK as Well Done, Little Bear ) did not disappoint! Another sweetly satisfying examination of the parent-child relationship, it follows the ursine duo as they take a stroll through the forest, with Little Bear ranging out in front, and exploring - climbing rocks, leaping off branches, skipping across streams - and Big Bear always there, in the background, ready to catch his little one, and keep him safe.

An endearing story, one which emphasizes the parent's role as protector and teacher - Big Bear is always there, in the background, willing to let Little Bear discover the world on his terms, but ready to step in, if his help is needed - Good Job, Little Bear offers reassurance and affirmation for young children, who are just beginning to get a sense of the wider world beyond their home, and to feel both drawn to it, and fearful of it. I liked that this is a father-son duo, as so many of these types of books seem to focus more on the mother's role as nurturer, and neglect the father's. The artwork, done in watercolor, is every bit as cute as in Can't You Sleep, Little Bear? , and perfectly captures the emotional register of each scene. All in all, it's another winner from Waddell and Firth!

A reassuring tale about Little Bear and Big Bear, who go exploring in the woods. Little Bear is by turns nervous and brave, and sometimes things don't quite go as he would hope, but Big Bear is always there for him to help him over the little bumps in the way, and to offer encouragement. A sweet and snuggly story that will be perfect for children just venturing out on their own not-quite-independent adventures.

as a former child, who has been read this and kept the copy to this day and quotes it to this day, it's safe to say, it holds a special place in my heart. i'd recommend this especially for parents of neurodiverse children.

Of course, this book does not have quite an action-packed plot and the words are repetitive. But it's a children's book, man. Many children like repetition, and if the one thing your child hears repeated often is "Well done, little one!"... How the fuck is that a bad thing? Especially with all the statistics on how we retain negative feedback better than the good counterpats and that especially neurodiverse children (which are skyrocketing rn due to our collective inability to put away those damn phones) are cussed out I think on average 10 times the amount that they are praised, which gives them a peak headstart into being depressed for the rest of their fucking life... Maybe just deal with this minor annoyance for the sake of the mental health of your child.

Little Bear is very lucky to have Big Bear around. They clearly trust each other and could have ended up in a bit of trouble if they hadn't been there together. Big Bear seems to do most of the catching (or saving), except it's very good when Little Bear can point out where things went wrong so Big Bear can stay safe and not repeat the same mistakes to get in trouble so they make it safely through the woods (and water).

It was a very cute book, but I feel like it might be more beneficial for a parent to read this to their child instead of reading it to students, but I did like the message and how it shows the mother is there for her child no matter what because I want my students to know that I am there for them no matter what.

It's a sweet story about giving security and confidence to our children by giving them opportunities to explore with help of our reassuring precence in the background.

Little Bear leads Big Bear on an explore. Big Bear is always there to watch and catch and help Little Bear, even in the slippery stream. Lovely illustrations for this comforting story.

The Little Bear books hold a special place in my heart because they were regulars in my childhood home. "Good Job, Little Bear" is no exception. With its endearing story of the loving encouragement from parent to child, this book is a great read for toddlers and preschoolers!

Very wholesome. I don’t know why this isn’t getting 5*’s from everybody. I really loved it. It’s about a Big Bear who loves and supports his Little Bear which allows him to have fun, use his imagination and flourish all whilst knowing he is loved. It shows how they trust once another completely. It’s a perfect children’s story and I can’t wait to hear it again.

I like the Little Bear books, so the rating is more for the series than for this individual book, which is not my favourite. Little Bear wants to explore on his own ... with Big Bear close at hand to rescue him when he overreaches himself. These are lovely, gentle books about a little one learning about the world and spreading his wings from the safety of a loving relationship with a "Big Bear".

Love the pictures. A cute story of trusting a care-giver to always be there for you. Not quite what I was looking for in my RA search, but a sweet book that has a place and will be good to keep in mind (especially on parental holidays).
