Even though I've read several of these stories from his blog, this book still delivers laughs and feels. Maynard truly has a gift for storytelling (in the finest Viking tradition) and has a family sweet and wacky enough to make each story an adventure worth treasuring. He's like Erma Bombeck, if Bombeck was 6' 4", 400 lbs, and had a much snarkier clan. So, really not much like Erma Bombeck. Better. Much better.

An uplifting read. At some points I laughed out loud. At other points I found a poignancy that speaks wisdom to parents and those without children (like myself). A great read for those seeking something sentimental and light.

This first read's giveaway was a laugh out loud fun read, while adding some of the seriousness we all face as we grow older as a parent. This little book was a gentle reminder that none of us are perfect parents, and it's okay. It points out that we need to cherish moments with our families- kids grow up too fast, and our parents grow older before we are ready for them too. I would recommend any parent read this little gem to remind themselves no parent is perfect, and every family has a quirky, crazy side that we need to embrace everyday.

This is NOT a serious tome, but a fun look at the good parts of life, growth, and being taught many things by ones children by a very tall and talented Viking descendant. These insightful musings are the humorous gleanings of his rather popular blog, and those of us who have been parents or the children of a family will chortle with glee as we meander through this brief but very enjoyable book. I loved it once I got it back from another nameless Norwegian!

It was anecdotal and cute, but disjointed. It read more as a collection of scattered thoughts.
