Held accountable for his actions following the election, Lucifer is offered a choice by serve as Earth’s Opposer, or face reset. A choice without a choice, Lucifer accepts the mission and quickly learns that swaying the hearts and minds of the physicals, the veiled men and women of Earth who are forced to find truth and light on their own despite countless distractions, is much easier than he’d anticipated. With a following of billions, Lucifer sets out to dominate the world from Hell where he’d been imprisoned. Angry, and vowing to control all mankind, to make them pay for their pre-mortal choices, he skillfully applies his intelligence and craft to destroy them all and declare victory over God.
The story focuses mostly on Lucifer and his followers, feeling a little reminiscent of the Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis.
The author starts off with the world before we were born and takes us through significant scriptural events. He sets these up in a way that we may never have thought of, and then moves on to the next one. He finishes just before the end of the world.
In these events, he illustrates the absolute necessity to have opposition in all things and how it was set up in the beginning. He presents things in a different light with insights that leave you thinking. You will want to put the book down so you can digest it, but you are hooked and have to keep reading.
It is an interesting view coming from the side of Lucifer. Causes you to think about how he got into that dark position he is in and even feel that loss of someone we could have known and loved before we came to earth. Sorrow is felt on both sides of the spectrum.
