I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It is an enemies-to-lovers story..Both Suzie and Nate hated each other in high school, both did things that they had carried around on them. They meet at Suzie's sister Laura's wedding, since Nate was Laura's friend, and Suzie did not recognize the hottie who unfortunately for her was Nate, and the gloves are off. As they end up spending time together they get to air out their grievances, and now what? Well my friends you have to read..Totally cute..

What happens when as an adult you run into the person that started a nasty rumor about you in high school or the person that came up with a humiliating nickname? Do you vent your spleen or want to push them under the nearest bus? Well that’s the position that Suzie and Nate find themselves in when they are both attendees at Suzi’s sisters wedding. Nate had a secret crush on Suzie in high school while Suzie had one on Nate’s brother. In a fit of anger Nate alluded to his brother that Suzie would do anything for a passing grade. Suzie being intimidated by Nate’s intelligence came up with a major nickname that he hated with a passion.
Now they are all grown up still sporting those childhood wounds, and run into the very physically altered adult versions of those childhood memories. Suzie can’t get over how incredibly hot Nate is and Nate can’t get over how his body is reacting to Suzie’s grown up body. Trying to fight their bodies physical responses to each other while warring with the need for revenge on the past hurts these two are using every opportunity to insult and belittle each other.
As fate would have it Suzie needs to leave the tropical island her sisters wedding is taking place on and Nate has the only boat available that would let her make her deadline. These two reluctantly agree to a truce so that she can get off the island. Along the way the boat runs into some mechanical issues and things get slowed down for a while. They finally have an opportunity to really talk and clear the air about their past hurts. Things really heat up and both are now left in a position of deciding if they want to take things from the water to dry land.
These two bickered back and forth for a while and it was very nice when it finally stopped so we could actually get to the story. Suzie instead of having a weight issue for her to stress over the author gave her an intelligence issue for her to base her whole world on. While she was not a rocket scientist Suzie had a lot of common sense and great personal acumen. Once she stopped beating herself up about not being up to Nate’s genius level she came across as a strong woman.
Nate has been designing software for most of his life and which is where he gets his millions. He was in the process of modifying a self-propelled software when they got stranded. Once Nate stopped snipping at Suzie he came across as a really caring, supportive man. He pointed out all of her abilities and what she accomplished on her own to be a successful businesswoman. While he was drawn to her he also was dealing with a very deep loss in his life and he didn’t know if he would be able to get past that and give his heart to Suzie. Will her open willingness to take chances help Nate conquer his fear?
While the story was good and the characters came across as pretty level headed adults once they got past the snipping I just couldn’t warm up to them. They were actually both very likeable so it wasn’t the characters themselves per say, maybe once things cleared up the chemistry went flat? Not sure. Her younger sister Laura was a bit of pain with her sometimes-condescending attitude towards Suzie she was my main gripe. Other than that the story was easy to follow and had some sweet moments.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I LOVED this story by Talia Hunter. Nate had a major crush on Suzie when they were in high school but, he was so like her super clever sister Laura, that Suzie was only interested in bad boys. SO Nate started a nickname for Suzie that humiliated her [well he was a nerdy high school teenager- so give him a break!]. Consequently, Suzie and Nate were enemies. Dash forward over the years and he is now very successful and they meet at Laura's wedding. They don't recognise each other at first and can't help being attracted to one another. Nate has hired the resort's yacht and he offers to help her get to the airport via sea. Despite all the high tech you could wish for they end up being stranded and one thing leads to another and suddenly there is no hate between them. But there is plenty of lust and passion. They think this is only a one night stand but they get more time together and they really sit down and talk to each other and discuss their own insecurities. laura's being that she never felt clever enough compared to Laura or him, whilst Nate gets the chance for her to see the sweet and caring man that he is today. Such a lovely story with 3-dimensional characters, great dialogue that is witty and flirtatious all leading to one HEA. I look forward to reading more of Talia's stories. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED
Is it an enemies-to-lovers story, or a second-chance romance? Really, it's both, and it's amazingly sweet and at times heartbreaking as it melds these two approaches into one unforgettable love story. Meeting up with each other ten years after high school, Nate is determined to let his carefully-cultivated hatred for Suzie overrule his hopeless crush on her, while Suzie reminds herself of all the reasons she has to stay far, far away from Nate. If only the electrifying chemistry they share didn't keep throwing them into each other's arms!
This is a story about misunderstandings, youthful mistakes, learning to talk things through and forgive each other, and finding one's own inner goddess. At times it seemed like Suzie had to stay away from Nate despite how much she (and the reader!) wanted a HEA, because sometimes sanity and self-respect are more important than life-altering love. There's a bit of a side story that will require some tissues, and a lot of fun in the sun that's enhanced by the privacy of the stranded boat and is sure to warm you and your kindle on the coldest of winter nights.
The writing is simply brilliant in this book, and I stayed up way too late finishing it in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Self made millionaire Nate Mason is on Lantana Island for a wedding but almost hadn't come because he dreaded seeing the beautiful and curvy Suzie. The last thing Nate needs is to have Suzie embedded in his mind for another ten years, permeating his thoughts and dreams. Suzie is at her sister Laura's wedding trying to figure out the seating arrangements when she smiles at the hottie behind her. Hottie glares at Suzie and says “You don’t recognize me, do you?” Turns out hottie was the nerdiest nerd in high school Suzie had nicknamed Milhouse. Nate hates Suzie for giving him the Milhouse nickname that had stuck with him all throughout high school, and Suzie hates Nate for making his brother Harrison not want to go out with her because of lies that Nate had told him about her. But the chemistry between Nate and Suzie is even stronger than their hate ... what happens when they get stranded on a yacht for days?
Talia Hunter delivers a funny, sweet and steamy story that you won't be able to put down
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book
Wow, these two are snippy with each other! I'd guess that makes this an enemies-to-lovers romance, which is one of my favorite tropes. Nate and Suzie have hated each other since an unfortunate incident in high school, so when they see each other again on Lantana Island while there for Suzie's sister's wedding, the sparks are flying! Not really the good kind of sparks at first, though, until stuck on a failing boat and soon the sparks are turning into the good kind. The sexy kind.
I like it when the leads in any stories are so feisty with each other that they're not afraid to call each other on their b.s. And these two are most definitely not afraid to call each other out! Thank God they finally stopped taking jabs at each other, though, and got down to the good kind of business, because I was starting to wonder if they'd ever get together. When they did...whew!
If enemies-to-lovers is your thing, then take a chance on The Devil She Knew!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The Devil She Knew is the second book in the A Lantana Island Romance series. I haven't read the first book since this is my first read by the author, but it can be read as a standalone. I couldn't put it down until the end. It's a funny, hot, enemies to lovers contemporary romance that you shouldn't miss. A great storyline with adorable and sexy characters. Years ago, Nate lies to his brother, trying to keep him from dating Suzie, his one-year-older crush. Somehow the lie spreads thru out their high school and ruins Suzie's life. She hated him ever since. Now she's stuck with him on a yacht and hate is the last thing on her mind. I highly recommend it and can't wait to get in my hands' book one and any othér book wrttén by Talia Hunter.

I 100% enjoyed Suzie and Nate's story. I really connected with Suzie and was pulling for her to see the value in herself. Nate's story was sad and his walls so high I really wasn't sure if he could tear them down to fully be with Suzie. I thought it was a wonderful twist that Suzie helped Harrison find the will to start writing and that Harrison, who fully relied on Nate to be the one to make open his eyes and realize that to feel love and happiness is worth any pain you might also endure because of it. Truly inspirational. This is the first book I have read by this author but it will not be the last. I highly recommend this one to anyone looking for a story that will touch and inspire you.
This was another steamy, fun story that takes place in the Bahamas. These two childhood enemies find themselves forced to reconcile their feelings and grow up for good.
Neither Nate nor Suzie really have a good idea what the other is like as an adult. They are just holding on tight to childhood quibbles. But after they are stuck on the same sailboat on the way to the mainland, they are forced to confront their growing feelings for one another.
I loved how the author made the story steamy and sexy without overdoing the sex scenes. I loved the way Suzie cooked on board with limited resources. These books are written very well and what I would refer to as elevated romance. You will have fun and enjoy a well written story at the same time.
Nate was a scrawny geeky nerdy brainiac who had a knack for making Suzie feel stupid. She grew up with a younger brainiac sister which only amplified this feeling. Now he’s successful and gorgeous, and he’s the last person in the world Suzie wants to share a tropical holiday with, though that is what happens when they both attend the destination wedding of Suzies sister. This was a very good book, I think it is definitely worth the read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Cute ememies-to-lovers... Suzie can't believe the hottie at her sister's wedding is the nerdy kid who once spread a rumour about her. Nate is a millionaire brainiac who secretly crushed on Suzie even when she called him names.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. What a beautiful book! I enjoyed the initial banter and fights between Suzie & Nate, which obviously turned into passion! It is an exciting and heartbreaking book all at once and I loved it!! The ending is perfect!! Pity Laura ruined Nate's surprise... but what are sisters for right?

I love funny, witty writing and I must say this book checked all the boxes for me and then some. I absolutely recommend it along with the rest of the books in the series. You won’t be disappointed!
This enemies to lovers romance was so captivating. Suzie and Nate went to school together when they were young. After a misunderstanding, they have loathed each other ever since. Now years later they accidentally meet again at a wedding on romantic Lantana Island. They can't seem to get over the hurt from the past, but they also can't deny their fiery attraction. When they are forced to spend time together, old wounds become less important and they begin to see each other for who they are today. But Suzie struggles to find her passion and doesn't feel like she is good enough for anyone, especially a successful businessman like Nate. What she doesn't realize is that they both have secrets in their pasts that could prevent their happiness. I was thoroughly engaged in this story from start to finish. There were so many laugh out loud moments but many sweet and heartwarming moments as well, not to mention their fiery passion! Their family and friends are all intriguing characters adding to the depth of this story. If you are looking for a heartfelt, funny, sexy romance you will absolutely love this book!
