Some call him Purgatory’s Missing Prince. Demon Master. Overlord of Shadows. Only one woman may call him hers.

A master of dreams, a failure at life…

After another botched career attempt, Quinn Carmichael escapes to a remote lodge for a weekend recharge, needing respite…especially from the nightmares that haunt even her days. When a wounded, sexy-as-sin stranger faceplants unconscious on her kitchen floor, there’s something disturbingly familiar about him—as in he’s the boy from her childhood dreams. Mr. Dark, Dangerous, and Diabolical may be the key to unlocking the mysteries of her past and future, and Quinn isn’t about to let the opportunity—or him—escape without a fight.

His time is running out…

Known as Purgatory’s Missing Prince, Zaire’s existence has been one of endless pain, torture, and loss. Resigned to his fate, his final goal is simple—rescue his nephew before succumbing to the deadly darkness inside him. But when a fateful misstep brings him face-to-face with the one woman who could have saved him once upon a dream—the one woman he treasures above all else—he battles to keep his distance before he destroys her, too. But he would gladly sell his soul for just one taste.

Love draws them together, destiny will tear them apart

With ruthless enemies closing in, Quinn and Zaire must fight to save each other and those they care for before it’s too late—even if it means they’re doomed to live apart forever.

Once upon a time, a girl with flat hobbit feet dreamed of adventures in the woods with an elven hero, fighting off orcs and saving magical rings. All grown up now, C.J. Burright resides in Oregon (at least she got the trees). While she faces her duties at the law office day job, she avoids writing legal thrillers and instead turns toward romance—contemporary (sometimes with a supernatural flair), paranormal or fantasy. With a 5th Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, it’s no surprise she prefers feisty heroines who aren’t afraid to jump into the fight. Her slivers of spare time are spent working out, gardening, playing the latest Assassin’s Creed, and rooting on the Seattle Mariners, always with music. She shares a house with her husband (not elven, alas, but a fine alternative) and a devoted cat herd while missing her daughter from afar. C. He is dying and has one goal before his enemies in the darkness win, save his young nephew. Weakened and alone, Zaire literally falls back into the life of a special woman, one he knew in her dreams as a child. One he could never forget. One he should never want. One he may need more than he could ever know.

Quinn’s life has been haunted by nightmares, so when her escape into seclusion is breached by a dark and wounded man, she finds herself face to face with the young hero of her childhood dreams. He helped her once, then disappeared but now he is back and she may be the only one to save him now, just as he may hold the answers to the mysteries of her life as well as the key to unlocking her lonely heart.

First, they must learn to trust, to open up and stay alive, then they must save a young boy from a fate worse than death, all because Zaine is a master of dreams, living his own nightmare and DANGEROUSLY DARK. Can the beautiful Dream Catcher, who has lived with monsters in her dreams reconcile that this dark and tormented man could be the answer to her prayers? Can she believe in a dark and dreamless world that must feed off those with the power to dream? Is Zaine as vile as he claims? Sometimes we find what is missing when we least expect it and it has the power to save more than our souls.

C.J. Burright’s latest addition to the Dreamcasters Series is another spellbinding read! Face it, we all dream, we all have nightmares, but who could imagine that somewhere, evil is feeding off those sleeping thoughts? Zaine is the perfect damaged anti-hero, a man wanting to be more than how he sees himself, a man who would make the ultimate sacrifice to save an innocent child, but with him comes danger, dark and deadly. Quinn has a streak that screams bring it and I wasn’t sure she realized it at first! DANGEROUSLY DARK pits two souls against the world and forces them to fight to survive and the tension is razor sharp!

Ms. Burright has created an atmosphere of mystery and romantic attraction that screams trouble, dares these two to take a chance on love before it is too late. Toss in a young innocent pawn in peril and there was no way I could put this down! Dark paranormal fantasy and romance at its tantalizing best, no cookie cutter reading here!

Naughtiness 3.5 stars

Wow definitely does not do this book justice, I'm utterly loving this series and cannot wait for the next, though they can be read as stand alones they do tell a bigger story read together

As always I never gives spoilers but what I can say this book while as dark as it's sister books is very awesome and an awesome adventure, definitely not fluffy romance but very hard earned love most definitely. Therefore they are stronger, sometimes the stubborn ones don't always realise this but come to realise two can definitely do better together than alone.

Not your every day supernatural story but in a league of its own I've never read anything like these story's characters before but then there are millions of books out there yet to read but I truly adore this series very much.

Thank you C J for writing it and the privalage of reading itxxx

I Give this Book 3 Stars

This book sounded great, but it's apparent that if you haven't read the other books you’ll have no freaking clue on what going on, that definitely caught me off guard. Honestly I didn't get the hype over this book, I found it quite boring sadly, I was never put on the edge of my seat at any point in this book and the sex scenes were tame.
Would I read more from this author? Probably - most likely not.

The Dreamcasters are back and this time we get Quinn and Zaire. Zaire had now run out of time. Before he was forever gone he wanted to do one things. Save the life of his nephew and maybe just maybe see the one female that could have save him. He was at his last and then the dream came true. Quinn. The dream that he had for so many long gone years. The darkness, danger, desire carries on the series direction. There was action, drama, dreams, mystery. There’s beauty in the darkness for both Zaire and Quinn. It just maybe the nightmares that save Quinn’s sanity.

Quinn was on seclusion from all that life had thrown her way. She never expected her nightmares to follow her. Quinn may or may not bet the answer to all that Zaire had struggled with. She was however the dream he had and was now getting the opportunity to see once again. Zaire was no hero, but he wanted to save the child. To do so he would need to learn to work with Quinn. Together they both learn to trust, heal, love, survive. Because there were more than just nightmares that went bump in the night.

C.J. Burright has done a great job with this latest addition to the Dreamcaster series. The darkness, danger, dreams, desire that rose throughout the read was worth the wait for it to be released.

CJ has once again created a wonderful story. Zaire and Quinn seem to keep being pulled apart, making the reader want them to overcome the odds to find each other again.

Amaaaaaaaazing rollercoaster ride… What do you mean I have to disembark????????

Hold on. *pant pant* Let me catch my breath…

Okay, I have been very lucky in the last twenty-four hours. I’ve read two of the best books so far in 2018. But Dangerously Dark is definitely my favorite so far. I could not read it continuously as I had to come up for air and to calm down. I don’t get a chance to read decent paranormal novels, especially well-written ones, and I must say C.J. Burright did a magnificent job. This isn’t first in a series, but even though it technically isn’t a stand-alone, it didn’t take too long to get acquainted with this universe. And talk about a brand new idea — playing around with the dreamworld. I’ve been a hardcore lucid dreamer for years, so this really hooked me quickly and only expanded this new universe chapter by chapter.

Length: A REAL novel.

Angst: Plenty for the emotionally hurt-and-comfort fan. (You know who you are.)

Speed of Action: Very appropriate. No speed-ups or hurry-ups. All I can say is that it kept going and going and going… I was afraid there might be “bonus” material. Hell, no! Good for you, C.J.!!

Predictability: Well, OBVIOUSLY you know there’s going to be a happy ending… sort of. But everything in the middle was surprisingly refreshing with twists and turns, no deus ex machinas, no cop-outs, and plenty of sexual tension.

Credibility issues: One of the advantages of playing with Dreamtime is that you’re only limited by your imagination. C.J. did do a good job in making it credible rather than unbelievable. My suspension of disbelief never failed throughout the tale which says something. Or maybe her idea of Dreamtime is eerily a lot like mine. *shudder* I like an author who understands the need for balance in the cosmos. Not everyone can be good or evil. Even within us, there is a balance of nice and not-nice.

Grammatical and spelling errors: I didn’t find any obvious ones. Editorial brain was on an all-time high!!!!! OMG! Two novels in a row! It wasn’t sure how to react. This separates the excellent writers from the wannabes. And how? Accepting the fact that a second opinion can make the difference. (I still don’t understand why so many writers don’t want to do this. If you were in the intensive care unit, would you argue AGAINST getting a second opinion? Geez!)

Sexuality: This isn’t erotica. Yes, there’s some at the end, but more symbolic than explicit. But this isn’t a work of erotica. Yes, it’s a strange, twisted paranormal romance, but I don’t need porn to make me happy and satisfied at the end of this tale.

Buy this book! I’m going back to Amazon and finding out more from this writer because the time I spent reading this book was definitely worth it! And I WILL read it against at least one more time, if not two.

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest, no-punches pulled review.

I just dove right into this series at book 3 and was blown away! Immediately upon finishing this book, I added the rest of the books in the series to me “to-read” list. This world was just filled with so much quirky goodness – how could I not? I want to know each and every story leading up to this one!

So, this story was Quinn’s tale. She’s always known she was different, plagued with nightmares and infatuated with a boy who once protected her in her dreams. That might sound strange to anyone but Quinn, but it’s her world and her life that is shaped around these beliefs. On one of her “alone time” vacations in a secluded cabin, she gets the strangest visitor – a grown-up version of the boy from her dreams. Yes, he tries to kill her. Yes, he’s covered in blood. No, that doesn’t stop her at all from cleaning him up and giving him shelter. She’s not completely an idiot so there are restraints involved, but Quinn trusts her very strange gut and it doesn’t lead her astray.

Zaire is a member of a divided race. There’s the good-ish guys and the bad guys and while he seems like the type of guy who should be wearing a white-ish hat, the kidnapping of his only living relative has had him working for the baddies for a little while now. Some decisions he made when he was spending time with his young nephew are coming back to bite him now, though. It seems that creatures who survive off other people’s nightmares shouldn’t starve themselves. The consequences essentially give him a death sentence unless there is a miracle out there. Said miracle exists in the form of Quinn, his matched dreamcaster.

These two lit up the pages with their stubborn, frustrating, sexual chemistry. While Quinn appears more than willing to take the plunge, Zaire is very busy playing the martyr. There is a lot of action and some truly strange visitors that end up changing their minds in the end. We get a really great HEA that just made me love this book even more. As I said, I’m going to quickly dive back into the previous books to see what wonderful tales I missed along the way.

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?

This series just gets better and better. This time we see things mostly from the perspectives of Zaire and Quinn, though we do get glimpses from other characters from time to time. These different views really helped to build the situation and what was going on. Zaire has had a horrific life. Granted he has also done a lot of horrific things. Quinn was unique. She has used her dreams to strengthen herself it seems. She is a survivor. So, when Zaire disappeared from her dreams, she learned to fight them herself. I loved her strength. I also love when they showed their vulnerabilities too. Characters like these are what makes fiction believable. I love it. The romantic tension is palpable. You don't know if they're going to rip each other's throats out or rip each other's clothes off. Add in the horror and mystery that always surrounds the world of the V’alkara, and this is completely impossible to stop reading. The whole Dreamcaster Series story line is pretty ingenious. Each book blows me away. I can't get enough.

Zaire is the Prince of Purgatory, a V’alkara, a creature of nightmare and shadow. He’s sexy and terrifying. a lost hero, who despite a horrid childhood, is capable of loyalty, kindness and great love. He protects those he cares about and will do anything to keep them safe…and being safe means being far away from him.

He knows he trouble, which is why he doesn’t want to get involved with Quinn. Luckily, she’s fabulously stubborn. When they were both children lost in the dark, he kept nightmares from consuming her. She remembers and still glimpses the goodness he hides from all, even himself, so when a blizzard traps her in her family’s mountain cabin and a wounded Zaire stumbles across her porch, she opens the door to him and the terror on his heels.

What happens next is a suspenseful blending of two flawed hearts with sorcery and dreamscapes. My only problem with this tale was that it kept me from sleep as I had to read on to find out what would happen next.

If you like strong heroines who won’t stop until they’ve saved their hot but tortured heroes, you’ll love this magical romance.

This was an interesting read. Definitely a unique kind of paranormal. There's somewhat of a one sided relationship between V'alkara and the dreamcatcher. All V'alkaras are male and all dreamcatchers are female. The V'alkara feeds off of a dreamcatchers nightmares in order to survive. Quinn finally comes face to face with the man who has been in her dreams since childhood, Zaire. He's on a mission and is being blackmailed by the Crows. Quinn does everything she can to help him. Quinn is stubborn and sarcastic. Zaire is rigid and dangerous, but protective over Quinn. There's a lot of desire and tension between the 2. There are moments where the book drags on for a bit. Not a bad read and I like the idea of the V'alkara and dreamcatcher, nice world building.

I had so much fun reading this book! From the beginning I wasn’t sure where the author was going to take me on this fight for life and love. The use of a fork was unexpected, the way the author took me outside of the box that most books keep me in was excellent. The ending was so good! I am looking forward to reading more books by this author, my tbr pile just got larger!!!

I'm not ready to count this book out yet. I didn't like the characters so I really didn't care what happened to them. I think I would feel differently if I had read the books before this one. The author needs to work on recapping in a manner that doesn't waste the readers time but also makes me want to read the previous books.

I was given an ARC for my honest review.

Dangerously Dark is a wonderful addition to this awesome series! Zaire is deliciously wounded and tragic and brooding and Quinn is the strong, independent, take-no-prisoners heroine he needs to bring light to his shadows. The author's lush, evocative writing style is a pleasure to read and the action-packed plot will keep you turning pages well into the night and beyond. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for Dangerously Dark!!!

Dargerously dark has its highs and lows. The plus is that I understood what was going on even though I hadn't read the other two books in the saga. Other added point is the relentless plot, always alive, always changing.
The thing I liked the least? Well there were some aspects to the characters that didn't really make them believable. At least not completely.
Major plus: hot dangerously dark guy. Need I say more?

Dangerously Dark is the third book in The Dreamcaster series, and I would recommend you read the first two books before this one. Although we don't hear from the 'older' characters until the latter part of the book, you will still need to have some idea about the V'alkara to gain the most enjoyment from it.

So, that being said, let's start. We have Zaire, who popped up in Ella and Dax's book. We found out he was 'helping' the Red Crows but only because he had to. In this book, we learn more about Zaire's history, and why he feels unworthy of love, indeed, he fears it. As for Quinn, we don't find out much about her past as a 'normal' person, but as a Dreamcaster, she rocks! She is tough, having fought her way through too many demons to count. She takes her knocks and rolls with them. She sets her sights on Zaire (through their connected past), and won't let him go. Just what the stubborn-ass V'alkara needs.

For me, this was the best of the bunch so far. I don't know if it's because I know their world now, The Faction, the Red Crows, the V'alkara, or maybe it was just Zaire and Quinn. Whatever the reason, I was completely committed to this book from the very beginning.

Full of action, and yet with a smooth and flowing pace, this book is full of brilliant characters and situations. Our tortured hero is dark enough to be fully rounded, whilst our sassy heroine sparks off him and keeps things interesting. With no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, I thoroughly enjoyed their story. I am really hoping Mel and Izzy get a story, and it won't be too long in coming! Absolutely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
