Silva: End of a Rock and Roll Love Story

Rate this book
Life isn't easy for a rock star. But loving one is downright harrowing. Especially when you’ve got an unwelcome surprise for him that's best kept hidden.

Silva’s album is bulleting up the charts. Thanks to Ava, Bran has made peace with his past. But what’s left for a rock star to get when he has everything he ever wanted? How about a kick in the gut and a few things he doesn’t want—like a seriously obsessed fan, a full-frontal body slam from that tragic past he thought he’d wrangled, and then there’s the one thing, the only thing—that just might make him implode after all.

Silva, the Siren's Wave sequel contains strong language, steamy scenes, and Australian-English spelling.

Silva, follow on from siren's Wave. J.A. Hazel

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance

If you enjoyed Siren's Wave there's a free sequel written for us folk who wanted more ;-) Just go to https://jahazel.com/bran-ava-the-fina... and follow the links. Its not on general sale so you won't find it at the usual retailers.
I reread Siren's Wave before reading Silva, its got so much detail and is very different to most of whats out, ( in a good way - so much is cut-n-paste it feels like, change the names but the story is the same ), so I wanted to remind myself of exactly how they got to where they are now.

I loved the angst, the struggles of Siren's Wave, and in Silva all that is multiplied. Bran and Ava really go through the ringer, its heart-breaking at times.
I was so angry at both of them, wanted to shake them, make them see just what they were in danger of losing, that they were so lucky to have found this precious love with each other, that they needed to treasure it, nurture it.

We've got the same great group of characters as in book one, more of that perfect music/band setting that J A Hazel does so well. And of course Nate's mum Abby's dog Roxy!! a real star ;-)
All that made the story and the characters feel so very real to me. I need novels to feel real, I know they aren't but I want to get lost in the story, feel as if I'm there with characters, feeling as they feel, worry when they're unhappy, share their joy when things come right. There's a great insight into the characters here, what motivates them, how our pasts affect us, and how strongly we can feel about things even when our heads are telling us we're not being logical.

I loved this story, plenty of angst, and the "down" part, the part which has me thinking "can they get through this?"  was kept  drawn out over many chapters, which is perfect for me.
I love the sad bits, makes the HEA so much better ;-) yet for so many stories that happens over just a few pages, and for me I need the characters to really hit bottom. Here they do, and even though I know things will come right I was so sad for them when they were in the midst of it all.
Stars: Five, great read, incredibly moving follow up.

I love going back to those characters I already know, and I absolutely love getting into their mess all over again. And things do get messy. I mean, there is no happily ever after, because we do make mistakes. It's the way we handle them that matters. And "Silva" goes deep into unraveling these choices, which makes the story not just a perfect ending to the first part, but also a strong message on its own.
Like every love story, Bran and Ava's one is about learning to trust each other. And let me warn you, it's not easy. Because it never is, when you decide to jump in after a whirlwind of emotions.
Another thing that is great about "Silva" is the fact that we are back with exactly the same people. Nothing is out of character, and all the words or decisions are exactly what you'd expect from these guys.
However, there is a part in all of us that loves seeing these guys work out their inner stuff. I have a favorite chapter in this book, which is closer to the end. For me it was the deepest, most heartfelt moment, where everything is handled so gracefully. So I encourage all of you fans of "Siren's Wave" to read it. And all of you other guys, go pick up SW and Silva, because they worth it, they leave you with food for thought.

This book is not a standalone, book 1 "Siren's Wave" must be read first. Although Bran and Ava are together at the beginning of this book, their relationship takes a nose dive when Ava hears that Bran has been unfaithful to her while out on tour ... which is totally fabricated by an obsessive fan. Ava runs from Bran not only for that reason, but she is also pregnant and Bran has told her many times that he doesn't want kids and if she does, she should plan to be a single parent. I don't want to say any more to spoil the ending for others.

Your heart will break for not only Ava but Bran as well. Even though there were times that I wanted to tell him to get his head out of his a$$. And then Ava ... at times I just wanted to give her a good shake and tell her to move on! But isn't that the sign of a good book when you get so emotionally involved. The only negative is that at times I found the wording awkward ... but that could be because of the Aussie slang.

I graciously received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for a honest review.

This was all over the place. Heroine, who’s character had been developed rather nicely, had to do a complete about-face ( which just didn’t jibe with who she’d laid down to be) in order for the plot to move along. Hate when that happens, happened in book one too. Sloppy. And what makes it worse is that the plot throughout the middle part of the book became totally implausible. Hate when THaT happens. Hazel pulled it back and the end (again, book 1?Same) and the story became readable again.

All in all this series had amazing potential. The author writes well, until she loses control. The characters were well developed and believable, until they weren’t. I laughed in the right places, and rolled my eyes at the wrong ones.

This book is a wobbly 2* pulling book 1 rating down and giving the total series a rating of 2.5*

Thank you to the author for my copy that I won in a competition.

It was nice to come back to the characters after reading Sirens Wave. The band are now successful, touring and recognised everywhere they go. Bran and Ava are still together but have a new set of problems to deal with. Still raunchy and plenty of love, but not full of sickly sweet romance, this book is a good read. I found it quite different from the first book as now they are a couple and there aren't any blurred lines in regards to their feelings. Some of the book is set in Australia and some in America so it keeps it interesting. There is a cheat sheet at the back of the book if you need to try and keep up with the characters.
