We watched the movie after I found the book on Hoopla. The movie/documentary was better than I expected with amazing videos of Bethany's journey starting with the shark attack and then rolling forward detailing her unbelievable journey to be competitive again in surfing. The book would be much better if it was a hardback, but it gives you a synopsis of the movie with her story and some of the same photos that relate to the videos in the movie. Truly an amazing world-class athlete that shows the way for people to adapt to their supposed limitations and give the glory to Jesus along the way with her supportive husband, family and team.

Wonderful photography and strong dialogue tell an incredible story of a young woman determined to be a champion surfer. The loss of an arm in a shark attack was a setback but with perseverance she has achieved her goals . The motivational dialogue on each page with the photographs inspires readers "to be bold, enjoy life, and be the best they can". Her strong faith shines through the script and the inclusion of biblical verses adds a strength to the story.
This is an exciting book to inspire young people to work hard to achieve their goals and I would thoroughly recommend it .

The movie related to this book might very well be amazing, but the book is just Okay. A few highly inspirational and wise quotations, mixed with many others. A few stunning photos, but not quite enough for a book.

Bethany’s story seems truly amazing, and I wish the book told more of it… Without context from somewhere else, I don’t have very much just here. If you are deep in the Christian faith, this book may speak to you more. I’ve been to a few of the places the book visits, and I feel much potential for beauty and drama was left on the table.

What a great book! This book encourages young women to get back on their feet and learn how to surf again! This book is a sensation for the surfing soul! I would recommend this book to others anytime. This book also inspires others to surf w confidence. Inside their are inspirational quotes and I even got the book cover signed!! Omg I love this book!
