The Lion, the Witch, and the Ward

Rate this book
Master assassin Leo Falkroy is a dangerous man. With a sword in his hand, he is second to none. He leads a life of rigorous discipline, leaving nothing to chance and ensuring that everything in his domain is firmly under control.

The last thing Leo expects is to have a painfully shy peasant girl named Kelsie thrust into his life by his on-again, off-again lover, sorceress Lady Victoria Varys. Ferociously independent, and utterly unrepentant, there is no woman more deserving of a whipping than Lady Victoria - and no woman less likely to take one.

Suddenly responsible for Kelsie's well being, Leo finds himself at a loss. A man made for battle has little idea what to do with a vulnerable young lady too frightened to make eye contact.

It soon turns out that Lady Varys has bought more than the waif with her - she has invited trouble of the royal variety. Thanks to Victoria, a prince is missing, as are scores of village girls. As Leo assists in the search, he and the all too arrogant sorceress find their passions smoldering with equal parts antagonism and desire - until Victoria's reckless temper pushes him to teach her a stern lesson that has been a very long time coming.

Meanwhile, chaste Kelsie of Kinleigh is quickly beginning to come into her own, attracting young suitors of the less than desirable kind. Kelsie needs a firm hand, and as forces of fate begin to overwhelm her, Leo and Victoria must either unite to save their charge from an entity determined to strip her of her innocence, or lose her to a dark destiny.

Book Title Change: "The Ward of Falkroy"

Mesmerizing Tale!

Fans of Loki Renard will undoubtedly recognize her fantastic writing and be unquestionably thrilled by this mesmerizing tale. “The Ward of Falkroy” is set in an imaginative world of fantasy featuring sorcery, demons, assassins and an apprentice, all within the domain of the Seven Kingdoms. The story unfolds with a richly woven narrative, excellent world-building and awe-inspiring characterizations. Lord Falkroy is a hero to die for with the patience of a saint, Kelsie totally adorable even when she isn’t and Victoria… well, she is simply Victoria. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter, bickering and overall antics of all three lead characters. The ending is more than satisfactory (HFN) but leaves the reader wanting so much more. I certainly hope the story continues with more heat and whatever it is I sense that might be building between a certain assassin and his ward. Anyone know how to do away with a witch and keep her heart beating? If you do give me a call…

It is worth noting “The Ward of Falkroy” focuses primarily on the characters and their experiences. The discipline and sexual interactions are consistent with the story setting and not overly descriptive.

I am a Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe fan but if you are looking for any Narnia similarities or references - you will not find them here. I am also a Loki Renard fan and have read many of her books. You will find this book a little different from from her other books. There is some sex and some punishment spankings but very little, as this fantasy story actually spends a lot of time telling the story and not describing sex scenes (I tend to skip over sex scenes anyways).

With that being said -

I really enjoyed this book and I am so hoping that the author writes a sequel (or two or three). The world building is good but the interactions between the main characters are what draw you into the story. Sorceresses, assassins, satyrs, kings, queens, demons, witches (never mistake a sorceress for a witch), and angry torch wielding mobs are all intertwined into an engrossing story of a Sorceress that finally finds her apprentice (it's an obligation and not a desire). The backstory on Leo and Victoria was short but it pulled together their whole on-again off-again history. These two totally different people come together to guide Kelsie and help her learn to use and control her power. The story has a decent ending point but the little short story included (which in my opinion should have just been labeled an epilogue), gave me the added extra to brought this story to a great ending and opened it for a sequel.

The author actually sent me a review copy but I had already purchased it and I was definitely NOT disappointed in my purchase.

Overall, it's a great fantasy story with a touch of romance and a dash of spanking.

I give it 5 but....

It wasn't my favorite by any means but... It was still a dern good read I loved Victoria and Lord Falkroy but it just didn't meet my expectations I guess but I would say it's definitely worth checking out because I know you will enjoy it...okay when I read the description it says the book is about 18 year old Kelsie and Lord Falkroy has to keep her and her mistress Sorceress Victoria safe well most of her books that I've read a lot of them have been about 18 year old girls and they usually end up having lots of intimate scenes...but this book had none of that Victoria travels to another city when she is notified that there is a sorceress living there it is her duty to bring home any possible sorceress and train them in their ways. When she gets there she finds Kelsie who is a half starved girl that has lived among pigs all her life she's dirty and yet she's smart enough to know some things so Victoria takes her under her wing and they start to travel back home when Victoria's troubles catch up to her. The king and queen want her head because she turned the Prince into a goat man, so now she has to take time out of her busy schedule to track down the Randy goat man, find him, and send him home. With the help of Lord Falkroy they set off on their journey but demons, pitch fork toting village people, have a way of messing things up for them. So anyways that's my short run down of the story Lord Falkroy doesn't fall for the young girl like I thought he would his heart belongs to the sassy sorceress and Kelsie becomes somewhat if a daughter to them it was really sweet and that Victoria she was kind of a hoot.

Three Is A Crowd💃👩🐺

This book📑 was interesting, but it seemed all the way through, that three was a crowd.
There are three main characters, a beautiful but cold sorceress💃, her assassin🔪 on and off boy friend, and a young woman👩 found in a poor village, that has the gift, but is totally untrained.

All The way through the book I waited for the Assassin, Leo Falkroy🐺🍆🌋🔪👋, to put the XXX moves on the apprentice, Kelsie👩. The trained Sorceress, Victoria💃, has a terrible temper problem which she has never overcome, even though she is 100 years old. Her character was not likeable for me.

Leo🐺🍆🌋🔪 is a bad boy spankster👋 sex toy! He's a very naughty😈 man! He's a binder, too.

I love💕 this author, but I'm not really a fan of paranormal 📚books or ones with witches, magic, etc, and don't normally read them. However, this book was a fast paced read with lots of action throughout.
Demons👹, goatmen, bad boy soldiers, sword fights🔪, and more populate this imaginary middle ages type 🌎world.
This book is definitely XXX adults only 📚reading!
Recommend for lovers of this genre!
The book ends in kind of a cliffhanger

I absolutely loved this story. What a fun romp through the worlds of mortals and sorcery. I liked how Kelsie became stronger throughout the story. Of course with Victoria and Leo she really needed to come into her own. The story had lovely twists and turns that really engaged me as a reader. Hoping for more in this world.
