This is one of those books I bought on a whim. I got my copy on Filbar's, the cover and the title caught my attention, and it was the only one left. I really liked it, stories were realistic and direct, I'd recommend it to some of my friends.
This a collection of comics about the people around us. I absolutely loved this. Everything about this felt so real. The stories Mikey and Mikey has created were beautiful. I can't wait to read more from them in the future. This was the best 199 pesos I ever spent!
"Sandali" by Mikey Jimenez and Mikey Marchan was the kind of book that I could reread for several times and would still love the same.
The title of this book was simply perfect; it was able to capture the entirety of the book in just one word. Initially, the book cover was not as eye-catching, but that changed after I took the time to actually look at it. I found out that every illustration was relevant. In addition, the blurb of this book was one of the best blurbs that I have ever read. I could not not read the book after having had read that.
As for the content, what I admired most about this was the representation. It captured the true nature of human beings; there were no fabrications or exaggerations. Nothing was sugar-coated; the flaws and realities of human beings were transported inside of this book. There was no pretentiousness or fear with how human beings were written. This book saw humans as they truly were. In other words, it was honest.
The illustrations fit the stories flawlessly. The illustrations belonged to the stories, as much as the characters belong to the physical appearances that their illustrator had given to them. Every scene and every character was drawn like they were real - like they had life in them. Perhaps the only recommendation that I could offer would be the addition of a blank page before starting a new story, in order to avoid confusion as to where one story ends and another begins.
Favorite Stories:"Attachment.jpg" and "May Bababa".
I fell in love with this book. The only reason for me giving it 4.75/5 stars instead of 5/5 stars was that some of the stories did not hit me as much as "Attachment.jpg" and "May Bababa" did. But despite having had said that, I still loved this book. I did not dislike any story, since every story made sense; every story felt real. It felt human.
Okay naman. Simple lang. Parang short indie films.

Pwede namang bawasan 'to para di masakit sa mata, ta's gawing texturized to some degree para di boring tignan.

Salamat Anino comics! At siyempre kina Marchan at Jimenez. Saludo ako sa inyo.
The stories in this book feel so familiar and uncomfortably close to home that they're hard to look at. Everything is tinged with an air of wistfulness and melancholy. The dialogue feels real.
The strength of the book lies in just how it seemingly effortlessly portrays my reality. This book speaks my language and remembers what I remember. It eats at my table and talks to my friends. It lives in my neighborhood and it works my job. It sees what I see and knows what I know.
It's not the common fantastical escapism or exaggerated drama of most popular Filipino media. And it does not speak with the honest but distant voice of the academic or author of decades past, nor of the impenetrable artist. It speaks with the voice of my sister, my friend, my coworker, or my neighbor.
Short comics that everyone can relate to! My favorite was "Present," because it reminded me of my 6-year stint in night shift at an Ortigas-based outsourcing company. Staying at a company for that long, I experienced getting close with officemates, and then seeing them (and finally me) leave as we move on to greener pastures. I remained close with some of them in the next ten years, but ten years is long enough for people to grow and change.
Ugh now I miss them. We were kinda lucky though that we were able to set up a mini-reunion/Christmas party last December 2019, before the world went to shits. We're going to have to set up another mini-reunion after this pandemic, maybe even travel together again.
Found this gem out of pure curiosity with the cover. With characters ripped out of reality, Sandali is a fierce, hard look at how everything happens to everyone nowadays in the most unceremonious way. Eerily relatable, its as if Mikey and Mikey chose random stories right out of their FB feeds, laid out the parodical artwork and highlighted the judgmental, depressed, skewed perspective of ordinary urbanites in Metro Ma
Sandali is a comic written by Mikey Jimenez and illustrated by Mikey Marchan is a Filipino graphic novel that depicts the stories about various people around us. The strangers at the jeepney, inside the mall, etc. This graphic novel is straightforward and poignant. It doesn't sugar-coated the story. The stories presented in this graphic novel are realistic and relevant. I can't wait to read more stories like this!
Sandali tells about simple moment/s of everyone. Nakakarelate ako in some of the stories: during highschool years; moments in the office; and also the unexpected eavesdropping in some crowded places. And even the jeepney experience. Sino ba naman wala nun. There are still lots of Sandali that need to be shared and thanks to this book that some of them are now being read.

Very excited when I picked this up. Emotions evoked when reading this comics hits differently from foreign authors since it's much more relatable. I still keep thinking about "May Bababa" and "Present". Honestly, this is my first Filipino comics and was quite happy to see how Filipinos are drawn.
Thank you for this wonderful piece. I'm cheering for you Mikey and Mikey :)
At sana magkaroon pa ng maraming volumes and “Sandali.”
The illustrations are breathtaking! I like how the stories are our everyday lives and some inside jokes that other Pinoy's will get. My favorites are Trash Story, Christmas Blend and Cosplaya Hata💛 Can't wait to see more of the stuff you guys will make
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”
as usual, Filipino graphic novels like this are always one of kind bcos of it's artistic and sentimental value. the brevity of the stories create an impact nga makahuna-huna nalang jd ka'g lalom pagkahuman nimo'g basa hahahaha. nice!!!!! <333 :D
I love this comics so much!! 🥺💗 it's my first ever Filipino comics copy and I bought it last September during the Big Bad Wolf in SM Seaside Cebu. The storyline and the illustration? Chef's kiss 🤌🏻 will definitely read this again
Short slice of life stories that made me think. The stories, though short, have impact and depth. The art is simple but enough to convey the emotions of the characters. I also like how some of the stories are connected.
