Extraordinarily detailed and illustrated introduction to the basics of all the sciences, including physics, chemistry, all of the biological and earth sciences, human anatomy, astronomy, electricity, mathematics......whew!

This compact volume contains so much information and so well represented (it is a DK book after all) I daresay you could get a start on recreating each field with it were civilization to collapse all of a sudden.

I read somewhere that DK book only scratch the surface of the subjects that they represent, but don't take that to mean this is simple reading - a lot of this stuff was completely over my head, but provides reference points to kick off from if one is in the mood to delve further.

As always with DK - highly recommended.
