Omgoodness, this book was so frustrating for me. I wanted to slap some sense into Zina. I couldn't understand for the life of me why she ran back into the arms of Drew. Every single time she ran back, he would do harm to her, and yet for some reason she expected different results from him. I don't know much about physical, mental, and emotion abuse, but it was so disappointing in how much control Drew had over Zina. The best thing that ever happened to Zina was Ziari, but she would break his heart, for Drew, who constantly broke her heart. It definitely was a vicious, dangerous cycle. Zina had so many expectations when it came to Ziari, Sam, and Lyric, but because she had history with Drew, and Drew had a hold on her, she took everything that Drew gave her.... irritating to say the least.
Ziari was just as frustrating to me as Zina was. I loved how much he loved Zina, however, Kesha made me want to kill her myself. You can't make a man want you. You can't make a man love you. You can't throw yourself on a man. She didn't have to guess how Ziari felt about her, he told her, and it's like she couldn't comprehend what Ziari would tell her. She held him down, but once he showed her that Zina was indeed who he wanted, Kesha should have had more respect for herself, and cut all ties with Ziari. Yes Ziari gave Kesha mixed signals, and it wasn't right, but Kesha allowed it. A man will only do what you allow him to do. Ziari had a weak spot for Kesha, and he was in denial, because when it came to her being handled by Sam, Ziari said no, and that backfired on him in the worst way.
