After her recent divorce, a new relationship is the last thing on Sadona Lassiter’s mind. Who needs the complication? Unfortunately, Mount Pleasance, North Carolina’s handsome veterinarian is starting to grow on her. A huge complication. She can’t deny her attraction to Keith Fremont, but is she ready to risk her heart again?
…piece by delicate piece.
Keith’s content with his mundane life—all work and no play—until Sadona strolls into his practice with an injured dog. Captivated by the beautiful woman, he’s determined to get to know her. And he does. But will he allow a devastating betrayal in his past to keep him from securing a future with the woman he loves?
By day, Joy Avery works as an engagement manager. By night, the North Carolina native travels to imaginary worlds—creating characters whose romantic journeys invariably end happily ever after.
Since she was a young girl growing up in Garner, Joy knew she wanted to write. Stumbling onto romance novels, she discovered her passion for love stories; instantly, she knew these were the type stories she wanted to pen.
Real characters. Real journeys. Real good love is what you’ll find in a Joy Avery romance.
ALWAYS can be read as a stand alone, but I strongly suggest that you read the entire series. Although this story features the last Lassiter sister, there will be more stories, according to the author, set in Mt. Pleasance, North Carolina. I enjoyed this novella, and I recommend it. It’s a fast read, but the characters and storyline are well developed.
I really enjoyed this book. All the sisters found true love and that’s very rare nowadays. Like they say if it’s meant to be then it will work if not chalk it up to me experience. I really liked these books in this series my first time reading these type of books and I must say this author did a hella of a job in my book. I will definitely read more of her work....
The oldest Lassiter sister finally gets her HEA. When we were introduced to Gadiya, Rana and Sadona Lassiter, the sisters were not looking for love. Sadona was dealing with the decision of whether or not to end her marriage. Throughout Gadiya and Rana’s stories, we were privy to what was going on with Sadona. Always starts with Sadona being divorced and starting her own business. One of the things that she regrets doing is letting her ex, Alec, convince her to forgo her dreams and basically put her life on hold while she supported his.
Thanks to a stray dog that immediately captured Sadona’s heart (and almost became close friends with the front bumper of her car), Sadona meets sexy vet Keith Fremont. Keith isn’t looking for love or a relationship. He was burned bad by his ex and has not (or refuses) to recover. When Sadona walks into his practice, there’s immediate attraction on both sides. But the two are weary of putting their hearts on the line.
What I really enjoyed about Always is that the main characters are grown ass people! Sadona is 42 years old and Keith is 45. Heyyyyyy!!!!!! Keith is established with his veterinarian practice. Sadona is starting over but she’s not a 20 something who’s trying to figure out who she wants to be. Sadona knows who she is; she just had to put it in rice while she was married to her selfish, cheating ex-husband. I love that when Keith and Sadona give in to the attraction and attempt to have a relationship, they agree that they’re going to be 100% honest with each other. There will be no saying one thing but meaning something else. Or playing games. Grown people having grown conversations and dealing with it like adults. Hallelujah!
Of course nothing is going to be 100% easy or perfect. I loved revisiting the other two Lassiter sisters. Gadiya is hilarious, if a bit dramatic, going through her pregnancy. One of my favorite scenes in Always was when Gadiya has a her own Charlotte moment. *Anyone who has seen the Sex and the City movie and remembers the scene where Charlotte sees Mr Big and confronts him…y’all know what I’m talking about*
I found the conflict to be predictable but I didn’t expect Keith to be the asshole that he was towards Sadona. I was ready to cut him off and say that there needs to be a Part 2 for Sadona where she finds a man who deserves her! In the words of the wise Gadiya:
“You, sir, are an asshole.” Always was a nice ending to the Lassiter Sisters series. The characters in Always are around my age and I related to them the most. I loved the portrayal of black romance, black love and the black family. And of course, sisterhood. I hope that we get to see these characters again…maybe when Craven finally meets his Queen to Be *hint, hint*.
Keith and Sadona were both recovering from deep hurts from their past. Which caused them both to be on the defense. The fact that a stray dog brought them together was the cutest thing ever.
The issues with Keith and Sadona were many but the biggest in my opinion was making assumptions about each other. I was always taught that “ to assume makes a ass of you and me.” And these two were a classic example. This was a pleasurable read and I admit I was very pleased with the ending of this story.Assuming this is the end of this series, I was was hoping there would be more information Greenville science he was present in each book , in addition I would have loved to have more insight on Craven, Keith’s friend. With that being said I found the entire series to be really sweet with just enough suspense and romance in each one of the books to want me to continue reading the entire series.
Sedona and Keith had both experience betrayal which manifested I. Having a hard time to trust. Their happenstance meeting gave them an opportunity to open up to each other without the usual dance of meeting someone awkwardly. Their relationship blossomed only to be short circuited by their pasts. Fortunately, once they opened up about how those situations caused mistrust, they were both able to overcome their proclivity to question the depth of their relationship.
Wow! I absolutely adored the journey of each Lassiter sister Gadiya, Rana & finally Sadona 🥰‼️”Always (Lassiter Sisters - Book 3) was an excellent read and my favorite book of this series. Thereafter, I particularly enjoyed Keith & Sadona’s love story because their prior relationship experiences were relatable as well as their reactions plausible. Yet , they survived beyond lies, trauma and or emotional scars inflicted from their respective past …to thrive in their HEA together by “always choosing love” ! BEAUTIFUL 🤩👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿‼️
The Lassiter Sisters third book was a nice story. I liked the good doctor and the third sister. Her husband was a sleazy piece of dodo.. So naturally, I was so happy she found a man to love her with passion. Buddy, the dog, tugged at my heart. I was picturing him with the cutest, most lovable doggy face. Loved this story...
This was a love story about Sadona and Keith. Both were rebounding from failed marriages and against relationships. They first had to overcome fear, doubt and desire which they did because each owned a dog. Because he was a veteran, that broke the ice which led to their happily ever after.
I love these stories. Love happens. It’s alive and well. Sadona and Keith’s journey was lovable. But can we give baby sister Gadiya some props here…her from the heart speech was wonderful. I love how these sisters stick together. Wouldn’t mind catching up with them sometime in the future.
I enjoyed this story. While you can read this one along, definitely read them all. Their meet-cute with the dog. Their romance. I'm never a fan of t he trust being betrayed trope especially if these folks would just communicate. But they got to their HEA.
So i was loving this story until the h big climatic conflict scene. Without spoilers….I have things to pose…. is uber not a thing….lyft? how about taking keys and sleeping in cars. Also, if this was on the other foot the no one would believe or accept what she deemed a solution. I loved everything else. Why did the big problem have to be so ridiculous?
Sadona and Keith's story was just what the doctor ordered. Both of these lovebirds had been burned by love in the past with others but found everlasting love with each other. Pick up this book. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to see what's next.
I love all the Lassiter sisters books. The perfect mix of real life issues and romance. We have to remember love is an emotion and its people that disappoint is not love itself.
Amazing series! This book was so great! But I didn’t read the sex scenes. That’s nasty lol. The characters were my parents age. Yuck! But I’m happy they got their happily ever after. Can’t wait to read more for you! You’re awesome!!
I enjoy Sadona & Keith's story. I Love how love hit them from the start . This series was amazing . the love these men showed and continued to show . read this series you will fall in love from the first page to the end .
You see how the end is going to be but you’re anxiously waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not as good as the other two Lassiter Sisters stories but enjoyable. I read it quickly.
I enjoyed this book so much. Sadona and Keith were a beautiful couple that I couldn’t get enough of. This book was filled with enough heat, tension and just the right amount of angst to keep me on the edge of my seat.
This entire series was A+ and I think you will thoroughly enjoy it.
Great story . The series is a great family story line . I love the way she always tie the family together no matter what the problem is . Love can always conquer any problem.
Reading about these sisters who are best friends, reminded me of mines. Learning to,let go of the past relationships and taking a chance on a new one, I loved It, Ms. Joy did it!
Just like the 2 before this is an awesome love story. The characters are so loveable and the story line flowed perfectly. If you enjoy good old fashioned love then this is one for you.
Even though I read the stories out of order, this was such a great read. I laughed, cried and laughed some more. Another great job from such a great author
