Ashley:
When you’re married, there are the things you can live with… and the things you can’t.

My abusive husband, Harry? He made those distinctions very clear to me.

Constant beatings, a forced a miscarriage, and then roping me in with my father’s notorious biker gang, The Reapers.

Lucky enough, I got out of my marriage in one piece. For the time being, that is. Though it’s only a matter of time before he picks up on my trail.

Thank God for Blackjack.

He swears he’ll kill my no-good husband the second he steps foot in town. That’s sweet and all, sure, but there’s more to him; something about his stare that I can’t get out of my mind. A part of me is desperate to believe I deserve to be loved, deserve someone like Blackjack in my life. Yet, the bruises from my past tell me to never trust another man again.

But Blackjack isn’t like any other man, is he?

Blackjack:

I never expected that I’d have anything or anyone to lose when I enlisted in the army. Then the blonde wild-child of the Montana’s Reapers motorcycle club, Ashley Monroe, showed up and proved that I had a lot more to lose than I thought.

It shouldn’t have been a surprise that by the time I came back home after all these years that she’d up-and-left town and gotten married. Life, after all, continues to move right on along even when you’re not there to watch it go. All the same, I have a two-year-old son to think about now.

And then there’s Ashley. She shows up, beaten and broken from her marriage, and instantly changes everything. I’ve never wanted to kill a man so badly my entire life. Just one look at her and I’m drowning with a desire to take her in my arms and tell her she’ll always be safe with me.

But is there enough strength left in both of us for this second shot at life?

I was intrigued by this blurb and excited to read this book. Unfortunately the actual story let me down some and I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped I would. There were parts that left me confused and needing to know more details, yet those details never came. By the end of the story I still didn't feel a connection between Ashley and Rob/Blackjack, and I actually didn't feel like I even knew either of them at all. I may give this series another try since there were some characters I would actually like to know more about if they get their own book.

A good start to this series . Blackjack and Ashley . They felt something for one another year's ago . But it didn't happen . Now Ashley is back home and not in great condition. The story is good and you get to meet a lot of the clan members . So I can see a good few books in this series .

Warning minor spoilers ahead...

I thought from the first chapter that this one would suck me in but it just did not. An MC Princess that gets an attitude with members, prospect or not, would never fly. Especially when she is showing up for the first time in years and has never even met them before but expects them to treat her like a Queen and know exactly who she is by looking at her.
Ashley's personality changes have me thinking she is Bi-Polar. And her MC President dad sharing club business with her after she shows up after 4 years???
I know many of these romance books are not believable but this one is just one big jumble. An editor is sorely needed to help clean up the roughness in just the first 20% of the book.

Okay biker romance

2.5 stars rounded up
I thought this started out good, I like seeing a woman take control of her life and get away from an awful man. I'm glad Ashley was able to find help with her family and the Reaper club and begin to heal.

The backstop of Ashley and Blackjack was not well developed and we only got a tiny blip of information about them before. I would have liked their story to be fleshed out more than them just jumping into a marriage.

I also thought the drama with Harry and the Bears MC could have had more to it. It was almost a subplot with the romance being first. More action would have made this more enjoyable.

I love when I can find another good MC book and this author gives me what I need. I am not the greatest at writing reviews and as some reviews have stated they dislike the book due to errors and they didn't like the story or something else. I loved this book. I have come across books that I didn't care for and was easily lost but I guess I am someone who can keep up with a story no matter what directions they take. That must be my extreme multi-tasking I do on a daily basis.

I loved this 2nd chance romance with an older guy and a younger girl who have know each other but their lives took a different turn and they were separated for a few years.

Ashley returned home back to her family after her "husband" beat her so badly that she feared if she didn't leave he would kill her. In hearing her husband talking about using her against her father's MC she knew she needed to leave to not only save herself but make sure her real family was safe.

Blackjack left a few years back because he could not control himself when he was around Ashley as she was a lot younger than him so the only way he knew to save himself at the time was to enlist in the military to get as far away as he could. That love he felt for her never faded and it came crashing back to him the night she returned beaten and bruised.

This is a HEA book but sometimes you need to go through trials to find it.

I can't wait to read more of this authors books in the near future.

Blackjack was attracted to Ashley from their first meeting but she was too young and experienced for a man like him so he decides to avoid temptation by enlisting in the military. He has recently come back to his hometown and the MC when Ashley crashes into his life but after all she has experienced she is not the woman he remembered.

Elizabeth was willing to take the punishment her husband was happy to give out but when he threatens her father and the Reapers, the only people she truly cares about, she knows that she must prepare them for what is about to happen.

This story takes you on a action packed adventure filled with suspense, violence and heat as two people who have always belonged together try to find their way back to each other.

This is the first book I have read from this author and let me just say this will NOT be the last. . What an intriguing, consuming book! Oh my…this author surprised me in such a good way.

The beginning was a little slow for me but by the time I got to the end of this book, I was loving it! Some very angsty moments.

“Ashley Monroe married to an abusive man, her husband also happens to be a member of her father’s rival gang. After being badly beaten, Ashley finally finds the courage to flee her unforgiving life

MC storyline that was action packed, suspenseful, entertaining and had biker hotness.

I found the style of writing very atmospheric. I felt like I had stepped into an alternate reality where the real world was just a hand’s reach away,

I loved this story. I think what made this a 5 star book for me was Blackjack . HE IS HOT! There's a real beauty, polish, and purpose to the way the story is unfolding.

I can’t wait to see what is to come with this MC and which of the guys is next!

I've been in a book funk and this book pulled me out. I was hooked from the beginning and devoured the book.

I loved the dynamic between the two characters. He was her savior at a very unpleasant time in her life. And they have loved one another for so long. I loved seeing these two work through their past mistakes with one another.

Now the reason I only gave it 4 stars and not 5... There's quite a few errors within the book which I normally overlook and it didn't hinder my reading but there were handfuls of time that I had to reread things to understand what it was suppose to mean. There's also a few discrepancies with the storyline.. The think they have a mole... But further in the book it's stated like they are just realizing it again.. Also prospects (to my understanding of any and all MC books) are not allowed in church but this prospect was...

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the book and Will read more from this author and this series. Just wasn't able to give it the 5 stars it could potentially deserve with another go through with edits.

Man, this book. I don't know how I feel. I liked it but at the same time was upset that it didn't really didn't do it for me? I SERIOUSLY want to find a good MC series where I just can't help but dive right into the second book and then the third and just whip through them because I love the characters so much! But it seems that is a false hope because I've now started and finished the first book of three MC series and just don't have the desire to finish.

But anywho, this was an okay story. There were definitely high points where I was eager to flip the pages. But then there were times (most of the time) that I just skimmed pages because there was a TON of unnecessary stuff in this book.

Ashley is an MC princess. As a teenager she falls for a man 14 years her senior and naturally at 16 trying to be with a 30 year old that doesn't work. So he runs off to the military and she runs away from the MC and marries an abusive man. Well, this book starts off with one of those abuses (TRIGGER WARNING). She's finally had enough and runs back home to daddy. Naturally her husband is a dick who wants his property back. And that's where your story starts.

Most things about this book were just anticlimactic to me. Even the climax was anticlimactic... It was mostly a second chance love story than it was a gritty MC story. Which I guess is fine. But I wanted this book for the MC story, not what was given. Meh. Ya win some and you lose some.

3 Dishearten Stars

Blackjack is the first book in the Reapers MC Series by Elizabeth Knox. It was my first read from this author and I was very much looking forward to this book. The blurb had me very intrigued and I had high hopes. It didn't hurt that the cover was hot as sin as well. But from the moment I started reading this book I felt I was missing something, I was very confused throughout parts and wanting more details but not getting it. I was left feeling disconnected from the story.

There was very little connection between Ashley and Blackjack, I didn't feel them together at all. The characters were so underdeveloped and had very little spark going on. In the end I felt like it took me a year to read this book!

I might give this series another go in the future because there was some interesting secondary character’s that I would be interested in hearing their story!

Just shows how life can change in an instant. Ashley got her independence only to find she had been played. She managed to get back to her family. Blackjack has managed to save her, not without heartache, but just as everything comes together, fate has one more stunt to pull.

Elizabeth Knox goes dark...and I like it. Poor Ashley can't catch a break with her abusive husband. Running back home to her roots. She falls back into Blackjack's strong arms. Will they finally get the chance to be together or will her husband ruin it all? A dark, twisted MC romance.

Ashley is the Reapers MC princess. She marries Harry and moves away from her MC family. Harry is a piece of crap so when she gets the chance to leave she runs back home.
Things from there get interesting, while she back home she recconnects with Blackjack.
The connection between the two has been their since they were younger.
This book is extreamly well written, it's action packed, the sex scences are hot and most importantly is full of sinfully sexy Alphas!!
Can't wait for the next book in the series.

I thought this book was okay. There were a couple Major issues that I struggle to get past FIRST

SECOND

and

THIRD, I love my outlaw biker romances... they're my guilty pleasure lol, a part of that guilty pleasure is the Alpha male brotherhood that the women love and are loyal to even with the frequent "club business" brush off, so I was repeatedly annoyed with

If these pitfalls had not been present I would have given it a solid "liked it" 3 stars. But as is...

Had a potential, beginning was definitely different. Unfortunately the whole thing was let down by not so good writing. Not terrible; gawd, I came across too many of those recently, but it lacked skill and finesse. It starts nowhere, with no info about anything and then everything gets drip fed in attempt to create tension & drama. Extremely annoying.
Not going to continue with this series.

This book was so good! Ashley gets beaten by her abusive husband and she has to run to her father who is prez of an MC . There she sees her first love, Blackjack. He’s 14 years older and when Ashley was 16 he had to leave town to stay away from her . I understand why he left when she was so young but it was so sad that she was married to an abuser for 4 years . I liked Ashley and Blackjack was so awesome. Ashley’s father was the kind of father that every girl wants so I’m not sure why she wanted away from that life . These guys didn’t even look at other women and I love that kind of MC member . You don’t find them often . Blackjack was a single parent of a 9 year old boy and I wish we could have seen more of Dex.That being said I listened to this on audiobook in one sitting. I will definitely continue this series .

This would deserve a higher rating, but the number of spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, tense changes (even within the same sentence), and just overall repeating exposition nightmares made it a difficult read. It almost felt like the author opened a thesaurus to come up with description words, not bothering to double check if they actually made sense with what they were describing. Saying that blood on a man's forehead was "corrosive" makes no sense.
I was really hoping for this to be a great book to start out a great series to fill the void that Sons of Anarchy left, but it just left me disappointed. Definitely do not recommend unless you like being confused and having the same thing described multiple times in a row in the exact same way.

Not the worst

The characters were one dimensional. The characters had a personality but if they were funny that was it. There was no back story, there was no soft side, no tough side, nothing.
There was no chemistry between the main characters. They were barely in the same building together let alone talking to each other. There was no romance. Don't even get me going on how they finally started their relationship.
Plot definitely has potential. The whole book has potential but it is like the author only wrote filler with just enough plot to make it a book.
I gave it 2 stars because it wasn't the worse thing I ever read and it had potential. Plus the "club whores" were only talked about in passing. Anymore and I would have deleted the book.

Ashley is a strong woman, but her husband found a way to bring her down. His abusiveness almost ended her, and Ashley's only choice was to escape. Now she is back home healing with her father and the MC family. Blackjack was one of the MC brothers that Ashley had an interest in as a teenager. He left to enter the army to coverup his feelings for someone who was way too young for him. Now that she is back home, can there be a chance for them to finally have a happily ever after and can he keep Ashley safe from her ex-husband? Although the story is a good one there are areas that could have been better developed as well as grammatical and spelling errors.

Editor please!

This book is in desperate need of an editor. My biggest pet peeve is mistakes and this book has tons of them. This could’ve been a decent read, the potential was there, it just missed it’s mark. MC’s are a favorite if mine so I might judge them a little more harshly than others, but this one was missing a strong dose of realism. Again it tried and came close but ultimately missed its mark.

Didn’t quite make it

The plot had great potential, however the execution was way off. A lot of it I felt didn’t match up with the story or was just plain too much. The author seriously needs to use beta readers on future books, plus editors because there was a ton of grammatical errors.

This book was disorganized, lacked consistency and wasn't proofread before being published. Words were missing. Sentences didn't make sense. There were different facts throughout the story that just abruptly changed. I didn't even finish this book. I got it from kindle unlimited subscription. Very disappointed.

Needs a proofread and editing

While the story was good the lack of proofreading/editing was very distracting and sometimes confusing. I had to re-read sentences several times to try and figure out what the author was trying to say.
