18+ for language and sexual situations…

Burning Saints MC outcast, “Minus” Vincent, has been summoned out of exile by the Club’s President for reasons unknown. Upon his return, he finds himself tempted by forbidden fruit of the past that has only gotten sweeter with time.

Christina "Cricket" Wallace knows exactly what kind of life she wants, and it's far from the chaos and mayhem of an outlaw motorcycle club. She’s worked hard to get where she is, and she won’t let anyone keep her from getting there…especially her over-protective biker brother, or the sexy as hell Club rival she thought she’d never see again.

As Minus and Cricket pursue their own roads, they find their paths intersecting in a violent and passionate collision that will forever change their futures.

4 solid stars

Minus/Jase was 5 Stars all the way, but Cricket, hmmmmm I was torn and she was the reason the rating was lower than I expected.

Don' read further SPOILERS AHEAD

OK, so I enjoyed the story thoroughly I really did but I can't believe I am going to say this BUT there was just too much focus on the sex between Cricket and Minus than an actual growing relationship. I don't know I liked her, I did, but didn't love her. The BIGGEST turn off for me and again the lower rating...towards the end we are lead to believe he has proposed to her numerous times over a couple of years (besides her mistaking him doing so while reading earlier on and she was like oh nooooo) and she always says "no" I mean come on....that alone was a total turn off!!!!!! It was beyond ridiculous, he was super sweet, sexy and so in love and to me....what a selfish biotch...sorry I was so mad reading that and yes, they do get a very quick HEA with a shotgun wedding but really all her "no's" were a turn off!

All in all a good start with the exception of Cricket and her ridiculous "no's"......lol

Minus was banished years ago from his MC chapter...He was strictly told to stay away from the love of his life, cricket. Now years later he is called back by the very man who destroyed his life...with an offer that simply can't be refused!

Alright, let's start off by saying I really enjoyed Minus and the storyline that developed throughout this novel. I loved the action and how it kept me on the edge of my seat. I found this novel Sexy and Minus is very irresistible...

However, I had one small issue and this honestly is probably an issue with me but I had a really hard time feeling the connection between the main characters outside of the bedroom.

With that being said, I will definitely be reading more from this series in the future!

Maybe it's a case of 'it's not you, it's me', but I really could not get into this book. I was trying to figure out the best way to describe why I didn't like this, and honestly, this book just feels really campy.

The dialogue is cheesy, the situations are ridiculous, everything is completely over the top and exaggerated - it just all felt so fake. I kept waiting for David Caruso to come out and give a bad pun after Minus walked away from some guy he just punched.

description

There's just so much in here that feels so nonsensical:
- Minus being exiled to a farm in Georgia to unknowingly prepare him to become the new President of the MC in Portland
- Cricket and Minus being offered three million dollars to take over the club and turn it into a legit organization (seriously what MC needs a marketing person?)
- a rival club wanting a "black book" full of the Burning Saints business contacts so they can use it to take over the area
- Minus taking Cricket back to Georgia to hide said book and getting attacked by a hitman, who Cricket escapes via a safe room in an old farmhouse - but luckily she happens to have a tracking device in a ring that Minus gave her that she had put on the hitman's car, so she's able to rescue Minus, who gets medevacked from Savannah all the way to Portland to have his concussion cared for

description

Besides all that, there's very little relationship building between Cricket and Minus at all. They don't ever feel like a couple. All of their conversations are Cricket being mad at him for leaving years ago, Minus trying to convince her to join the Burning Saints, and them talking about her fear of horses.

And the sex...

description

Pretty much every encounter involves Minus smacking her on the ass or crotch, Cricket being instantly wet, Minus telling her to smash her face into the bed, bang bang bang, done.

description

Really just none of this worked for me.

Great MC book filled with grit, sex and all the other elements that make up a good MC story. I'm not going to compare Jack's writing with his wife's Piper because they are two individual writers. It is always interesting getting a male perspective and this one didn't disappoint. I haven't read a good 1% MC book in a while and The Burning Saints MC has always been a 1% club but times they are changing. Great characters and it was great to have some familiar people from The Dogs of Fire, ie. Hatch, Maisie and Poppy because Cricket the main female character is Hatch's sister. Excellent start to a new series and looking forward to reading Clutch's story. He is a hot headed alpha and his mouth can get him into all kinds of trouble. He also has a wicked sense of humour.

absolutely added to my favourites. the Dogs of Fire and all the other assoc series by this author's wife have always been on my absolute faves list and the Burning Saints have joined them. it was great to see a lot of crossover action with the Dogs but the story of Minus, Cricket & the Saints was definitely a great read. plenty of action, a new and interesting story line, great characters and a story that was really well written (10/2/18)

1/6/18 - Clutch has been released and it was a no brainer to re-read Minus & Cricket's story. loved it the first time and enjoyed it just as much this time round. great writing style .. contact with established characters from another brilliant series which always adds that something extra .. a second chance love story set in the rough and tumble world of outlaw bikers & a great story. absolutely worth reading

This is my first read by Jack Davenport and was a recommendation. I'm so glad I took the plunge. I absolutely loved this book. One of the things I really enjoyed was the set up of the story and how we were introduced to Minus and Christina or Cricket, as she's known. There was tons of action, a great storyline and steaminess between the couple--everything you'd expect from an MC novel. One of the things that really struck me was the dialogue. It was so fluently written, to the point were I could imagine it playing out on the big screen. I can't wait to read more from Jack.

Sooooo, everyone knows that I love MC books. I've read my far share of them but since I'm a greedy girl I always want more.
In all this time, reading MC books, I've never had one write by a male author and that made me wonder... Will it be better? Equal? Not so good? Well, despite the butterflies on my belly, and tons of questions, there were only one way to find out and that's reading. So here I am. Having Piper Davenport as his wife he needs to set up his game. She's one of my favorite authors for this genre so the spark is high.
Jack Davenport is the author in question. His writing is intense, raw, hot
Minus is his latest release and tells the stories of Minus and Cricket. This book is the first one from the Burning Saints series.
Minus was called to get back to his club after 6 years away. He's having mixed feelings about this because the same guy that sent him away now calls him back.
Cricket is a strong woman that knows what she wants and doesn't back out from a challenge. After having her heart broken 6 years ago, her uncle calls her back to the club she didn't wanted to return. To many memories that still hurt. When she's face to face with the man that broken her heart...
I'm impressed and so happy for reading this book. The plot is amazing, engaging, fast paced and well written. The interation between the characters is raw, intense and bumpy sometimes. These two are so stubborn sometimes that I wanted to slap them. This book presented us with betrayal, madness, crime as well as love, loyalty, friendship and desire. The hot scenes are there and very detailed. Oh boy!!
It was amazing the way this book captured my heart from the first page and I couldn't put it down.
Jack you rock. This book just reinforced my love for MC books. Please tell me that book 2 is almost here... I can't wait for more.

Congratulations Jack on taking the chance to write this amazing story, and what a fantastic start to a series this is! Minus is sent away from his club, and was forced to leave the love of his life behind. Now 6 years later he is summoned back by the president. Christina aka Cricket, is also summoned back, after being left heartbroken when Minus left, and is just starting to get her life back on track. Will Cricket get the answers she needs? Is forgiveness on the cards? No spoilers; this is an absolute must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a wonderful story, which is well written and flows seamlessly. I was totally hooked throughout, and look forward to reading the next book in this awesome series. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all lovers of MC and second chance romances. Awesome work Jack!

I have to say Jack is starting to give his wife a run for her money in the book department!
Minus has been called back to his club after being exiled for years. To say he is stunned when he finds out why is putting it mildly. Cricket has never forgotten (or gotten over) her first love. To see him suddenly standing before her throws her for a loop...and when he Uncle tells he why he has brought both of them there....well lets just say things don't go as planned.

I loved the way this story panned out. I loved the the interactions and cross references to other stories, but most of all I loved Minus!

I can't wait to see what else comes from this author.

it's not often I read romances written by men - this was a good one. I really enjoyed the fact that the heroine is a badass in a real way, not the forced stuff that is portrayed usually. I also really liked the lack of drama and angst (thank god for male writers).
It was a little confusing at first, because the book felt like it started in the middle of a series. I figured out later that it's related to another series written by Davenport's wife. I'll probably need to read that series also, but for now, I shall keep enjoying this one.

I’ve not read this author before, but I love a good MC book and am always on the hunt for them. This and book 2 came up for free on Amazon back in September 2023 and I grabbed them. Unfortunately, I was really bored. I was going to stick it out since I was almost halfway through, but when the porny sex scene started…nope. 🤮🤮🤮

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

Jace 'Minus' was exiled by his Club's president six years ago. He was a newly patched member and he was in love with someone that meant everything to him. But then he got exiled and he had to live with it. Now he's back and the last person he thought he would run into was Cricket.

Christina 'Cricket' Wallace was in love with Minus six years ago and after he left, (she didn't know why) its like she couldn't get into a serious relationship with anyone. Now six years later she has a stable job and her life is on track (Or so she wants to believe), the last thing she needs is Minus coming back into her life, causing havoc.
And especially a far fetched idea from her uncle (who knows what he's up to) who is Minus's club president and what will her over protective Dogs of Fire club member brother do to keep her away from the Burning Saints.

Oh my word I love the Dogs of Fire MC Series and Maisie and Hatch was my favorite couple, so getting to read about this couple in this book was awesome. I loved Minus, hot sexy biker, exactly how I like my bikers, lol. Story filled with love, family, action, and rivalry, everything that makes up a good MC Story. I can't wait for the next one....

Minus and Cricket are on the road again and it's full of action, adventure, and sensuality. Cricket was shattered when Jace Vincent disappeared from her life. She loved him wholeheartedly and when he left she was crushed. Since then no man has ever been able to fill his boots and she has a lot unresolved feelings for him should he ever darken her doorstep again. Minus was exiled when his involvement with Cricket Wallace was discovered. Without his woman or his brotherhood he felt empty and angry. The very last thing he expects when he is finally pulled from exile is not only see Cricket again but crazy Crow wants them to be his successors. Seeing Cricket and bring back with the club feels like coming home, but convincing his fiery girl to give this crazy train a ride won't be easy.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.

What a good book from a new author to me. I wasn't for sure how much is enjoy this MC book but let me just say I wasn't disappointed in any way shape or form.

I mean who doesn't love a second story romance, thrown in with an MC, and then add to that a hot biker and a mouthy heroine that was just FABULOUS in more than one way!!!! I love when authors write strong female leads and Cricket was great. Keep it up!!!

This is the first time reading this author's work and I was so very pleased that this book was such a knock out that I can't wait to read more from Mr. Davenport. This book is extremely well written with a storyline that will grab you, throw you on the back of the Harley for a ride that will thrill you, excite you, scare you and leave your body in a puddle of heat induced lethargy, but it is so well worth the ride! From being young lovers, to being forced apart by family, both blood and by brotherhood, Cricket and Minus re-meeting is anything but a joyous event. Confusion and anger cloud both of their minds as the President of the Burning Saints, Cutter, informs them of his intentions. And his intentions involves both of them working together!

There is another club in town trying to muscle in on the Saint's territory. There is apparently a "rat" in the midst of the Saint's club. There is Cricket and Minus's issue with each other and with the proposition made to them by Cutter, and then there is Cricket's brothers MC as well as her brother Hatch himself. Those are the few little wrenches that are thrown into the mix of what would be Cricket and Minus' getting back to where they were before he left all those years ago. Sounds fun....right???

The characters in this book are so very well written and incredibly well defined, and that includes the supporting characters, who I hope we get to see more of and get to know better in books to come. For now, Minus is hot, smart and is given a task that he didn't see coming and certainly didn't think for one moment that running into Cricket was even an option is this meeting with Cutter, but there she is. Beautiful, smart, successful and still holding onto his heart, she stands in the middle of the room, waiting to see what Cutter, her uncle, has to say. Not expecting to see the man who left her and took her heart right along with him. Cutter has plans for these two, if he can just get them to sit down and hear him out.

I was instantly engrossed in this story and didn't want to put the book down for even a moment (real life does tend to get in the way sometimes). But when I had it in my hands, I read as fast as I could so that I could see what was going to happen. And believe me, I was not let down at all. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one in the series. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!

Holy Hot Biker Boys!!! There is an amazing advantage to an author's husband catching the writing bug. I didn't have to wait for his wife to write her next biker book to be able to visit with old loves. Jack, please don't fight the bug, go with it and give me another amazing story in the Burning Saints MC sooner, rather than later.

After six years with the Savannah Chapter, Minus has been ordered to return to Portland, Oregon. Cutter, the same man that sent him away has demanded his return without explanation. Minus knows better than to question his president even if the man has kept him from his woman for six years without real reason.

Second chances don't exist for Cricket. But when her Uncle Cutter orders to the sanctuary Cricket can't refuse even if it has been six lonely years since she has set foot inside. Her man left with out reason, leaving her broken and alone.

Cutter has secrets. Cutter has plans and time is running out. Everything hinges on the two people he forced apart. Cutter soon realizes that not of it is going to be easy. It soon gets even more complicated.

The Dogs of Fire written by Piper Davenport are "law abiding" club making them enemies of the Burning Saints. What is Cutter up to bringing in Cricket into the fold? She is family to the Dogs of Fire. Her brother, Hatch, was one of those that put an end to her relationship with Minus. He ordered her to stay away from the Sanctuary. She walks into the fire when Cutter calls, but will she be able to put out the fire that erupts when she sees Minus.

Kudos to Jack Davenport for an amazing prologue. I kept waiting for the phone book to drop. The suspense was amazing. I knew there would be a moment that the world would get complicated but I was left hanging, guessing, biting my nails. The conflicts were a rush. And the romance was off the charts.

Five large stars to the author for having a woman become the actual hero. She was smart. She was strong. She was brilliant in her actions.

There is something to be said for keeping it in the family and with this the first in the Burning Saints MC Series by Jack Davenport, I was thrilled that there was a little interaction from the guys from the Dogs of War MC (Jacks fantastic wife Piper Davenport’s, MC Series) the fact that they could cross over like this and that they complement each other was superb.
Anyway, enough of that and on to the story itself, this was in my opinion fabulous.
The MC was depicted just as I would have wanted and there was angst oozing from every page.
Cricket and Minus (Jase) had, had their time together and whilst they may have wanted it to continue, they were forced apart at the behest of their clubs, two clubs that never gave reason, that never took into consideration the why’s and what ifs, two club Presidents that made their decree and stood back as their members obeyed orders …like they knew they would.
But now years later they have both been called back into the fold and ordered to return …but why?
The wherewithal to decipher exactly what was going on eluded me initially, the author had so many twists and turns stitched into the very fabric of the book that it was impossible for me to catch hold of just a single thread, I was reaching desperately for every morsel, ready to devour every word like I was starving, the book was impossible to put down.
I thought the author produced a superb read, he gave me characters and not just Minus and Cricket but a cast of club members that I NEED to know more about.
There were so many secrets that had to be unveiled I wondered whether the club would ever be the same again once they came to light, not only why Cricket and Minus had been torn apart all those years ago, but what exactly is going on now and why are they been brought back together…was it engaging… You betcha!
Loved every word of it!!! Highly recommended

Minus is book one in the Burning Saints MC series by Jack Davenport. It focuses on the characters Minus and Cricket. Minus has been in exile from his club and from the woman he loves for many years, working as a rancher but is called home unexpectantly when things are starting to change at the hands of the MC President and Minus is going to be at the forefront of that change.

Cricket has also been called back to the MC by her uncle the president and thrust back into the life that she used to have with Minus. But Cricket has changed, she knows her own mind and what she wants. Yes, she may want Minus, but she doesn’t know if she is willing to go back down the same road again. Older and wiser…yes, but not stupid.

This was a great read, not only do we have some really good and strong characters, we also see Minus’s life before and after he left the MC. I liked the added story of what was happening at the Burning Saints and that everything was not as it seemed. The camaraderie between the MC was great as was their relationship with Cricket, especially as they all knew that both her and Minus belonged together.

Minus and Cricket’s relationship was complex, emotional and hot! They just worked together and even though it was a second chance romance, I like to think that both characters learnt a lot of new things about each other when they met up again.

Overall, a good new series with a great storyline and some wonderful characters.

Oh my..oh my...oh my....

I seriously had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started reading Minus. I mean seriously I am a book lover to the extreme and read just about anything but I have a serious soft spot for bad@ss biker boys and the men of the Burning Saints did not disappoint. Jack Davenport takes you a ride that is raw, gritty and sweet and enduring all at the same time. This is my first book by Jack Davenport and will definitely not be my last. From the first page I was hooked and half way through the book I one clicked book two and three - I just needed more of the men of the Burning Saints.

Minus is action packed and will leave you on the edge of your seat at times. Not only does it have a bad@ass biker lead but a strong willed woman (Cricket) who isn’t so shabby herself and can hold her own when it counts. Minus is really about second chances and how one chooses to move forward. I couldn’t put this book down and loved every minute of it. The characters are on point and you feel like you are right there with them through the good and the bad. Minus and Cricket are definitely too hot to handle and the connection between the two was definitely off the charts hot.

Minus is a must read and I highly recommend it. I can’t wait to read Clutches book and watch him fall to his knees for a girl 😃.

It was good but...

I enjoyed the book and feel the writing is good but I have a bone to pick with the author over the portrayal of the nurse in the hospital when Minus wakes up from his coma. I frequently see the "evil nurse" trope portrayed in many forms of media, and while certainly there are nurses out there that are not ideally suited to the profession, I am tired of seeing it as part of a story line. The doctor Eldie is respected but the nurse in the hospital who is asking them to be quiet because there are other patients who are being disturbed by too many visitors in a room being too loud is verbally abused and subjected to ad hominem attacks on her appearance. Yes, one may say that this is a work of fiction, however being in the profession I can attest that more than a few people believe that this is acceptable behavior towards staff. I would like to see more artists acknowledge the importance of the work nurses do and that we, too, are human and not infallible. Remember, the doctor is with you at best 15 to 30 minutes whereas your nurse is with you for a 12 hour shift often working short-staffed and without adequate breaks. That is the one thing that distracted from the story for me and why it is given 4 stars.

Minus & Cricket: triggers: drugs, torture, kidnapping, cancer. So I wasn't sure about this book at first but I'm glad I took a chance. It was actually pretty good. Though I have to say it is more an MC thriller/mystery because there's very little romance despite the very hot sex scenes. The story is more focused on the club and their adversary. Minus has been called back to town from exile from the club president and he doesn't know why. We find out quickly why he was exiled and why he's back. The president, Cutter, is retiring and wants Minus to take the reins. This didn't really make sense since most MC's move up the ranks from within a seated position and Minus did not hold a seat at the table before leaving. He was just a soldier. So all the other officers essentially are passed over. I think this might be a problem throughout the series. Cricket is Minus' ex and Cutters niece, her brother is in a rival MC. THAT'S A MOUTHFUL! She's also part of the reason why minus is exiled but she believes he just left her. Now they're in the same town again and despite the hurt, they can't fight the feelings. Now Minus must deal with a new rival who's out to take everything from his club. At any cost!

Awesome MC Romance. The author has written a wonderful storyline that is full of suspense, romance and a few laughs. As for the characters, they are well developed with personalities you can’t help but love and root for.

Cricket and Jase, also known as Minus, have a history; they were lovers that were torn apart 5 years prior by two Motorcycle Clubs. Now they were being thrust back together but why and why now? Not to mention what was the real reasons they were forced apart in the first place? The author will keep you guessing with various twists and turns as the storyline develops and holds you in it’s grasp.

This is Book 1 of what this readers feels will be an amazing series. The author has brought to life a new MC series that incorporates characters from his wife’s, Piper Davenport, series featuring the Dogs of Fire MC. In fact Cricket is Hatch’s sister - Hatch being a main character in the Dog of Fire series. To Mr. Davenport I say Kudos on a job well done. To my fellow readers: I say 2 Thumbs Up for a great read that I Highly recommend one-clicking ASAP. You won’t regret it!
