From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Elisabeth Naughton comes a new story in her House of Sin series…

The leaders of my House want her dead.

The men I’ve secretly aligned myself with want her punished for screwing up their coup.

I’ve been sent by both to deal with her, but one look at the feisty redhead and I’ve got plans of my own.

Before I carry out anyone else’s orders, she’s going to give me what I want. And only when I’m satisfied will I decide if she lives or dies.

Depending, of course, on just how easily she surrenders...

Before topping multiple bestseller lists—including those of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal—award winning author Elisabeth Naughton taught middle school science. A voracious reader, she soon discovered she had a knack for creating stories with a chemistry of their own. The spark turned into a flame, and Elisabeth now writes full-time.

Though primarily known for her romantic suspense work, Elisabeth has penned over thirty books and continues to write in multiple genres, including paranormal romance and contemporary romance. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and have earned several award nominations, including three prestigious RITA® nominations from Romance Writers of America. In 2017, REPRESSED, the first book in her Deadly Secrets series, won the RITA® for best romantic suspense.

Elisabeth's work has been praised by the Chicago Tribune as being filled with "deadly intrigue, high adrenaline action, and scorchingly hot passion.” Kirkus calls her "a writer talented enough at weaving a yarn to get her readers ensnared in it.” When not dreaming up new stories, Elisabeth can be found spending time with her husband and three children in their western Oregon home, wrangling two cats, or chasing after one very rambunctious Dalmatian.

Surrender takes place a few years before Luciano made the ultimate changes in the House Salvatici and met his wife, Natalie James. This House of Sin novella is centered on Marco Romano and Felicity Merrick's unexpected relationship. He's been sent by his House to put a stop to whatever Miss Merrick was planning, but one look at her made him forget about his assignment. Before the night was done, he'd have gotten what he came for, and so much more.

Felicity and Marco must now work together to discover the secrets their Houses were keeping, but trust and assurance weren't something Felicity was sure to give to this man who stole her breath away. She could never be too sure, especially once she learned and witnessed his double-crossing stunts.

This has been quite a short but certainly wild story that only Elisabeth Naughton could deliver. The excitement, the suspense, the ferocity of the characters and the heart-pounding romance - all these and more had contributed to making this novella (and the whole series as well) very successful and mind-blowing. I want to commend Naughton for never faltering in her drive to make sure that her readers are either left satisfied or screaming for more.

Surrender is a stand-alone novella in the House of sin series by Elisabeth Naughton. You don't have to have read the first book in the series to understand what is going on, because I have read it and I couldn't find a way that these two are connected. I don't remember of reading a Marco or a Felicity in the main book and I think the only connection is the Houses.

The story was good for most of the time, but in the end, it felt a little rushed and that turned me off. The suspence was good and it was my favorite part and I wish the main story will be like this one. I wasn't sold on the romance though. I enjoyed the epilogue, but overall it felt rushed which is a disappointment. That's the reason the book got 4 stars instead of 5.

This is actually a prequel to the House of Sin series. Great addition and is fine to read in any order. I did enjoy it after the conclusion of the first 3 books in the series since I already had some understanding about the world building. It is full of intrigue and action and some insta-lust/love with Marco and Felicity. They are the perfect couple in this messed up world. Great hearts and genuinely good people.

Short story but actually gives another insight into the workings of the 5 Houses. Looking forward to more books in this series going forward.

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--SURRENDER is a prequel novella in Elisabeth Naughton’s contemporary, adult HOUSE OF SIN erotic, romance series, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. This is Felicity Merrick, and Marco Romero’s story line. SURRENDER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary, although I recommend reading the original House of Sin series for backstory and cohesion. Felicity and Marco were first introduced in the author’s House of Sin series focusing on Luc and Natalie.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Marco and Felicity) SURRENDER reveals some of the backstory between Felicity Merrick, of House Merrick, and Marco Romero of House Salvatici, two Houses within the powerful Entente. Known for their power, control and oft times acts of savagery and brutality, the Houses of the Entente battle for supremacy using their members including Marco and Felicity but our couple work to protect the most vulnerable, against the rules of the people in charge. SURRENDER focuses on the how and why of Marco and Felicity, and their first steps towards securing the safety of others.

SURRENDER is a quick read; a sexy and sassy look at two people caught up in the violence and ruthlessness of a centuries-old system built upon power and control. The character driven premise is energetic; the romance is passionate and fated; the characters are colorful and inspiring.

description

Surrender is a House of Sin novella and the first that I have read of this series. It sounds like it takes place prior to the series and was certainly enough to make me interested in more. I have only read this author's paranormal series and quite enjoyed it and I have a feeling that I will enjoy the rest of this one too.

Marco has been sent by his House to stop/get Felicity from getting her hands on important information. Felicity is from another House and trying to prove herself worthy. As a woman, she holds little power but she is bound to prove herself to her family and cause. The House's are an intricately woven tale of bad people, good people, lies, bribery and perhaps something more.

Marco is not meaning to fall for the girl he has been sent after but there she is, in all of her flirty and erotic glory. Felicity is not looking for anyone other than her mark but there is something magnetic about Marco that calls to her. Riddled with suspense and the question as to who is behind it, I was glued to this novella, waiting for the chips to fall. While you do not meet the subject of the rest of the series you are led to believe changes are coming within the Houses and he is going to be the cause of it. Sexy and sinful, this novella did exactly what it was meant to. It was a complete story in itself but really gets you intrigued by what is to come.

SURRENDER is a stand alone novella in the House of Sin series by one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE authors, Ms. Elisabeth Naughton. It is the story of Marc and Felicity. I was thrilled when I realized that this novella would be their story, as this couple’s dynamic is incredible. Ever since they were previously introduced in the first installments of this series, I had been hoping to learn more of their story. SURRENDER is romance, suspense, action and a hint of mystery all wrapped up in one. Ms. Naughton created quite a page turner in telling the story of Felicity and Marco. Through this novella, the reader is able to learn more about how the inner workings of the Entente, specifically, Felicity’s House, and her overall upbringing- all of which I was hoping to learn more about in the prior books. Also, we learn more about the dynamic of Marco and Felicity’s relationship and how they were able to be together despite their different backgrounds in their world. Once I started this novella, I literally could not put it down. I did not want it to end, and I also (begrudgingly) had to come to terms with the end of this series overall! I seldom come across a romance novel that entails so many varying components so skillfully put together. Truly a work of art! SURRENDER is mystery, thriller, suspense, action and romance blended together to tell the whirlwind story of Marc and Felicity’s love. I did not want this novella to end!

I love that we finally get Marco's and Felicity's story in this novella. I knew they had to have an explosive backstory and boy do they ever!

Felicity is out to change how the Entente works and so is Marco, but he is doing it all on the down low, when everyone in the Entente know that Felicity is out to make changes that not everyone wants to see.

Marco is sent to take care of Felicity and stop her from finding a certain list that may have his name on it. However what she finds is not a list, but a video that is out to blackmail her and her father. But who is wanting that? It doesn't take them long to figure it out. After of course being shot at, jumping from a balcony stories high up off the ground, and hiding away in a little apartment.

Marco and Felicity have always shown great love and romance in the full length House of Sin books and it was so nice to see how the two came to be together when it was only hinted at in the other books of the series.

I do wish their book was a bit longer, but was still so great to see how lightning struck them both and they knew, although it took one longer than the other to realize this.

Loved, loved, loved! A great short read and so nice to get Marco and Felicity's story!

In Elisabeth Naughton's novella Surrender we get to experience how one of my favorite couples met and fell in love.

Marco and Felicity are from two different houses and on different sides of the resistance, or so it seems.

I would hear her scream my name as she surrendered to me... even if the name she screamed wasn't really mine.

I love that we get Marco and Felicity's story. Arrogant Italian and feisty rebel equals super hot, extremely flammable chemistry. I can't really say much about the story because I feel if you haven't read any of the House of Sin novels it might ruin your reading experience. But do pick them all up and read Ms. Naughton's dark romances. They are depraved and hot, and totally worth your time.

Bam!!!

I was very excited to learn that Surrender was actually a prequel to the House of Sin series. This novella is included in the 1001 Dark Nights series which is a collective series of novellas. In this enticing story we get a look into how Marco and Felicity meet and sparks fly from the beginning. Fee is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and quite literally rocks Marco’s world. This novella is full of heat and intrigue and left me wanting more of their story. This novella can be read as a stand-alone but I encourage you to check out the HOS series if you have not already.

Last but not least, I received an ARC of Surrender for an honest review, which in no way influenced my review. Thank you, Elisabeth Naughton for this engaging look into the story behind Marco and Fee. I’m very sad now that the series is complete.

This was a quick read that left me wanting more, more, more! I immediately went and added the entire series to my ever-growing TBR List. I loved the chemistry between Marco and Felicity, yes there is inst-love in this story but that is okay with me because once you listen to Marco explain his parents story to Felicity you'll be okay with it too, even if you aren't a fan of insta-love.

Surrender: A House of Sin Novella is part of the 1001 Dark Nights series and a prequel for Elisabeth Naughton's sexy, dark series. This book is written without all the dark scenes from the House of Sin series. It's much more like the books from her other contemporary Ageis Security series. You don't have to have read her HOS series to read Surrender. This book could be read as a stand alone. If this is the first book you've read from the HOS then be forewarned the rest of the series is a dark romance that some might find trigger issues with so keep that in mind. After having read the entire series I'm so glad to have Marco and Felicity's back story. They are a bright spot in the series. I received an ARC from the author. This is my voluntary honest review.

Marco and Felicity's backstory is a delight for everyone who has been following the House of Sin series. These two intriguing characters are bold daring and are willing to put their lives on the line so that the future of the Entente can be changed for the better.

Though this is a fairly short book, it will give you a great insight into how Marco and Felicity came together, what has inspired them to walk down this arduous path and what they are working towards.

My first from this series, but not from this author!

Being a novella, there wasn't a lot of space devoted to world building, so not having read the other books I felt a bit out of the loop re: what the Houses are/were. (I'm still not 100% on this...) Still, this was an enjoyable story. Things happen fast--Marco and Felicity meet, feel an attraction (for him it's pretty instant), are drawn into a mystery, are put in danger, and figure out who's behind it all--but overall it didn't end up seeming overly rushed, despite the short time frame. The characters were likable, and I heard just enough about the mysterious Luc to want to pick up his story (book 1-- Forbidden ) soon! Undoubtedly the other two will follow it onto my TBR.

Rating: 4 stars / B+

Surrender is a stand-alone novella in the House of Sin series focusing on Marco and Felicity. I am so glad that Naughton wrote this one because Marco and Felicity have a strong presence in the rest of the books and I was really curious to learn more of their background, how they met and fell in love and this short story shares that and more. Naughton provides the perfect blend of intrigue, suspense, mystery and steamy romance that spans the distance of time and the threat of danger from two strong rival houses as well as a strong bond of love that does not fade. More information on the inner workings of the Entente is given, along with a look into Felicity’s upbringing and some on the resistance. I was hooked from the first page and was so sad to see it end. Naughton has created such a fascinating world with amazing characters and I would love to see more from them in the future. Surrender is a fabulous ending to the House of Sin series.

Marco Romero belongs to Italy’s House Salvatici. He pretends to abide by the Entente and their immoral ways. Marco undertakes the task of cautioning Felicity Merrick against her Resistance endeavors. The sexy British woman brings danger and possible exposure to his door. Marco has no other recourse but to help Felicity figure out the threat to her house. Will House Salvatici and the Entente learn about Marco’s true ambitions? Can he help House Merrick without exposing himself?
Felicity Merrick is the daughter of the head of UK’s House Merrick. She is a licensed medical physician. Felicity is an active participant in the Resistance, a group of people who strive to change the Entente and abolish their corrupt power. She intends to steal a memory card with content that can expose her fellow Resistance compatriots. Instead, Felicity encounters a devastatingly handsome Italian, who threatens to distract her. Will Marco be another roadblock in Felicity’s aspirations? Or will he prove beneficial?
Marco is such a swoon-worthy hero. I like the fact that he has a phobia. That Marco is not some invincible alpha type, but a human male with weaknesses. I admire his reasons for subterfuge against the corrupt members in his house. But, what I love the most about Marco is his belief that love exists. It is a nice change of pace, especially his willingness to grasp onto love when it presents itself.
Felicity is no damsel in distress. Instead, she is a woman of grit and fire. I admire her steely determination to change the corrupt, male-dominated world she had been born into. But what I like the most about Felicity is how she gives Marco tit for tat in their verbal flirtation-slash-sparring. She is unafraid to speak her mind when around him.
SURRENDER is a short novella in 1001 DARK NIGHTS, #81. It is book 1.5 in Elisabeth Naughton’s HOUSE OF SIN series. The BDSM element in the first book, FORBIDDEN, made me hesitant on reading this story. However, SURRENDER reads more like a romantic suspense than an erotica, which made it enjoyable to me.
SURRENDER is a short yet suspenseful tale of two people from rival houses discovering love. I like how Elisabeth Naughton explores another facet into the Entente’s world with a novella. I hope if she writes more in this series, the tone will be similar to this story’s.

Surrender takes place before the entire House of Sin Series starts. It is the story of Marco and Fee. I was always a bit intrigued by these characters and in Surrender we get to see their back story. How they met, why they met, and how they became the amazing couple that they are.

Marco was sent by his house to warn Fee, stop her. She was on the path to stealing a secret that could rock all 13 houses. But one look at her and he wanted her with a vengeance that would not be stopped. When he steals what she is looking for and finds some very disturbing information about her house and his, it sets him on a path to find the truth.

Fee only wants to get the information that she things will help her house and bring down the Italian house. But when she lays eyes on the sexy stranger who makes her want, she knows that she is in trouble. After tracking him down and seeing what was on the files, she has no choice but to trust him and work with him to get to the truth.

But when Fee is betrayed in the worst way, she will not know who she can trust and what the truth really is. She will have to trust in the facts and look past the lies to figure out if Marco was really playing her, or if the lighting strike that she feels every time he touches her, kisses her, looks at her is the real forever love that she thought she would never find.

Surrender is an amazing addition to the House of Sin series. I have always wondered about Marco and Fee. Throughout the series we had a glimpse of how they met, but to see it unfold in this amazing story was out of this world. I am hoping that there might be more stories about these to dynamic and complex characters to come.

A well written and entertaining backstory to the House of Sin series

I loved, loved, loved the House of Sin books, and couldn't miss out on this. I wasn't sure if it involved characters I knew or if they would be totally new to me. If you've read the books then you'll know who I'm referring to when I say that these were my second favourite couple. This doesn't have the darkness of the rest of the series, but it was really good to find out how Marco and Felicity first met.

The writing is excellent, as I always expect from this author, whilst the plot had plenty of depth, twists and turns. The pace held my attention throughout and I really enjoyed reading this.

I do think the House of Sin trilogy needs to be read BEFORE this. Surrender can be read as a stand alone but the threat and intrigue of the Entente isn't fully explored in this book. Even those this is set BEFORE Luc and Natalie's story, I felt it contained a few spoilers for those books.

At times the story did feel rushed, particularly the ending. I'm sure this is because of the constraints imposed by book length and this having to be a novella. Whilst I felt I got to know Marco and Felicity enough to feel a connection to them, I didn't really feel much emotional intensity and theirs was very much an instalove story.

Overall this is a good read, I liked it and would recommend it to others.

Surrender? Or conquer? That is the question both Felicity and Marco continually have on their minds.

This is a fantastic novella based on Naughton’s House of Sin series. It can be read as a stand-alone if you wish, as an introduction to the series, or read afterward as a prequel. Either way you choose, it should definitely be on your reading list.

Marco and Felicity meet under trying circumstances as they appear to be on opposing sides of international powerhouses. Still, even they cannot lie to themselves about the incredible attraction they have for one another. However, they are each present to do a job, complete an assignment, and hopefully escape without arousing the suspicion of the other powerhouses. But when things don’t appear to be as cut and dried as they had been led to believe by their own organizations, they must decide whether to continue as they’d begun or to surrender their identities and trust to each other in order to find out the real truth of the situation in which they’d both been placed.

This novella is definitely worth the reader surrendering to it. You’ll love it.

I have been a huge fan of the House of Sin series and was SO excited that Surrender was Marco and Felicity's backstory. They were absolutely amazing in the full length stories so it was amazing to see how they initially got together.

I loved how we learned more about the Entente in this book and more importantly how Felicity was initially Marco's target on a mission. She was secretly part of a resistance movement to undermine the Entente and it was his job to stop her. But when truths and betrayals are revealed about Marco and Felicity's House will they be able to be together while there are warring factions against each other?

I thought this story was a quick and sexy novella that provided some much needed information on Felicity and Marco. I loved their passion for one another while maintaining their devotion to justice. I thought this was a solid conclusion to a fantastic series! Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

There are definate shades of Romeo and Juliet in this Novella, with the whole rival house thing. The houses are part of a secret organisation that uses blackmail and other nefarious means to gain money and power. Felicity and Marco have an instant attraction and the novella alternates between their first person views, which gives nice twist to it. The two of them work together to unravel a plot where danger lurks just below the surface, twisting to suck down the unwary.
There are some nice bits of humour in the story which act as a counter ballance to the sizzling chemistry between the two.
Being a novella there is a lot to pack in so the story moves at a fast pace, the two seemed doomed to be torn apart as they both put doing the right thing ahead of personal happiness, do they get their happy ever after? You'll have to read it and see.

Surrender is a great introduction to the House of Sin series as it builds the world of the Houses and the Entente with some serious sizzle between Marco and Felicity.

The Entente has always been the domain of the men, but Felicity wants to see that change- along with other parts of the powerful behind-the-scenes force. House Salvitici has sent Marco to deliver a warning to her, but once Marco sees and interacts with her for the first time, all his prior plans go out the window. This woman is fierce and smart, and she pushes his buttons in all the right ways. But they each have their own hidden agendas- the question is, are they on the same side?

Surrender has twists, turns and steam aplenty for a novella, and it was a very quick read as I didn't want to put it down once I started it. With that said, it is a much lighter read than the rest of the House of Sin series as the Entente's power comes from some very dark places with some very twisted individuals.

This prequel to the exciting HOUSE OF SIN romance series features one of my favorite couples, Marco and Felicity. We finally see how they met and how instantaneous their chemistry was. They are from rival houses/families and Marco is sent to stop Felicity from her purpose. In doing so, he discovers that she may need his help. It doesn't hurt that they have sky rocketing chemistry together. Felicity is tough as nails and holds her own with the best of them, namely Marco. But just as soon as she believes he is helping her, a twist comes that shocks her to her core.

Don't let the short novella name stop you from reading this book. It didn't feel short at all and it actually is a well rounded and full romance with plenty of action. Having said that, if you haven't read the first three books in this series, you may have trouble understanding some of the background. I hope to enjoy more of Marco and Felicity's story in the future!

Marco Garcia has his eye on the prize. Felicity isn’t sure her life will ever be the same again. If you’ve read the House of Sin series than you’ll want this added to your library. But if you haven’t, that’s ok because this gives you enough that you’ll want to check out the series anyway.

You wouldn’t think that a novella could be a page-turner but this author will prove you wrong. We have plot twists, revelations and an ending that really isn’t one. In order to get a full sense of what the House of Sin is all about you’ll need to read the first three books (and those should be read in order). This book gives the background of the secondary characters seen there. And this leaves you wanting to see more of Marc and Felicity – fingers crossed.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I always love starting a book by a new author, it is like a new relationship! But I have loved all the 1001 Dark Nights authors I have read so far so this was a no brainer to pick up! This book and author does not disappoint and I cant wait to read the rest of this series. I have not read any other books in the series and found this book easy to get into. Once I started the story and characters chemistry made it so I did not want to put this book down! This book focus on Marco and Felicity who have a presence in the rest of the series from what I have read. Macro is the best kind of dark Alpha and Felicity is a feisty and smart heroine. This story weaves not only a love story but suspense and action that will keep you turning the page! I cant wait to read the rest of the series to see what happens!

If you think 65-ish pages can't hold any heat, any action or any plot then you haven't read anything written by Elisabeth Naughton. Read her House of Sin series followed up with Surrender and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Just as I hoped after finishing Undone, we are given a small glimpse into how Marco & Natalie met and what they are up against in wanting to be together - themselves and their Houses. Will they have the fairytale as Marco wants & Natalie doesn't think is possible or will House Salvatici step in and destroy it all? They are strong supporting characters in Luc & Natalie's story but knowing what's been revealed in Undone, I really hope Ms. Naughton writes their story because there is a whole lot more to tell about these two.

Marco is part of the House Salvatici and he has been sent to stop Felicity from stealing a drive that could have an effect on all the houses however when he sees her he wants her and its not for her secrets.

Felicity is part of House Merrick and wants the information and is not about to be waylaid by the sexy Marco. When she finds out he has what she has been searching for she tracks him down and their evening explodes not with chemistry but with gunfire.

Nothing is as it seems, and betrayals can come from the last person you expect, and she must decide if Marco is helping her or if he is working against her. This story leads you on an adventure filled with suspense, twists and red hot chemistry. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

When sassy meets tall, dark and handsome while danger lurks in the dark, I quickly found myself consumed in Surrender. This novella is a flipping great addition to the House of Sin series by this author. When I saw the author was doing a story for the 1001 Series, I knew it was going to be awesome. I wasn’t disappointed.

In the House of Sins series, I met Marco and Felicity for the first time. When that series ended, I wish that the author would write their story because I knew it would be just as fascinating as Luc and Natalie’s story. Surrender is the sexy, intriguing beginning of Felicity and Marco. I love their banter and their attraction slithered across the pages with a lot of heat. Yas!

This was enjoyable and I look forward to more from this author.

Loved this story, well played out with the characters.
Marco has a desire to be with the hot little lady Felicity, but alas he is suppose to eliminate her. lol OK not happening. He is enticed by her mouth, body and her appeal to get what she wants and video.
But all of this is a ruse, but by who?
This story is cute and yes sexy. I'm glad I was able to read their story as they are also in the trilogy Forbidden, Deceived, and Undone; House of Sin Novels the Nic and Natalie story. I had wondered how Marco and Felicity actually met, and became who they are.
This was given to me by the author and I freely give it a review. Thank you Elisabeth Naughton, it was good.

Dangerously wicked! If you've been reading the previous books in the House of Sin series, you'll already recognize Marco and Felicity, but now we're getting their story from when it started! It was short and sweet, but filled with lots of passion and information of how it all began for them. Looking forward to more to come in the series!

She's a key figure in the Houses, and doesn't realize the danger she's in.

He's been sent to teach her a lesson for daring to screw up the plans they've made.

Attraction explodes around them as danger nears. Will joining forces help get her to safety, or will one of them lead the other into more trouble than they ever expected?

I received a free complimentary book and voluntarily reviewed it.

This is part of the 1001 Dark of Nights series. However, it is the fourth book in the “House of Sin” series. In spite of that, it is actually the prequel to the first three books.

This is the story of Marcos and Felicity. This couple plays an important role in the “House of Sin” series, and, yet, we do not know much about them.

Surrender explains their background. Here we find out how they meet, what Felicity is doing when she meets Marcos and why they never get married.

This book is short and can be read very quickly. However, since I like Marcos and Felicity, I enjoyed learning all about them.
